I love thumb safety. Just another measure of security and safety which treasures less than a second to deactivate but can be lifesaver in case of user mistake or oversight.
Totally agree. I have thumb on my m&p also. I've trained to take the safety off as I'm pulling my pistol from The holster
I absolutely agree, I previously mentioned that I couldn't picture having a pistol without a safety on it, that's just crazy to me (from a safety aspect) to each his own of course🤷♀️
There's a reason the military requires thumb safety's on their handguns.
@@kennethcurtis1856 I was thinking the exact same thing. I learned from my old Army days that the safety is your friend. Most people who rant agiest thumb safety's have never been in a gunfight.
Because military personnel are dumb.
I would rather have the thumb safety and not need it than need the thumb safety and not have it.
Just so everyone is aware, the reset on this weapon is much better than he’s claiming and showing. It’s actually super short and honestly just as good as my glocks stock triggers. This weapon has the ability to double strike so in the event you have a light primer strike, you don’t have to clear the malfunction but rather just pull the trigger again. That acts like a double action but only if the firing pin hasn’t been reset. That’s my understanding of how this weapon works.
Hell not only that
the other day when I was buying my daughter a G3c I checked the trigger pull on six or seven different g3s and I couldn't believe every time I picked one up the trigger pull was LIKE BUTTER the best trigger I've ever pulled on any pistol under $500
Four or five years ago I bought her a Tikka T3 25-06 which has a tremendous trigger
the surprise I had then is the same as I had when pulling the trigger on those G3c counting the one I bought her HELL I got out the door with $280 spent and a $50 mail in rebate still to come 😁 all around
PS I walked in the store knowing I was going to buy a G2c but I swear the trigger pull on that gun had to be close to 8-9 lb$
Needless to say there was no way I was going to give that to her
@@terryeibeck8036 Right. I agree with you there. Very good buy and an even better value. It’s hard to beat this little gun that’s for sure but in my opinion, the g2c is a better all around gun than the g3c. I own both and I like the g2 better. It has better sights and I like the frame better but other than that, they’re the same damn thing basically. Taurus has done what any good company would do, they listened to the consumer and they delivered. Lately, Taurus has really stepped it up and impressed the hell out of me. A few years ago, I wouldn’t touch a damn Taurus. No way. I gave it chance though just because of multiple good reviews and I’m glad I did. I’ve put it in the hands of quite a few new gun owners who love it.
I agree.. I'm actually a big fan of taurus because when I started really getting into firearms I was big into CC on a budget. I carried the G2 PT111 for 5 years. I now own the G3 & G3c along with several other taurus guns. But I agree that the reset is better than mentioned. Not knocking this guys I like his videos.
@@dustydav9816 they’ve stepped up their game lately. I’ve been impressed.
@@jayteefishing1543 I agree with most of what you said but if you got a g2c that is equal to or anything close to what the G3c is then you ended up with a UNICORN because I swear I could not find NOT EVEN ONE out of the FIVE or SIX I picked up that had a trigger that would allow ANYONE to be accurate at the range
Until the last 7 8 years I could care less if I ever owned a pistol
my love is LONG RANGE SHOOTING and hunting / taking VOMITS and or DEER @ EXTREME DISTANCES. That said you can't have a trigger like the g2c has and become a great shot NO WAY‼️
And if you don't think it translates then here's an example years ago when Bass pro shop opened their new facility in Cincinnati Ohio back in the 90s I believe it was I went there on opening day they had a simulated pistol accuracy shooting display setup got winner got $100 and I OUTSHOT EVERYONE that came through the building that entire weekend
That's coming from someone that knows how to squeeze a trigger & at long ranges watch the animal FALL
going one further I only owned One pistol up until that time and it was a cheap little 22 revolver that had been in my sock drawer since I can remember
I don't think I ever even shot a box of shells through it the entire time I owned it
Like I said earlier they never peaked my interest
I lived in the country & didn't worry about break-ins and other than killing a chicken / turkey off the farm for supper that's about as much use as I had for it
The Taurus G Series look great in OD Green. Taurus does a good job these days in not only giving you affordable, reliable Guns, but also giving you a wide range of Colors to choose from across their product lines. OD Green, Tan, Brown, Coyote, FDE, Grey, and Black with different Slide Color combinations.
No other manufacturer gives you as many choices.
Technically, sccy gives more. But they suck
I'm just interested if it goes boom when the trigger is pulled. I'm not into fashion design when it comes to self defense.
I recently purchased a Taurus G3 full size in the tan color. I got the tan color because all my other handguns are black. I wanted something different. Nothing wrong with that.
@@kennethcurtis1856 that’s exactly right my friend. That’s why I chose Glock.
i love the thumb safety what i do when i go out and train is as im drawing from my holster as soon as my hand goes on the grip i flip the safety off as im pulling the gun up and forward. You just need to train and get use to it and your muscles memory will kick in👍🏻
Great review, answered a lot of the questions I had about upgrades.
Love taurus good quality reliable guns and are priced properly
I never use a light; it gives your opponent a great aiming point when walking in the dark.
If you’ll measure the trigger weight after you rack the slide you’ll find it’s about 1-1/2 lbs lighter. The way your checking it. Is only the weight you would pull in the event of a light hammer strike or dry fire session.
I'm glad someone said this
The Sig Sauer P226 mags work in it also. I have one and it works great.
I feel the same way you do. I like to have a lot of mags too. That’s why I bought the G3C to go along with the G2C because the mags work in both and I shoot the bill out with either pistol. Awesome pistols and great shooters! Awesome review buddy!👍
I own a G2 that came with 2 mags, a G3 that came with 2 mags and a G3C that came with 3 mags. That gives me 7 mags that will work in the G2 and G3C.
The pull test was inaccurate. You should’ve racked the slide to actually feel the reset. There is a difference between racked and unracked
i saw 4.25 pds in another video.
Yeah he doesn’t know how this thing works.
Isnt there always ... it's called the reset of the full cycle
@@StoryTimerJeremiah502 light enough for an accident to happen... I watched a dude accidentally triple string one of these .... he was only intending a double tap he said but it's a very light pull after the reset from what I seen or maybe dudes grip was loose I dunno
Its double action
Great review, with very good insights and recommendations and very honest opinions. Spot on for the market for this firearn with pros and cons.
Great review, brother. I think you just helped sell me a G3c. Liked and subscribed. Keep up the good work.
You have to rack the slide to test the trigger weight and also to get an accurate reset. You measured the re-strike trigger pull and reset. It is much better than described in this video. good upgrades! regards
I bought the g3c Toro in Pakistan, it came in a case, 3 mags, cleaning brush and adjustments for the optics.
Thanks for the video, just bought the g3. Have not shot it yet, but I am looking forward to it.
Its funny you mentioned youre more accurate with the G3C than with the G2C. Ive had a G3 for over a year. 700 rounds through it. Tons of Practice. I just bought a G3C in OD Green like yours. Now have about 150 rounds down range, and Im far more accurate with it.. and its noticeable as well. My first handgun I bought was the G2C. Loved it, but with only a few Mags through it, the Wife shot it, and said she had to have it. The G3 came out and I realllly wanted it, so Santa gave the G2C to the wife after I installed Fiber optic sights. But after having the G3 for awhile I missed the G2Cs more compact feel. It just Concealed so much better. It took a long time to find a G3C in OD Green, but RK Guns finally had one so I got one. Love it! Great video...
Hey fantastic Video !
I have a G3c but the T.O.R.O version, ready to optics version ....
I love my 4 Taurus pistols because they are all accurate, reliable and eats everything I feed them. I currently own the G2C, G3, TCP and TX22. I plan on purchasing a GX4 in the near future. I like the tactile loaded chamber indicator because you don't have to see it you can feel it in the dark and know it is loaded. Thanks for the video.
My g3c has a strong distaste for hollow points, but works perfectly with fmj
@@Dryblack1 I have tried 4 different JHPs with no issues on both my Taurus G2C and G3. I would not think the G3C would be much different since the mags are compatible. I'm running Winchester Personal Protection JHCs because they are relatively inexpensive and I have seen good performance from them in ballistic test. Good luck with your G3C.
@@keithtate1241 I've tried four different JHPs as well and so far they've all consistently failed to feed. It's been really frustrating considering the glowing reviews and lots of people like you saying it'll shoot anything. It was really expensive too to find out that mine might be a lemon. I'm going to take it back to the place I bought it to see if they can do anything for me
@@Dryblack1 I am sorry to hear that you are having issues with your G3C but if you bought it new you should be able to get a warranty repair and most stores can help with that. Hope you get it fixed.
I got a brand new Taurus g3. I went to the range . And was disappointed. It jam 4 or 5 times. And the slide wouldn't lock back..what do think it the problem?
Thank you for the video. Well done. Very thorough.
The reset is actually rlly short you just have to have the trigger still pulled then Rack slide to feel the reset.
Glad you mentioned that. I was about to. The actual reset is very short. It's one of the things I loved about the G3c. The "second strike capability" requires the trigger to go almost all the way back out.
You'd think someone who feels they have something to offer the gun community to the point they'd make a RUclips, and has used a G2c as well would know that.
I was about to say the same thing, the reset is actually short af. Great review though
You'll never feel the trigger the way he tested unless you're dry firing the gun 🤣....gotta love educators that aren't educated
Yes…the actual reset is short and a very light crisp trigger pull…it’s tons better than any other firearm I own other than maybe my Canik…
Sao trigger from keep tinkering. I use the pseudo backstrap on mine and it's great for bigger hands. Has a nice travel and I've put several rounds with fast shooting and normal. Not to mention that if you get a dead round it's easier to rack and keep going opposed to smashing that primer over and over. I'd also suggest lakeline llc for the recoil spring upgrade and firing pin guide. Makes this a solid cc protection piece.
On your problem with the light digging into your thumb take your little needle files out and just clean off the edge of the lever to round it down so it's not digging into your thumb that's what I did with mine works great
Excellent video. Thanks.
You are measuring the trigger reset incorrectly. Squeeze the trigger until it breaks. Maintain constant pull, and rack the slide only 1/4 of the way. Then you can release the trigger slowly to measure the true reset point. It is VERY short.
Great video, helpful and very infromative. I have been looking for links to great flashlight, holster and slide upgrade for red dot sights.
Just order a G3c od green. I really like its size. It packs a hell of a punch.
Mine is having light primer strike issues. Great video by the way. Liked and subscribed
Love your channel
I really appreciate you making this video. I just picked up a gc3 as my first firearm and I’m excited to get to know it over the coming weeks
I just bought one today especially considering it was on sale for the holidays😂. I would love to know how it's been working out for you?
same here man just picked it up yesterday. how's it been?
@@kayemkm1703any updates?
@@AlexanderVib👀 I certainly hope you're not referring to me, when you say man.
@@kayemkm1703 i wasn't initially but i do apologize if it came off that way
Really good video. Thanks!👍🏻
The g2c was my first pistol so I like the thumb safety, I keep one in the chamber and when I draw my thumb automatically hits that safety down training is key
I have the safety on while my gun is unholstered. When I holster the gun, i take the safety off. That way if I have to draw the gun in self defense it is ready to TCB. Otherwise I will place the gun back on safe before I draw. That routine works best for me.
I am having my G3c milled to fit a Holosun 507c. It will be my first red dot, and i am looking forward to shooting the gun.
Saw a G2C Vid that recommended getting the all steel guide rod & changing out the plastic striker sleeve w a metal one,so i did got them from amazon w the slide belt clip ,trigger is now more crispy
Great video. Chicago loves you.
Great video I appreciate the info
Love my g3c! They make50 rd drum & CAA MCK for the Taurus models now.. turns that pistol into a pcc beast! Highly recommend
Are the drum mags reliable for the Taurus g3c? And if so which brand. Thanks ! Have a good rest of your day
@@personperson6395 so far yes.. promag
That doesn't sound very concealable.
Own and love the GX4 Toro but picking up the G3C because it's compatible with the CAA MCK! It's going to be my home defense weapon/setup while my GX4 will continue as my EDC.
@@matthewfisher3201 for the MCK I recommend the G3 instead of the G3C.. the longer grip works better.
That black and green looks nice. If the grip texture and finger pads were black, and the barrel and font were green, it would look super super. I went with the stainless slide.
Yes I agree with you about magazines I have a 92x and I have seven magazines for it and I have a PPQ and I have six magazines for it but I have a PX4 strom compact and I have only two magazines came with the pistol I'll order at least four more magazines for it. I'm a Olight fan too.
I love this color combo
Keep tinkering sells great replacement trigger and spring for low cost major improvement on the travel and reset
The reset is short after the slide puts a new round in the chamber. Also you checked the trigger pull in double action, you should check it in single action.
Loaded Barrel Indicator is GREAT for what goes bump in the middle of the night.
Imagine you're in a low / no light situation or you don't want to take your eyes off your current focal point, etc... run your support hand across the top of your slide and you instantly know if you're chambered or not. 🤔
I bought my G2C on Gunbroker. The listed price was 220 for OD green. It ended up being more expensive than the local gun store. 25 for shipping and the store wanted 35 when I picked the gun up.
I have noticed that about on line sellers. I always get a lower tolal cost at my local Rural King.
Great review thanks 👍👍👍
First time viewer, loved your presentation
If your wanting to try a different light i have the tlr6 (with rail) light and lazer combo. The only problem is the dont make holster for that set up
After watching many videos of trigger pull test, yours are the highest. Most others come up with 5.5....
Thumb safety is good for one thing in my opinion. That new gun owners and specifically women. My wife wouldn’t carry a gun in her purse (holstered) unless it had an external safety. So I got her this firearm until she’s comfortable carrying without a safety and she can carry the Glock I originally got her. I think it’s an extra level of confidence for them until they’re comfortable with it and I’d rather her or anyone carry with a safety than not carry at all.
You're absolutely correct, I'm a women and also new to carrying. I couldn't imagine carrying a pistol without a thumb safety on it, to me you're just asking to injure your own self. I do have one regret with buying the S&W M&P Shield EZ with the grip safety now that I'm used to it. It's very comfortable and easy to shoot ( hence the name😂) however the grip safety is the stupidest thing ever🙄😢.
Get her a hammerless revolver and all she has to do is aim and shoot or just shoot no jacking around.
@@larrylinn1221 BULLSH**, go take notes from women, it's an insult to always refer women to buy woosy revolvers. We love pistols as well. Start watching RUclips channels "She Equips Herself" or "Geauga Firearms" their husband's agree with pistol carry also go learn something while you're at it. What a male chauvinist, SMH!!!
@@kayemkm1703 whatever is going to make you carry every single day. In my opinion, it’s one more thing to trip up on in the event you need your weapon fast. Draw and shoot is the quickest and only way for me. I’ll never ever carry a firearm that has a safety.
I don't point a Glock at my 🐓
My first Two guns were pt709 slims, when I divorced my wife I took both. Both were 189 and no issue pistols, like my gc3! I'd like to get another. And some more 17 and 15 round mags
I have gx4 and love it, best micro compact 9mm pistol until p365. Recently bought p365 for $499 with one free home defense ammo box, one extra 12 or 15 mag (total of 3 mags) and night sight.
I have a g2c but my buddy carries that same p365 I gotta say I love it
They just did a recall on that firearm. I know you have to be careful clicking on hyperlinks but google gx4 safety recall and it will point you to the rest to enter your firearm's serial number. Good luck.
Keep tinkering has an amazing trigger for g2c line
I actually just bought the G3 In desert tan with a black slide it was my first gun purchase I can’t wait to shoot it
I purchased my Taurus G3C about six months ago? I bought it locally for $249.99 and Taurus
at the time had a $25.00 mail in rebate. It has a great feel in my hand and I am very happy with it.
Your review was helpful in making my decision.
There is one thing I would disagree with you on your review. Using the second strike feature
to dry fire train is not realistic. The trigger pull is not the same of course and the reset is much longer.
I have also noted that the striker hit on the second trigger pull is not nearly as strong as a first trigger pull.
As a 1911 user. Thumb safety is important to me. I love carrying locked and loaded.
just get a lil grinder and grind the light clip down thats what i would do im about to buy this gun i love this vid thanks for the info man your awesome
Check out where the new CEO for Taurus USA came from, I hear he's a smart fellow who has brought with him the quality guidelines from his background at Sig Saur. That's right ✅️
Maybe you should try the trigger pull like a striker fire pistol that doesn't have restrike capabilities. You need to hold the trigger and rack the slide to get the true reset.
i think the biggest upgrade is that rear sight. the G2 series and before had those crappy adjustable sights that are pure garbage. i've owned a few of them over the years and had horrible luck. i ususally change them out for fixed sights. nice to see that they finally got rid of them.
Regarding your comments on the "loaded chamber indicator", I respect your preference. But there are two things to consider. 1) I don't believe the goal is to be able to see it while aligning the sights on a target and 2) you stated other manufacturers use an indicator at the end of the slide to tell you a round is chambered. Actually that indicator at the end of the slide, found on other guns, tells you the striker is cocked and not that a round has been chambered.
Well said.
Yup!!!!
It's almost like people don't realize that even though it has a thumb safety doesn't mean you ever have to use it. It's almost like it doesn't matter if it comes with it or not if you just don't want to use it
Taurus does make the G3 series without the thumb safety…so you can order it with or without I have one of each
It’s funny because I’m pretty sure Taurus says the 2 and 3 won’t fit the same holster lol but they indeed will. It’s the same damn gun. The 2 is actually better in my opinion. It has better sights that are adjustable and it has a loaded chamber indicator too.
Indicator is a hole on top now
I bought a G3C, I'm waiting for the procedures of the Brazilian Federal Police, here in Brazil it costs about 820 dollars, high taxes, a good weapon, but it's good to polish the barrel ramp.
Thanks for the informative video sir. I am considering buying Taurus G3C. My local sporting good store had them for
$249.99 and Taurus this month has a $25.00 mail in rebate. I have never owned a striker fired pistol .
I have been more of a 1911 and revolver guy. The Taurus G3C just seems too good a deal to pass up.
I do not a weapon on my body as I have always felt my appearance was enough to ward off evil doers.
Like Don Cervantes , Man of La Mancha, I am a knight of the woeful countenance.
I have the G3 and G3c and love them both...
I own g2c i had it cut and colored for holosun 507k love it in bronze. Short flat Trigger upgrade along with Lakeland upgrades. Love it. I also own G3 Toro. Ah hate the plate system i would have got a normal cut. Its probably getting put in an MCK anyway.
Exelent: Galloway Precision Asmund Short Stroke Trigger
Good video on a really good pistol. For the "loaded chamber indicator" - I've never considered the mechanical indicator to break a "visual" confirmation as much as a "tactile indicator" in the dark. I have both and both are fine, but confirmation in the dark can only be done by feel, so I still like the mechanical/ tactile indicator. I'm out on the ranch a lot in the dark, so it helps. It is, of course, a possible failure point, but so far I've never had one fail. Thanks for a doing a good video on these increasingly popular arms. I'm a new sub now.
The 'worst improvement' was removing the mechanical indicator. Some bean counter must have figured out that they save a few cents on every handgun sold.
They were $199 at Cabela's during black Friday.
I really enjoyed your video, I'm truly thinking the same one for my concealed carry, I really don't want to spend over $500 for a compact.
When I go to the range, I just move the Baldr forward, zero issues.
Taurus now has the G3X on their web site. Same compact slide and barrel length as the G3C, but instead of the 12rd "empty" pinky extension, a full 3 finger grip with 15rd G3 mags. The G3X would be good for appendix/IWB carry.
The Taurus website offers a 15 and 17 round magazine for the G3C which gives you the same or more capacity as the G3X
I want the opposite of that
No one mentions it, but just like Caniks (or at least the TP9 SFX) the G3C will fire with no magazine.
You can adjust the railing on the light. I own the same light and you can even switch the lever to close the other way including sliding it forward away from your finger.Nice G3C bro. Where'd you get the od green and how much more do they charge?
I think the G3c is a great firearm it looks good, reliable and great ergonomics. In my opinion I would like a more durable slide finish like the Gen 5 glock or similar. It would be nice if they came with a flush fit magazine base plate also and a 15 round magazine just to have those options out of the box. I know they make them but would be a nice feature to have out of the box. Lastly a deeper trigger guard cut to give you a little more room to get a firm grip and a higher purchase on the handgun. Mainly I would rather see a durable slide finish I think that is the most important thing. It's a budget handgun and I'm sure that would make the price a little higher.
The slide coating is a strong Teflon impregnated into the slide metal. On par with Glock slide finish if not better
Have you tried the ported barrel on the g series¿ I've heard that they damper the recoil on the shorter barrels I believe they are made by Lakeview in the US and are available on the Taurus parts site in a variety of finishes. Nice color combination of green I'm going to go w the brushed stainless slide. Thanks for the video keep up the good work.
I have the same pl-mini 2 light on my g3c toro, and am really liking that holster from Buck's. I see their website has an optics option, but do not see the option for the olight. How can I get it made like yours?
That grip you use (to each their own) is not a conventional grip. Your left hand is forward of the trigger guard - which is why you're running into the attach light. Usually you're left index finger goes directly over your right middle finger which is tucked under the trigger guard. But like I say, to each their own.
You had me up until that Constitution comment (mag sizes) - I must have missed that line stating specific mag sizes in the Constitution lol
The G3C starts out scratchy and gritty but wears in very nice. I am pleased with mine in 40 S&W. Didn't like the grip texture. Talon Grips fixed that.
Dude! Please release an update with the SA pull weight as you promised so I can finally get some sleep. Thanks!👍😂
Your checking the double action trigger pull. Rack the slide then check the trigger pull.
Ok....im 2 years late but i did do all those upgrades except for that front sight. In an adrenaline rush encounter, the front sight is the last thing im looking at. No time for that. Bang Bang first, target hit or miss, cover next, its not target practice. Oh well....just me. Fun at the range.
Like you said it has a trigger safety, so if you just left the manual safety off would that almost be the same as not having a manual safety?
I also have a G3C and am very happy with it. Where did you order the striker guide & guide rod from? I am not sure I would upgrade my slide though.. thanks!
Lake Line does trigger upgrades for G2C and G3C
I got a light and green dot laser combo for like 29 bucks for my g3c its nice too lol
Good video!!
The only thing missing in the Taurus DA/SA guns is a decocker; that would be ideal: rack, load, decock, and you are ready for a double action first round without having to remember to release the safety. Perfect.
Great vid ✌🏼❤️ & 🙂
They do make the G3 series in a number of safeties with or without left or right handed or ambidextrous very few stores will carry the options. I have one set up to where the safety acts as a slide lock not a safety.
Sorry, but the Canik device you are describing is a Striker Cocked indicator. The loaded chamber indicator is like the G2c and can checked by touch.
Shooting Illustrated has a article on the issue "Status Check: The Benefits of Loaded-Chamber Indicators"
My new G3c has several problems right out of the box. I contacted Taurus and they said to send it back. Taurus does not provide a shipping label like other companies do. You have to pay the shipping back. That starts to eat up any savings I got over a S&W Shield. ☹️
Good video and a good gun. Where can I get the steel striker guide and steel captured spring guide rod? Many thanks!
I have a G2 and G3 and prefer the G2 loaded indicator because in the dark I can confirm camber loaded with a simple touch. Also, you didn't assess the trigger pull accurately at all. It didn't bother you at the range because it was probably only ab out 5 1/2 lb if you rack the slide. Also, the reset is very short after the slide is activated. I carry with one in the pipe so it is cocked, so the pull is about 5 1/2 lb. Also, I like the manuel safety and have my thumb on the safety anytime it leaves the holster so it is automatic and I don't have to think about it.
the tigger has 2 stages if you know how to use them after fireing just go to the reset and its much better then that long pulll
I'm looking at getting a g3c did you get that color scheme done or buy it that way? I only see black available?
You showed the "double action" trigger pull. What is the single action trigger pull?
u can switch the light tightening switch either way
gun feels great but i bought one and the third time i used the slide release the front sight screw snapped in half and the sight flew off the gun
