The musical opened at Her Majesty’s Theatre on 9 October 1986 with Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman in the leading roles, and there have been dozens of productions worldwide since then. Now in its 30th record-breaking year, The Phantom of the Opera continues to captivate audiences at Her Majesty’s Theatre in London’s West End, after more than 11,000 performances.
Andrew Lloyd Webber’s mesmerizing score along with jaw-dropping scenery and breathtaking special effects, magically combine to bring this tragic love story to life each night.

She is incredible
Celinde's Phantom of the Opera candenza is probably my favorite of any Christine I've heard. She starts out lilting and lyrical like how you hear most Christines do it, but then with each key change her notes seem to become progressively more urgent and intense until the final sustained notes where you'll notice she gets a little bit sharper each time she hits that high C, leading her very easily into the final high E. It's a clearly thought through progression that is masterfully executed.
Ramin and Sierra will always be my favorites but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate other actors and actresses! These two are amazing!! Beautiful voices and I love Ben's acting here. Onl thing I'm not a big fan of is the Phantom's makeup. It's a bit too harsh in my humble opinion. Unless it's done that way for a specific reason?

It's theatre make-up, which is always applied more heavily in order for the people in the back to also be able to see the actors' features and expressions well.
The makeup has just been done in a more 'stage' way. it has to be heavier and more exagerated as theatre light tend to soften itout. It just looks harsh in daylight. Theatre Stage Manager here by the way.

I think Ben's wearing more make-up than Celinde! A very good performance though. I've seen these two perform at Her Majesty's Theatre three times and I am always pleasantly surprised at how good they are. This video really doen't do them justice.

Wayyyy too much makeup on the Phantom. Especially for a daytime performance. It looks like he left his lair to raid his local Sephora and used every bad makeup influencer trend at once. I'm not sure why so many Phantoms are looking like this in recent years. Yes, I understand stage makeup, but this makes him look too femme, especially the eyebrows and contour/highlighter mess he's got going on. When I see Phantoms styled this way, it really kills the vibe and takes me out of the performance. Aside from that, while I'm not a fan of his voice, Celinde sounds beautiful and makes a great Christine.

We saw it at the real theatre and it took me ages to find the one went to with Ben & Kelly but its here it is not as good as seeing the real one I also got my photo taken with Kelly Mathson. I'v seen this video lots of times! its so good the real one plus its only £256 for 4 people.

Sierra's fans are the most annoying and disrespectful people ever. Why do you feel the need to compare each and every single actress to her? This video is about Celinde and Ben. Sierra and Ramin are irrelevant here. They're no longer the Phantom and Christine and haven't been for a long time. Move the fuck on, seriously. Sierra isn't the best Christine. There are and have been many actresses who are/have been much better than her. Ramin is great, but many other actors have been just as good as him. Anywho, Celinde is a great Christine and her voice is just lovely. Not a big fan of Ben, he's okay, but not great.

I'm a Sierra fan, but I do agree with the point you are making. Sierra is not the ONLY Christine. Other women that play as Christine should be appreciated as well, and should not be compared to Sierra all the dang time. Phantom of the Opera is not just For Sierra and Ramin, it is for anyone with the right talent for the characters.

kevin31mac it is true. They must simply recreate the same makeup perfectly for every Phantom, hence why I was confused.
That happens to the best of us ;-) I actually saw them both as Phantom, quite recently too, that's why I knew for sure this is Ben :-)
amazing voice of both of them! but ... where is chemistry, passion, intimate between them? They put such focus on the voice and forget about the body language. (Now I'm aiming for the title song) Music of the night was better body language, and like that, awesome voice of Ben! But he is all over the stage in both songs
It's hard for 2 people to fill a big stage. Its not meant to be a copy of what happens in the show.

The thing I noticed about Ben's Phantom when I saw him, is he is very creepy. Quite Michael Crawford-esque. There should be some degree of connection or chemistry between Christine and the Phantom, but not to an extreme (she loves Raoul after all). Ben as the Phantom was perfect.
