@mightymushroom4980 I mean the tech for destruction is still in modern engines like unity, unreal, and frostbite. They just don't program it due to consoles and its hard to balance gameplay around destruction when everyone wants to make a "competitive shooter". You don't even need to have the lo poly look. Teardown and such are low poly because it's easier to run on a variety of systems and it's a style choice, because the time it takes to make realistic looking models, and textures. Which small teams don't want or are unable to spend the time on.

@@Sp33dGames I'd be happy with even 30/30 if the maps are well made, more players doesn't mean better game. less capture points means more people per capture point. if there were only 3 and each had 10 people go to them, that would still be a 10/10 fire fight in each section. I've played games that are like 5/5 and it still felt like nonstop action and fun.
all making the server bigger does it make it a bigger headache to get the net code right, means the maps have to be bigger to compensate larger player base and therefore a shitload more running to get to an objective. bf2042 flopped on launch because people spent ages running from 1 area to the next and getting killed before or as they got there.
finals works because its small teams, high destruction really needs less players otherwise the whole map is flat in yeah 5 minutes and then its just a snipe feast and vehicle game, also I feel battlefield should have less vehicles, 1 tank per team, 1 AA per team, and like 2-4 jeeps depending on map size. make the tank have to reload so it has to drive back to a loadout point and rearm etc. make a battlefield that operates like an actual battlefield instead of people running around endlessly with no sense of direction.

It is important to note BF4 only had one skyscraper collapsing entirely which was exclusive to one map and it wasn't gameplay destruction, it was an animation event triggered by a button press. Nothing like BC2's dynamically destroyed buildings that completely leveled themselves once all destructible walls were destroyed. That is what we need in a BF game, gameplay, not movie scenes.

We have to change it up!" But then that just means they don't do the things that the previous games in the franchise did best. It's like they'd rather feel special than stand on the shoulders of giants.
I'm reminded of this during a sit-down with some developers who worked on Diablo 4. They were terrible at the game they worked on and basically said in the interview they just wanted to try and get into the game industry because it looked fun and profitable.

That’s why I’m thinking that this job listing isn’t actually for the next Battlefield game, but for the one after that, for the next generation.
Large scale/ realistic destruction and the physics for it is something that surely would have to be settled on and have the work started for early in the games development because that would be a core design choice as it can’t really be an after thought?
So either the listing is for a later battlefield game they’re prepping to start development for, or the next Battlefield is only just going into the early stages of development now which I find hard to believe.

As well as watching other players in the game killing other team members just as fast at full health.

Your shots and your opponents shots are registered by exact same server by exact same rules, so his shots are registered the same way in nearly same ticks. But you are declaring that it does not work that way which is literally impossible.

@@dethhetz I can only report what I see in game play right in front of me. I think that is pretty well described in my original post?
I also comment sometimes in the in-game text chat and some other players mention they experience the same thing.
To my understanding (I know very little about gaming server technology) this is what netcode is supposed to deal with. Bad netcode = hit registry not proper and lag making enemies killing you even when you already are behind cover (buildings and other thick non-penetrable material), as well as being killed by an enemy right in front of you seeing you hit the enemy with say 5-6 hit BEFORE the enemy starts shooting and kills you with 2-3 hits, full health. Or the even funnier situation when you get killed by enemy right in front of you, close range, even before you see and hear the player fire the weapon. (Not as usual but happens surprisingly often.)
As I understand this might also be the cause of players having very high ping, but that doesn't make sense to me since I should have the benefit with my low ping. And this is where ping equalisation comes in (or what it's called in correct terms) where the high ping player actually might have an advantage.

  • @AlutaShade

Ask Jack: not sure if you make videos with community questions or not, but the concept you start to discuss beginning at 8:05 (in regards to the idea of having enemy AI strongholds on flags that, if captured, give you an advantage over that flag) sounds very interesting.
TLDR; Do you think the community would enjoy a feature where capturing flags in conquest spawns friendly AI that defend the objective, so that players can leave the area and attack other flags?
To expand on that, do you think it would enhance game modes like Conquest if, when you capture an enemy flag, it spawns friendly AI that stay at that objective to defend it?
The enemy would then have to eliminate that AI before they could begin neutralizing the flag. The game could then warn a team when an enemy is attacking their AI + flag, and give players time to head back to that objective to defend it further?
With the size of the maps ever increasing with each new release, this could change the way conquest is played and allow players to feel more comfortable leaving an objective after capturing it, and attacking other flags as opposed to capturing it and staying on that flag nearly the entire match to hold it down. This would give players the ability to experience other areas of the map and learn new tactics for attacking and defending different objectives.
Sorry this was so long-winded! 😅

(Ironically they are former DICE devs who worked on BC2 and Battlefield 3, along with Mirror's Edge) Have the destruction server-side, as you can tell it makes a HUGE difference and if DICE can implement that with the next "Frostbite Engine", it could be a game changer for the series.

Part of the reason they left was to get away from Frostbite from what I heard from a Swedish dev friend (at a rival studio) and EA's direction.
No idea how true that is but if he heard it then someone said it.

I want to play them years after the online community dies off or moves on. Being able to play the game 5, 8, 10 years later with a faster PC really is fun with Bots and real players joining. I hope that when they talk about destruction, its not just super flashy one-off moments like Levolution.
While those are cool, destruction needs to be a core design principle when building maps.
That's why destruction is so great in Bad Company, Siege, and The Finals. All three games allow players to use destruction in creative ways that actually affect the result of matches.

It'd be cool if they kept Levolution for bigger stuff like skyscrapers but I do agree that destruction should be baked into the core of every map. For example, do you remember Golmud from Bf4? The city on the top had buildings that could be reduced to complete rubble. That's what I personally think they should do for every small to medium sized building.

It has to. The Finals devs even said that having their destruction run on servers is a new technology. We've seen how that destruction sets The Finals apart from other arena shooters. If Battlefield can replicate that for a military shooter with 64 players, then it sets it apart from COD

But it's not new technology 😂 So many people believe the crap they came out with, they even tried to claim the level of destruction was never seen before in a video game but it's destruction tech has been used in quite a few games before going all the way back to around 2010, the devs just needed to gaslight people so it makes sales, pretty much what every company does these days 😂

Ever since BF4 they’ve taken a complete u-turn in how they make their games and even hiring new people to work on said games. I haven’t played BF since BF4 for that reason. One day I envision battlefield style game with full destruction where you lead a squad of AI players and they can understand your voice commands and have a basic level of autonomy. You will also be able to pull up in mini map and give quick movement and cover directions as well.
Combine this with a full scale battle map where you have thousands of players working together like foxhole but first person. You will also have the option to work together with other real players, either each running their own squads, or all of them in your squad. Throwing vehicle warfare and goddamn that would be a fun game.
We just need fiber optic internet. You become the standard and servers to become significantly more powerful.

    4. 12-128 player game modes ( DM, TDM, Control, Rush 64, Tactical Conquest 64 (no radar, less hp, increase bullet velocity, increase vehical dmg and longer respawn time), Conquest 64, Supreme Conquest 128 (More vehicles, objectives, tickets to gain, larger map size), Gun Game and w/e else.)
    5. 6-8 maps and 35-40 weapons + vehicles
    6. Next level destruction system and weather map effects
    7. Remain somewhat system friendly and optimized to where 120 FPS can be achieved on the consoles so that on PC it can be even more easily achieved.
    8. FULL VOIP SYSTEM let team chat and have squad chat and let squad leaders communicate w/ other squad leaders to make a more immersive social battlefield experience.
    9. Proper anti-cheat system
    10. Map vote post game lobbies and options to make squads before next map starts.

I disagree with the BR and SP suggestion. They should focus their ressources on a good MP experience. Quality over quantity. Battlefield was never about battle royale, and singleplayer should be kept for the next bad company entry. If you want BF to become like COD which is essentially an attachment grinder for Warzone nowadays, then sure by all means.

@@sirdabzmcgee tbh the only good BF campaign ever was bad company.
BF3 only had a campaign to further compete with CoD, it wasnt good by all means. 4 was just the same, including the same gameplay but they lied prior about wanting to turn the CoD style they had back and make the game generally feel more like battlefield (spoiler they didnt, hence why I didnt buy any BF game since, I dont really feel like investing into companies that straight up lie to their customers).
havent played BF1 but I heard that they atleast figured out that they should use BF typical elements in an otherwise pretty basic and meh campaign.
BFV campaign was supposedly just a bugfest and according to others felt like it was made by a small team with barely any experience that tried their best to do something.
So no, I highly doubt that they need a campaign, and if they do, you can pretty much be happy with a 2h campaign thats actually done proper.
For BR/Extraction: Ofcourse, because we dont have too many of that stuff around already, we definietly do need another one that 90% of people can ignore as they´ve grown sick of it, sounds like a briliant idea to waste dev time on.
