there was no need to drill the fan. That pressed sheet holder just keeps the bearing in place. As soon as you undo the pinion nut you can push the shaft out of the bearing as teh pinion will stay behind. Its the nut that holds the pinion by means of friction

Many consumer products rely on snap fit plastic enclosures and sometimes it is impossible to remove them without destroying something. For example my Sony TV remote has only one screw that holds both the top and bottom of the enclosure together. They are many snaps that hold the remote together. I had to open the remote to fix a badly leaked battery. Despite my best care to dismantle the top part with a guitar pick I ended up breaking a few snaps.
He needed to use the puller because the bearing was rusted on the shaft. The fan will be unbalanced now though. Drill a hole in the other side of the fan to balance it

Great job! But never insert a bearing by hitting it directly with a hammer 16:32. Either press it in ensuring even pressure on all parts or cover the bearings surface and then tap it in with a hammer. They are very easy to damage. If you don't have a press, try a G clamp or something similar but always cover the bearing
the way handtool rescue does it is he puts a socket over the bearing thats just big enough to hit the inner ring but small enough to avoid hitting the rest of the bearing
I was going to say the same thing. All that care taken dismantling just to risk shattering the bearings at the end of the rebuild, Stop rushing. Find the correct tool for the job and take your time. It's like you got all excited in the final stages. Lol

That fan will explode, and be a balancing nightmare, a file is way too aggressive to clean those laminations, molybdenum disulfide grease should have been used, some of those wires and spades would have been easier if replaced and last longer/work better too. Youre better than that.

A little bit of penetrating lubrication certainly won't hurt. The iron converted into expanded abrasive iron oxide that friction locks the screws in place. If they were self tapping, they go into plastic, if they're machine screws, they go into brass inserts melted into the plastic.
yeah and all he had to do was put the bearing in the housing then slide the armature though the assembled housing the gear could have been put on last. you can see how it could have been done in the next shot. all though this was a waste of time thats a cheap brand. i bet he paid more for new bearings and bushes that the whole grinder is worth.
Buys a 3 year old Ryobi grinder at a garage sale. Soaks it in salt water for a couple of days to get some surface rust. Peel off Ryobi sticker... RESTORE! (AKA, remove surface rust)

This looks off to me. Those brushes look too new and the amount of rust on things is too consistent. It looks like a good tool that has been soaked in an oxidizer, like salt water, in order to artificially degrade it. The plastics don't look worn just dirty, and the sticker looks like new. Am I the only one noticing this? Am a crazy? If I'm seeing it right, it's possible parts are being swapped out with donor parts rather than actually restored. I watch a ton of these videos in general and this one just doesn't look right to me.
Whenever I watch one of your videos I plan to view the beginning and then cut to the end. However, once I start watching, I'm hooked. It is so much fun seeing what you do. Thank you for the great videos.

Exactly. Always keep in mind: Somebody once assembled it in the factory the way it is. So it has to come apart without destroying something.

I can tell u soaked it in a bucket of water for quite some time just to do this restoration...
I think a lot of thess videos do that, you can tell because the bolts n screws come off so easily.
Real rusted stuff is like its almost welded on.

Декстер копейки в леруа стоит..сделал ремонт, да выьросил нахрен..а какой то маниак с помойки притащил..
