Fallout 4 - Building at Sanctuary 02 (Bridge Gate Guard Post and House)

- This series covers the construction of my settlement at Sanctuary Hills. Apart from Place Everywhere no settlement object mods were used, and only uses vanilla and DLC objects.
In this video I build up some defences aaround the bridge leading into the settlement, along with a small guard house and watch tower.

I just recently bought a new computer and install FO4 on it. I used to play on PS4 and, as you know, modding is very limited on this platform. I just love building stuff and decorating... Your builds are very inspiring, thanks for sharing

Place everywhere and OC Decorator is all i need...well Workshop rearanged is a must have too
Place Everywhere is essential for me (don’t have the patience for pure vanilla building and messing about with glitches) and once I found it could also make objects static allowed me to drop OC Decorator from my mod list. Workshop Rearranged is great and is what I will most likely use if I move over to modded builds 😀

I know you usually like to do enclosed, secure settlements, but have you considered doing a slum outside the walls on the water? I always love to do little raised fishing shanties in the middle of the river. Also thanks for all your work! I love every time you upload, makes my day. Super relaxing and super neat. Seeing your mastery of the vanilla build system is great.

There are also 5 ‘Picket Fences’ magazines (well 6 if you have the 'next-gen update' 🤣) hidden around the game world that add some additional decorations such as Statues, Potted Plants and Patio Furniture:

Thanks! Lack of commentary was a concern when I first started posting build vids, but felt poor audio quality and my lack of confidence on a mic would make the videos worst 🤣

Are you on xbox? My Place Anywhere doesn’t seem to work nearly as seamlessly as yours… specifically wondering how you snapped the corner pieces into place around your turret stand. I doubt my game would have allowed snapping there
I am playing on PC and use Place Everywhere which I believe has more options than the console variants (unfortunately I am not that familiar with mods on console).
Have you thought of using werehouse gates,i used them a lot especialy for main entrance,its a lot easier with place everywhere
Must admit I have not, would be good to try and vary the settlement entrances a little. Something to bear in mind for a future build - thanks for the suggestion 👍
@@FiddleflapsVids how do you get them? i play on xbox gamepass with a 360 controller on my phone , and ofc you cant buy the dlcs or anything since Xbox doesnt have a way of purchasing from other companies/games etc outside the app
@@Silk5000 You would need to either purchase the Contraptions DLC or the Season Pass to get the Warehouse pieces as GamePass only offers the standard edition of the game. I believe you can still purchase DLC for GamePass games from the Microsoft Store and they also offer a 10% discount, although not sure if that works for when playing on a mobile device.
4 minutes and 30 seconds in and you’ve already built a better structure than I’ve ever made in FO4. To be fair I only have played on PS4 and building on that is a pain.
Once I finish the game I’m currently playing I’ll get FO4 on pc and try to do some real building. Might plagiarize some building techniques…

Man.. your builds are so cool@ i wish I cam do al of that. But I dont have a pc and I jave the console one. I try to do what everhone does, but I can stick the buildings mods into the ground or through the walls. Which conslole can do thar
Thanks! I build with the Place Everywhere mod which is PC only, the closest console alternatives are Place Anywhere for Xbox and QwaPA for PS. From what I have seen they don’t have all the features of the PC version but should at least give you some more building options 👍.

But your video DOES raise the question "why didn't Bethesda let us just build like this in the first place?"
Welcome to the channel and hope you enjoy checking out the vids! I had always wanted to love the settlement building system but found its limitations and restrictions too frustrating. Using the Place Everywhere mod was a real game changer and has allowed me to focus on and enjoy building, rather that fighting and trying to work around the vanillas games system to build what I want.
If you feel the same way would highly recommend giving it a try or (one of its console alternatives if not on PC) 👍.

You should make a courthouse, police station, and minutemen government building when you get to it. With a jailhouse.
Neat ideas but sadly I don’t think I would be able to really pull them off with just the vanilla and DLC’s pieces 😔 I will be using the ruined house foundations for some other larger builds like the covered market I showed in the 1st vid. These will include a guesthouse, clinic, power armour workshop and of course a bar 🍻
@@FiddleflapsVids I have always used the house where the workbench is as Sturges house and built him a power armor repair store out in front.[ or made it look like one at least] He seems like the type of guy that would enjoy doing that for a living. Anyway it's going to be a great build I enjoy watching your videos.
I also normally use that house for Sturges 😀 For this build I hope to give him a little more room to tinker in with a warehouse style building with a junk yard in the back.
Can the npcs access the guard posts and also how do you lower and raise it that high so slowly
Yes, they can access and use the guard posts. I build using the Place Everywhere mod which is what allows me to incrementally move objects as shown in the vid - www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/9424
took me a while to figure out how to use place everywhere do to my num pad not working for some reason but i figured it out and im defenetly building this
Place Everywhere is a fantastic tool, really hope the mod author is able to update it to the latest version of the game once F4SE is in a more stable state after Bethesda broke everything with their latest 'update'… I simply cant see myself building without it 😨.

Is place everywhere different than place anywhere. Is place everywhere that you have or is it place anywhere for Xbox.

I am using Place Everywhere on PC, due to using the script extender is has a few more things than Place Anywhere on Xbox. But from what I have seen they mostly share the same basic features.

Let me ask you something, when you install the Place Everywhere mod, what buttons do you press to make the blocks go up and down?

Well, mate.
I have installed the mod, and strangely things like object/surface snap work while the numbers of the numpad to go up and down and to change the scale of an obejct don't work.
Thoughts?

Apparently I needed to click "Bloc Num" to turn it on and I can click 1 to turn it off, the ability to up and down, I mean.
How do you nudge the structures up and down? I've been trying everything 😅

I am using Place *Everywhere* not Place Anywhere… as it’s a PC mod all its features are accessed via the keyboard 😉👍

I tried to lower the fences and it will not work on ps4.
I build using the Place Everywhere mod, which allows me to snap and place objects where you normally cannot, along with some additional movement options and other features. I believe the closest alternative that’s available for PS4 would be QwaPa:

I wish these BP's would come to console 😩.
It would be nice although I don’t own either of the consoles so even if the mod supported them, I am not sure I would make the blueprints available for them. Nothing against console owners, just don’t like the idea of releasing something that I was unable to check and test myself.

I don’t own any of the consoles so have not been able to try them myself but have heard that _Place Anywhere_ for Xbox replicates most of Place Everywheres features, and although slightly more limited and less user friendly there is _QwaPA_ for PlayStation:

@@FiddleflapsVids since the Update (ps5) place everywhere toll lets the game crash everytime I use it.
How do you slowly raise and lower items in building I’m on PS5 and can only go quick and can’t do it precise and doesn’t clip together like yours does
