Whose here after being blown away by the free entire show that's just been uploaded? I was blown away by the costumes and this shows how amazing they are!
I' m a dresser at Phantom of The Opera in Copenhagen right now, and I really enjoyed this video. Thank you so much. And yes, we get a looot of exercise from running around and handling all these heavy, but gorgeous, costumes:)
It's only after you see all the work and heart put into things like costume design that you start appreciating it (or at least in my case) sometimes things you take for granted are such a complex and beautiful part of an all.
Totally agree, Juan. I have an entirely new level of respect for how many artists work behind and in front of the stage to make this show happen. LOTS of creativity in one place!
The dress room at the theater was AMAZING! I not only have so much respect for the designers, but also the team who keeps these costumes together after being warn so many times. Thanks for the feedback, and for subscribing!
They sell costume pieces at the Broadway Flea Market each September, if you wanted some memorabilia? :) I have one bow and one headband that have some of the flowers from the Il Muto sylphide costumes on them.
All broadway costumes are in a sense practically custom Coutoure garments. And what’s even more crazy is how much collaboration, and evolving goes into costuming a show. It’s a huge part of a show because costumes are one of the many cogs in the machine of bringing a show from idea to reality.
I'm going to go to college for costume design I hope. I really love it, and it seems the most amazing of all the parts of a production because your art is put into another amazing art and no one ever has to know it's you who made the visuals complete:) (unless they really, really care, I guess)
B Spencer That’s awesome to hear! I say go for it. I will tell you this much, I have so much respect for the designers of these costumes. I was amazed how everything is taken into consideration such as light, color, contrast, weight, and so much more. What these artists do is absolutely amazing.
This was an amazing clip of the costumes! I saw the nyc Broadway show 6 times. Its the standard by which i judge all other shows. This show will never close. I think i need to go back for a 7th round.
So awesome that you have seen the show so many times! Great to know you appreciate the episode too. I loved getting to go behind the scenes. The building along has so much history, which is amazing!
I watched the free show and later bought it because I wanted to watch it again and now whenever we can I want to go see it on Broadway. :) It's just so amazing!
These dresses are just amazing! I still can't get over how much they each weighed, and how much work it takes to keep them in good shape! Thanks for watching and subscribing!
Far out, this just took me back to a youth production of phantom I worked on. Incredible costumes, and they really are extremely heavy! I helped with quick changes and they were nuts
I loved the show i got to see it twice if you havent seen it I recommend you do the show is stunning and seeing these costumes on the people is just as stunning 🌹❤
As someone who has recreated the Think of Me dress from both the movie and broadway versions, the Broadway version weighs so much because the weight of the fabric plus the beads and the lace and details weigh it down so much that its basically a workout just trying to get from one end of the convention hall to another in 4 inch heels and a corset and heavy petticoats underneath and still be able to sing opera for the contest is just hard work.
That's incredible that you have recreated that dress! I still can't believe how much these dresses weighed. Combine that with trying to sing and move on the stage and I have no idea how they do it each night! Super appreciate you watching and for the great feedback.
It's amazing.... nice interview there is. I love it.. the setting, costumes, cast. Remarkable! PotO is indeed favorite musical and I'm designing costume.. inspiring... I adore this designer as well, she's so articulate and precise!
Host: How could you NOT know that PHANTOM's iconic costumes were designed by the genius, Maria Bjornson, decades ago? You're supposed to prepare for an interview.
Could not agree more! It was incredible just getting a glimpse of what occurs behind the scenes to make these massive shows possible. Thanks for watching and the feedback!
I can only imagine Sierra Boggess wearing that beautiful blue dress. I wonder who does their dry cleaning and how often do they send them to be dry clean?
As much as I don't like handful of US costumes and choices of design (minimal variation in Slavegirls tiaras and chestplates or Black color in Il Muto) I still really enjoy this costume porn! The costumes overall are stunning, Maria Björnson was really talented lady! She's one who inspired me to design!
Hey, go for it! My friend who I interviewed in this episode went to the same small, middle of nowhere high school as me! She just wanted it badly enough and got it!
I’m in love with her blue dress and her Dawn Juan dress, also the wedding dress is exquisite.
I am a huge Phan of this Musical! The Phantom himself is my favorite Character!
I wanna meet Ben Crawford!
"One of the longest running shows on Broadway"? No, no, no, no, no. It's THE longest running show on Broadway

A lot goes into costumery and I appreciate the craft that goes into it.
No joke! SO much respect for these artisans. Thanks for the feedback!

TheOtherSoprano92 She was an absolute pleasure to interview! So fascinated by the art within these costumes.
They sell costume pieces at the Broadway Flea Market each September, if you wanted some memorabilia? :) I have one bow and one headband that have some of the flowers from the Il Muto sylphide costumes on them.
That's awesome! I had no idea they did that!
I am so happy this video was made , I have always been a fan of opera and seeing what happens behind the stage just makes me appreciate it more.
Elizabeth Heather So great to hear! I am always fascinated by who is being creative behind the scenes.

Thanks so much for the encouragement! I have to agree! They are amazing- if I get to be half as good as them I will be satisfied:)
@Notre Aira I still have two years of high school left but I hope so! I'm looking around at colleges :)

My favorite dress is the link dress from the masquerade
Pink
I watched the free show and later bought it because I wanted to watch it again and now whenever we can I want to go see it on Broadway. :) It's just so amazing!
My favorite is the white dressing gown Christine wears when she meets the Phantom for the first time
These dresses are just amazing! I still can't get over how much they each weighed, and how much work it takes to keep them in good shape! Thanks for watching and subscribing!

She worked so hard on this show, and it turned out so beautiful!

In love with all this!!!! Warm greetings from Greece.
I can't even begin to imagine how heavy those more elaborate dresses are.
Feeling proud of our Swedish wardrobe designer
I can only imagine Sierra Boggess wearing that beautiful blue dress. I wonder who does their dry cleaning and how often do they send them to be dry clean?
They are dry cleaned daily by Winzer. You can see the process here. ruclips.net/video/l_JXu9yUJRQ/видео.html
@@erickdupree3280 thank you for this information. I’ve been wondering about this and did not think someone would reply with some concrete information.
She did wear a dress similar to that in one performance
Please tell what is the requirement to execute this?
As much as I don't like handful of US costumes and choices of design (minimal variation in Slavegirls tiaras and chestplates or Black color in Il Muto)
I still really enjoy this costume porn! The costumes overall are stunning, Maria Björnson was really talented lady! She's one who inspired me to design!
Thanks for the awesome feedback! Maria was definitely very talented, even though I will say I have no knowledge of dress design prior to this!

On Broadway
How do they even clean those
I asked the same thing! She said they do what they can to keep them clean without really fully cleaning them:/
I would be in the phantom if I could
Hey, go for it! My friend who I interviewed in this episode went to the same small, middle of nowhere high school as me! She just wanted it badly enough and got it!
0:42 "one of...." ?? What ?? It is THE longest running--and BY FAR. (Beats 2nd place Chicago by 30%)
Does anyone know what boots the Phantom wears? Or at least the brand of boots?
I love the aminta dress and the star princess dress
Anyone else sent here from their theatre arts teacher?
phab video about a beautiful show
Thanks! It's one of my favorite shows, so we had to do an episode on it.
pov ur here because of your clothing teacher
I wish they’d redesign the Hannibal costumes. The red green stripe combo is so unattractive.
