  • This series covers the construction of my settlement at Starlight Drive In. Apart from Place Everywhere no settlement object mods were used, and only uses vanilla and DLC objects.
    In this part I build up around the small pond to adding some raised walkways and a water pump. I also build a large structure to house the settlements general goods and clothing vendors, with living space and balconies on top. I also create a small house which will be linked up to another structure in the next video.

    I loved the idea of using foundations aw stairs! Center of a settlement looks great over all! It's a bit smaller than i expected, but I guess it's because the build is unfinished

      Thanks! Yes, still got more to build up around this area. Hopefully should be like a little courtyard in the centre of the settlement when done. Tried to squeeze as much as I could into this as I knew the unfinished sections would look a bit odd, but felt the video had already got a bit too long 😅

    Heeeeyyy. You rotated every other wooden foundation 180% this time.
    That soothes my Ocd driven conscience 😁

    Loving these videos. One suggestion I'd like to see, if you would, is using the Concrete tab's barriers instead of the Scaffolding ones here and there. Especially on the ground floor/wearhouse tiles.

      Settlers are simple kind folk who are confused by simple things like stairs or that they do not have the ability to walk through solid walls (no matter how hard they try), so I am sure that staring at the own reflection in a pool of water could keep them entertained for hours 😜🤣

      Lol, I did say I would try to work in some custom stairs into each build after you mentioned them in the Zimonja build 😁 Sorry to hear your pond plans did not work out exactly as planned. Glad you liked the build, many thanks! 👍

    I spent the weekend watching your starlight build vids and trying to recreate them. It's incredibly fun and interesting to see all your tricks and techniques and especially learning how to use the finer features of Place Anywhere on xbox. I still can't get scaffolding supports to snap to wood roof sections using your side scaffolding technique but I always manage to get them in relatively the correct place with Place Anywhere. It looks like maybe you have a shortcut to turn on/off item collision in order to overlap parts like the warehouse cement base floor pieces? It's a bit more cumbersome on xbox (at least I haven't found a shortcut) but still doable.

    • @FiddleflapsVids
      @FiddleflapsVids  Год назад

      I upload the build vids in the hopes they might be useful to someone so that’s great to hear, thanks! It’s become a bit of a habit, but when I first enter build mode I always disable surface snapping which is what allows me to more easily overlap parts. From videos I have seen Place Anywhere has a Global Collision setting which I guess would be its equivalent mode, and might help placing those pesky scaffolding supports 😁.

    19:37 Strange to see a water pump snap, let alone in mid air. Is that from the mods? .... I just rewound. Looks like it happened when you toggled the snap function in Place Everywhere.

    Really loving the series! I play fallout 4 on pc and have looked at how to raise and lower items in build mode. I see that I am suppose to hold the E key then use my middle mouse button to raise or lower the item. But I seem to grab everything that is attached when holding the E. any help? Keep up the great work!

      Great to hear you are enjoying the building series - thanks! I use the Place Everywhere mod (linked below) to build and is what lets me raise and lower individual objects. Without it you unfortunately are stuck with the standard ‘group select’, which as you have found picks up the object and anything that’s attached.

    i have once again obtained fried chicken and returned home to find that you have uploaded. a blessed day this be. really loving how the build is coming out, how long does it normally take you to plan out a build?

    • @FiddleflapsVids
      @FiddleflapsVids  2 года назад +1

      Ah, the greasy delights of the chicken shop, try to avoid a food coma this time 😉😴 Depending on the settlement it normally takes me around 2-3 weeks to plan out and build a rough version of what it’s going to look like. I’ll then start over breaking the settlement into small chucks for the build vids, do a couple of practice runs and then record them. Depending on how smoothly that goes (sometimes my hard drive is littered with failed build attempts) each build vid normally takes a day or two to get done.
      Great to hear you have been enjoying how the builds progressing - thanks!
