    This settlement here is always the kind of thing I envision when starting to build, but never come close to realizing. Very nice work.

    SarDeliac I have not built a Settlement at Starlight yet, but last night 6-14-2023 I built my best Sanctuary Hills settlement yet. Currently I have 7 settlers includign Preston Garvey, Sturges, Momma Murphy, the Longs and two other settlers. Marcie Long and the two other settlers have automatically taken up farming along with Momma Murphy helping as she can. Jun Long seems to mostly sit around, but sometimes helps Sturges with work around the various uncollapsed houses, Preston seems content to pratrol the neighbor hood. Sanctuary Hills has beds currently for 11, can feed 18 and has water for 21. When I last check Happiness it was at 80%. It has a defense rating of 20 or 30 (I can't remember without going into game how many Machinegun Turrets I have installed.)
    I used your example of a compact settlement at the north end of the partially collapsed bridge. I built a platform of the pier foundations right to the west of the bridge and placed a prefab small shack on that. I furnished the shack to sleep and shelter two, but so far everyone is sleeping in the main custom built shack where I can sleep 9 people counting my version of the Sole Survivor. The main shack is a 3 x 5 module two story construction with rooftop defensive works.(which currently are work in progress.) Insied the main shack I have all the workstations except for the workshop. I don't think it can be moved from the yellow house across the street from the character's old house. I have the the cooking station on the second floor in an open air area. I have the chemical station on the ground floor in another open air area. (I was thinking of safety ventalation for both stations.) The small power generator is also located in the second floor open air area and powers only the Settler Beacon at the moment. I am still working on locationg the restroom and bath house.
    The settlement's micro farm grows melons, gourds, tatos and carrots so far. I am looking for corn and razorgrain. Oh and we now have a Brahman wondering the neighborhood. I tried to herd it back towards the primary settlement area, but to no avail. I am thinking of a Trader/ Caravan park in the grassy area on the south side of the mostly intact yellow house to the north of the main bridge and the Brahman pen in the grassy area on the north side of the mostly intact white or pale blue house on the east side of the road near the Sanctuary Hills sign. I may put the razorgrain field behind that house and construct another small shack on a platform foundation house for more farmers. and a corn field near there too.
    I don't have many of the other DLCs yet so I am building this all with the wood and metal shack structure sets and the other constructs that come with just the base game. Unlike in past versions of Sanctuary I am not going crazy with Junk Fencing, but I am constructing a semi-fortified hamlet, arming all settlers (I am using what a person I follow on a prepper channel calls, "Militant Farmer," philosophy with the people of Sanctuary Hills. Once my character gets the required levels of Local Leader I am going to build a small market area on the slab of the white or pale blue collapsed house north of the main bridge. There I am going to have a general trader, a weapons trader, an armor trader, a clinic/ chem trader and a bar/ cafe. I am playing in normal mode now, but am using this as practice for when I get the nerve up to do Survival Mode.

    The settlement looked crowded but yet was still very roomy and functional. I was equally suprised to hear how well the pathing played out. I really like the blend of materials. They looked like they belonged together. Something that I still need work on for myself. Thank you for the video and sharing.

    • @SarDeliac

    I'm having the same trouble with items falling through shelves! Nice Starlight, safe and functional! Mine is unrealistic and frivolously fun! I really respect all the vanilla builders, good work! What a coincidence EZE's sub count was 666 this week, and now yours is 6.66K, very weird indeed! I'm just a newb, so I'm glad to learn the ropes from experienced builders like yourself! Thanks for the tour!

    Wasn't expecting to see this. What a nice surprise. An old school SarDeliac tour vid. As much as I enjoy the streams I miss these tours.
    Not trying to pimp my stuff but I'm planning on uploading a vid tonight (probably late tonight since I still need to edit it and I'm super bad at that) It will contain a bit more info on merging shack bridges or other "foundation" type pieces together. I realized my Murk vid didn't go into much detail at all since it was a bit of an after thought. I'm not sure the new video will be much better but I did try to show a few more examples and explain a few of the quirks.

    Oh and an off topic question for you. How many supply lines do I need to Spectacle Island? I never built much there but yesterday my supply lines broke a lot. Ended up building 3 and still had times when all 3 were broken. Never experienced anything that bad at other settlements before.

    • @SarDeliac
      @SarDeliac  5 лет назад +2

      Spectacle's weird because of the size of the build area... settlers get lost a lot. The only thing I can suggest here is to make the provisioner go _from_ Spectacle _to_ Warwick; for whatever reason I've had more success if they have Spectacle as their origin rather than their destination. Other than that, I'm stumped.

    I bought FO4 at its midnight release. I raced home and installed it from the disk. I downloaded the DLC back then, too. But that console suffered 2 lightning strikes on 2 separate occasions, so I had to get a new one. FO4 is the most disappointing game I've ever played, but I recently installed it on my new console for some sick reason unbeknownst to me, and found that in every settlement I make, every single item I place on a surface ALWAYS falls through. Even on Spectacle Island, where I have zero settlers. I'm not reconnecting it to the internet because when I do that, I can never just play the game. It's always mandatory updates that take hours to download, and I just can't do it. So basically I'm playing a patchless FO4 the same as it was when I bought it on release day 2015, and no DLC this time. Is there anything I can do to remedy this maddening occurence without mods or patches/updates?
