This dude is one of two dudes on RUclips that knows what he's talking about. I watch the slow mo's and consistently watch perfect trigger and FOLLOW THROUGH. That grouping at 100 yards is well developed skill.

my praise to cmmg for finally making upper receivers of a larger size that can accept larger bolts and Barrel extensions. looks like they just kind of slightly modified the mutant upper but made it so it'll fit on a standard AR-15 lower receiver. that Bolt really looks fantastic

I had the same problem, ( free-float rail walking forward), with my AR-10 build. So I took it to a gunsmith and he milled out two channels on the bbl nut for the bolts to lock into and since then..its been a super solid and robust fit.

I would love to see a .458 ballistics test. Run a bunch of ammo from From the 140 grain 3000 FPS all the way up to the 600 grain monsters. Lets see what that round can do, lets see how that very gun handles the various different loads.

.50 Beowulf vs the .458 anvil in a run-the-paces test. Also, I noticed in the slow-mo the barrel had some flex n bounce. could that be the reason for the guard issue?
Did CMMG ever get back to you on those handgaurd bolts loosening up?
I love my new warring buddy the mutant, I live in the city where weve had about 3 shootings on our block a week thank God its slowed way down in the event it picks up again it's all good !

I would love to see gel tests of, 458 Socom, 450 Bushmaster, 45 Raptor, and 50 Beowulf, head to head. All the really big bore bad ass AR15's. Also showing the cavitation in ballistic clay. That is my ultimate goal when I get my channel lined out correctly.
Did you get a good BZO on your optic before you went out shooting?
GY6 can you use the magpul 60 drum with that round? or the 100 big 5.56 drum as well I am guessing with a lot less ammo but it would still give you a lot of those bad boys in one mag "if" they would fit though..?

I wish you would upload more often. It would be one of my favorite channels, your videos are well done.
You realize I have uploaded 3 videos in the last two weeks right lol....and then consider the fact it takes about a week or more to film and over 100-150 hours of pure POST production time to finish a video....so 2-3 per month is as much as you're going to see on here lol
Glad you love the videos that much, but QUALITY over Quantity...its not like we are filming with a little hand Handi Cam or DSLR lol it takes time to do it right.

Would like to see a ballistic Gel test of 458 SOCOM 300 Grain Controlled Fracturing Hollow Point from Lehigh Defnse / Underwood Ammo and the Corbon load. Also, if you can find any 500+ grain sub-sonic rounds, that would be interesting too.

can you do a future video with that same rifle doing some basic combat drills. For no other reason than to see how controllable that round is/isn't at the range.

I'm just trying to figure how this is even an option over an AR-10 .308 ~ pros / cons ??? Can you just get the upper and if so, does it mount to any standard AR-15 lower?

One of my favorite videos so far... I'd love to see the terminal ballistics of more bullets but at longer ranges like 100-400yards

The barrel nut & hand guard interface is probably not enough for the recoil forces of that round. I have one on a 300 blk and I've never had it move but there is nothing to hold it on there except friction and clamping force.
Do a comparison of all the rounds you mentioned in the vid!!!

have you talked to cmmg about the handguard and if so is it just a defect?
not yet, but it just seems to be missing any form of Loctite on the screws threads. Once I put some on there and let it settle, I'm sure it will be fine. This rifle was straight out of the box from the factory, and that is how I like to do the reviews.

I'm a hunter and looking to retire my old sharps buffalo rifle (45-70 Gov.) so i would love to see .458 socom vs.50 Beowulf to see who would be the better hunter.
+Matt my grandfather bought a 45-70 Marlin at the beginning of the year and loves it. It's a great round that would be a cool video to.
I just wish they weren't SO expensive. I get it that it isn't a round that you fire every weekend, but at 2000 including taxes, too big for my wallet. Great video. It is one of my wish list guns in case I win the lottery in the near future.
.458 Accuracy out of my RRA .458 SOCOM rifle (both upper and lower from RRA) shot sub MOA with SBR ammo (300 gn TTSX) on my first grouping at 100 yds, My sighting in at 25 yds was a virtual one hole group. I'm using a 1.5 x 4x Leupold VX-R on 4X. Dangdest rifle I've ever owned. I have a mag of Underwood Extreme Penetrator for bear defense and the SBR 300 TTSX ammo for deer / elk.

Just run them like they are! Its very straight forward. Though Lancer makes 458socom mags that help with holding in the 458 socom rounds(They have an issue popping out of some regular AR mags)

About the bolts coming loose on the hand guard....simple fix, lock tight makes a high temp bottle so use that on those bolts, and crank em down. That will solve that problem for years
