    As an Astros fan, I love this for both teams. It's great for the rivalry, or the lack thereof. Just because it's been years since the Rangers last had a competitive team. It's great for Texas, it's great for the sport, and it gives the casual fan something to tune into.

    While the circumstance is 100% suspect and im going to talk out of my own ass, I can actually see the Framber pitch as being an accident just as much as i can see it being intentional. You guys watched the game right? Framber was all over the place with his pitches and Maldonado had a hard time keeping up as pitches ended up nowhere close to where they were intended. Its hard to believe considering Framber for the first half was considered a strong contender for the Cy Young, but ever since the allstar break he has been pitching extrenely poor, well just about all of our pitchers actually. If Yordan wasnt plucked earlier in the game it would have been a non issue.

    • @joshnorman2918
      @joshnorman2918 11 месяцев назад +11

      Correct. When he struggles, it’s almost always with his release. You could tell based on his reaction he had no intention of putting that pitch anywhere near that spot. But commentators have to have something to talk about.

    • @garrettscroggs
      @garrettscroggs 11 месяцев назад +5

      Also, if Framber wanted to send that message, I feel like he would've hit the first batter the very next half inning. Not two innings later.

    • @kermitfrog593
      @kermitfrog593 11 месяцев назад

      If a pitcher is struggling with control, he should tip his cap after hitting a batter. It signals you're aware of your control issues and aren't trying to hurt anyone..

    • @callme.geee_
      @callme.geee_ 11 месяцев назад

      The sad part is, it would’ve been viewed as an Accident, had Yordy not been hit but since he was, the rangers took exception to it. I also think Framber played it off and (bear with me I’m reaching here) he may not have realized or just straight up forgot that Yordy was hit hence him trying to play it off. And yes Framber has struggled with his release in the past but I’m in the minority, I think he’s on the uprise since the all star break but that could just be me. He’s still 6th in pitcher power rankings, a strong Cy Young contender and his ERA is still sub 3and pushing sub 2. It’s one bad outting but as other Astros fans have joked, he probably won’t give up a run in his next outting 😂

Just seems very convenient that he throws at Lowe's head on his last pitch against a lefty knowing a righty was coming to the plate and they had a righty in the pen warmed up.
      I don't think Valdez wanted to hit Semien, I think he was told to do it and didn't want to catch the heat he knew would come with it, like you said he's not a confrontational guy. Insane they tossed Semien and Maldonado just for chirping in any case.

    I’ve got a fairly long rant/ unpopular take here…
    These unwritten rules are ridiculous - & players today are such weirdo crybabies.
    Imagine: 1960, Mickey Mantle gets hit by a pitch from Sandy Koufax… the next time up, Mantle crushes a home run… & Mantle flips his bat, & stares down Koufax as he rounds the bases. Puts his finger to his lips to shush him/fans. The next inning, Whitey Ford throws AT Duke Snider …
    Lol. 1 of these things would have actually maybe happened… Mantles home run.
    Yes… I know players fought all through history… but this weird super super subtle disrespectful gestures I feel wasn’t a thing. Just trying to picture Mantle/Mays/Aaron/Gehrig/Williams… any big name staring down the picture as he rounds bases or shushing the crowd… lol. It probably did happen but I can’t imagine it was common.
    It’s gotten stupid. If they wanna go at it… just rush the freaking mound. This staring each other down & crying because a guy looked at him lol… ridiculous!
    Again… I’m sure various forms of these things happened more than I would think… but I can’t imagine this insanely subtle stuff was going on like it is now…
    These egos are massive. Maybe if they were paid more like it was a game, & not something actually important - like it was meant to be… and WAS… some of these ridiculous egos wouldn’t be getting hurt. When you gotta catch the bus to get to work after the game.. a guy looking at you won’t mean quite as much 😂
    You can disagree with me on everything that’s fine.. but if you think players should make anywhere CLOSE to a million bucks? You’re insane. It’s still a game. These 400 million dollar contracts are going to lead to 1 of 2 things… ruin of the game… or best case, a salary cap.

      if it helps put 13 on the board, then maybe this is what the Rangers needed to play together as a team when it really matters or when a pitcher and catcher start trying to hurt your fellow teammates. Heaney hit one guy and god forbid i'm sure it was a mistake, but that piece of shit Valdez intentionally hit Semien and was REALLY trying to hit Lowe. That's astros being petty and sore losers and it sometimes calls for a team to retaliate.

    I didn't think Framber's was intentional seeing as it was two innings later. If I wanted to send that message I would've hit the first batter of the very next inning. So naturally, I thought Semien overracted, especially when it became clear that Framber was having issues. I don't think either HBP was intentional. Neither would've made sense as intentional in the given situation. I also don't think Maldonado should've really gotten involved as it definitely was coming off as sour grapes at that point. Of course, all of this is coming from someone who was a fan of both Texas teams (and still kind of is) before they were division rivals.
    I definitely agree that I would love a playoff matchup between the two!

      @@cameronbabek6373??? If he's a sinker ball pitcher already struggling to get good location in the game how is it "100% intentional" if he misses with a 4-seam that he doesn't throw often? In fact shouldn't a HBP be more likely with an uncommon pitch when the common pitch is struggling to hit its mark?

      The Astros are 2 games back with mostly Sugar Land Space Cowboy callups for pitching all year. McCullers, Garcia, Urquidy, Valdez, Brown & France are all young and cheap. Alvarez & Javier are young and locked up for 5+ years. Tucker is under control through 2026, is young and most likely will be extended. Bregman and Altuve will be extended. Stros have lost Correa, Springer, Verlander, Cole & Morton and are going for their 7th straight ALCS appearance, 5th WS appearance in 7 years, and 3rd WS championship. If that's downslide, give me more downslide please...

    I'm telling you right now it wasn't intentional from Valdez. If you had actually paid attention to his starts since coming back from his injury, he has shown a consistent struggle with command and it appeared multiple times during that game. Semien can act like it was intentional if it gets him more motivated. But the truth is Framber Valdez is struggling and should probably take a rest on the IL and come back through another rehab assignment. I think he pushed himself to come back to early from his last injury. Since the injury he's had five stars. Only one of those stars has been a quality start, coming from a guy who said the record last year for the most quality starts consecutively. It is a clear sign that something is wrong with him when he has zero command and can't get through five innings.

      I hope so, but one good start in his last 7 does not prove anything and I am still concerned he will be injured before the end of the season, and I hope I am more than wrong in that statement, because if we do make the playoffs he will be integral in us succeeding in becoming back to back champs. Even though Verlander is back Valdez is still the pitcher that will have to put the playoffs on his back; we know what Verlander's playoff history has been he may help get us there but he struggles once he is there. And Lord knows I hope that comment ages poorly as well. But with McCullers injured before the season, Luis Garcia injured at the start as well as Urquidy, and Valdez having a brief injury as well you have to wonder how good the training staff for our pitchers is and be concerned about the starting pitchers being available for the end of the season. Also do you think he threw at Semien on purpose or are you talking as someone who did not watch the game?
