      I have a Silverado Z71 with the 5.3.
      The DFM scares a lot of people, but honestly I think DFM is an engineering marvel. At least cylinder deactivation systems have come a long way since the 1985 Cadillac 4-6-8 engine. Buying any brand is a gamble these days. Governments slapping unreasonable emissions restrictions on auto manufacturers has destroyed the chance of getting a truly long lasting reliable vehicle. I believe GM builds trucks the average working man can afford. Raptors and alike are expensive toys that a majority are simply not privileged enough to own. I have come to love what I can afford to buy instead of wishing for something better. No one should be ashamed for owning a vehicle that is not the best. Love it, fix it, and keep exploring.

      @@GarageHeads I have owned nearly nothing but GM and Chevy cars and trucks. You likely won't have problems with them if you do the required maintenance. It's not a big deal. As with any vehicle if you don't beat it to death and you do the maintenance the vehicle should last you a long time. I have had a few of my Chevy's a 1977 Impala station wagon got 530,000 miles out of it and I had a 1993 Silverado with 385,000 before I got rid of it. The thing I strongly recommend is you do no other maintenance is change the oil. Change it with full synthetic at 50% oil life on the cars computer, that will go a long way in making the vehicle last a long time.

    I have a 2024 with 23,000 miles and haven't had any of these issues. I typically average 20 mpg over a tank of fuel. I have gotten on the odd occasion 26 mpg and never gotten lower that 18 mpg. Transmission has been smooth. No paint issues no leaks or oil consumption issues. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Frankly anyone can do videos like this and highlight negatives on any brand. Buy what you like Ford Chevy Dodge all make great trucks. Buy your favorite.

    Retirees can not get in and out of pickups anymore! Knee replacements, hip surgery, same day surgery, etc! We have been a 2 truck family for over 50 years and we love our trucks! The new ones are absolutely crazy impractical. You always had the option to jack them up and make them 4 wheel drive. We have been married over 50 years and we still enjoy what we call tailgate picnics....if you could only sit on the tailgate without a step stool! Most work trucks don't need all the electronics for normal use and they should be optional equipment. We used to trade every 2 years but we now have trucks going on 20 years old. We are looking at this time for one new truck.its not going to happen....crazy prices, poor quality and they are painfully uncomfortable. You have let us down!

    • @NikkiDD-h7o
      @NikkiDD-h7o 3 месяца назад

      What's impractical is people buying trucks when they don't need them. If you don't live on a farm/ranch , in a place with bad winters/lots of snow or use it for work/ tradesman than you don't need a truck. And if your retired , and don't go off-roading or anything I mentioned before, why do you need a truck? It's a want not a need. Like everything else humans do or buy, it's usually a want and not a need. And chevy trucks have thw worst power. I've worked in the trades for over 10 years and have done most of trade work, and ram trucks have the best power, ford's are cheap and break down to often. And toyota and nissan trucks are meant for small framed people. And not nice trucks at all.

      @judyopp7485 2 месяца назад

      @@NikkiDD-h7o Severe back problems in younger years made riding in a truck more comfortable for me. My husband has always needed a truck for work and we live in rural midwest. I drove the new truck for 2 years and then he took it for work and I broke in the new truck. We have fished and camped since our first truck in 1973. I am now 72 and never feel closer to God than having supper on our truck tailgate and reading our bible a bit before we walk off supper at our favorite state park....hope to be doing this for at least 10 more years! Are we rednecks...not really...we just like trucks. We come from a time of hauling sheet rock and lumber to totally remodel our 100+ year old home, hauling trees to plant, rock to shovel for our driveway, helping friends and family move, helping get firewood for homecoming bonfires, throwing a jon boat in the back to stock the freezer with fish for the winter. We have always bought a truck because we use them. The new trucks are not user friendly with their new high build and all the electronics that are not optional. Just my opinion...from a truck lady.

    He is right these trucks ride smooth as silk which is why I love my 24 Sierra w/ mini duramax. I've always test ridden ford and dodge trucks but always went with gm. Dodge and Ford have always been underwhelming to drive. Fords always seem too "tinny" and cheap. Spotty quality, my neighbors ford truck saw the dealer every 2 months because he would come home with a loaner. Mine never went the dealership. My '18 Denali burned ZERO oil after every 7,500 miles, 6.2L too, I disabled my AFM so I don't have any more lifter issues. That was a problem but no longer! GM took the AFM starting 2022 engines, the problem just went away forever. And the torque converter issues were only on the 6 and 8 speed transmissions, The new 10 speed replaces those.

      The new 10 speed trans is WAY better trans...not heard of many problems, you can't hardly even feel it shift. My 6.2L motor has 134k miles, doesn't burn a DROP of oil! That's what happens when you use only the best oils, Mobil one synthetic, and do your own oil changes that way you know it gets done right.
