Check out Roy Orbison when he and George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, and Jeff Lynne formed the “ Traveling Wilburys “ and these legends made amazing music and cut an album together. Never so much STAR POWER ever in the history of modern day music .
Good stuff.
Yes!! Check it out!!
Never any such star-power. Never such an album.
@@danrieke9988 -I guess you must’ve lived under a rock then . The Traveling Willburys toured for a period and produced many big hits , like “ End of the Line “ , “ She’s my baby “, and “ Handle with care.”
The end !
Another vote for this. They were a true supergroup.
I was walking across a parking lot one day. As I passed a beautiful man he looked at me and said “Lord, have mercy”. That was 30 years ago and that beautiful man has been the best husband a girl could ask for. If he had growled at me I would’ve kept on walking. 😂
Lol
Shirtless Shon, you always elevate my mood. Your reactions are spot-on and your personality always leaves me feeling better than I had before. ❤ Thank you.
Born in 1936 Roy Orbison was the original 'Man In Black' and has lots of great songs. He is one of those we can truly call a 'Legend'. His folks gave him a guitar at six and at 8 he had played live on the radio! By 9 he had his own weekly radio show! He got signed by Sam Phillips of Sun Records in 1956, had 22 top 40 hits between 1960 to 1966, mostly wrote all his hits. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1987, the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1989, Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum in 2014. He received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement and five other Grammys. In 1988, he co-founded the Traveling Wilburys with George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, and Jeff Lynne.
He also was in another 'Super-Group' during an impromptu session at Sun Records. It came to be known as the "Million Dollar Quartet". It had Roy of course, Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Johnny Cash. An article about the session was published in the Memphis Press-Scimitar under the title "Million Dollar Quartet". First released in Europe in 1981 with 17 tracks. Later released as The Complete Million Dollar Session. In 1990, the recordings were released in the United States as Elvis Presley: The Million Dollar Quartet.
Roy wrote this song in just 40 Min. Van Halen does a great cover of 'Oh Pretty Woman' that is well worth your time as well.
Check out 'You Got It' or 'Only The Lonely' next.
Cheers.
I grew up in an era where men openly displayed their fascination for the female. We dressed for them and they dressed and groomed for us. The appreciation went both ways. Check him out singing Crying.
Okay, since you asked, quick note on Rrrrowrr, The Growl.
Roy said he went to the movies in his hometown as a kid and heard an actor do it as a gorgeous woman walked past. He thought it was so cool, he went home and spent time figuring out how to do it!
The movie was Paleface. The gorgeous actress was Jane Russell, and the growler...
none other than Bob Hope!
Roy used the growl in other songs, and the Traveling Wilburys even had him do it!
Some years ago, Ringo Starr wanted to drop it into one of his songs, so Roy's widow, Barbara, agreed and sent him an approved sample of it right from Roy's archives!
Roy lost his wife in '66 and two years later he lost two sons... tragic personal life. My favorite is 'Only The Lonely' , 'It's Over' and many more... I believe Roy was also the first to use the order of verse and chorus differently in songs, so he was an innovator in the music industry
Roy’s growl was killer in this song! He writes great music and his vocals are wonderful! Love Roy!❤
I do the growl to my wife a lot. She gets a kick out of it, she knows it's from this song.
One of the true GREATS!!!!!!
Roy has that silky voice, he could make any song sound good. Major hits throughout the years.
Roy deserves a deep dive. No one sang about heartache like Roy. Check out "Crying" or "In Dreams".
Elvis loved his singing so that says enough.
This is an all time classic. Played by every garage band in the world.
Those lines worked for your grandparents. They may work for you too.
A true classic. Evidenced by the fact it’s still being covered in 2024. And that a movie borrowed the title.
Yeah, until the late 1960s songs were short because it was all about the radio play. Under 3 mins was the norm so that they could squeeze in as much variety (and breaks for commercials) as possible into a given period of time. Then when free-form FM radio evolved we found ourselves listening to whole album sides at once with minimal interruptions. For me living in northern NJ my ears were glued to 102.7 WNEW-FM from NYC. This song was a huge hit for Orbison and enjoyed a resurgence when it was featured in the 1990 movie Pretty Woman.
Roy is an icon. Love this song so much. Check out Home Free's version. It will blow your mind. Love your reaction!
So many Roy O songs to discover.
React to Roy's "Only the Lonely" and "Crying" you'll love them both.
Trust me, it worked back in the day, women loved the growl! 😊
Back in those days, songs had to be short due to ad requirements. Once those requirements were discontinued, songs became longer.
Hey Shon, I knew that grrrrowl would get you! 😂
sold seven million records- the big o is the goat
Roy had a great voice and this song was a monster hit.
When we were young women we often used to get certain whistles from young men especially on building sites!!!
Yes my husband has growled at me like that several times lol
Same my hubby does it as well. lol
Love your reactions! So fun loving! Like you have a ball! Big pick me up! Make me smile.
When this song came out, all the ladies loved it and fell in love with him! You should check out the movie Pretty Woman with Julia Roberts and Richard Gere
MERCY! 😂 dude I think you are my favorite reaction channel. Keep up the great work.
The “Voice”!
A great artist and song. Great reaction! ❤🙏
"You Got It" ........Hot!!...and "Only The Lonely" and "Candy Man"!!
The older songs had a different format. They had length requirements for radio.
"Crying" and "Blue Bayou"
Shon - search for clips from the 'Black and White Night' concert back in 1987.
Roy finishes the concert with this song, and his backing band includes legends such as Bruce Springsteen, showing the high regard Roy Orbison was held in by the music industry.
In fact Elvis himself said Roy had a perfect voice, and was the greatest singer in the world
He wrote blue suede shoos for Elvis If i remember correctly
Lol! Great reaction to one of the Greats! ❤
After leaving his thick eyeglasses on an airplane in 1963, Orbison was forced to wear his prescription Faosa sunglasses on stage and found that he preferred them.
Not only that, he left with his shades the next day for England to tour with the Beatles! Plenty of pictures were taken, and Roy suddenly had a "persona"...cool, mysterious, shades? at night? indoors?
Oh, my, my!
Roy was a great writer and a great voice. Both are easily recognized. He was such a romantic and such a tragic figure too.
BTW,before the 70s there were very few songs that made radio play that were 3 minutes long or longer. In 64 or 65 when the Righteous brothers released You've Lost That Loving Feeling,it was predicted it would never get air-time or they would chop up the song to shorten it for radio. I don't know what caused songs to be so short back then but by the 70s we were seeing more longer songs.
Great Voice.
Lol. The first time I heard this song was from the movie pretty woman😂😂😂😂😂
One of the most iconic songs ever to have been written and performed. It inspired the movie " Pretty Woman" , starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere. Its one of the most watched movies ever and can be seen in tv almost every week. I'm surprised the song isn't familiar to you, not from you watching the mocvie, but for its popularity and longevity. When the movie was made this song had a rebirth as new generations got to hear it. Somewhat like The Righteous Bros. "Unchained Melody" that got a second life when used in the movie, "Ghost".
And yes, back in the day men did say " mercy" and some did give a little growl if the saw a woman they liked. Simpler time and simpler style and more respectful.
Check out...."Only The Lonely". and. "Its Over"
Roy Orbison was Rip a great singer/songwriter. All his stuff is good. Check out Black and white night live. Probably one of the best male singers ever !
Monster hit back in the day...!
Check out Roy’s YOU GOT IT. ❤
Shon, my Friend!
You wanna know what to say to the ladies? React to the song WITCH DOCTOR by Dave Seville. Trust me. Works every time...60% of the time
Cool insights there Shon!
Also, “Cryin’” is amazing
Hey Shon- please check out the sing Indian Summer- written by The Gatlin brothers ( Larry) and Barry Gibb ( Bee Gees) in 1985. Featuring Roy Orbison! The harmonies are unreal

That growl makes me think.

Roy was great!
I grew up listening to Roy Orbison, he was one of my mother's favourite singers when she was a teen. I can sing along to every song he released, same with a lot of rockabilly, early folk-rock all the way to heavy metal. My folks had quite the eclectic taste, and passed it on to me.
drove all night urgent , weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

With a bunch of ⭐️SUPERSTAR 🌟
You're going to love the guitar solo on this version
Keep the good work my friend 👍🏼 👌 👏
Roy Orbison's song "In Dreams" is so good that listening to it while he was sleeping made Bono of U2 dream a new song that he and The Edge started to write up. They had a rough version finished that they played in the warmup before their Wembley show that night, and Roy Orbison made an unannounced backstage visit after the concert where Bono played it for him. That song became "Mystery girl", and was a hit for Orbison as well.
I grew up listening to Roy. Great singer and songwriter. RIP.
That was a great memory , reminds me of my 2nd husband lol. Thanks Shon
For me, the best male voice of all time (apart from opera singers). But to hear his full range, there are even better songs. Great reaction.
Vanhalen did a cover of this, a upbeat banger also
Shon up gotta do the Live version of Pretty Woman! It's much better and he's backed up Springsteen, Jackson Browne plus a lot more! Billy Idol in the crowd going ham!😎😎😎
Van Halen covered this in 1982, it was one of their first big hits
Have you seen the Julia Roberts movie “Pretty Woman”? Of course, named after this song, and on the soundtrack.

One of the most amazing voices ever. His tone and range are unmatched. Roy's posthumous version of "I Drove All Night" is very worth a listen: ruclips.net/video/m5N9IHqqGcA/видео.html

Double Shot (Of My Baby’s Love) - The Swingin' Medallions
ruclips.net/video/AalipGj0utc/видео.html
Here is another song about a woman that really got to a man. If you like Roy growling in "Pretty Woman". "Double Shot (of My Baby's Love)" has a scream in it. And the song gets right to the point fast as well as being old school. I think this was the early 1960's? And you might like the picture of this song; our man is not drunk on wine; he's drunk on his baby's love. Judging from past reviews I think there is a really good chance you will like this one.
He was a blind man!
Home free recently covered this song you should react to the video
lol back in the day Roy got all the women
Now check out Van Halen's cover of this song
Bro, you gotta check out BLV's song "Badunkadunk"! The music video will have you laughing and the song is super catchy!
If my husband growled at me like that it would definitely work.
You gotta check out Van Halen cover of this song 🎵 man

Loved your reaction!! Maybe you could learn to growl only in very intimate moments!!
Songs had to be under a.certain time for the radio I. Think it was 3 mins .
… but you got to check out Van Halen’s version 🎉🎉🎉,,
Did I forget that you have a cat? Like you even more! GRRRRR
This is about lust not LOVE
Any longer than 3 min and the chances of the song getting played on the radio went way down.
I'm a woman, and I've used the growl very successfully! Also, I forgot there was one in this tune!!! 🥰
men don't talk to woman like that anymore because feminist made it a bad thing... This kind of talk got women to blush...
