People said that Sierra had a cold when she sang this song and that´s why she breaths so loud sometimes. I have to say that those strong inhales made the music even more dramatic and more powerful somehow.
She actually does those kind of breaths in all of her performances as far as I can tell. It definitely adds the the drama of it. I think it is intentional.
It is intentionally a narrow breath like that because of the kind of microphones they are wearing, which is very sensitive and near the singer's mouth. If their breath is too wide it adds extra noise to the performance so they train it to be "quieter".
@@Howlingburd19 she’s one of the better modern ones, agreed. Amy Manford, Elena Bahtiyarova and Kelly Mathieson are also very good. Add Meghan Picerno. But my personal all time favourite is an oldie but a goodie. Look up Rebecca Caine. More opera, less pop. But you might like her alongside Sierra.

Yeah I agree that it is probably pre-recorded. Even with mics and not having to stress and belt your voice like operas singers in the pre-modern age, hitting those notes night after night at that length is going to wreck a lot of people's voices. There are some clues on it being pre-recorded: It's the only segment in the video where Sierra isn't synced with what is being said, both at the beginning and at the end. Ramin is such a gentleman. He never actually has body touch with the actress of Christine except for that grasp of her hand... gosh I think I'm falling in love
Miranda Wong Yeah, love that too ;) But that's in general very essential for this role, since the Phantom doesn't really allow himself to touch her...Ok look how society abused him.
Ramin has gotten more and more touchy as Phantom over the years. At least when he's with Sierra. Here it was just the hand touch and the near-stroking of her face. But at the Bway Anniversary, he was making actual contact and stroking her face a lot and I heard he did it when they were singing in Japan and doing this song together during 4 stars, that he was doing the same thing. I don't know how I feel about that transformation, tbh.

For me, this is the best performance of them all. Ramin’s power both as singer and actor knocks me over and every time I hear it. Heard it at least 100 times!
I know! That’s one of my absolute favorite things about how he plays the role. And it really suits the character so well: Erik is a musician, mason, magician, mechanic/inventor, master pickpocket & thief, extremely skilled and lightning-fast killer, and also good at providing medical care as needed. What’s more, he also seems to have a soft spot for children and animals and shows the necessary gentleness and care with them. Tenderness, really! For all the power and violence he’s capable of, he can also be super delicate and restrained in his movements and has a lot of flair and elegance. In fact, besides the bits and pieces of this throughout, there was a specific passage in Susan Kay’s novel that talked about how mesmerizing and seductive his hands are in how he moves and employs them. There’s also supposed to be a general sense of rhythm and musicality in how he moves overall. I couldn’t help wondering if Ramin had actually read the book, because both his gestures and the general fluidity and smoothness he sometimes uses in moving around really suit the role of the Phantom so well! I sometimes think it looks like he’s constantly conducting the world around him and/or an unheard melody. :-p

They have srt the bar so high
I'm sorry but no. he is over acting, and over singing. He's no phantom. not like Crawford who embodies the role. I like her though. she does Christine nicely.
Trying to learn this one (just for fun)..almost have it. Ramin is definately an excellent phantom. He plays the role exactly. It is quite correct for the phantom to be possessive, demanding, controlling, and drawn to "Christine" like a magnet. Notice how in the last main verse when she has her head in his arm and is caressing his face/mask with her other hand how he catches her hand when it slides over his mask? That's the phantom basically saying "the mask is off limits no matter how much I love you" It's basically a manifestation of the phantom's insecurity and foreshadows the scene when he flies into a rage over her removing his mask. Ramin plays every detail very well. Sierra likewise plays Christine perfectly. She's curious about the phantom and uncertain of what to make of him all the while she is as much drawn to him as he is to her. Remember in the story, he's been teaching her to sing from the shadows for several years prior to him appearing behind her dressing room mirror. This is her first time seeing him and she's trying to decide if he is indeed an angel sent by her dad or something else. Hence the scene where Sierra seems to be searching his face (another commenter noticed her switching between his eyes) for some detail that might give her the answer. The pair have almost a musical "argument" as they try to make sense of one another. In the final verse of the song, he's challenging her to "sing" for a couple of reasons; 1 he's trying to goad her competitive side kind of like saying "Show me what you've got!" and 2 he wants to hear her voice (notice how Ramin clenches his fist as if he could capture her voice?) because he wants to "own" her voice in the same way one might own a piece of fine jewelry. All in all, LOVE this performance!
AWARD FOR THE MOST UNDERRATED COMMENT OF THE YEAR GOES TO..... Angela Dancy !!!!!! Yes girl. Congratss I totally agree. I absolutely love phantom and have seen the DVD with this 2 like 20 times in less than a year lol. I have also read the book by Susan Kay and spent time analyzing different parts in the musical and the hidden meanings behind each song, sentence, dialogue, or even gesture. Not because i feel like i had to but it was so interesting for me and it really captivated me so knowing the meaning behind everything that happens , every single word that is said or not , every single thing that is done or not is just really important for me. Lol
So true!! Thank you for picking this apart with us! Like how he's got her so under control by the end where she's just singing like her life depends on it!! He could hit her, and she'd sing! Or when she says "I am the mask you wear" and he steps back, almost fearfully, as if mentioning the mask is a threat. Of course he then has to counter that, and show her he's in control with "It's me they hear!". Or when he shakes as he tries to touch her/she touches him. Or as his voice cracks as he demands her to sing, because he gets so desperate! All so genius!
There's all these people praising Ramin for his voice, but can we just take a moment to appreciate Christine? Her voice is stunningly beautiful and those high notes and incredible. She is by far the best Christine I've heard.
People commenting about sierras breathing please remember shes got a very magnifying microphone on and shes a very dramatic soprano which means she uses a lot of power in each line which is probably why she breathes so much! It might also be the technique she learnt when being trained in opera :) I don't think it's that bad personally and she sings this song hauntingly
I just finished re-listening to this and... I had shivers. ACTUAL shivers down the top of my spine! I never had shivers like that! It's official! This song is haunted!
He really brings to the character the repressed anger, hate and self-loathing few others bother to. Too many actors romanticize the character. Ramin portrays the tortured, insane psychopath the story calls for.
Phantom: “Sing! Sing for me!!!” Christine: “Wtf do you think I’ve been doing for the past 3 minutes?” Edit 2024: I still personally think this is the best version of this song (and whoever thought of putting an electric guitar in this song was a total genius). Overall, it’s impossible to give any sort of negativity towards everyone who works on the stage, behind the stage, and behind the scenes. The talent is unspeakably incredible, and The Phantom of the Opera musical is a pure masterpiece :)
the way Ramin sings starting at "sing once again with me" through "grows stronger yet" is like the best thing my ears have ever heard and also HIS ACTING??? no human being should be this powerful as both a singer and an actor, especially while doing both at once
Agreed! And I'm noticing in both the 'group phantom' performances on RUclips that he's the one who does that line. I'm thinking that's far from a coincidence :)
Matthew Wong I think they mean on one hand it's great that you still have a high range, but on the other hand some people may find it strange for a boy to have such a high range
I am in LOVE with their acting, with their chemistry, with their incredible musicality, with their soaring voices and with the hand thing Ramin does! This here is the best EVER rendition of this song. Period.
To be honest and please say your peace about this but I think she even beats Sarah Brightman as the best Christine and Andrew Lloyd Webber wrote that part specifically for her did he not?
Their acting is so amazing. I love how when it showed their faces close up, you could see her switching between his eyes. Looking right into them. It feels so personal and real.
Look, I get it. Raoul is rich. Raoul is kind. Raoul doesn’t hang people. But as God as my witness, if that man sang to me like that, my legs are opening up like a new Starbucks on every corner. BELIEVE THAT.
I'm in love with these two ... The BEST Phantom and Christine EVER ....! Their chemistry is unbelievable ... Ramin is so captivating and Sierra so captivated by him ,like the audience .... I love that in the high notes she uses vibrato ,I;ve heard versions where they go straight for the notes and it comes out as a bit flat ,but not her .She's simply perfect in every way
elphbwckd Most of the times it is talent. When you go see a live opera concert, you will notice no speakers or microphones. The precision of the notes are very accurate.
I've been singing this song since high school, and this is one of the most powerful performances I've ever seen. Amazing voices, amazing chemistry. So powerful.
Haley Simpson It's not the kind of standing ovation that you were thinking. You know, the one that affects the male species. I was just appreciating good music. Besides, if it were, I would give my standing ovation to the lady. Not the guy.
This. Is. BADASS!! This is one of the most amazing performances I've seen ever. Ramin is a phenomenal Phantom. Just look at 3:22 that look he gives, like his heart skips a beat at her voice. That's true love right there. I got chills.

@@rosiesims4180 I agree about Crawford's acting (that's why I prefer Ramin's interpretation. The same for Sarah/Sierra.), but his voice was not weak. Not at all!!!

This duet is amazing. Both were born to play their roles as Christine and The Phantom. You can feel the connection between them, It's like It goes far beyond the stage. There is a lot of energy in their eyes when they look each other.
She should be used to people telling her to sing I mean she is/was Ariel in the Broadway version of The Little Mermaid and Ursula did command her to sing so she should know better.
The way Ramin sang “my power over you grows stronger yet” gave me chills! Edit: I just saw him grab her wrist when she touches his mask. Fantastic detail. Edit 2: Sierra’s high note at the end is amazing.
Dang….These two!! Oh my gosh! They both have such insanely good voices for one thing. Sierra’s high notes always shock me as well as impress me. They’re so beautiful and powerful! Then Ramin just sings with his whole being. His voice, his body movements, his emotion…The man just becomes the Phantom of the Opera! And together they sound SO incredible!!
As soon as I saw this clip, I immediately fell in love. Fell in love with the song itself, with the singer. Ramin is also on top, but Sierra, with her divine appearance and angelic voice, drove me crazy. The orchestra plays just amazing. I downloaded this video and watched it more than fifty times a day

Yes girl. Congratss
I totally agree. Lol
Thanks Ángels for such impeccable comment. Regards
I didn't know the story is actually creepy
Damn, you've perfectly captured the whole moment in such a seductive and beautiful way 😍 😍
There's all these people praising Ramin for his voice, but can we just take a moment to appreciate Christine? Her voice is stunningly beautiful and those high notes and incredible. She is by far the best Christine I've heard.
Sierra's voice is a gift, to her and to the world.
her english feels off
@@Jane-qh2yd Right? Her pronunciation on some words is just strange and I can't get past it.
@@spookymulder1204 that's because she is American
Those high notes in the end had me absolutely FLOORED. Sierra has the powerful voice of an angel, what PIPES!!
Tanvi Says Is the singing the song hauntingly bad or good?
Not that I'm criticising or anything. I just want to understand the nature of the comment.
+Josh Edwards it's good, if you listen to the lyrics it is meant to be sung in a hauntingly way.
I just finished re-listening to this and...
I had shivers. ACTUAL shivers down the top of my spine! I never had shivers like that!
It's official! This song is haunted!
Plus she was sick with a stuffed nose so uhh lol 😂😂
Oh K she has gotten a lot better
At the end when he virtually screamed sing for me and practically demanded it I near fainted from chills, he's beautiful!
I agree. Very few phantoms have the power to that. Check out the video with Nicole from the pussycat dolls sing the title song.
He really brings to the character the repressed anger, hate and self-loathing few others bother to. Too many actors romanticize the character. Ramin portrays the tortured, insane psychopath the story calls for.
clamperouge1 Agreed.
Phantom: “Sing! Sing for me!!!”
Christine: “Wtf do you think I’ve been doing for the past 3 minutes?”
Edit 2024: I still personally think this is the best version of this song (and whoever thought of putting an electric guitar in this song was a total genius).
Overall, it’s impossible to give any sort of negativity towards everyone who works on the stage, behind the stage, and behind the scenes. The talent is unspeakably incredible, and The Phantom of the Opera musical is a pure masterpiece :)

The fact she was sick singing this! Nothing can stop her from opera! She's so talented!
the way Ramin sings starting at "sing once again with me" through "grows stronger yet" is like the best thing my ears have ever heard and also HIS ACTING??? no human being should be this powerful as both a singer and an actor, especially while doing both at once
RIGHT IM SAYINGGG
Shivers everytimeI hear it. And I'm a vocalist
🎉
I don't think anyone has ever said "Sing, my Angel of Music" the way Ramin does. I love it!
Agreed! And I'm noticing in both the 'group phantom' performances on RUclips that he's the one who does that line. I'm thinking that's far from a coincidence :)
+ZainR Just that guy that sang w/ Nicole Scherzinger. And he's gorgeous.
+Lucca Cidade same person that's why
I don't think many people have ever said "Sing, my Angel of Music", period. 😂
@@brandtfan12 true, they know he’s the best when it comes to singing that line!
I am a 14 year old boy. My voice changed. I can still sing Christine's part. I feel happy.
The hell, I don't know if thats a blessing or a curse lol
What do you mean?
Matthew Wong I think they mean on one hand it's great that you still have a high range, but on the other hand some people may find it strange for a boy to have such a high range
@@eliselo9073 *shrugs
Same here. Exactly the same
For me it's not just about the music or the performer's abilities. It's also about the chemistry. This is the closest to perfect I've ever seen!
I am in LOVE with their acting, with their chemistry, with their incredible musicality, with their soaring voices and with the hand thing Ramin does! This here is the best EVER rendition of this song. Period.
Agreed! They're so amazinggg
HOW DOES SHE HAVE VIBRRATO WEN SINGING SO HIGH
Vibrato helps you sing that high... It relieves the tension on your voice, which increases while singing higher notes.
Besides, she can sing even higher than that, that's why she sings "easily" that note and adds vibrato.
Vibrato demonstates control. When I sing that high my vibrato increases dramatically just bc it requires so much control up there.
Maura_The_Mango or you talking about the ones that go down there- or im tripping
@@jamyamichellejones.4331 Huh?

Lady Raynes.. My Favorite Musical.

hers did ? what about the male hammer ?
I dont know if she is rushing or the music is dragging or perhaps visa versa
alex chalakee And Ramins voice blew out about every female in the audience, let’s be honest
Ramin Karimloo is just the best Phantom. The guys voice is insanely good. The way this song ends... Superhuman Sierra
Sierra Boggess still has the most impressive wail at the end out of any Christine I've ever heard. In just pitch and sheer power. Beautiful.
Noah R. de Luzuriaga agreed. Brightman has the best opera voice but Sierra has that softness that embodies Christine better
Noah R. de Luzuriaga her melisma is kinda pitchy but I think her voice soothes Christine's innocence.
Atiqah Diyana
Noah R. de Luzuriaga lmao at the use of the word "wail" though 😂😂
A not too known fact is that Sierra and Ramin are pretty much best friends irl so-
Look, I get it. Raoul is rich. Raoul is kind. Raoul doesn’t hang people.
But as God as my witness, if that man sang to me like that, my legs are opening up like a new Starbucks on every corner. BELIEVE THAT.
I cannot agree with you more♥♥♥
Yeah Ramin's voice got me ovulating like crazy and I'm male. Fuck if I know what's going on.

Take a moment and let the fact that she did this live …. While sick 😳😳 She’s one exceedingly beautiful powerhouse!!
Holy shit, this is amazing!
The chemistry between them is perfect

I'm in love with these two ... The BEST Phantom and Christine EVER ....! Their chemistry is unbelievable ... Ramin is so captivating and Sierra so captivated by him ,like the audience .... I love that in the high notes she uses vibrato ,I;ve heard versions where they go straight for the notes and it comes out as a bit flat ,but not her .She's simply perfect in every way
Having said that, I wonder how he'd sound with the goddess that is Amy Manford.
whenever the end notes come I get scared because I feel like something is gonna break or they're like gonna faint
Veni Vidi Amavi good thing its all prerecorded in a normal performance then. Nothing can go wrong.
In this case she legit hit that note. ;)
LOL
Veni Vidi Amavi doesn’t it sound like the chandelier is gonna fall over that note.
elphbwckd Most of the times it is talent. When you go see a live opera concert, you will notice no speakers or microphones. The precision of the notes are very accurate.
ramin could run me over in a car wearing the phantom costume and id thank him
😂😂😝😋
NO ONE r/woosh (welcome to stan language)

He could run me over wearing flip flops and a hefty bag and I'd thank him
If he isn't the sexiest phantom of all times I don't know what this world is anymore
Dude emotional manipulation is so sexy
C C Agreeded
Antonio Banderas too!
As an "old-school" Phantom fan, I consider Ramin the rightful successor to Michael Crawford......
gerard butler is sexy too omg
I've been singing this song since high school, and this is one of the most powerful performances I've ever seen. Amazing voices, amazing chemistry. So powerful.
Whenever Ramin sings as the Phantom, I get chills and turned on at the same time. And that's how you KNOW he's the best Phantom.
Whenever he sings, I AM Christine
I just gave them a standing ovation in my sitting room..amazing
hunny hes married and has two boys
+Haley Simpson the heck does that have to do with cheering for him
+Marie C it dont matter
Haley Simpson It's not the kind of standing ovation that you were thinking. You know, the one that affects the male species. I was just appreciating good music.
Besides, if it were, I would give my standing ovation to the lady. Not the guy.
Mzee Antoh i just relized that this comment was on the wrong post
This. Is. BADASS!! This is one of the most amazing performances I've seen ever. Ramin is a phenomenal Phantom. Just look at 3:22 that look he gives, like his heart skips a beat at her voice. That's true love right there.
I got chills.
Great acting yeah
Coucou mon amour 😍

Too bad he's done with POTO, completely

I love how Ramin draws out the “stronger” in “grows stronger yet” in this version.
Wow, she sang so high something exploded.... Or someone, as the case maybe.
It was a bird if you catch my drift
Amil Reed an intellectual
I think I know what you are talking about
It made the pyrotechnics explode!
Sierra is so blessed. She is beautiful, sweet and has an amazing voice! And both of them are amazing as Christine and the Phantom
This is basically a daily ritual for me. I legit drop everything just to be able to watch it every single day.
hey Army
I love the fact that there are Army's in every youtube video I watch
armys with good musical taste
OMG SAME!!!
These two are probably the best actors I’ve seen in these roles in terms of acting performance. I feel like I see more distinct choices and nuances in every number.
if Ramin Karimloo ordered me around in that tone of voice.....yes I would hit those notes no questions asked...."Sing..my angel of music!!" me:how high
mine would be gerard butler
Same!!! Even though I already I can.
+Haley Simpson really? Gerard over Ramin? (Not meaning it disrespectfully just interested in why you have that opinion)
indiajessierocks honestly because gerard didnt need to be trained to sing he just did.
Gerald maybe didn't have to be trained but Ramin has a better voice (that's just my opinion, anyway). But I love both of them as phantoms.
Sierra Boggess was born to play the role of Christine Daae
emily lucas tell me....ever heard of Emmy Rossum?

This is musical theater - not opera. They're quite different.
Sierra is the best Christine and Ramin is the best Phantom.... at least considering their vocal skills
Love them SO much, but don't forget the unforgettable first Phantom, Michael Crawford. He can take a note for sooo long.
@P F I think she's very good also as an actress, that's why her Christine is so vivid.
Never rated Crawford very weak voice and his portrayal was very feminine, in my opinion of course. Ramin and Sierra are the best Phantom and Christine, again only in my opinion having seen many productions😁

Man how do these singers breathe.
Like all good things in life, in and out.

RUclips Passerby he definitely means sex
RUclips Passerby and yours means happenstance sex? Lol!
I no
Ramin is the best phantom by far, his vocals are just chilling
Ramin's gestures during this make it all the better, he's literally gesturing for her how to sing,,,
She should be used to people telling her to sing I mean she is/was Ariel in the Broadway version of The Little Mermaid and Ursula did command her to sing so she should know better.
Rman lmao YES!
If Ramin looked at me the way he looked at Sierra during this I would probably melt
Me too
I squeaked a bit when Ramin said "sing, my angel of music".
God, he's perfect.
They're amazing.
Dou you want to have a succesful singing + acting moment? Put Ramin in it. Do you want even a more successful one? Put Sierra with him.
