After listening to the kidnapping story, I ended up just crying to my partner. That was honestly one of the hardest stories I've ever listened to, because she could have just taken the baby and gotten away with it all because she was a woman and he was a man. The guy got hurt because of it and she just----- left.
He had to watch in torment as he was held down to be kept from getting to his daughter as she's taken away. And if the mom hadn't been there, She (the baby) would be gone.
And something about that shattered my heart.

@@shoom7103 The thing is, they DID call the Police. The kick to the ribs was way out of line but restraining a criminal until Police arrives does more to put them behind bars than simply answering questions... most of the time, Police won't follow up if the crook is gone.
But they should have kept the woman there too and restrained her... she would've screamed just as much as the guy did about it being her kid, but realistically they have no way to tell who was telling the truth.
I'm more pissed off about the fact they just let her walk away... hell, if it weren't for the mother, I'm pretty sure all those guys could have been charged with being complicit to child abduction. Would've learnt a very hard lesson that women can be criminals too.

finally some smart comment about it. Look above. Some of those people... "If i was there, i would use telepathy and would knew right away who`s the bad guy, or in that instance: bad girl"
Same people, who would bitch moan and complain about lack of empathy, if in similar situation nobody would react...
There is awesome example of that somwhere on youtube: woman was riding a metro in London, or something, and some guy was really aggressive toward her. And "she didn`t know what to do, and nobody helped her..."(equality, cunt! Deal with it on your own), until some Eastern European guy helped her- because East of Germany, over here there still are men, who think that helping woamn is a man`s duty, pride and joy... Anyway she basically said something like: i don`t blame that guy, he clearly has some problems, but there were two english men, and they pretended that they see notihng...
So basically she blames two guys, who knew that they can get into trouble, because she`d sue their ass later back into stone age- sexual harassment, or some shit. But the guy who attacked her- that guy is practically INNOCENT in her eyes...
"Oh, yes i got stabbed. I don`t blamethe man, he clearly needed those money for drugs. I blame society"... I hope those people won`t breed
And then everyone is surprised that people don`t want to help, or are confused- who needs help

Also, I don't think committing grievous bodily harm counts.
I went and checked, to quote the PDF I found "If a bystander decides to act as a good Samaritan and chooses to intervene, he or she will be liable to the victim if rescue actions were unreasonable, and indeed aggravated the plight of the sufferer. "
Also: "A point is reached, however, when someone who intervenes is considered to have assumed a legal duty to act, but the rule and limits have not been tested. "
To me, that means at the point the wife took down the actual kidnapper, they would have been duty bound to stop her as well, not doing so puts everyone in the wrong.
As for assisting in robbery/kidnapping, I can find examples, but none say the aftermath. however, I see nothing in any write-up for assisting someone doing something wrong and the good Samaritan being immune from it in anything other than providing medical care or rescue attempts. At best, I can find that aiding and abetting may not apply to robberies, but nothing on kidnappings.

Those things happen more often than you'd dare think. In my country, the M.O. is usually the kidnapper making small talk with a child-carrying (preferably lone) parent commuting on a public transport. Once they have enough info (name, age, growth milestones, favorite food/toy) the kidnapper will wait for the next stop/station. Once the vehicle arrived, the kidnapper will casually carry the child RIGHT OFF THEIR PARENT'S OWN ARMS and proceed to try and disembark.
Unfortunately, this M.O. has a startlingly high chance of success, because the parent will either be too shocked/dumbfounded to chase after the kidnapper before the door closes and the vehicle leaves the stop, or try to retrieve their child back only for the kidnapper to cry for help and the real parent will be restrained by the surrounding volunteer. In some cases, the kidnapper will have a partner ready and waiting to pose as the kidnapper's wife/husband to convince the crowd of the child's ownership. The only way to prevent this from happening is by having your husband/wife travel with you and your child (the kidnapper will change target once your wife/husband joins in on the conversation), or by refusing to make small talk (which might make you seem unpleasant, but it's the safer option when you're alone), or a last ditch effort would be to hope your child can recognize their real parent and call out to you (of course this is only applicable if your child is at least 1 year old).
      Travel safe parents.

And I did say "usually" ends with karma, which means "not always." Have fun voting for Trump.

If these were fairy tales, yes. Supposedly these are TRUE stories. I'm sure I'm not the only person to have ever seen the bad guy get away scot free. That's just how life is. The value in an unsatisfied ending like this is that as a cautionary tale there may be a corrective action to be learned from it. To tie a pretty ribbon on the end of it by saying the kidnapper got caught or killed only serves to give the reader/viewer/listener the false perception that everything will always work out. I value stories like this because it reveals yet another way humans can be evil to one another. Don't you think it's better to be aware so to prepare yourself?

16:30 Just one tip for every "Good samaritan" if you're going to intervine DON'T LET ANYONE LEAVE UNLESS EXTREMELY NECESSARY. If you are going to pin down the man who supposedly is kidnapping/assaulting a woman keep her there or at least verify that she is indeed who she claims. All could be avoided simply by keeping both of them there until someone could prove the baby was theirs. I would 100% press charges against the guy that pinned me down, I don't care if it came from a good intention, it's dangerous and that person should be held accountable for more than the physical damage he dealt to the father.
Edit : Also I didn't really like these kind of stories but thats my opinion, I don't want to believe mankind is worse than I though after the video, no one was punished for those crimes and it wasn't satisfaction what I felt at the end.

It's generally shocking how easy it can be to kidnap a child. here in Germany, a TV program did a segment on this, where they talked to some mothers who were thoroughly convinced that their elemtary school children were smart enough (and told not to trust strangers enough) that they wouldn't go with a man who promises them candy or whatever.
Sure enough, the show set up a hidden camera at a playground, the parents brought their children there to play (one by one, not all together), and went just out of sight for a moment. The show then had a guy come up to the kids (again, one by one) and within less than a minute, he was able to convince all of them to come with him. If you don't have a creepy appearance, it's very easy to gain a child's trust.
The mothers were obviously shocked, and well, how could you not be when you realize just how easy it is to commit a crime as terrible as this?

Pick-pockets run rampant, and they actually DO have a kidnapping problem, because the kids are made dependant on drugs and are put on the streets as beggars or prostitutes.

Same. I had to stop and fucking BAKE COOKIES to calm down. I literally made peanut butter chocolate chip cookies while reminding myself that the baby must get rescued or else it wouldn't be on Reddit. I have no idea why that one terrified me so much -- I'm not even a parent -- but that just tapped into something primal in me. It was devastating.

As a young father of a 9 month old, that story was scary. One of my biggest fears is losing control of situations and especially losing control of my personal space and mobility. The fact that everyone focused on keeping him there and not a single person focused on keeping her there is horrifying.

do you know how society is treating men right now? any middle aged man at a children’s park is seen as a pedophile. even if said man is just an innocent farher watching his kid play. and whenever a man gets sexualy assaulted, no one believes him when he calls for help, and his female rapist could successfully lie about being the victim.. i could rant about this to you all day but you should do your own damn research

The way you convey the first story is really good. It felt like you were in front of me talking to me. Usually, when my friend talks about a scary experience I'm not too frightened, but when you tell this story.. is chilling. It sent chills down my spine. Goosebumps on my whole body. Assisted with the priming, it made the story better.
