Interesting story of his I heard recently where he was talking about how there were bands that had everything, the music, production, but they didn’t have ‘it”. Whereas he said that they didn’t have all the technical stuff, the only thing they had was ‘it’.
2:40 kills me - "Edge, do an Edge thing... there he is!" Bono enjoying the moment, and the happy face of the girl at the front of the choir. So much love in that tiny office.
Have been a u2 fan for over 30yrs, 2021 sadly I was in a coma for 28 days. Waking was very confusing yet once I heard their music again it brought everything back and rediscovering their music was ❤
Sending you love from New Zealand, I've been a U2 fun for 35 years, born in Chile and living in NZ for 20 years, no matter where I am, U2 music for me is home
I’m a British fan now living in Israel. First time I saw them was on the OGWT in 1981 and then bands like Marillion used to play ‘War’ on the PA before they made their entrance at the Hammersmith Odeon around 1983….Fan ever since..They never faltered on that stony path
I’ve been following them for a long while. Achtung brings back memories during a troubled time in my life. Their music kept my mind on the straight line. Music often does.

@@brianmiller1077 I spend quite some reading comments on most videos I watch and I read some that showed that 10-12 year kids listened to U2 every day in the school bus when they released their free album, so I would not presume anything about these girls.
They‘re part of a wonderful process and they‘re doing something they obviously love and are probably working hard towards mastering. So why wouldn‘t they cherish the moment?
I love listening to new artists and discovering new edges of musical horizons, but then you see this performance by Bono and the Edge and you immediately understand the levels of performance between new artists and ones like U2 with decades of experience behind them. Amazing.
6:32 I mean, when Bono puts his hand on Edge's back while singing "My, how you've grown" and Edge smiles back at him, you get a sense of the deep friendship still there after years of rock'n'roll superstardom...that's just lovely to see
Somehow, through a brilliant convergence of work, talent, determination, and luck, Mr. Bob Boilen and his remarkable team have crafted THE concert series. All in a corner of an office, around a Tiny Desk at NPR. And I am grateful beyond words for it.
Their chemistry is unparalleled. I love how they gave each other props. Ever since I first listened to u2 I’ve been stuck in a moment and I can’t get out of it.
I really like the current Bono. As Bono has become older, his voice and interpretation of songs has become more nuanced and interesting. I don't know quite how to put it, but it's more vulnerable and personal.
Oh my... what have I just witnessed... That gave me shivers, tears, thank you everyone who made this happen. The best duo ever from the best band ever. Sublime, no more words.
"Stuck in a Moment" is a masterpiece of songwriting. I am not aware the song inspired by Michael Hutchence. Thank you NPR for making this jam session possible.
Bono & Edge are so finely tuned to each other.... I mean, you'd hope so after 40+ years.... but that's they're singing melody/ harmony on a very difficult rhythm. They're so bomb. And I love those kids every time I see them.
Bono didn't go out of his way to make things easy for the sound crew here, but the sound guy in me knows I'd gladly put up with it for this kind of authenticity in a performance. Well done, all around: Bono, Edge, choir & crew.
All through my teens, twenties and thirties I just couldn’t understand the love for U2. In my forties married, with kids and long lost friends dotted around the world that I miss. For some reason these events, circumstances coupled with U2’s music have just clicked. I can’t get enough of the lads now. Always thought Bono was an ego but now I see a very caring man who genuinely has love for his mates. Big up U2…..
Haha, I'm the complete opposite. I was a huge U2 fan throughout my teens, twenties, but sadly they were left behind by the progress of music. Their early catalog is still dear to my heart, but I haven't paid attention to them for the last 2 decades. I'm actually a bit saddened by this video, as it clearly shows their best days are in the past. They should call it a day and keep their legacy intact.
@@RuliManurung Wow, I'm like you too with loving the 1980's U2 and not caring at all about U2 in the 2000's. But this video is one I'll watch over and over. The tone, the music, the feeling, the intimacy is as real as music gets. Well done Bono and The Edge
That brought tears to my Irish eyes. Jaysus. I can't resist anymore - I love these guys. The choir from next door was outasight. They brought a tear all by themselves, too. The choir member in the front row, I think, 2nd from R had a smile on the whole time and I think she is full of faith, hope, and love. Keep on that path, all of the choir members. We need you. Btw, Bono's friend, Michael Hutchence, is missed here. Thanks for reminding of that loss. I'm not the first to say it, but The Edge and Bono made me think of John and Paul, sorta kinda, in the greatness aura department. What a pleasant surprise early Saturday morning, the day after Patrick's Day., 2023.
Well said. Yes, 2nd from the right had such joy on her face that it was contagious! Bono’s encouragement with the fantastic choir and connecting with them as fellow musicians was everything. 🥰 Stuck in A Moment…wow. INXS was one of my other favorites. Well, he was wearing John Lennon glasses. Still thankful for the music store employee that suggested Unforgettable Fire to my mom when she was looking for a gift for me.
I dont know, man... when Bono comes up with lines like "laughter is the evidence of freedom" or the look they both have when he directs the "my, how youve grown" at Edge... it just transports you, man
😁What a treat! Thank you to Bono and Edge for making my day along with the choir. Also a Big thank you to Tiny desk for all the great concerts in the series. I’ve had a good time watching them all!🙂👏👍🤘💪🙌☮️💙⭐️🌅🕊🦋🕊✌️
I love when Bono called Stuck In a Moment more of an argument...and one that never really got resolved. Then he says "Me and Michael will work it out later on..." Loved that.
These tiny desk concerts are something special, man, can't describe what it does... The vibe, so soothing, it takes me away to a time and a placeI've never been before.
The whole concept is that it's like you're attending a tiny, private concert. When you go to a regular concert you're typically in a noisy venue with hundreds (or in this case, thousands) of screaming fans, and massive amps that distort everything and make it impossible to really appreciate the music. Here you have a small gathering with minimal amplification, everyone being quiet and enjoying the vibe. So there's a level of direct connection with the audience that isn't normally possible. And I feel like the artists really appreciate that, too. Having all those screaming fans is great, but sometimes you just want people to shut up and listen when you're performing.
OMGOODNESS!! Can't even believe what I just saw and heard. I loved U2 for a long time but I lost touch with them. This was fabulous! So touching and exciting at the same time. Thank you NPR for making my day beautiful.
I have never been more grateful to the youtube algorithm than now and for life because just today on my birthday I get this incredible video of a Tiny Desk with U2 my favorite band of all my life, God I'm in tears! my first musical love and even after so many years it still is, each of their songs have accompanied me throughout my life, making them the main soundtrack of my life, with every good or bad moment I've gone through their songs were there to give me that boost of encouragement to move forward, making the song “Stuck in a Moment You Can't Get Out Of” the one that has marked me the most and which defines everything. I know they may never know how much their music helped me in the darkest moments of my life and through all the valley of tears I went through, but I would like to say THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!! And a big hug from an exotic but full of life country, with an incredible people that in spite of the difficulty continue smiling and being kind, called PARAGUAY🇵🇾❤💋
"Walk On" always got me right here (taps heart), especially now that my family and I are experiencing homelessness. We took "all that (we) couldn't leave behind" from our house, leaving much. U2 is one of my favorite bands of all time, Bono one of my favorite lead persons (we're about the same age); and Edge is an underrated singer! Loved this, loved the kids.
Haven’t felt that passion from u2 from a long time. Nice to know they haven’t lost the direct and pure energy that made their early albums so unique and essential
Some really superb remakes on the new album. I was skeptical but there are about half that are magic, and the rest are strong with a few hits and misses. Songs that I never connected to much originally, have a new emotional punch
Those tiny desk series are pure awesomeness…. Love that format.. I caught myself watching and enjoying even artists normally I don’t like much. Love the acoustic version of those U2 songs… Walk On was magical … thanks guy for sharing that
I'll never forget seeing them on the lakefront Soldier Field Chicago on a beautiful summer night and feeling out of body. Spiritual experience to say the least.
Probably one of the most intimate "concerts," I've ever witnessed. You can feel their years of creativity, friendship, comradery and world travelled, sold out concert love amazing experience , pouring through the vocals and guitar and melodies. I must have gotten the chills at least 8 or 9 times. Thank you U2 for so many years of giving it all to your fans. This NPR was exceptional.
“All those days trying to avoid a desk job.” Love it! It’s nice hearing Edge without all the delays and effects (although I love his usual sound!). Bono is a wonderful storyteller. Those young people have beautiful voices! Love it all the way around.
Oh man. Followed the boys for most of my 30+ years on this pale blue dot of ours, and loved catching Tiny Desk shows from across the pond, and now the two combine. What a bloody treat for a Friday. Cheers to all.
I saw them on May 27, 1983. I remember the date because I was an OBSESSED 14 year old fan. Me and my sister and her friend waited in the lobby at the Benson hotel in Portland after the show to try to get autographs. ( The nicest hotel in town, we just assumed they would stay there) They never showed, so we we drove home, disappointed, but spirits lifted from an incredible show. We happened to pass by the street leading down to the back of the Paramount Theater. We saw buses and a few people. We quickly turned down the street, parked jumped out of the car, and got to meet Bono and Edge just as they were leaving. (Adam and Larry were already on the bus) They signed the back of my shirt and gave us a hug, and boarded the bus. My 14 year old self would have never been able to imagine my 54 yr old self watching this with a tear in my eye all these years later.
That is such a sweet story. I was obsessed with them since their album “War” came out. I’m 59 and I don’t know how many times I saw them in concert but I was lucky I did get to see them when they were younger. They are an exceptional band in so many ways!

@@WaIkr You are so correct! I would just say "can't sing" and leave it at that.
@of Man and Moth you have to think before writing such no sense comments... Bono can't sing 😂😂😅
It is more impressive to me how good he was at an early age. Because with 5 decades of experience obviously he is going to be a Pro.
Whats up with wearing the ridiculous face-diapers after all these years? Trendy signaling leftist much? 😅 Jesus, how embarrassing.

Pure heaven!
That little moment is so sneaky and yet so majestic it fully explains the magic between them
Have been a u2 fan for over 30yrs, 2021 sadly I was in a coma for 28 days. Waking was very confusing yet once I heard their music again it brought everything back and rediscovering their music was ❤
Hope you are doing well today my friend and I can understand what you say about their music...Love from Ireland 🙏🏻💚✌🏻
Sending you love from New Zealand, I've been a U2 fun for 35 years, born in Chile and living in NZ for 20 years, no matter where I am, U2 music for me is home
❤
I’m a British fan now living in Israel. First time I saw them was on the OGWT in 1981 and then bands like Marillion used to play ‘War’ on the PA before they made their entrance at the Hammersmith Odeon around 1983….Fan ever since..They never faltered on that stony path
Loving U2! sending hugs and kisses from the Philippines
I’ve been following them for a long while. Achtung brings back memories during a troubled time in my life. Their music kept my mind on the straight line. Music often does.

The chorus girls can't hide how excited they are. Their face show us theirs emotional time.😂😂😂
I'd be surprised if half of them even knew who Bono and Edge were.

Do you know any videos where they show how to play that edge solo?
Certainly one of the best parts of my life this band with me from age 17 to 61. Thank you U2❤❤❤❤❤❤
Ever since I first listened to u2 I’ve been stuck in a moment and I can’t get out of it.
strange... ever since i listened to u2 i still haven't found what i'm looking for.
I see what you did there
It's easy to forget they're incredible musicians and song writers at the core of it. This is a reminder.
Absolute gem of a Tiny Desk Concert! 😀
This was refreshing to see an unplugged performance from them. Just poetry, acoustic guitar and stories to tell. Can't beat it!
You’ll enjoy their new album. Mostly or all acoustic interpretations of 40 of their songs.
Setlist:
0:00 - Beautiful Day
5:01 - In A Little While
10:08 - Stuck In A Moment You Can't Get Out Of
16:09 - Walk On

Bono and The Edge in a minimal musical setting is so profound. wow.... amazing concert. *salute!*
I really like the current Bono. As Bono has become older, his voice and interpretation of songs has become more nuanced and interesting. I don't know quite how to put it, but it's more vulnerable and personal.
He (like all singers eventually) can't belt out the notes like he used to, but he definitely makes up for it with subtlty and phrasing.
Oh my... what have I just witnessed... That gave me shivers, tears, thank you everyone who made this happen. The best duo ever from the best band ever. Sublime, no more words.
Agreed. Truly a pleasant surprise. Highly recommend you watch the Sting & Shaggy Tiny Desk concert. It's just as magical. Enjoy
It made my day as well fantastic❤
"Stuck in a Moment" is a masterpiece of songwriting. I am not aware the song inspired by Michael Hutchence. Thank you NPR for making this jam session possible.

My favorite Irish men! Thank you Bono, Edge, Adam and Larry for lighting up my life! I can't imagine my world without U2 in it! 💚🧡
and Kurt Cobain 😏🍀
And Jeff Buckley 😊
Bono & Edge are so finely tuned to each other.... I mean, you'd hope so after 40+ years.... but that's they're singing melody/ harmony on a very difficult rhythm. They're so bomb. And I love those kids every time I see them.
This performance is enough to make you fall in love with the band all over again. Amazing.
Exactly what just happened to me.
Never stopped.
Bono didn't go out of his way to make things easy for the sound crew here, but the sound guy in me knows I'd gladly put up with it for this kind of authenticity in a performance. Well done, all around: Bono, Edge, choir & crew.
The voices of youth, vitality and hope. Thank you Duke Ellington choir.......Bono and Edge were a'right too 😊
I must commend the audio engineer for his exceptional
work.
I am impressed by U2's excellent performance even in such a tiny setting.

Every time I see these guys perform, they nail it. Legends.
Wow! I've only been listening for 15 seconds, but can immediately tell that this is so sincere and creative. Boom!~! .... it's a beautiful day
All through my teens, twenties and thirties I just couldn’t understand the love for U2.
@@coreyhathaway2202 yeah this makes me want to go and see them. I grew up with U2 as my parents listened to them alot.
What an awful story. Life has taken a road in which U2 have become satisfying. There is hope yet brother. Don't give up

Youre not the only one that cry . So beautiful. !!!
Agree - nice also they give the names of the kids in the choir in the description.
That was just beautiful, wasn’t it.
Do you think the people who were there all understood the reference? MH isn’t talked about too much these days
Few bands can entertain a massive stadium and a small room to such effect. Brilliant, brilliant and brilliant
That was absolutely beautiful, these guys have aged like the finest wine. Big shout out to the choir also, well done guys and girls.
I would rather hear the choir sing than bono without delay and chorus.
Bono and Edge seem so kind and charismatic. Super talented and created such a touching performance with the choir, killing it. A perfect performance.
Go see a live show next tour. It’s there. It’s been there. Every tour except maybe the Joshua tree anniversary in 2017/18

Love it. Great story
That is such a sweet story. I was obsessed with them since their album “War” came out. I’m 59 and I don’t know how many times I saw them in concert but I was lucky I did get to see them when they were younger. They are an exceptional band in so many ways!
