Tonight on 1911 Syndicate: The AZ Yeti thinks the harsh Texas winter is springtime, Jake makes a Glock 17 sound like a choking duck,, and Crispy sees the sky for the first time....
Simple answer is : yes I know my staccato xc really improved my shooting. But it also helped me improve on what I was do wrong on my less expensive guns as well.
"$500 vs $4500 vs $9000 Pistols - Who Wins?" When you begin to attend USPSA matches you will see who wins. It's all CZs for normal people and 2011s for lawyers/ doctors etc. CZ shadow 2s are the most performance per dollar of that lot. You could argue that there are some striker fired competition guns out there that could do well in this context but really I feel like most people do well with them in spite of the fact that they might be able to improve with a CZ or a 2011.
Great vid as usual. I think a forth pistol in the $1500-$2500 range(LTT, BUL, Stacatto, ect) would make this more interesting, considering that is the upper range that most people can afford and are more common.
@@officecomputer8887 there’s no way you can’t see how passive aggressive and sarcastic your comment looks. Both negative attributes. Get fucking real lol.
I would be interested in this concept but if you kept with the same type of platform. Glock to a shadow systems to an agency to a Zev etc. or a different platform entirely.
I got a used Infinity a few years back. It was build for a left handed shooter. As a righthanded shooter myself i know the feeling of dropping a mag from these guns. The mag catch is simply buttery smooth. It takes ZERO force to activate the mag catch. Got the gun and had it rebuild the first day. Happy i got it, its a keeper
Fun video! Sure seemed like the Fowler gave a noticeable advantage, while the open gun definitely hit diminishing returns. Only thing I would have like to see different (and I realize this really wasn’t the point of the video) is to use a pistol you’re each more familiar with in a lower price range rather than the Glock; like Chris with his HK and Jake with a Bul-Armory. Anyway still great! 👍
they are both dotted guns with essentially the same trigger...so realistically as those are the two biggest factors to performance the open gun WOULD NOT produce anything other than that...diminishing returns. I'm not sure what round the Fowler shoots, but if it's 9mm then the returns are bigger than you think. You'd have to put a cartridge in than gun that would produce major PF, and without a comp that sucka is gonna move around. there's also some skill involved in moving into the open side of the sport only taken advantage of due to the nature of the guns and the division itself. essentially zero reloading and much more "run and gun," all of which the design is made to make easier. the two biggest factors in pistol performance are sights and trigger, and people shoot dots and SA, lighter pull triggers better and faster by default. Since you're judging based soley on essentially those two factors it's why you see the smaller jump between the mid and top tier guns, but open guns are SIGNIFICANTLY faster in the sport.
I tried to tell people! The gun does make you a better shooter. Doesn’t mean you can shoot better than someone else but you can shoot better than yourself! People got mad when I said that but it’s facts!
As a Glock 19 owner and the rest of my guns are Wilson, Nighthawk and a Cabot on on order, seems like the Glock gives you 80% of the results at 10 to 15 times less cost?
Absolutely awesome video, especially with Mr. Strayer's input. However I knew an open gun (and infinity nonetheless) would have alot of comments from people who don't understand them.
Next time shoot the first gun last as well. As you said, you warmed up to the stage, so that glock time could be unfairly low. Not saying it’s beating the others, but could be closer than the numbers show
they do deserve way more viewers than they have. I think the BATTLE WOOKIE should pull the arms off a unicorn...but I just graduated with a humanities degree from...shit...bud light just called about a job interview. -YOU FCKERS NEVER KNEW ME OK?
I'm still a firm believer in the concept of consistent training will make a bigger difference than the overall cost of a firearm. I won't deny that a more expensive pistol will elevate your capability but dead is dead when the shooter is 100% skill.
Some gems in there about competition tuning. Would love to here him give in depth explanations on shit and the history…. I have a Cz czechmate to play around with
Would like to see similar setups run again. G45 with Radian Ramjet and RDS, mid tier with similar, then the open gun. I expect the Open Gun will remain the best, but people underestimate just how great the gains can be with better equipment.
Great video fellas, one thing though you ran the glock first on all the test probably should’ve switched the orders up because repetitions are actual thing so the Glock was at even more of disadvantage.
Well the cheap gun should have at least had a red dot on it, it should have been the MOS version and probably should have been a 34 MOS. Not a real 1v1v1.
Haven't watched the video but I know the answer is yes, take a Staccato or XC, it will hide your flaws and make you shoot better than what you really can due to the great trigger and weight that helps reduce recoil/muzzle flip
I remember the first time i shot an open gun. I said this feels like cheating and the dude just grinned. And the comps sounds like lasers if you in the next bay over.
I feel like a high end striker gun with a dot in the mix would be interesting no external safety so slight time savings but with a much better trigger then a standard glock
Open Major guns are for sure just too loud jeez lol ! Dude was competition training with his 9 Major Limcat in the stall next to me today indoors while I was doing the same with my P320 Max. I was so appreciative when he switched to his 9mm 1911. Expensive guns with serious recoil management tech definitely have marginal gains particularly in competition with the major vs minor scoring handicap ( ie: you can spazz out a bit more in major and still get a higher OA score ) . However, for practical purposes , I can shoot my cheapest OR striker almost as well as my $5000 pistol with a non - recip dot cause it’s all about ya know …the training n’ stuff

I belive you should have used an MOS glock with similar optic to other guns for a more fair comparison, this way you mixed in a comparison of irons vs optics.
GM is division level, so the standard for where you'd use that glock to reach GM status is slower than say an Open Division GM. It's actually harder to reach GM in the faster divisions because of the little room for error. Also most guys don't shoot stock Glocks so it's not really a good representation...although I know a few guys that could make GM in production with a stock glock.
