Very nice video, very well paced and entertaining. Today was fun, even if you squeaked out the win 🤷♂️
Thanks man, and you killed it with the drone today! It was a beautiful day, and we didn’t break any thing at the track. Thank you again for hanging out 🤙
This was an epic episode man! Great video!
Thank you man! I am liking this style
Nice!! I see a race between pursuits coming.. lol.. love it.
Lol those are always fun. I can’t wait until the purest get all upset with the plans I have for them
Great video! Really cool to see these two cars go up against each other!👍
Thank you man🤙. The plan is to start out with budget friendly upgrades on both to see how each of them respond.
Our poor old mopar may be more clapped out than the caprice. It’s nice that the lifter woke back up and stopped rattling. The hemi tick is a real problem. This was a fun test. Looking forward to seeing what comes next in the modern day cop car challenge.
It will be fun to make the two of them grow together, and see where they take us. And man I’m really looking forward to bracket raising them.
D😮😮😊 8:01
Great video! I would go Caprice. Better chassis. Basically everything on the car is more refined than the Charger. Overall longevity is also there for the Caprice and cost to modify is there. Yes the Charger is more nostalgic, BUT in terms of everything else. Every time I sat in a Charger, the question always remained, what am i fixing next?
Yeah, I’m definitely partial towards the Caprice as well, the interiors, far more refined and comfortable. The LS platform is tried and true and boy. There are plenty of things that can be done to it.
Great video, brother. How about the weight on each car.
I haven’t weighed them myself, but according to the Internet, the Caprice comes in at around 4100-4200 lbs with 355hp, and the Dodge comes in at 4031 lbs with 340hp
@LunarOutlawsGarage wow, that is fairly even for the dodge to get smoked. Must be geared differently. It's good to see a video, brother.
I like the looks of that era Charger and thanks to Dodge making Chargers for police and civilian sales, you can easily find them for a good price and parts are plentiful. Junk yards are full of them for cheap parts. By contrast the Caprice seems to have been restricted to police, state and fed sales (though I do know a couple of folks that bought them new from the local dealer's fleet sales entity back in the day.) so the odds of finding one at your local u pick it/u pull it junk yard would be next to nil.
Also these 2006-2010 Chargers have aged well. They still look good even though the last year of that generation was 13 years ago. The design will still look good 10 years from now. By contrast the Caprice PPV design looks probably will not age gracefully. Though it will probably age better then the 2010-2019 Ford Taurus (or course I might be biased as i love the 2005-2007 Ford Five Hundred /Mercury Montego and the 2008-2009 Ford Taurus/Mercury Sable (and own a 2009 Taurus) but i did not like the 2010-2019 Taurus)
Of course years ago, i thought of getting a retired cop car (Crown Vic) as a daily driver/work commuter car. However i was loaned one for a week and I was not able to get anywhere in decent time as everybody on the road thought i was a cop and slowed down below the speed limit. I decided to just get a Grand Marquis instead.
What a awesome looking car I don’t think they look cooler than that like wow looks very mean and while it being a v8 retired cop car so it has good transmission, suspension, brakes I love these specially that year
If you want to not hate washing cars, swap to a short wand on your pressure washer. It gets rid of a ton of physical strain while spraying foam and rinsing. They’re super cheap online and make life so much easier
Didn’t even know that was a thing , and no one has ever told me that before. I’ll definitely have to look into that. Thank you very much.
On the re-watch for later today
Thank you fluffy hope you’re doing well
Personally, I'd take the Charger. Even though it's slower than the Caprice, there's many aftermarket options for the Dodge.
As long as you don’t need any body or interior parts the caprices just a regular Zeta Platform similar to a Camaro. Both cars have an abundant aftermarket support. this is gonna be fun. Lol if you need body panels or interior, trim, they’re like hens teeth though. 😂🤙
Lol unlike the charger, I got a center consul for next to nothing and they have six or seven cars wrecked in the salvage yard
Right and that dodge was a barn find lol while the caprice not lol
Fun video.. 👍I love to purchase old police cars and have fun with them. I'm a sedan and wagon guy and have wanted a Caprice since they Introduced them. I own 2 2014s currently, Love them. I also own 2 police Chargers and a few Taurus and Explorer interceptors. I've been wanting to do a similar video putting them all against each other for fun I just havent gotten that far yet. At the drag strip here in upstate NY I ran 3 of them while stock over the last year or 2. For me the
2014 Charger Pursuit ran 13.9
2013 Taurus interceptor ran 13.9
2014 Caprice PPV ran 13.8
They were close and fun. Hopefully make a video soon.
That is awesome. What drag strip do you run?
@@LunarOutlawsGarage Empire drag strip in Leicester, NY
that was cool.
Thanks man
I had a 2012 Charger Pursuit and I currently own a 2014 Caprice. I had the charger a month and I’ve had the caprice a year and plan to boost it and keep it forever. Easy choice. LS > Hemi
I agree with you man. I definitely heavily leaning towards the Caprice for every day driving or light track use something where I’m not gonna really abuse it. It’s an incredibly refine car, and handles hands-down way better than the Dodge. I am leaning towards a turbo charger set and using the Edelbrock cross ram air in take I have in stock, but HARROP makes a really awesome supercharger kit for the caprice that I’ve been eyeballing. I can contest to the quality of HARROP as I’m using one of their superchargers in my Supra.
Had a good laugh, keep it up! What did the snake oil look like when you drained it?
And remember, stage left and stage right.
The Caprice is too hard to find parts for. You looked like you had a great time at the track.
How are you doing Mexican spec?🤙 it was a beautiful day at the track, and I had a blast. as long as it’s not body or interior related, the drive train is pretty standard here in the states. The Zeta platform allows for upgrading the rear differential and plenty of tuners for the engine and transmission. Unfortunately body panels and interior parts become more difficult. Significantly more difficult.
@@LunarOutlawsGarage Yes and you normally need the body or interior pieces when you find an old police car. I hope you are doing well.
Yeah, I’m struggling to find a good center consul for the capris but fortunately it was the detective car so it’s really clean inside.
As much as I would like the Chevy, I definitely know the Dodge has more readily parts available. I have 2 Ford P71's one with a supercharged 32 v dohc out of a marauder, which I smoke most of the chargers I come across with the acception of the Hello Kitty I mean hell cat. The other I bought off of someone who lifted it 3 inchs and made it basically a gambler 3000 type p71 with the modified internals. The supercharged one dynos at 590 hp at wheels and the gambler 3000 at 400 hp at wheels.
Haha “hello kitty” I’d love to get one of the old crown VICS but up here they’re just rusted out beaters. Got a love living in the rust belt. Those P 71s were absolute tanks. I have Always impressed with how much abuse they can take.
@LunarOutlaw’s Garage the only weak points I saw was the plastic intake manifolds they came with and the transmission (in which I solved intake manifold problems with the alliminum ones from ederbroch Victor jr and the transmissions from Jasper performance, both so far so good.
Charger with a working motor
👍
it seem like the Charger got a lil heavy weight on the track or maybe lost a few horsepower from a few years sat.
We’re gonna see if we can’t get her to scoot a little faster and what all they both need to break into 12 seconds. They both probably have less power than new. They’re both fairly high mileage, but the Dodge has substantially more mileage than the caprice.
I'd take the Dodge all day long.
Take the mopar . There's a kit to turn it into a 426 ...
Don't think it was the fairest given the charger is pretty clapt out the charger has way better aftermarket support in America anyway so I'd go for the charger for that reason.
The charger is actually I’m pretty solid car, I’ve put approximately 115 miles on it since I put it back on the road, and I’m very impressed with how tight is for having 20 miles sort of 200,000. The caprice, besides the body panels interior is just another zeta platform so differential transmission and engine mods are the same as the Camaro. I have plans for both cars, but I’m leaning towards having the Dodge as a dedicated bracket racing car.
Well, if the Charger is painted black and white, you can screw with the minds of the highway crew better
Lol. I know people like to drive slower in front of it.
I would by the dodge.
both slow as hell lol
😂😂😂😂😂😂
