I found a trunk like that at my local flea market. My dad helped me add a base and legs, and a plexiglass top. It's now my coffee table and I get so many compliments 😁
Clicked a suggested video of you and ended up watching half of your videos nonstop! Omg you’re so talented and creative. And I love that you actually experiment and show that some things don’t go the way it was planned, “That didn’t work, let me think of an alternative..” You’re amazing
I love the trunk idea. I have an old trunk in my basement and this is great for my new black and white room. The pillow ideas you do on your channel are incredible. Thank you so much for sharing your creative side with us. It is so fun to do it yourself.
I have a big trunk just like that in a splotchy wooden look but I wouldn’t dare paint it. It was my dads that he bought when I was little, to carry his clothes in when he went off to work. I am freshly 52 now and can still remember it. And he passed away when I was 16. I kept my kids (grow into) clothes in it. Thanks for the memory. I loved your projects 💟
i'm 59 and when I was 16 my mama gave me a domed topped trunk with the tray inside. on the inside there was a picture of an old scene and the date 1845. It was first purchased as a hope chest new in 1845 for my however many greats grandmother and had been passed down from mother to daughter ever since.
Really clever with the pillow cover!!!! Love it! And choosing black and textured white on the crate made it really pop. Refreshing to find unique makeovers that don't involve white chalk paint and sand paper.
The trunk that you bought was the exact type that my parents sent me off to college with. Mine was red! I was very impressed with what a coat of paint did for it, and loved it when you styled the trunk. Your pillow was a great idea, too. No favorite, since both are so well done and so cute!
After you get the rust off, you should use a rust inhibitor. It essentially bonds with the rust to neutralize it. Then prime with a self etching primer. I used this on some rusty basement windows before I painted and they still look great 2 years later.
Great idea ! I love your videos MaCenna you are absolutely amazing how you sew, glue and turn things around for a great value too ! Keep up the good work , i always get some good tips from watching you XO !!!
I seen a trunk on sale that was online in pretty good condition already but not exactly in the colors I wanted. The trunk contained a wood fitted shelf inside. I happen to see your makeover, jumped back online and bought it! Thank you for this video. You did an awesome job, your trunk & pillows look beautiful! 👍🙂
Love it!! Will try to do the pillow today . Ive been watching almost with all of your videos especially at night time. It’s inspiring and relaxing.Thank you
I wonder how do you wash your pillows? Since You can't take the cover off, do you throw the whole thing in the washing machine or do you never wash them?
Cath Packard I know! 😩 I like in San Diego and I've NEVER been to a flea market that is that good and that affordable, I love staying on budget but man they sure make it hard!
Love love love the pillow! I love the look of mudcloth, has so much texture! I made a really long lumbar pillow using 2 sm lumbar pillow inserts, sewed together at the short ends, making it very long and a mudcloth looking rug. I love your decor style! Black and mud cloth are my 2 of my favs! BTW I love your vids! Can't wait for Sunday's! LOL.
Loved the case revamp the best, not so keen on the wool running stitch and frill with the charcoal yarn, although it does help pull it together, I would have preferred a monochrome pillow with the two different fabrics but given a thumbs up as it’s all such a brilliant makeover
Wowwww they all turned out so amazing! I’ve been wanting to make those stackable tables for a while but that dresser turned out soooo beautiful especially😍😍😍😍
New Sub! They were BOTH my favorite! I love the Rose Bowl Flea Market! And I never get over there enough (I’m from OC so it’s a small drive) but I’ve been looking everywhere for a darn trunk. I have one that has a fabric on it that I’m thinking of taking off. It I’m scared! Lol
XO, MaCenna thank you! great idea! I will for sure try that. My mom is the creative one in our family and I’m just getting into thrifting/upcycling (had to wait for my patience level to grow lol) as well as wood working and now I’m so obsessed. I’ve already completely revamped my living room and added a new console table (that I made) and little finds from thrift stores that I’ve cleaned up or painted or whatever. Now I’m making shelves and a counter for my laundry room so it’s more inviting than two machines and a few walls lol. Sorry for rambling. I’ve been watching all your videos and you are so talented. Good luck with everything!
Hi from Temple,Texas .I love the pillow it looks very high end and it look like it would cost well over 100 dollars..So in right now. Love your creativity and your thriftiness. Love your style.Be blessed.
Hi!! Welcome to the fam! I either reuse an insert from a pillow I don’t want any more or get 2 inserts from ikea to make the pillow plumper .. I think at ikea they are around $3-$4 each. Also you can look for pillows on clearance to buy and use the insert 🥰

I am doing the exact same thing. I just love her and her projects!
I love the trunk idea. I have an old trunk in my basement and this is great for my new black and white room. The pillow ideas you do on your channel are incredible. Thank you so much for sharing your creative side with us. It is so fun to do it yourself.
I love that you went with black for the metal on the trunk, it mimics the black line work art that you already have
The PILLOW!!! You must have a degree in decorating cause you know what your doing!!! Love what you can do with a little of nothing!!
Thank you so much 😘💕

Love the trunk. Your yellow vertical striped shorts are ADORABLE!

What was the inside of the trunk like? Did you change that at all?
I like the pillow a lot!
