When Sierra Boggess sings this solo number from The Phantom of the Opera, I feel as if I am witnessing PERFECTION being sustained infinitely throughout the song, suspending time, itself, and filling in all sense of space. She is Christine personified in perfection. When Ramin Karimloo starts singing as the Phantom, his voice sends out electrifying shocks of erotic fantasy. @Ihdc1 Same here!! Let's not forget that the role of Christine was written FOR Sarah Brightman. In 90s I watched an old VHS tape of behind the scenes. That's funny, Marissa! :) :) I have a feeling there were multiple spontaneous pregnancies for a lot of people--including me, and I'm not even female!! :)
Can we not only take a moment to admire how amazingly talented Sierra is (as well as Ramin) for their singing alone, but on top of that, to go from "Wishing you were somehow here again," which is an incredibly emotional song, and then to jump right into "Phantom of the Opera" with only a moment between to recover and get into the mentality of the next song. That's talent. I can just imagine them asking her, "which one do you want to do first?" and her saying, "It's going to be a difficult transition either way."
sobbing. breathtaking. so inspirational for a young artists. this is my dream role. about to embark on a journey to study musical theatre in Manhattan and i couldn't be happier
This is a brilliant and intensely moving performance. Sierra not only has an amazing voice but the acting ability to convey the emotion of the music. In my humble opinion that is the difference between art and mere performance. Ramin and Sierra together are pure magic.
I was never a fan of this musical until I saw the televised production that this is from. I felt like it finally made sense. She is stunning in this. But it was Ramin Karimloo’s Phantom that pulled it all together for me. He made the character make sense. Sexy yet imperious and also insecure and frightened, thus terrifying.
This young lady hs become my favorite singer. Her voice is unmatched among all the women who have sung for Andrew Lloyd Webber. This song is absolutely beautiful and I listen to it every day. Perfection comes to mind when I think about Sierra.
Emmy Rossum has plenty of practice singing. She could sing in all twelve keys when she was younger and was selected for the Metropolitan Opera children's choir. She has done other things as well and I don't believe the same type of soprano as this lady. This lady has a lot of experience from Les Mis to Phantom of the Opera and is the original leading lady for the sequel. She originated the role of Ariel on Broadway and a whole list of other things. She has done Phantom numerous times. Obviously she is thought of as a very good singer. "Boggess began teaching various musical theater master classes and began to workshop an upcoming musical adaptation of the 1998 film Ever After." I'm afraid many in here don't have the expertise to critique either of these singers who are both equally wonderful.
MissCreepyPasta Butler fits the character better - you really see and feel him as the Phantom. Joback is a guy who sings good but you don't feel the phantom's soul and passion from him.
I was singing along but even as a first soprano I'm not going to even think about attempting the ending. (Christine is a dream role but maybe someday I'll get that ending without screaming). So much respect to anyone who plays Christine.
I don't understand how people like movie Phantom better than this. I saw this live, and Sierra literally looked bored while hitting the notes at the end of the title song. Her voice is perfect. Nobody in the movie version was a singer except Emmy Rossum (who does not have a Christine voice) and they only hired Gerard because he was famous and would bring in fans. No matter ho you look at it, Broadway puts the mmovie to shame.
Its the acting and he chemistry which is better in the film. The voices yes are overall better but acting and chemistry is so important for the phantom of the opera as well - for the phantom is such a unique character. But we talking about two goods not either being bad.
mrssalina Really? I'd disagree there. I think Ramin is THE best phantom there ever was, he has a power to him I've never seen in any other and it really shows with Sierra. The way he moves, controlling her, obviously it is well rehearsed but it still has incredible impact to me. And I always thought they did have great chemistry together, more so than with the guy who played Raoul, I forget the name.
4:32 - so interesting to see the bow work on the cellos.... that background rhythm is one of the things that always struck me in the recordings so thank you for showing how it was accomplished!
Yesterday, the 17th of April 2020 I watched the anniversary performance of Phantom filmed At The Albert Hall in 2017 ! I have to admit I'd seen it before and had no idea what it was about but it memerised me ! Firstly the brilliant Wendy Ferguson but then by Sierra who I just can't believe I'd never heard of ! Now I see that this amazing performance has been watched over FIVE MILLION times and that every man adores her as much as I do !
the most powerfull duet i've ever heard. awsome acting awsome voices, can't stop watching .... the way she inhales the air between the phrases ....magicall
My mom's mom and dad's dad passed this past year, separated by 10 months. Listening to Wishing you were somehow here again helps me remember them. And cry.
My favorite opera ever. I was in my 30S when he wrote this. My children were in middle school at the time. They know every song. A few years ago my daughter surprised us with tickets to the play. It was wonderful. I lost my dad in 2008. I still miss his quiet wisdom.
Ramon is my favorite is because he has a voice that carries a slightly antagonistic personality. That makes him fit into the character perfectly, the phantom who is a little mad, a little evil but mostly powerful showing his control-freak personality because he is so deeply in love. All of which is clearly portrayed by rami 's voice. The previous phantoms are simply too protagonist.
I went to go see this show with my mother a month after her father died. Needless to say, we were both bawling at "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again," especially her. That song still gives me chills every time I hear it, and Sierra is absolutely incredible.
finally realized, after sleeping and dreaming the song and thankfully noting that people here are as obsessed as I've become, the phantom of the opera is definitely inside my mind and is not leaving anytime soon.
I've listened to this an unhealthy amount of times.

All that you dreamed I could
Passing bells and sculpted angels

Too many years fighting back tears
Why can't the past just die?
Wishing you were somehow here again
Knowing we must say, "Goodbye"
Try to forgive, teach me to live

No more memories, no more silent tears
No more gazing across the wasted years

And though you turn from me
To glance behind

It's me they hear
Your/my spirit and your/my voice
In one combined
The Phantom of the Opera is there
Inside your/my mind
He's there
The Phantom of the Opera

I wish I could sing like this angel,I sound like a dying horse but I can still dream that someday I'll get into musical theater can't I?
Georgie Raymond lol, I sound like a baby being stomped on by a horse😂
Kieran Iola Castro I sound like a baby being stomped by a dying horse :P
Georgie Raymond I sound like a dying walrus lol
gerard butler and emmy rossum were good...sierra and ramin are amazing, incredible, fan...you get where im going with this
my god! Gerard Butler? Leonidas is better left to fighting.
I wish my parents were still here, They went to heaven way too soon.
mine too! i guess what you mean... unfortunately :(
Raminʻs voice is killing me. I just want him for Christmas, if thatʻs not too much to ask for.
the 25th anniversary of phantom at royal albert hall was the best production of the show in history. no other production will ever compare to it
Sierra's voice is liquid gold
Mindblowing. Sierra Bogges is up with the best ever. What a pleasure. We love you, Sierra!!!
Ramin’s last “SING FOR ME” got me pregnant lmao
FUCKIN MOOD
When you get impregnated with three words 🤰🤰🤰
That's funny, Marissa! :) :) I have a feeling there were multiple spontaneous pregnancies for a lot of people--including me, and I'm not even female!! :)
BASED
What is even more extraordinary, is that Sierra was suffering from a heavy cold when she did this performance
The fact she had a cold and still sung this effortlessly just shows how talented she is 🤩🤩🤩
They both are so good together. And the wig thatshe wearing is better most that i've seen.
That's her real hair :) She talks about what a hassle it is to do every night in an interview ^^
it is my favorite wig of all time! I wish they would use it more often
My daughter and I saw this show on Broadway probably 25 years ago. It was amazing then I love the music. Thank you for sharing.
She is amazing, but THE TWO OF THEM TOGETHER OMGG!!!! PERFECTION AT ITS ABSOLUTE FINEST!!!!
I think Sierra and Ramin are the best Phantom and Christine I've seen xxx
I’ve just been to the musical here in London and it wasssssss incredible❤❤❤ I totally recomand it
this is why i dont get any sleep at night. I stay up listening to phantom of the opera :)
nobody compares to sierra in this role. she takes all the best parts of the past interpretations of christine, adds to them and makes them better.
i really enjoy the fact that their staging ( "choreo" if you will ) is actually for Music of the Night.
some powerful voices! OMG
Sierra and Ramin are awesome together on stage. Their voices are ones that I can listen to continually and not grow tired of them.
This high note at the end is insane!!!
She’s amazing. Makes it look so easy. So clean. Perfection.
Best phantom of the opera performance she's done
damn is her voice good
That's why they call her a "professional singer" LOL
She knew, but if she wish to excel...
Sierras better though, any one on Broadway or the west end are better than the movie cast
Yes peter joback is an amazing phantom actually and is far superior to Gerard butler
Wait so you think Gerard Butler is better than peter joback? LOL!
There is a reason why he was on Broadway you know..t
MissCreepyPasta Butler fits the character better - you really see and feel him as the Phantom. Joback is a guy who sings good but you don't feel the phantom's soul and passion from him.
John Owen Jones fits the perfect phantom, Gerard sure he displayed good emotion, but its his voice I hate he cant sing.
Saw Phantom of the Opera at the West End. One word - spectacular!!! Love Ramin and Sierra.
“Sometimes it seemed if I just dreamed, somehow you would be here.”
That line is beautiful
Melanie R. I believe it’s “Sometimes it seemed, if I just dreamed, somehow you would be here.”
@@ryan3136 Thank you for correcting me, I had to search it up to be sure, and what the heck, how did I hear it so wrong?
yes. very beautiful
I was singing along but even as a first soprano I'm not going to even think about attempting the ending. (Christine is a dream role but maybe someday I'll get that ending without screaming). So much respect to anyone who plays Christine.
kept pressing replay button.. :P
me too!, I keep pressing replay. she is unbelievable!, and he is too...
Wonderfull performance! I ve seen her live, she's magnificent! I've never heard a better 'Christine', Sierra is the best!😮
Sierra and Ramin, best best best Christine and Ramin EVER.
Also, have to say seeing the stage direction for Music of the Night applied to Phantom of the Opera is quite cool!
I've been listening to this for 3 years now. And I'm still amazed every time I see it. 😅❤
Literally perfection.
This is great! Ramin and Sierra are a great combination!
Girl PREACH!
Live, "Phantom of the Opera" is recorded so Christine doesn't have to hit the high E 7 or 8 shows a week.
I might be mistaken. For this performance it doesn't sound like it's recorded.
I can't stop watching this. What an astonishing performance.
This song give's me chill's when i hear it...i don't even know why. but i love that feeling.
Me too! Dont worry your not alone xD
this production was stunning- and the best relationship between two actors in this show ever- finally a sexy phantom!!!!!!
Damn that flipaflip at 2:45. I just loved how she pulled the stunt it's stunning
Without a doubt, the premier singer in musicals today. What an amazing talent
I love how Im showing off this beautiful piece of music on high volume at home on my Bose Home Speaker 500
6:48 Their chemistry is very enchanting to watch..
huaLANHUAhua Takes practise
No words for how good this performance is...Goosebumps and tears
Ramin and Sierra would make a great couple both have beautiful voices
She's already engaged though...
And he's married and has two kids... I SHIP THEM THOUGH
They have a good chemistry xD
bittersweetcaroline Do you know how dumb that sounds?
Sierra your a natural actress and a voice like no other on this planet earth we all cherish you in Australia and everywhere ❤️ ♥️ 💖
This performance is so engaging. It literally gave me chills. Brava!
My mom's mom and dad's dad passed this past year, separated by 10 months. Listening to Wishing you were somehow here again helps me remember them. And cry.
Truly sorry for your loss..
I'm sooooooooooo sorry about your grandparents
Sorry for your loss
I liked how Ramin and Sierra worked in some of the choreography they usually do for the Music of the Night as they sang the title song.
Can't stop watching this....
That was a beautiful performance Sierra Boggess.🌸🌹🌸🌹🌸🌹🌸🌹🌸🌹🌸🌹🌹🌸🌹🌸🌹🌸
When Sierra sings the whole world is shaking! i love her voice it gives me goosebumps. The best Christine ever.
