- Sarah Chang is recognised as one of the world’s great violinists. Since her debut with the New York Philharmonic at the age of 8 she has performed with the greatest orchestras, conductors and accompanists internationally in a career spanning more than two decades. Ms. Chang tours extensively throughout the year. Her 2007 recording of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons attracted international commendation, with BBC Music Magazine stating: “She has never made a finer recording.” She has also recorded Prokofiev Violin Concerto No.1 and Shostakovich Violin Concerto No.1 live with the Berliner Philharmoniker under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle, Fire and Ice, an album of popular shorter works for violin and orchestra with Placido Domingo conducting the Berliner Philharmoniker, the Dvorak concerto with the London Symphony Orchestra and Sir Colin Davis, as well as several chamber music and sonata discs with artists including pianists Leif Ove Andsnes and Lars Vogt.In 2006, Ms. Chang was honored as one of 20 Top Women in Newsweek Magazine’s “Women and Leadership, 20 Powerful Women Take Charge” issue. In March 2008, Ms. Chang was honored as a Young Global Leader for 2008 by the World Economic Forum (WEF) for her professional achievements, commitment to society and potential in shaping the future of the world. In 2005, Yale University dedicated a chair in Sprague Hall in Sarah Chang’s name and in 2012 Harvard University gave her the ‘Distinguished Leadership in the Arts Award’. For the June 2004 Olympic games, she was given the honor of running with the Olympic Torch in New York, and that same month, became the youngest person ever to receive the Hollywood Bowl’s Hall of Fame award. Also in 2004, Ms. Chang was awarded the Internazionale Accademia Musicale Chigiana Prize in Sienna, Italy. She is a past recipient of the Avery Fisher Prize, Gramophone’s “Young Artist of the Year” award, Germany’s “Echo” Schallplattenpreis, “Newcomer of the Year” honors at the International Classical Music Awards in London, and Korea’s “Nan Pa” award. Ms. Chang has been named the US Embassy’s Artistic Ambassador from 2011.
Sarah gave her entire life to music. At the time of filming, she’d been playing for 27 years since her debut. This living legend only deserves respect and love. I wish I had a chance to see her perform in person.
She auditioned for the Juilliard Uni when she was five years old and she got in.
Juilliard Uni . At the age of five.
That’s amazing 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
When I was a five year old child I sucked my thumb and wet the bed. I am a much older man, not sucking my thumb nor wetting the bed anymore yet I will never be able to play the violin like Sarah Chang.
The most amazing thing in her performance lies in the tone especially
the tone of the lower pitches, which no other violinists can produce!!
Whenever I hear her violin, I automatically fall in love with the tone. There
seems to be nothing but just being deeply and eternally drawn to her violin tone...
Still one of my favourite Sarah Chang concert. Absolutely beautiful and stunning.
Absolutely beautiful and meaningful.
Menuhin was correct when he said that "She is the most wonderful, perfect ideal violinist that I have ever heard."
It is my great pleasure to hear her performance tg hank you Sarah Chang,,
Immer mehr Belle Sarah Chang .🥰
As I've said before...when considering violinists from a 360 degree evaluation perspective, Sarah Chang is the greatest exponent of the violin today. And I very much appreciate what she is trying to do for kids. I'm trying to do the same thing here in China.
Music is quite mysterious. Some musics are written for some performers only. I think Vitali Chaconne is written for Ms. Sarah. I haven't heard any better performance yet.
Sarah has it all : the technique, the talent, the intelligence, the sensibility, and ... what have you ? She's just adorable !
hridayaone she is great

Have it all but not as much as her. But I am very content with myself

thanksssssssss
How nice of you
Thank u
This is useful
She is an enthralling player just natural. How she managed to enter Juilliard at 5+ started playing at 4 (?)so in one amazing year on a tiny violin remembered having learnt concertos like the Bruch in a very short time is a mystery---God given gift. How proud her parents and brother must be. I have her debut disc when she was 9 using a 1/4 violin I think and recommend it if you have not heard it. May she continue to advocate her music for world harmony and peace for many years ahead.
Derek Clements-Croome you are totally right
Every human, still alive, is truly blessed to have had the great, otherworldly, inimitable Sarah Chang being here, and alive, with you.. XO to the best musician in the free world..
Her teacher gave her a million dollar violin. Now that is believing in your student! It certainly was not misplaced belief. Just angelic to listen too.
I love the way she smiles while playing. :)
Sarah Chang plays Chacoonne with such energy and beauty you don't often hear from great violinists.
This rock and roll drummer saw Miss Chang perform in Dallas 2005 at the Meyerson Symphony Center. A world-class artist in a world-class venue. She may not have rocked but she brought the house down. Bravo!
I was supposed to go to a party / evening with relatives on Boxing day. Cold afternoon/evening and came across this wonderful video of an invited audience with Sarah Chang. Well I so enjoyed it that I stayed in instead and watched all the video. Will be kept as a ''Favourite''
Her violin is exactly 300 years old this year. Great play!
300 year violin .. o m car
Now it is 303 yr old
Amazing Program. I loved.
Everything about her is beautiful.
Sarah Chang is part of the elite musicians who perform in concerts and play an instrument that gives pleasure to millions of people in this world.
I am so proud of her!! Loved her music so much~~~^^
La miglior violinista al mondo ..soprannaturale talento...🎻🤗
Definitely one of my favorite violinists. I'm currently in love with her playing of Saint-Saen's violin sonata. So passionate and technically perfect.
Lots of rosin in this video, by the way ;)
Thank you for this wonderful experience!! I am rejuvenated.
Interesting to see S.C. play the Vitalli up close. I have this recording and rendering seems almost exactly the same. Lovely to watch. A very passionate piece with a bitter sweet quality that S.C. brings to life in a special way. I am still waiting to hear the Bach Chaconne. Well maybe one day. Also I enjoyed hearing S.C. talk about playing scales, the daily work of violin... I'll bet she does Carl Flesch...
Yes really want to hear her play chaconne
One of my favorite concert violinist. I love this piece.
Amo ver e ouvir ela tocar.
Thank you!
incredibly beautiful...
Great performance. Was privileged to interview her.
Es impagable tan exquisita melodía gracias
I hope she passes her genes on to the next generation!
Wow fantastic!!!!
Here I am in absolute bliss near the climax of the piece... IF YOU WRITE ANYTHING ON UR COMPUTER U NEED 2 TRY FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
Good God! Look at those awards Sarah got there...
Thank u ~*
❤
Sarah Chang 🇺🇸
You're the woman I can give out my life. You're the spirit of the violin.
❤❤❤❤❤
♡♡♡
You play that fiddle good Sarah. Play it real good!
Is she holding the bow a bit higher up than before? Maybe that’s why she’s seemingly giving more bite with down bowing when this bow hold balance more weight towards the frog...
amazing. and who is that piano player? he has beautiful hands
Do you know who wrote the arrangement of Por una cabeza and if the arrangement is available in print? (This arrangement is far more exciting than John Williams'.)
Hi cameraman, the light of interview is not so good !?
bow for a bride and violin..that.s how beautiful~

Oh dear, what happened to the part of the violin where the palm covers when playing high positions? Seems very badly scratched as compared to when she was using it in her twenties. So much leftover rosin dust too. Her Del Gesu exterior seems to be in a bad state compared to all the Guarneri and Stradivarius that other professionals use.
Caleb It's because of your small hands.

bwv1068 is the best
:*
god what awkward opening
hi ! ! , .. , .
If this is the original video production then it is fair to say the constant circular twirling camera and the grossly excessive zoomed in shots are a distraction and rather tasteless. It's fine to focus in on technique occasionally and do some close ups, but this is ridiculous. There is barely a static shot of her just playing. It is over-produced to no purpose. I wish video directors of music videos would direct in a way that fits what is happening.
Muzike Alice's anbook ,that mom reade yuo Archy...but no Alice's an reading adult peoples because how her understand fill full all hearen and can comparison,,right understand, because musicant..and what um want far say..know...
the scratchiest violinist ever... geez...
Seriously? It's a Del Gesu!! Who would say that about a del Gesu!!!!!!
@@fritzkreisler2330 he said violinist, not violin, it's for sure a very very very scratchy performance, seems like she really struggles with it.
very superficial ...
her playing is tonally perfect but it sounds too robotic. robots can play perfectly too, but they have no soul. her playing is not inspiring at all. rather, it's dull and boring.
