IMHO the era of the Pumpkins was better than its reputation. I like Zeitgeist the album, and this is a really good performance. It's just hard to recapture the glory of the past.
1:23 It's kind of crazy....I only just now realized how *_rarely_* Billy uses palm muting. Many "hard rock" bands employ it quite a bit....but for some reason, that was never Billy's thing. Interesting.....never really noticed that before.
You can not expect this album to sound like mellon collie. Corgan is much older now and it is really best to listen with an artists ear and be forgiving of anything "not to par" with his older work. He sings about very different subjects and emotions on this new album.
If you want to hear some great early pumpkins look for a 1988 live at the metro performance. None of the songs are on their albums but it's great stuff really reminiscent of the late 80's; almost cure-esque.
@PantheonLincoln I completely agree! People give James and D'arcy way too much credit. They were incompetent musicians, and I'm surprised Billy didn't sack them before (he blamed Iha for the breakup). Billy may have been a jerk, but they're his songs and he had high expectations for how they should be played, etc. The new lineup have proven themselves worthy. Hell, according to Billy they're writing their own parts, which is awesome.
Gracias Dambizarre por la informaciòn, se me hace raro que sea mitad mexicana y mitad peruana llamàndose Ginger, lo chido es que se apellida Reyes como yo, jaja. Te agradezco la respuesta.
@DJMC141 p.s i love corgan and Satriani equally, i never cared for John Petrucci, doesn't mean i think he cant express himself or play well slow just because he plays fast. Me saying "better stay away from JP ; ) after you said you struggled with this solo, is clearly a friendly musicians joke, not a challenge. Yet you react defensively like i did when i first started guitar and played blues. Thats why i assumed you're a weekender, because experienced players tend to grow out of that thinking!
@DJMC141 typical reaction of all guitarists until they actually learn how to do it, then they grow up and see that expression is not based on tempo....a million notes can say more than the majority of weekender blues guitarists who think because they play slow they qualify for being "soulful" every kid i've taught guitar sounds like you until they learn you can express yourself HOWEVER you want to. It's pathetic when people disrespect something they cant do because they dont like it.
jimmy chamberlain is a hell of a drummer
Only the most underrated guitarist of the last 20 years, the man is a 6 string GOD IMO!
Don't you just love it when Billy plays a guitar solo?
IMHO the era of the Pumpkins was better than its reputation. I like Zeitgeist the album, and this is a really good performance. It's just hard to recapture the glory of the past.
billy is low key amazing at guitar

Corgan has a thing for hot female bass players
..as every band should!
Joe Tomasso Flea has to be the hottest thou
*Everyone* has a thing for hot female bass players.
Ginger Sling, formerly of Veruca Salt, not just got chick.
They know how to use thier fingers.
better than the album version
way better!
That solo has so much emotion in it too!
Note perfect performance of this song. Amazing.
Was a homage to the band The Scorpions, who SP were friends with during some tour.
Billy's finger tips must be made of steel! I split my finger open trying to play that solo.
That performance though.
This is SO much better than the lame promotional video for this song, but someone please, PLEASE take away Billy's Hot Topic membership card.
This a damn good live performance.
i dig this song more and more as time goes on. didn't care much when ZG came out
wow...this was a perfect preformance...better than the album version...perfect solo...perfect vocals...amazing
The size of JC arms...Monsters lol
Best Lineup

Effortless yet amazing drumming
I am low-key falling in love with Billy Corgan 12 years too late LOL
I seriously dont get how some people dont like Zeitgeist after a performance like this. They must be some legitimate nostalgic fucks then...
I love the hell out of this song.♥️
best solo on letterman
If you want to hear some great early pumpkins look for a 1988 live at the metro performance. None of the songs are on their albums but it's great stuff really reminiscent of the late 80's; almost cure-esque.
jimmy is a fuckingg drum masterr one of ma fav drummers
when he stops at 3:16 u know he's the fucking boss. Great one. U are the king.

@scaperune32 I wish they would have played some Zeitgeist stuff on the tour this month. :( Still amazing
:someone that wasn’t aware of lineup change::
“James and Darcy must have different clothes on or something”
Chamberlin is such a good drummer. Damn
Billy looks like he is 9 feet tall next to the bassist, super performance!
Amazing song.
1:46 Billy makes that shit look sooooo easy
Thank you Billy for giving us some of the worlds hottest bass players :)

Underrated song. Album. Band.

ava adore still my fav
That pretty much sums it up.
billy takes the piss out of shredders.
@DJMC141 p.s i'm lucky enough to love both fast and slow guitar, and appreciate them both while simply seeing them as expression
SEEN THEM LIVE! I DIED OF UNNATURAL CAUSES!
that was my first thought when I watched this live video! :D
Ginger Pooley's bass sound was the best , and she was the best bassist the group ever had
His voice was great !
lo maximo!!!
@malleebull75 I would be awesome to hear the same songs over and over again like a broken record!
He always does.
Gracias Dambizarre por la informaciòn, se me hace raro que sea mitad mexicana y mitad peruana llamàndose Ginger, lo chido es que se apellida Reyes como yo, jaja. Te agradezco la respuesta.
I'm going to cleveland too!

Man. These guys are on Letterman a lot. A LOT. Like, all the time. O_O
It'd be a greatest hits act. It would be a cash in. It would suck. The Pumpkins are rocking harder than ever nowadays.
BILLY : you are the BEST and a fucking GENIUS...saludos desde Argentina !!!
@yankeesarethebest224 and to be lead guitar/vocals you have to be a god
@atlasisbestteam Jimmy is playing with him. Great drummer but, he pretty much does anything corgan tells him.
@boywithcamera7 Again, the rhythm guitarist.
@anewamericanclassic Hmmm. So what albums do you consider to be "pretty good"?
@ShaqPlaque but them two are no D'arcy
@ryer98 They split up before when they ended the band. when billy brought it back = no JAmes Iha
@liebherr66 That looks like Jimmy. It's supposed to be Jimmy, anyway =)
@Alphoter The rhthym guitarist.
3:40-3:50

My brother walked by while I was watching this.
"Who pissed off Sheldon Cooper?"

@mitchqqqqqq yes and his live is so good
Why is the song called Tarantula? Curious about it.
103peanut Something to do with the Scorpions. Look it up on the English wikipedia of Tarantula.
Billy Corgan did well with Ginger Reyes Sling Pooley on bass.

@WagonOfFilth way beyond hot
