Knowing the my best friend relationships I know we'd laugh all the way through rehearsals.😂😂😂 I love that they have that though you can definitely feel the connection and trust between them and it's gorgeous to watch and hear.

I feel you. The movie is what got me interested in phantom but it wasn't until I watched the 25th anniversary that i became obsessed and now I hate the movie, particularly Gerard Butler. I like Emmy but she's now my 8th favorite Christine and Sierra's my top favorite. Ramin is my top favorite for phantoms but Gerard doesn't even register on my favorites list anymore.

I agree to all of that. I read where she was hand-picked by Sir Webber himself because he felt that with her singing and acting skills, she was /is the total embodiment of Christine. Consider, out of 1000s of women who would have killed to play Christine on the 25th Anniversary POTO, he chose her. I also read where JOJ, was 1st on the list, but was doing Les Miz at the time.

When Sierra Boggess sings this solo number from The Phantom of the Opera, I feel as if I am witnessing PERFECTION being sustained infinitely throughout the song, suspending time, itself, and filling in all sense of space. She is Christine personified in perfection.
When Ramin Karimloo starts singing as the Phantom, his voice sends out electrifying shocks of erotic fantasy. The stage chemistry between him and Sierra in this musical is simply spell-binding theater magic. It is an exceptionally rare fusion of artistic talents who seem to bond even at the vibratory molecular level. During the first time I saw them together at the RAH performance to celebrate the musical's 25th anniversary, I was stunned, astounded, amazed and electrified by them.
They are the artists and performers who are described beyond description by two word -- LEGENDARY GREATS.

All that you dreamed I could

    You were warm and gentle
Too many years fighting back tears
Why can't the past just die?

I had the opportunity to see Phantom when it came to my town with a classmate of mine but she didn't want to pay the ticket prices. We wanted to sit in the balcony but the tickets were around $100 or up but I should've just went by myself because I've always wanted to see this show. So I decided to go see it by myself when it comes back to town this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me.

I don't understand how people like movie Phantom better than this. I saw this live, and Sierra literally looked bored while hitting the notes at the end of the title song. Her voice is perfect. Nobody in the movie version was a singer except Emmy Rossum (who does not have a Christine voice) and they only hired Gerard because he was famous and would bring in fans. No matter ho you look at it, Broadway puts the mmovie to shame.

Its the acting and he chemistry which is better in the film. The voices yes are overall better but acting and chemistry is so important for the phantom of the opera as well - for the phantom is such a unique character. But we talking about two goods not either being bad.

    • @Eleglas
      @Eleglas 9 лет назад +38

mrssalina Really? I'd disagree there. I think Ramin is THE best phantom there ever was, he has a power to him I've never seen in any other and it really shows with Sierra. The way he moves, controlling her, obviously it is well rehearsed but it still has incredible impact to me. And I always thought they did have great chemistry together, more so than with the guy who played Raoul, I forget the name.

Emmy Rossum has plenty of practice singing. She could sing in all twelve keys when she was younger and was selected for the Metropolitan Opera children's choir. She has done other things as well and I don't believe the same type of soprano as this lady.
This lady has a lot of experience from Les Mis to Phantom of the Opera and is the original leading lady for the sequel. She originated the role of Ariel on Broadway and a whole list of other things. She has done Phantom numerous times. Obviously she is thought of as a very good singer. "Boggess began teaching various musical theater master classes and began to workshop an upcoming musical adaptation of the 1998 film Ever After." I'm afraid many in here don't have the expertise to critique either of these singers who are both equally wonderful.

Can we not only take a moment to admire how amazingly talented Sierra is (as well as Ramin) for their singing alone, but on top of that, to go from "Wishing you were somehow here again," which is an incredibly emotional song, and then to jump right into "Phantom of the Opera" with only a moment between to recover and get into the mentality of the next song. That's talent. I can just imagine them asking her, "which one do you want to do first?" and her saying, "It's going to be a difficult transition either way."

This song will always make me cry. I discovered Phantom thru the movie and it came out only 2 years after my dad died. My dad was always my angel of music, always, he loved showing me music and explaining the simplicity or the complexity of whatever was playing, the different instruments, the differing chords, and how badass anything played in Minor sounded. At sixteen I sat down and watched what I didn't know was a musical..... and from the overture on forward, I wished desperately that he was there with me to get goosebumps from the music too! I knew he would have appreciated all the different voices, whether human or instrumental, and how they created such music. Then when Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again came on, I sobbed, I connected, felt my Daddy with me, and fell in love with Phantom of the Opera.
Oh, Christine, I know your grief. I'm a hard line Raoul fan, simply because of how the Phantom manipulated her grief and her fragility.
