    Excellent review. I just bought the open comm headset today. I’m a commercial truck driver and this is my first experience with bone conducting headphone technology and so far it is absolutely amazing. The music sound a little tiny but it’s still not bad. Just lacking base. I got mine for $179 at the loves travel center. So if you’re a truck driver looking for a good bone conducting headset and you have $179 apart with I think you can’t go wrong.

    I currently have a Poly 5200 and want to determine if I should change to the Opencomm. Do you have something comparing sound in different environments, such as driving or outside, and either mower or construction/hammering happening?

  • @WustyWench
    @WustyWench Год назад +1

    I have one of each and they have different applications for me, and the differences are why I chose them. For work, I have the OpenComm as it connects to both my personal cell phone and work cell phone simultaneously, and I can wear it all day and not have to do anything but push the button when I get a call on either unless I'm listening to music on one when the other phone gets a call, which is the only drawback in that regard. If my iPhones would let me turn the volume up even higher, I could describe how good they are at higher volumes (they do start to flattten the base out a little, though, which isn't something any bone conduction can do.) For home use, I have the OpenMove and only use it with my IPad and a specific computer, and I don't need to connect to them simultaneously, nor is there a high noise environment at home. The sound quality is great on both, even making up for some mild hearing loss in one hear. I haven't spent enough time with the microphone on the OpenMove to provide an evaluation, but the OpenComm is excellent and unobtrusive to both me and those around me. I have a big head, and the OpenComm is more comfortable for all day wear and pinches slightly less; I'm not sure why. I love the situational awareness that both bring, but in a hot environment the constant skin contact makes these pretty slippery. All in all, I'm tickled pink with both of these, and interestingly, am seeing these more and more being used by my coworkers who also appreciate them for the same reasons.

      It works if followed in a particular order. Here is a great step-by-step guide to pair multiple devices:
      1) Start with your headphones turned off.
      2) Enter pairing mode by pressing and holding the power/volume+ button for 5-7 seconds. Audrey will say “Welcome to Titanium!” and then “pairing” and then the LED light will flash red and blue.
      3) Press and hold the multifunction button and power/volume+ button at the same time for 2-3 seconds. Audrey will say “Multipoint Enabled.”
      4) In your first device’s Bluetooth settings, select the Titanium. Audrey will say “Connected.”
      5) Turn your headphones off.
      6) Re-enter pairing mode by pressing and holding the power/volume+ button for 5-7 seconds. Audrey will say “Welcome to Titanium!” and then “pairing” and then the LED light will flash red and blue.
      7) In your second device’s Bluetooth settings, select the Titanium. Audrey will say “Connected” or “Device 2 Connected.”
      8) Turn your headphones off.
      That completes the multipoint pairing process! Your headphones should now be connected to two of your devices simultaneously the next time you turn them on.

    I got the OpenMove about 7 days ago. I had considered the OpenComm, but decided the extra cost for a delivery driver was not warranted. I deliver food and am constantly calling customers while driving. I can hear GPS and customers super well. The calls come thru very clearly and loudly even while driving and customers have never had issues hearing me clearly, except during one super heavy thunderstorm with 40mph wind, but I am 99% sure that was due to the cell tower phone connection, not the headphones. The OpenMove are very comfortable on my head for 6 hours straight use. The only thing that I would love to see is if Apple made a device like this for legal use while driving (H1 chip). I considered the Airpod Pro for this use, but even though they have transparency mode, the Airpod pro cannot be used in both ears and are illegal to use while driving in many states in the USA. I prefer both ears to hear better.

    • @detach8
      @detach8  Год назад

      Not that I notice in normal use (conference calls, etc.)
      It works like every other bluetooth device. However if you are a musician and rely on this for tempo/timing, it will definitely have the typical bluetooth lag/delay so a wired earphone is still better for that purpose.
