      Yup. Any girl with online dating experience knows to go somewhere with lots of people, don't ride in the person's car to a second location, and give several people the name of your date and meeting location AND arrange for someone to text you during the date just to check you're okay. It's cause we're all murderinos and have true crime obsessions, so we KNOW all the shit that can happen. Online dating isn't necessarily any more dangerous than regular dating for women, since the majority of women who are murdered are murdered by people they know. It doesn't matter WHERE you know them from.

      DJ Diamond While I generally agree with that advice, it doesn’t sound like that was even an option in the story that was highlighted in this video. The vehicle/camper was parked in a way that it was intentionally blocking the road, preventing any traffic from going through (preventing OP from leaving the neighborhood), trying to force drivers to get out of their vehicle to investigate thinking that’s their only option.

    • @Vampkiki
      @Vampkiki 4 года назад +18

      The slump over the wheel isn't always a bad issue...blocking the road was the clue. The last time it happened to me was my elderly neighbor who had a heart attack, and I was out for a walk in the evening and saw him. I called the police for a check in him as they were only a couple blocks away... he was startled and didn't remember being unconcious... But said he was fine. He actually died a couple weeks later from a massive heart attack... and this was a pre-cursor issue of it.

    First situation reminds me of something mom should’ve taken my word for and told my stepdad. Knowing damn well he was ballsy enough to investigate, would’ve saved our entire street from feeling utterly violated.
    So, senior year was a tough one. On top of all the obvious stress senior year brings, my grandma was sent home on hospice to live out her last days. Since mom was the only one of her kids who had enough space, added with the fact I was an only child and grown (son has 2 kids, other daughter has 3), it was an added bonus she could at least be in a place where it was quiet so she could relax. That meant mom and I would alternate nights to stay with her, and get her what she needed. Which meant no sleep, which I didn’t mind at all, considering I was used to it, due to the workload from school, so all that really changed my nights was going from doing my homework in my room, to our spare bedroom where she stayed.Lastly, I was sick ALL THE TIME. my immune system has always been shit, but I guess the overall stress increased that issue, so I lost count of hospital visits for severe issues after 15 times. From the time school let out to around 7pm everyday, the entire family would come over to hang out, all the little ones knowing by now it was a mandatory whisper zone, until they reached my room. She was still very aware of everything (she was sent during the second school week, passed three days before graduation) and would constantly get onto the adults for not letting her precious little grand babies play. That if she heard them get onto the kids one more time she would, and I quote, “STRANGLE Y’ALL WITH MY OXYGEN TUBE,” which will forever be the funniest damn thing out of that woman’s mouth.
    Thursday night, of the week before spring break, her eldest decided to stay the night so mom and I could have a break, and I especially could get some sleep. After finally being cleared to go back to school from double pneumonia (profusely begging my teachers to send my work so I wouldn’t have to play catch-up and them finally giving in, as they knew my situation), I’d only have a half-day going back, as our annual choir trip left school at 12 on the Friday before break, and came back home the night before Monday of break. I was especially excited for that. Most of that night was spent packing my bag, as I’d only just gotten out of the hospital the day before, so I got my shower, and was finally in bed by 12:30, a first for me. I start to dose of until I hear a “click” from my doorknob. It was an old house, and my doorknob had to be twisted a certain way to properly open, those unknowing to that always thought it was locked. Assuming it was my aunt, I said, “Just twist the other way, it’s unlocked,” then heard a muffled male voice say, “oh shit”
    Sincerely hoping it was my imagination, and not what I knew for a FACT it was deep down, I sat up, and the shadow of feet I desperately hoped for weren’t there. And the fear set in because, well the only other door apart from my closet was one which led to the backyard. See, just two years before, the house was robbed, as we lived in a fairly secluded area. Three other people on our street, but that was it. What door did the first guys use to get in? My door. And it wasn’t by picking locks, they kicked it in. Which wasn’t an easy fix as it had a new deadbolt installed when we moved in, so their kicks ripped up the frame AND part of my wall. Even two years after the fact it still scared me to even be near the door, so I leapt out of bed and bolted to my mom and stepdad’s room. Being he was a heavy sleeper, he heard none of our conversation but was highly pissed the next morning mom didn’t wake him up. Every time I said, “mom I know what I heard” she just met it with, “you’re just sleep deprived. Go back to bed.”
    So I did, and don’t remember how exactly I fell asleep, but my mom woke me up with, there’s a sheriff outside who needs to speak with you, no questions until you’re out there. We’re trying to do this without alarming your grandma.” So, I spent the next few minutes explaining what I heard, all while my stepdad gave mom a death glare and mom gave me an apologetic look. I later learned, there were tracks leading to that very door, and every single car that had unlocked doors was broken into and raided. Tires were then slashed. Luckily the only thing they got from us was a bb-gun my stepdad was in the midst of repairing for his little nephew, and all the napkins from his glove compartment? One of the officers ended up taking me to school that day with a late pass. Mom and my stepdad called off work, and an e-mail was sent to all my teachers that I was allowed to go out in the hall and answer my phone at any time that day if it rang, no questions asked. By the time we were set to leave, I called one last time to check in and all was good. Came back to news that those stupid fucks used one of the stolen credit cards, that’d already been canceled by that point (duh), at our local gas station to attempt purchasing a $2 drink and were caught after they proceeded to threaten the cashier when the card didn’t work... with the fucking BB gun that didn’t even work from my stepdad’s car. So after pulling the silent alarm whilst being in one of probably the most traumatizing moments of her life, she triggered the silent alarm with her knee. Upon realizing the gun didn’t work they were about to run. And run they did, about six steps until police opened the doors. So, extremely scary, but they got caught.

    I had something similar happen as the young cop. I had come out of work, wearing my cowboy hat and duster, and headed into the parking garage when an attractive young woman stopped me and asked me to give her a ride up the street. I'm a very nice guy and said sure. She climbed into my pickup truck and gave me directions down the street. I realized we were headed into the very bad part of town so I reached down under my duster and adjusted my equipment belt for better access. It was at this point that she noticed my badge and belt. She directed me behind a building and, of course, there were a group of men waiting there. She quickly shook her head at one of the men, jumped out of my truck and ran to them. I left.

    the first story reminds me of something that happened when I was a highschooler. me and this girl were volunteering at an art museum, and on our break, we went exploring. we came to this long, empty corridor with locked doors on either side and a dead end. suddenly, there was a man behind us. we didnt want to seem weird or suspicious, so we kept walking, and pretended not to see him. he walked with us, and soon, the distance between us and him was closing. just as he's nearly behind us, he says, "i'm not following you or anything."
    turns out he really wasnt, he ended up going into one of the doors and left us alone. he still made it really awkward by saying that though, and i will always remember that moment.

    I remember when I lived on my own, I'm a female and at the time I was 19 and at 2 in the morning there was suddenly pounding on the door. I cautiously went and peeked through the blinds of my kitchen window which was pointed at the walkway to my front door. luckily it wasn't anything like these stories, it was just my big sister and her (at the time) fiancé (now husband), they had just left one of the bars that were about a 10 minute walk from my apartment and they had to pee, they lived on the other side of town and couldn't hold it till they got home (luckily they were walking instead of driving drunk). I let them use my bathroom and told them to call me when they got home so I would know they got back ok, they apparently forgot. so I called later after I woke up, they didn't even remember going to my place, getting home or even leaving the bar, they were that drunk, but at least they got home ok.

Single girl living by herself was woken up by a drunk neighbor trying to break into my house while banging on the door and screaming.
      I didn’t open the door and explained that he lived down the hall. After another 10 minutes of banging and listening to him call me all sorts of names for “breaking into his house”, I told him if he didn’t go away I was going to call the cops.
      He stopped and went back down MY stairs instead of walking down the hall. I saw him a week or 2 later going to work so I guess he figured it out.
      He never said anything to me about it.

    My mom told me a similar story to the creepy one at the end. When she was 22 (a few years before I was born), she got pulled over by someone she thought was a cop. This was at night, so I guess he had flashing lights. He told her to follow him to the police station but he then took her into a really sketchy neighborhood. My mom, sensing that something was fishy, turned around and sped off only to get pulled over by actual, legitimate cops. Once she told them the story, they went looking for the guy and they actually found him. My mom had to testify against him in court, and apparently he'd done this before. Scary...

      If I lived in these areas, then yes. But if you live in the city, in an apartment, and work a 9-5 so you only go out during the week for dinner and on weekends with friends, I don't think you need one. I think you should get a knife, taser, or pepper spray. That or a combination of the 3. Especially if you live alone and are a woman. Now if you live in a house outside of the city, I personally wouldn't get one because of my mental health but I would encourage those who can have one in the house, have one. Also keep in mind that you have maintenance come when you might not be home, the fire department once a year, meter checks, and etc when you live in an apartment. So you have to be more conscious about hiding it or the safe from curious eyes than if you own a home. That's just my opinion though, which is flexible.

    • @F3ARtheGERBIL
      @F3ARtheGERBIL 4 года назад +6

      Jon McElrone depends what city and type of city it is. Some cities I’d say for sure, but others that have a lot of foot traffic, police presence, and a lot of public places you could enter; not so much. I would have no issue with someone legally having one but I don’t think that everyone needs one in that case.
      The issue also could be there being too many good guys with guns in a situation. For instance, you have the ones who know who the bad guy is, and then the ones who may go to help but show up to multiple guys with guns out, unaware who is the bad guy or guys.
      Then the cops show up and have to figure that out once on scene. Hopefully no good guys get hurt but it has happened before.
      You also could have a Karen didn’t see it all and mistakes the good guy for the bad guy and proceeds to freak out and tell the cops the good guy is bad or god forbid she gets her husband who has a gun and fucks everything up.
      Now if it wasn’t as easy to get a gun in some states I wouldn’t care as much but you have states like Arizona that allows you to concealed carry a pistol WITHOUT a permit as long as you are at least 21... LIKE WTF?! That’s why people there who give the finger on the highway sometimes get shot through their door in the leg. Then they call the cops and don’t have info on the car so all they can do is tell them to drive to the hospital. Thankfully I don’t live there anymore but my step dad is in Phoenix PD so I hear some crazy things. And then my plug in Arizona used to be in a gang and so he’s told me some things as well. So honestly you should have a gun there at this point but it would be nice to keep them out of the hands of some less competent people.

    • @jonmcelrone9389
      @jonmcelrone9389 4 года назад +8

      @@F3ARtheGERBIL There isnt a single police department in the world that has a 1 minute response time and that 1 minute could be the difference between you being alive or dead. Regardless of what city you live in nothing says some bad guy wont decide to travel into your high income low crime town and try and break into your home. Your good guy shooting another good guy has been proven loose at best multiple times. That recent church shooting had tons of people draw a gun and no one shot the good guy who shot the bad guy. Most incidents last FAR less time then police response times so the chance cops show up as you are shooting and mistake you for the bad guy is pretty much zero. Reholster or drop your gun if the police are arriving. Most people dont get involved let alone a Karen, the chance a Karen also has a husband with a gun even smaller, the chance a Karen has a husband with a gun that will shoot someone just because they are told to is even smaller lol. You shouldn't have to pay the government to carry a gun and becoming proficient is a personal responsibility.

    the story of the murderer casing the house legitimately gave me goosebumps - that's fucked up. And it reminds me of a story my friend told when we were teenagers. He was laying on his couch which was under a big picture window that went along the left side of the front of the house when looking at it from the road. He got a funny feeling when laying there and got up to see if he could find the source of his uneasiness. When he got up and threw off the blankets to stand up, he looked at the window and lo and behold, there was a guy staring in the window with a rather strange and blank look on his face. He screamed bloody murder in shock and his mother came running in from her bedroom. He told her what was going on and she told him to get back downstairs into the basement. She looked out the door and couldn't see anyone and went back inside. She consoled him and told the guy was gone. With it being the winter time, when they got up in the morning and looked out again, they saw footprints from the road leading to the window and then away from the window back to the road, and disappeared when they lead to some tire tracks. Nothing ever happened like that again but I never stayed at his house again after he told me that. His house was out in the farmlands around a small Canadian town and pretty isolated from other places. Just creepy as hell and always makes lock all doors and windows even though I live in a city now. Fuck that place lol

    We had someone ringing our doorbell at 3 AM, one time. Freaked everyone out... But it was our neighbour just coming home from work, wanting to warn us that our garage was wide open. 😅 WOOPS.
    Thanks, neighbour! I'm glad you're super considerate, and not crazy AF. 😊 Their son apparently enjoys shoveling their walk, and he occasionally does ours, too! Very kind family. They're perfect neighbours!
    We live in a pretty decent area, though. Suburbs with not a lot of crime, thankfully.

      This is exactly the reason I'm against those retards who want to ban guns. How will the police help me in a situation like this? Fuck that.

    I got a story that fits this subreddit pretty good I think.
    So, bit about myself. I was 20 years old at the time, living with a roommate (male, even though I'm a girl we are just old friends) in my small home town. I worked at the local 7-Eleven on the night shifts but tonight was one of my nights off. It was 2am and I was relaxing in shorts and a tank top, playing some Skyrim on my Xbox, when I hear a noise outside my open window (blinds closed), which is floor level because I lived in the basement appartment. "No big deal, probably a stray cat or something." I think to myself. A while later (maybe 10 minutes or so) I hear the noise again from the exact same distance and position. I decide to peek out through the blinds and see whatever it is. Low and behold, there is a man standing outside my window wanking and facing my window. I left and semi-woke my friend who has BB guns and other things that look like real guns but aren't. He asks me if the guy is still there I go back to my window and see that he isn't and my friend told me not to worry, going back to sleep, and that if he came back to wake him and he would scare him with a gun. I thought I heard the noise again a few hours later so i called the cops in a panic. They asked me some questions (like why I was awake at 4am) and said they'd keep an eye out. I still look up at my window sometimes if I hear a rustle outside my window, even if it's during the day.

    we need some subtle lets not meets, like when you meet that one kid who eats kit kat in those *horrendous bites*. well to the kid that eats kit kats like that, lets not meet.
