    This is actually so helpful because so many DIYers act like we already have the materials and skip steps, and you’re starting from scratch. Yours are also more upscale and professional looking (things I would truly consider putting in my room), but still easy enough for someone like me to follow! :)

      Thank you that really means a lot to me. I try to be as informative as I can and show the entire process while also making things that look like they could be sold in a store for much more. I’m so glad that’s translating through my videos 🤗

      @GypsyDove 2 года назад

      How do you dye using these?

    • @ashleyadams5797
      @ashleyadams5797 2 года назад

      @@GypsyDove Soak the clean fabric pr lace in boiled tea or coffee. Experiment with different times but I usually let them sit for 30mins-hour on a warm stove setting. If cold dying then let them soak overnight. Rinse the fabric in cold water and then soak for 5 mins in white vinegar to set the color then rinse again and dry on low. Cotton fabrics work best. Also different teas can make pinks, greens, yellows and reds besides tans and browns. There are tons of tea staining videos and tutorials. You can even tea or coffee stain wood. Hope this helps!

    I've built the back of a sofa with an ancient wooden table where are still visible parts of school exercises, written in coursive, of some kids (I know those are really old because that kind of coursive isn't used from decades in Italy) They were just light random engravings at first, but with a clear shiny coat they're a lot more visible today. I like my sofa, now it has history in it..

    hi everyone!! i actually did the tire project and i just wanted to give some tips for anyone else who is wanting to try it out!
    1. for a 16 inch tire i went through just over 300 feet of sisal rope (i had to buy 350 to get it covered though) however i accidentally used 3/8" rope instead of 1/2" so if your tire is 16 inches and you use 1/2" rope you can definetely get away with only 300 feet for that size tire.
    2. invest in a larger size hot glue gun if you have a smaller one. i wouldve saved so much time if i had a bigger glue gun that takes larger glue sticks.
    3. if you have the wheel left in your tire dont bother taking it out. i used my spare tires from my old car that got totaled, so i didnt have any use for the old tires and wheels. if you plan on using this ottoman for anything heavier than regular nightstand objects, keeping the wheel in really helps as extra support if you were to use it for sitting or standing on!
    the project is super easy just a lot more time consuming than i expected. i spent 6-8 hours on my tire. im not sure why it took longer because her tire was larger and only took her an hour and a half, but i did use a lot of hot glue so it would be extra secure so that may be why. i made sure to glue down the white nylon rope as well as the sisal to itself, going through roughly 100 mini hot glue sticks

      Super helpful. Thank you, Elise ♥️ Now I am just sitting here wondering if I should buy the jute rope, glue sticks and make one myself or just buy one directly from Ikea. Because where I am the jute alone for 1 tyre is costing me same as the ready ikea pouf 😂

      I’m fairly certain that she did not sand past the veneer. True veneer is just a thin layer of real wood. Veneer can be sanded to its raw wood state but if she had sanded the veneer off, there would have been an adhesive layer to sand thru.

      Ika - go back and read Suzann Reed's comment. She suggested using a round piece of wood on top of the tire ( you can screw right into the tire). You could still sisal the top wood then the side of the tires to get the same look. The top would then be sturdy. Try finding one of those round side tables with 3 legs they use to sell for $10 (man, I wish I would have kept mine - went in the yard sale). I think the round top would fit the tire. Oh, NO. I just checked Amazon and Ikea, their tables are outrageous. Thrift store or a hardware store, if you choose to do it this way. Now I know why she used a clothesline. But this still is an awesome idea.

    Nice, I like how the wall hanging is a different variation on the wonderful macrame wall hangings in her other videos. Love them all as a great textured, boho moment in the room's color palette. I especially love how the macrame ones are hung on branches.

    These DIYs are amazing, I love the fabric wall hanging. Never thought of using dye on cheap white fabric, brilliant! My only question is how the spray paint for the dresser knobs went from being almost $7.00 at the store to being labeled as $2.00 in the cards. Not trying to troll just really like to upcycle and think transparency is key for your viewers so they know what to expect price wise. Great content though!

    • @XOMaCenna
      @XOMaCenna  5 лет назад

      Thanks so much 😘💕 all the costs were based on portions used and I used very little spray paint on the knobs and the rest on the gallery wall frames in the part 2 video. Totally agree with you regarding transparency .. happy to clarify 🤗

    • @XOMaCenna
      @XOMaCenna  5 лет назад +2

      So if you do 1 tire you need 4 rolls (200 ft) if you want to do two tires and stack them you need 8 rolls (400 ft). 🤗 for joining the rope ends, just glue down the end strands really well and then once you do the next row it will disappear .. I was even surprised how well it disappeared! 😘💕

      I was thinking you could have 2 circular pieces of plywood or plexiglass cut about 1/2" shorter in diameter than the tire is and hot glue that onto the top and bottom instead of using clothesline to make it support more weight. Idk how that would work out but it sounds good in theory anyway lol.
