Taurus has come a long way,i carry a g3c for my daily carry. Great gun, very reliable, accurate. Some of these comments are????????????
Complete striker kit and spring guide for less than $100 from Lakeside LLc. Love it! It's like upgrading your car stereo system or adding a supercharger. Same car better performance and reliability.
- I’ve had so many negative comments on this video basically saying why buy something you have to upgrade. I say exactly the same thing you’re saying. You don’t have to upgrade but it certainly makes it better
@@Steve-Goff 100% agree. Just to flip the narrative there is also a huge Glock aftermarket following too. Go figure LOL
Installing a supercharger increases reliability?
@@infinitewisdom6026 increases performance
@@infinitewisdom6026 better performance. Upgrades tend to do that. Reliability is a plus.
They now have a stainless striker spring keeper, it's one piece. So much easier. Just swapped everything out in the slide with the Lakeline products. Barrel too.
You have part number for the entire assembly? Thanks
@@Healthyhealings they sell everything as a kit. Barrel, striker guide, spring keeper and guide rod/recoil spring. Just Google Lakeline LLC G3c stainless parts.
I had g3 5.8 inch treaded barrel in my g2c frm Lakeline with a stainless striker fire guard ss guiderod sigp226 mags
Love lakeline and McCarbo
Great video! I've owned several of these pistols, and I have (with my Dremal), polished the top of the barrel butter smooth. I also polish the barrel ramp just to ensure defensive hollow point ammo cycles flawlessly. Best inexpensive pistol ever. IMHO
- TFW and commenting. I really like the G3C. I’ve had a Glock 26 (comparable size) and actually prefer the Taurus. Not even kidding
Thank you for that information. I will do the same.
Have a g2 ,and it jams ,would polishing the ramp fix this???
Have a g2 ,and it jams ,would polishing the ramp fix this???
Thank you. Just got my parts in and changed mine out. They also have a 1 piece metal spring retention collar to replace the 2 plastic pieces.
- I probably should’ve ordered that too especially since I already had the pieces off
I bought a taurus g3c toro from a pawn shop. Opened it while cleaning it to realize previous owner replaced both guide rod and striking pin hell yeah
- I have about a 1000 rounds through mine without a single malfunction of any kind. I previously had a G2C that was completely stock and I did have some issues with it
@@Steve-Goff Two of my cousins (Sisters) got Taurus 9mm pistols. One got a G3C, while the other got the G2C. I also have a G3C and when we shoot the G2C is the one that usually jams.
I replaced my guide rod assembly with the Lakeline and am very pleased with the improvement. I had a Galloway guide rod assembly, and the large spring end came away from the rod after about 150 rounds preventing feeding and locking open. I can't recommend Galloway, but highly recommend Lakeline.
I did the same, and the LL "glowy" fiber sight things. I like them a lot, but they break at the range when you try to use up your 30 minutes. G2Cs are OK, but not amazing. I did replace the plastic "striker guide" thing....the right term? I don't want to turn it into a giant project, I figure it'll just last longer as it is EDC and I go to the range 1x per week. I did the striker guide, the springy-thing, I keep it clean, and it has never jammed on me. I know people rag on Taurus, but my PT92 v1 has seen about 20,000 rounds since 1995 and never jammed. This G2C is probably not that good, but hasn't jammed either. Is it the ammo? I keep it clean.
@@formereverything4268 G2C keep it oiled and run lower grained ammo in it I was told.
I did same upgrades to my G3c and also the I upgrade the plastic back plate for an aluminum one !👍😎
Appreciate you sharing this. I will be making these improvements. Thank you.
Did the same upgrade but I also used the one piece stainless steel spring retainer instead of the original two piece plastic. Everything works fine.
I did the same thing with mine
@@jaynewelch1472 Me too, I think the single flat wire springs are better. I like how mine is breaking in.
I did the same thing. Also replaced the spring retainer
I had the "gritty trigger" on my Taurus G2C .40 caliber, and, when pulling the trigger it felt like a "catch" when pulling the trigger about half way before getting the trigger to the wall...I removed the entire striker assembly (just as shown in this video), completely disassembled the striker assembly, used q-tips and cleaned the striker channel in the slide, cleaned all striker parts, DID NOT LUBE, and reassembled. Feels like a custom trigger now, and no parts were replaced. Maybe it will work for your gun as well. 😉 Great video for upgrading this cool tool! 😎
- that’s good information. My G2C was doing exactly the same thing. Really affected my accuracy. I figured for $10 it was worth replacing
I just got a aftermarket keep tinkering trigger and it’s the best trigger out of all my firearms
mine has the same problem. feels like it's almost broken... may work on the parts
I put a little gun oil on the outside of the new guide as it was a little dry and catchy once installed, had not affected performance.
I also installed a Lakeline ported barrel in my G3c. Love it.
- I’ll definitely have to look into those. I have about 600 rounds through my G3C without a single malfunction of any kind. It’s been a great pistol
Thank you for taking the time to do this video. Much appreciated.
- tfw and commenting. I appreciate it. The recoil spring and guide rod are more for piece of mind. The striker guide makes a huge difference on trigger feel
Thanks, I really appreciate the heads up on Lakeline. Ordered their ultimate topside upgrade which includes both pieces you replaced on this video, along with all the springs for the striker housing. Also got a 20 round magazine which included the mag sleeve attached to it already giving the grip and mag full texture on the extension.
- nice. I didn’t know they had a 20 round magazine. Now you’re about to make me spend some money
@@Steve-Goff , lol. Yeah, I'm sure you checked by now, but they do have 15,17, and 20 round factory magazines for the Taurus G2 & G3 series.
@@Steve-Goffif this still applies with the g3c like it did with the g2, you can use the SIG Sauer 18 and 20 Rd P226 mags with a grip extension also
@@redwolfacutinaantam7725no not 20 rd factory mags. They are 17 round mags with lake line +3
Keep tinkering trigger for the win. Turned my reliable g2c budget pistol into the best shooting and feeling pistol I own. ❤
I love Taurus and I have a couple of 1911's of theirs along with 3 of the G series which I feel are the absolute BEST inexpensive handguns on the market. One is a 9mm and the other 2 are 40s&w. Can't beat it! Information is spot on and a good video, thanks
- TFW and commenting. I’ve had a couple pistols from SCCY and Hi-Point and would pick Taurus over them all day long especially when they’re similarly priced
@Steve-Goff if you're making the comparison between Taurus, HI Point and SCCY...? Seriously?
Thanks for sharing this information about the project
- IMO, the striker guide is a must mod. The recoil spring is not as important but gives me piece of mind knowing it’s steel versus plastic
I just purchased a G2C,this was very informative thank you!
- my G2C was very picky on ammo. It didn’t like 115 grain at all. These upgrades significantly help with that
I replaced the guide rod and spring, the striker guide and the barrel with the Lakeline LLC tactical package. I also got a Lakeline micro-compensator for my threaded barrel. I went with the gold version since my frame is desert tan. Thanks for the video and keep shooting 😊.
- I understand why Taurus uses plastic parts but the stainless ones makes the lineup such better shooters
Their website says minor fitting may be required did you have to do anything or was it pretty straightforward install
@@lumberjack3362 I found it to be a very straight forward install and I was able to complete it in about an hour with a cleaning and lube included.
I just order the midnight bronze G2C from PSA will be doing a review soon! Great video
Owned both of them.... the G2C and the G3C..... the G2 shot ok and was ok for reliability..... the G3 on the other hand shot great and was horrible for reliability..... I had to put another barrel in the G3, after that I had no problems out of it. Very accurate for a 250 dollar pistol.
- I’ve probably had about twenty 9mm pistols and every single one of them run 115 grain just fine except the G2C and G3C. I have all kinds of issues with 115 grain but they run 124 grain flawlessly
Did taurus send you a new barrel or did you have to buy a new one? If you bought one did you just buy another taurus barrel or get a different one?
Check the feed ramp on your barrel to see if it is well polished. My G3C ramp was somewhat polished but I wanted it to be more mirror-like so I put a polisher tip on my Dremel and polished the feed ramp for between 30 to 60 seconds. Didn't take long, and I ended up with a glass-like mirror surfaced feed ramp. Just that can improve a lot of reliability issues on various pistols.
I believe Lakeline now sells a one piece stainless steel “plug” to replace the 2 piece plastic one for the striker spring assembly.
- thanks. I’ll have to look into them
going to be doing the same thing for g3c. been my edc and hate the plastic rather pay extra for them to have stock metal
Did the same upgrades along with a new trigger, striker spring and sights. I hated the stock trigger and replaced it with a slightly shorter pull but the trigger is more forward. It's a lot more ergonomic. I also hated the catch on the trigger safety but I wouldn't have replaced it if it didn't have a manual safety. I was gifted some higher vis fiber optic sights and I like the sight picture a lot more. Put a 100 rounds through it the other day and it is noticeably improved overall. I'm not in the habit of making mods to my firearms but this was worth it.
- I usually don’t make many mods either but my accuracy was all over the place because of the trigger. Replacing the striker guide made a huge difference for me
I just purchased me a G3C about 2 weeks ago. I’m glad I came upon this video cause now I know for sure what the most important upgrades are that I need 👍🏾👍🏾. This was actually very helpful 💯💯.
- I had a G2C previously and the stainless steel striker guide is a must. It improves the trigger and accuracy by a bunch
Trigger upgrade js better for that gritty trigger. It’s the shittiest trigger in the edc game but with aftermarket options I used keep tinkering it made the trigger the best out of any firearms I own
@@jordansantos3374 keep tinkering is the brand? I'm new to firearms and new G3C owner.
Thanks for sharing this information 👌🙏
Good video Steve, I also upgraded the spring clips with a single stainless steel one from Lakeline. I struggled at first but figured out the using your suggestion using the slide to hold it in place. However I was doing it incorrectly at first letting the pin go all the way in, after reversing the pin 180 degrees, it was a breeze.
- I probably should’ve done them at the same time. Thankfully, I haven’t had a single malfunction of any kind with the G3C. I’m over 1000 rounds through it
Nice! When I replaced my guide rod & striker guide on my G2C, Lakeline wasn’t offering the black. They only had the stainless. But, it works out because the slide on mine is stainless too.
- I have about 1500 rounds through it and so far haven’t had a single malfunction of any kind
Get the threaded barrel, I got the black nitride one and it's a work of art.
Great recommendations for the upgrades. If I start having problems will be replacing what I need to but until then she's only getting a cerakote job and some night sights and a nice holster
- I did the upgrade before ever shooting the G3C. I had a G2C and had all kinds of malfunctions. Over 1000 rounds through the G3C without a single issue
I also replaced the guide rod and guide sleeve with Lakeline, I also threw in a flat faced trigger and a set of high viz sights
- how was the trigger swap? Is it involved or fairly simple
Thank you guys for the tips done mine a few months ago fire like an hk now
- TFW and commenting. I had some issues with my G2C and wish I would’ve done these to see if it corrected them. I haven’t had a single issue with my G3C
Jut an overall great gun man I love my G2C and G3c. Cheap and the best starter gun ever.. I've evolved since starting my pistol journey but I'll never forget my babies. Put 3000 rounds thru them with minimal failures.
- Taurus has really stepped up their game over the last 10 years or so. Most of their stuff is very reliable nowadays
Get the factory spring rate (16 lbs) as the 18 lb caused me problems with feeding. Went back to the factory spring and that solved that. So I will be getting the 16 lb spring assembly.
Replaced the plastic striker guide and recoil spring/guide rod assembly with Lakeline stainless parts. Quick and easy upgrade.
- my previous G2C was finicky about ammo. I wish I would’ve replaced the striker guide on it to see if it made a difference. I replaced it on my G3C before ever shooting it
I bought a Taurus G2C a short time back to augment the two G3s that I bought a few months back. I had TruGlo Professional tritium/fiber optic sights put on the G3s, but I bought the Ameriglo tritium sights for the G2C. All three guns are pleasant to shoot with 115 grain 9x19mm ammo, but now it looks like I have to buy the Lakeline parts. Oh, well.
Lately, I haven't been able to carry strongside due to sciatica caused by spinal stenosis, so I'm carrying my 3" Taurus 856 Defender with a Galloway spring kit in a Galco Hornet holster worn crossdraw. It, too, is a very acceptable defensive tool.
- I had the G2C and actually had all kinds of feeding and extraction issues when running 115 grain American Eagle. It was fine with 124 grain. I bought the Lakeline parts to put in the G2C but ended up buying a G3C so just decided to put them in it. Zero malfunctions of any kind so far after over 1000 rounds
Agreed, abut the only partI would install on that Taurus would be Night Sights with R3D 2.0 XS Sights.
- I have about a 1000 rounds through this one without a single malfunction. Still not sure if I’d trust my life to it but it has been very reliable
That's the two very first things I did as well.if I'm going to carry a weapon I get rid of all the plastic I can.and it didn't cost a lot, but in my mind I don't have to worry about the plastic because I shoot and I shoot a lot.
- that was my thought too. I go to the range twice a month and almost always take the G3C because I’m always testing different red dots. I have over 1000 rounds through it so far without a single malfunction
Ur gonna be really happy with the upgrades 👍👍👍
- I have about 500 rounds through the pistol now without a single malfunction of any kind
same material glock uses in their guns, and no one complains about glock. The plastic decreases friction and increases the useful life of the weapon.
- if you shoot a G2C you’ll understand what I’m talking about with the gritty trigger. That striker guide upgrade is a huge improvement over stock
I think the only upgrades I'd get for my G3c is the recoil spring and rod to steel. I'm not happy about the plastic, other than that, the pistol is perfect as is for EDC, I don't show it off, and nobody else is going to use it so it can be ugly(I think it looks fine), great call on upgrading the rod and spring! I'd try compressed air for a scratchy trigger first, then replace if that fails to help, or just want a new/smoother feel. I do love the upgrade tho, especially if you plan on regular practice with it.
The new striker guide makes a difference smoothing out the trigger
You can replace it if you want but I'll be honest with you the plastic works fine I have 6,750 rounds through mine and it still runs flawless
striker guide upgrade is HUGE
lakeline LLC Ported barrel And stainless spring get a get em both black also I'm going to do it but look at getting some 32 round pro mags from Taurus totally worth it
Excellent Advice!
- TFW and commenting. I appreciate it
very well explained-thanks
- TFW and commenting. I appreciate it
Did those modifications on my G3 also. If you dont like the trigger/safety in one, a new trigger makes the pull sooooo short on em, its beautiful. I love my G3 over my Glock 19, I find it easier to fire, smoother, and all around a more enjoyable firearm for me personally. The 3gc 40 is on the list next 😊
- thanks for the heads up on the trigger. I still can’t believe how much of a difference that striker guide makes. The trigger before was gritty and would almost feel like it would catch if you were intentionally pulling it slow. It is so smooth now
I love the Taurus G line of handguns. I have the G2C, G3C, and G3. Not really impressed with that new Gx4. It just doesn't fit my hands well. The G3C not very happy with the sites out of the box, but I have upgrades on the way now. Thank you for this video. I will order and make the changes right away!!. Improving on an already great gun will be my highlight! Thank You!
- I had a G2C and had all sorts of malfunctions with 115 grain ammo. Never a problem with 124. I swapped those parts on the G3C before I ever shot it. I have about 600 rounds through it now without a single malfunction
Thanks a lot😊😊😊
I put a shake awake Holosight on mine and it'll shoot right with all my other 9s now , don't care much for the trigger but it won't go off accidently
- The G3C trigger is definitely better than the G2C. It was very gritty and would almost catch a little
Thank you I just bought my G2c and want to upgrade the trigger
- you will be shocked at the difference between the stock striker guide and the lakeline one
Each gun had been test-fired by the factory several times before it ships. So, that is copper on the rifling (not rust) from the cheap ammo Taurus uses fo that. It's also why there was powder gunk on and around the striker when you took it apart.
- that’s interesting. I had a similar thing on a S&W M&P Shield. I cleaned the barrel multiple times and it never came out of it. I used brushes and bore snakes
I corrected my gritty trigger by simply cleaning the striker assembly. I attempted to install a stainless guide but "screwed" it up resulting in a dead trigger which Taurus graciously repaired under warranty. They replaced the original guide with another made of plastic which may require cleaning to eliminate the gritty feel.
- I wonder how many rounds are fired from the factory. Mine was brand new when I changed it and was still already filthy. I haven’t had a single issue so far (about 600 rounds)
That's one issue new owners fail to understand about these pistols, you rarely, if ever need to lube the trigger mechanisms, specially areas where you don't have access to in striker fired pistols(unless mentioned by the maker, usually lube holes exist when that's true). Dropping lube into that area only guarantees one thing, that it will collect dirt, grime, and eventually become a problem.
- I had a G2C and the trigger was very gritty. It had a noticeable catch in it. The G3C used the same plastic striker guide. It was a noticeable improvement with the stainless one
AWESOME!
Great information! I happened to win a G3C at a gun show and didn't know much about the model. I will certainly be looking to do these upgrades - not to mention get on deep cleaning before taking it to the range.
- it’s actually a pretty decent pistol right out of the box. People complain that the trigger can feel a little gritty and that striker guide completely eliminates that
I have a Lakeline fluted threaded barrel, stainless striker guide, SMSC/Romeo Zero optics plate and recoil spring on my G2C.
How'd the barrel go in any trouble
@@johncampbell6649 nope.
Thanks Bro.
- tfw and commenting. I appreciate it
I did the same thing for my G2C last month PLUS I installed the Techna Clip so it rides inside my belt and the muzzle tucks into the watch pocket of my jeans - discreet carry.
I've been avoiding any trigger updates since most Tube lawyers say that replacing the trigger gives the Prosecutor a reason to charge you if you are involved in a self-defense shooting.
Not to mention, all the trigger upgrades I've seen get rid of the second strike capabilities of these guns
@@tonkatank045 since I live in the state of Washington I watch a RUclips channel called Washington gun law and one of the things that keeps coming up is the fact that if you are involved in a justifiable shooting if you've modified the trigger on your gun than you could face some kind of prosecution because you've made the gun more lethal so I'm leaving my trigger stock.
@@tonkatank045 how useful is that 2nd strike honestly. Most train their muscle memory to just tap and rack anyway
Good Job Sir
- tfw. I appreciate it
I did the same thing with the mini comp and added the laser with the coupon provided which came with the iwb holster. Had to file a minimum amount of the holster to allow the comp to fit through and protrude.
- TFW and commenting. I probably have 500 rounds through the G3C without a single hiccup. I was having issues with the G2C with the oem parts
@OhioGunsDeals I have heard some horror stories and good stories.
I have not had an issue with mine. Shoots rather flat, although I never fired it with stock parts,..my g3c. I have been thinking if any one of my tools is gonna get an optic it would be this one, just have to procure the T.OR.O slide.
The G3c seems to be the best in the G line up. I have heard some horror stories with the 4.
No problem. The vid was simple and informative. Keep up the great work!!
Most underrated carry gun out there.
- my G3C has been 100% reliable at the range through close to 1000 rounds
Good video. But because of the metal lip on the striker. There’s only way it’ll go in. Don’t worry too much about it
Nice video I just bought a g3c I will be upgrading to the lake line parts
- this pistol has well over a thousand rounds without a single malfunction of any kind. Had the lakeline parts since brand new
@@Steve-Goff Got to wait for the one part to come back in stock.
That isn't rust, it was on mine as well. I believe it's a type of coating either from the manufacturing process or for protection. Possibly to see if it has been fired. I could be wrong
- I had an M&P Shield years ago that had something similar. I cleaned it 3 or 4 times before going to the range and it didn’t go away. After putting a couple hundred rounds through it, it went away. Who knows
Thanks for this video, I’m looking to buy G3C first gun, concerned about recoil and I may not be able to test at range before purchase, knowing I can change the recoil
Spring to make less “snappy” solidifies my purchase even more
- it’s a 9mm in a small footprint so there’s going to be recoil no matter how many mods you do. Having your hands correctly on the grip and posture makes a huge difference as well. I replaced it mainly because it was plastic
@@Steve-Goff oooh ok, I got it, train train train, lol thanks
You Don't have to use the screw driver to get the plate on, all you need to do is push it with a finger start the plate on and it'll push all the way through easy, also the flat side of the firing pin is impossible to face the other way bc it it only goes in 1 way it's impossible to face it the wrong way even on accident. Also anything metal on metal helps with a bit of oil, also don't be afraid to oil the outside slide then wipe it off, bc the finish on them wears easy so it's easier to oil it frequently like every week and wipe it clean, i oil it before bed once a week and it'll get absorbed into the metal over night after i wipe it off. Better then fighting rust blemishes. I do like the idea of changing all plastic to metal tho, i wish those 2 plastic tabs had metal replacement parts!
- thanks for all the tips. The guide rod/recoil spring is probably an unnecessary thing to change but the striker guide made a huge difference on trigger feel and accuracy.
Should have polished the feed-ramp.
I polished mine to a mirror finish and it feeds like butter!
- did you do that on a G2C or G3C. I know they’re essentially the same barrel but I’m wondering what you have. I had all sorts of malfunctions with my G2C. Almost 2000 rounds through my G3C without a single issue
@@Steve-Goff ... I have a G3C, bought it (2020) 3.5 years ago and thankfully and recently a range opened up only a few miles from my house so, I recently started using it.
I had a couple jams when I first started running it on Super Val 115gr reloads. And Blazer 124gr.
Polished the feed ramp looking like a mirror and mine likes to be lubed....over 500 rounds now and she's been good.👍
I clean/oil it every 10 mags, it's fun and makes for a happy firearm.
Considering the GX4, maybe when prices come down.
I replaced my parts plus m-carbo spring kit the keep Tinkering trigger i got my G2C from Taurus cause my Taurus 45 pro was a recalled my G2C got over 15,000 round plus i got the rapter cut from engraves i hand polished the slide and internal metals my Taurus runs like a race car now
- thanks for sharing your feedback with those upgrades. I always appreciate hearing what parts actually work. I had all kinds of issues with the factory parts on my G2C. So far, not a single issue with the G3C
They run p226 20rd mags and you did modify it you put that badass Lakeline guiderod makes it super smooth hub
- that’s good to know. I occasionally see Sig put those on sale
Good video. I oughta do the same thing. There is nothing wrong with what youre doing. Its your pistol, and you do what you want to it. Its dumb that people waste the energy to disagree and have their weird thoughts. If ya dont like it dont watch it. Good video man.
- appreciate you watching and commenting. I have about a 1000 rounds through the G3C without a single malfunction of any kind. I did those mods when the pistol was still brand new
I favor you and appreciate you so much have the Taurus g3 model an done the exact same now my g3 model runs like a champ immediately like an subscribe to you 🎉
- thanks for the kind words and sub. I appreciate that. I couldn’t believe how much difference that striker guide made on the trigger feel
I feel the same way made that trigger 10x better
Mine came with a bad mag, i guess. Jam after every single round. I switched to the second mag that came with it, and it runs flawlessly. Two of the exact same mag 🤷
- I have about a 1000 rounds through my G3C using all 3 magazines without a single malfunction of any kind. My G2C was a completely different story. I couldn’t get through either magazine without malfunctions
I remember how bad Taurus pistols were back in the 80s, I guess they have came a long way, its kind of funny seeing people buying and modifying them.
- I bought a Taurus back in 2005 and hated it. It felt cheaply made with inferior parts. Didn’t even keep it a couple of months. I didn’t buy another for over 15 years and now own quite a few. They honestly compete with some guns that are 2-3x the price
I purchased Lakeview ported barrel, recoil system and the steel striker assembly for my new G3c pistol. The ported barrel would not fit, along with Lakeview instructions saying to modify the slide with a round file for entry of their product on certain models; hense Zero warranty on the slide after that. The recoil system makes a noticeable difference. The steel striker system uses the factory 14lb spring weight and resulted in 100% light strikes for me, with CCI and Remington factory 124g ammo, plus reloads with Winchester and CCI primers, set at .002" depth below surface. All this ammo fired 100% in my friends Star model 30 pistol for my conformation of the problem. The factory striker guide being plastic may possibly wear faster, but has no danger for operation of the pistol. I installed a Wolf Spring 15 1/2lb spring to resolve all light strikes, yet the trigger pull does increase with this modification. M*Carbo trigger spring kit also uses the factory 14lb weight spring, causing light strikes, although installing their complete kit, along with the internal polishing does result in a beautiful, smooth non spongy trigger pull. I also purchased a Taurus Black Barrel, and polished the ramp, which made a drastic change of improvement of lock-up, plus shows no external scuffing marks as the original factory barrel. The other install was a set of TruGlo sights, super bright! Taurus customer service insist the initial answer of "what ammo are your using", as the standard form reply to the light strike topic-worthless. These affordable, well fitting to the average hand pistols' are a bit touchy, compared to other brands, but for the $249, I can afford to install improvements for longevity and durability.
- TFW and commenting. I don’t mind spending a little extra money to make something more reliable, shoot better, and last longer. I’ve had a ton of comments on this video saying it’s dumb to spend the money on a budget gun and I should’ve just bought something better to start with. I have more expensive guns
If you start having failures to eject it's because of that stronger spring I hear messing with the springs is not a good idea because they test these firearms with Factory parts
- I’ll keep that in mind if I encounter any issues. I’m over 1000 rounds through it now without a single malfunction of any kind.
I really wanted a cool chrome pistol, but i walk in the gun shop and see this brand new for 300 bucks new and im like hm, thats cheap itll do the job and i dont regret it
- I previously had a G2C and the G3C has some really nice improvements. I have well over a 1000 rounds through mine without a single malfunction.
You dont have to remember the flat spot goes to the right on the striker it wont go in any other way
- thanks for the tip.
Great video very helpful tips question though do you know where I can find those parts that you installed.. maybe if you have a link..
- I can’t put links to those types of products but they can easily be found on Lakeline Industry website or their eBay channel
Thanks for the mod suggestions! Im not going to complain about spending an extra $50 to possibly improve a $250 firearm. Funny how people complain about this mod but will spend $600+ on a glock, then turn around and spend another $100+ on trigger mods......unbelievable
- yep. People always comment and say the engineers designed the gun to be used with the factory parts. I ask them if they always use the exact factory parts when replacing something on their car
@@Steve-Goff great point!
Great video! Thank you! Did the trigger improve with that stainless steel striker guide over the stock plastic one? Just got a G3C as well
I’ll have to report back to you on it. I still haven’t went to the range with it. I can tell you that the stock G3C trigger felt better out of the box than the G2C. The striker guide should be an improvement over the stock feel
Yes it does.
Nice video thanks for posting it. A quick question. Did changing the guide rod and springs make the slide harder to rack?
- No difference at all. The spring poundage is the same as the factory
@@Steve-Goff awesome thanks
I have the g2c did those, did not touch the trigger assembly though….
- TFW and commenting. I appreciate it
Cool
my new G2C .40 has a very pronounced 'catch' before the trigger can be pulled back. almost unshootable. it happens with or without the slide attached. not sure what the problem is, but it appears to be the trigger bar, etc.
- my G2C did the exact same thing. Very difficult to have any consistent accuracy. My G3C had it as well but not as bad. Changing out the striker guide completely eliminated it. Definitely worth the upgrade
One suggestion- fire the gun before making the upgrades. Make sure it functions properly. Cause if it doesn’t the you are left wondering if the upgrades had something to do with the malfunctions.
- very good point. I actually ordered these parts for my G2C that had all kinds of malfunctions. I sold it before the parts arrived and had bought the G3C so decided to use them on it. 600 rounds so far through it without a single malfunction of any kind
I upgraded all three of my G series guns and ever since then each of of them keep making mis fires (duds). I contacted Lakeline for some feedback and they gave me nothing--they said the guns are dirty ; and they are not dirty these are clean. The misfires (over 10%) started as soon as I placed the parts in them....bad customer service. BTW, I followed this step by step instructions to the letter.
- I had all sorts of problems with my G2C without the upgrades. When I bought the G3C, I did the upgrades before I even shot it. I haven’t had a single malfunction after over a 1000 rounds
Is it safe to assume that because the recoil spring itself is beefier, that it is also a coupe pounds heavier? I'm asking because i want these parts for my g3 because i have some hotter rounds and it seems upgrades like this would help to mitigate the pounding the frame would take when firing
- I don’t believe it’s any heavier. I can’t say for certain but I’m pretty sure the spring tension is the same as factory. 16 pounds is the number that comes to mind but I could be mistaken
Bought my G3C today and noticed alot of calcium buildup on the Recoil Spring. Love the feel but she was dry as a bone good lord.
- I changed out that recoil spring and striker guide before I ever shot mine. No issues whatsoever so far after 500 rounds or so
@@Steve-Goff Yeah mine are in transit from Lakeline and I am now looking into polishing the feed ramp. Still stand by my purchase. All this out of the box and yes, I stand by my purchase because it just feels better in my hand than my Sig Sauer P365
I've got a G2C and a G3C, so I might do both. Does Lakeside make a lighter spring? My daughter has a tough time pulling the slide back on the G2C, so I thought a lighter spring would help.
- I’m not 100% sure if they sell a lighter spring or not. I think the factory is 16 pounds. I would caution you on going too light because it can definitely affect function and reliability
Bought mine and ordered both parts, I ordered the complete replacement without plastic parts, installed them a few mins ago. I plan to fire next week, how are you liking it so far?
- I have well over 1000 rounds through it without a single malfunction of any kind. The trigger is so much smoother
id like to see a cleaning video from you!
Does the new recoil spring help improve slide pull? Slide pull is very stiff with this gun.
- The spring is the exact same as factory (16 pounds I think) so it doesn’t change the pull at all. A suggestion is to push with your bottom hand instead of pulling on the slide
I'm just curious of the follow up, how did it do with firing with the upgrades? Did you run into any issues with it?
- I have about 600 rounds through it without a single malfunction of any kind. Who knows though, it may have been just as well without those upgrades. I had all kinds of issues with my G2C
watch out id clean the plastic Striker guide, and not use the metal ive had 2 from the same guy and both chiped and got in to my gun and made it not fire and i put about 1000 rounds into his Recoil Spring and have 2k on the stock one his its got dents where it meets up at the barrel. they are not as hard of metal as the stock stuff this was on my g2c
- wow. That’s good to know. I’ll definitely watch for any wear areas
@@Steve-Goff maybe its just to many rounds but i got 3300 out of my g2c and its still shoting just got a g3c. see if it stands up like the g2c i think it will
Thanks for letting us know. I wont be "upgrading". All this ish is like putting k&n filter on ur car...it does bozack.
I got a new g3c that jams. Ive cleaned it n polished. Still having feeding issues here n there. Was thinking of upgrading the barrel n spring rod. U think it'll help?? Im liking that ported barrel. 😊
- My G2C used to jam quite a bit with 115 grain but never did with 147 grain.
I had the same issues, clean throughly and try using different grain ammo. I’ve also noticed hollowpoints do have some feeding issues
I had a gunsmith look at it. He thinks the barrel out of spec. Told me to take advantage of lifetime warranty. So right now, its getting repaired by taurus. Hopefully that fixes the problem
Did you get the stainless 1 piece firing pin spring retainer also?
- I didn’t. So far, these are the only 2 things I’ve changed on the G3C. No malfunctions of any kind after about 1000 rounds
Taurus uses a round recoil spring. Round always tries to jump wraps. When that happens, the pistol will lock up. (I had two Taurus's and both locked up solid even with lake land springs) Buy and use at your own safety. I god rid of mine and now insure that the recoil spring is flat wire.
- that’s interesting. I definitely wouldn’t trust my life to a Taurus. Mine are basically for range use. I had all kinds of issues with my G2C. So far, I haven’t had a single malfunction with my G3C after about a 1000 rounds
@@Steve-Goff Good.
Did that end up being rust in the barrel? Mine has never been shot and has the same discoloration that won't clean out...
- it wasn’t rust. I cleaned it a few times and it was still there. Once I started shooting it, it got removed and never came back
Nice posting with good info. Just got a G3C 3 months ago. If you get one clean it thoroughly right away before even firing. Put 100 rds. of ball ammo thru it. Clean and lube again and affect the same mods. Pull trigger and work the slide 300 cycles. Put 50 rds. of ball then 50 hollow points thru it and you should be broken in and ready to rock. I put an XS Sights big dot front and rear sight combo on mine and for close in work in no or low light conditions this setup is great. Note that this gun will accept aftermarket sights which are the same size as Glock sights. Urban carry IWB LockLeather holster and you won't be disappointed. Shoot safe and grow the sport.
- TFW and for the suggestions. I have about 600 rounds through it so far using a variety of brands and weights and so far there hasn’t been a single malfunction of any kind
can you use the spring upgrade on the G3c in .40 s&w
- The guide rod and spring upgrade are more for peace of mind. The factory one is plastic and a part that does wear out. Sometimes within 2-3000 rounds.
