well, you shoot grenades 800m away, unless you make them play "catch the grenade" I think they're safe at that distance.
One thing clear, it's not the best choice for home protection because you could accidently blow your own property up or someone else's

to those of you that dont know why they are not exploding its because they are using practice round. that is why the war head of the round is blue. the real thing is too dangerous. you need something like a grenade range to shot those.
Edgar Castillo We would have used H.E. rounds but the range wasn't certified. Stay tuned though.
GY6vids what about the person who is actually shooting? is it needed some kind of certificte to fire? or as long as the range has all the security stuff and the company gives you access to the ''gun'' you can shoot?
Thats why we are watching this to see how a grenade launcher works and how it explodes.

This is based on the South African MGL140 Grenade Launcher we use to use in the army in South Africa. We use to carry 2 of them when we went out on Patrol in Angola, awesome in the thick bush. The US used the patent for the M32 from Milkor.
People might complain about how those were smoke grenades, but they would have a different reaction if the smoke grenade hit them in the face.

These are Training Chalk Rounds/Flash Bangs/ and Tracers....Not a H.E. certified range so we couldn't use the real fun stuff.

So much simpler! In the Imperial system everything is random, with 7 doohickeys in a hullabaloo, 23 hullabaloos in a thingymajig, and so on and so forth. With meters, it's so much simpler. Everything is based in 10 or it's powers.

Do I detect aerial shots? :)
If you go from 5m kill radius to 10m kill radius you have the 10m kill radius having 4 times the area of the 5m kill radius. So it's 4 times as deadly...not twice. That said, area doesn't directly correlate to lethality but roughly it works I guess.
area5m = 5^2 * pi = 25pi
area10m = 10^2 * pi = 100pi
So area10m = 4*area5m

I used the original prototype (40mil MGL) in 1990 (SA Army) in infantry platoon attack training. The recoil wasnt much, but then it couldnt shoot 800m far - only about half of that.The recoil on the 800m rounds must be a lot...
I stopped watching after i realized they only shoot blanks and not real explosive rounds.

I play Arma 3 a lot and this is one of my favorite weapons besides a .308 or 50 BMG. 40mm and explosives are really cool and effective. Often if I know how far a target is I can shoot over houses.

Depends on the date of manufacture regarding the grenade. Any produced on or before 1986 is fair game with a $200 tax stamp.

Just saw you were referring to 40mm ... in which case I have no idea regarding the original date of manufacture for. Just pretend I'm not here.

A 5 meter kill radius would have have a 78.5m^2 area of effect using A=Pi x r^2, a 10 meter kill radius would have a 314m^2 area of effect. From that the medium velocity is not just twice as effective, it is 4 times more effective!
