I just bought the OpenComm, and was my first experience with bone conduction headphones. These are absolutely phenomenal in construction, function, and comfort and feel like magic how clear the audio is without having a speaker directly in your ear. I literally can't find anything to complain about so far.

@@temiongcecilio It sounds good to me. Of course its not going to be as good as some high-end circum-aural headphones, but pretty damn good considering you have situational awareness as well.

I bought the Open Comms after seeing this review, have used them for Calls zoom and Teams meeting, listening to music, speaking whilst working to the gym in the gym to listen to workouts and music, on my scooter was on a call was awesome. In the rain, no problems at all. These are designed for people who are on the go, you never need miss a call again, and will never need to put a phone to your ear again. The people I am calling have found that the call quality is amazing and do not notice the surrounding sound. They are great quality and unobtrusive, super light, comfortable and you forget you are wearing them. They are awesome daily use headset.

I see you are using them for the purposes I bought them for. With multi-point pairing configured, I cannot see to get the opencomm to switch well between devices. There is nothing in the instructions for manually switching between devices either. What has your experience been?

I purchase the SHOKZ Open Run Pro and the Open Run with the mike. After testing out both of these devices, The Open Run Pro sound quality was better than the one with the mike. I could hear people clearly and they could hear me clearly. It did seem to be that the mike extension was necessary. It was also $30 less. I returned the one with the Mike and purchased 2 more without. I've watched RUclips videos where this particular bone conduction headset has high reviews. I consider this to be one of the best purchases I have made. The reason for having 3 of these is that I am a first responder and there are times when I don't have a place to plug in and charge up the headsets. I have at least 6 to 7 hrs. talk time. 10 hrs. stand by.The future is here.

I'm a truck driver, and have used Blueparrot headsets for years. After talking on the phone with friends, and family all day long my ear would hurt. A friend said he got this, and he loved it. I have seen several other drivers with them, and they loved it to. I decided to give them a try it is a big difference. I was able to wear them all day with no discomfort. I'm not sold on the mag charger because with the Blueparrot I can use any micro USB cable, but with this I have to use the proprietary charger if something were to happen that I need a replacement on the road idk where the hell I could get one.

Great review - I found it hard to find a proper comparison of these two models - even their website didn't provide much useful information. It seems that they expect someone who does zoom calls all day and works out to buy both models as neither suits both purposes. I'm not sure if this was a wise strategy or not as I will likely priortize working out and not buy the opencomm (at least for now). I would pay more money (within reason) to get one that does both (there would have to be a removable mic arm on the opencomm).

I am talking on the phone x hours of the day, indoors and outdoors. I have tried every headset type from cheap wired, to headsets of varying quality to pods and buds and all of them have had a shortcoming in one way or another. This headset ticks all the boxes for talking on the phone and can be comfortably be worn for hours at a time. Probably the biggest tick goes to being outside in the wind or in a busy environment like a supermarket. Not even the best pods or buds could deal with those situations but these can and I'm glad my search is over for fully functioning phone calls and conferencing.

No matter how I reset it, the set still could not work. This product needs to improve on its quality control before selling defective sets to the consumers.

I imagine one case when such headphones might be especially useful - when you have for example an online English class with the tutor via headphones (because there are other people at home), yet you need to hear your own voice to control your pronunciation to make it sound correct. Or another example - again to practice your pronunciation with the Rosetta Stone app (or other). Basically, those are the only two reasons why I would buy those headphones. You can hear your own voice and at the same time, you do not disturb people around.

I have the Aeropex to listen to music in the office. And I noticed I could actually pair them to my office phone and wanted to use them instead of an office headset (I don't like over the head headsets). But listeners on the other end weren't very happy with the transmission. So, this version sounds perfect. I just ordered them. But.....I still want to listen to music. So I'm going to experiment with one one Galaxy Live earbuds in one ear only with the Opencomm set on.

Very excellent review... one thing not reviewed... my main concern, how does it block out background noise for your audience on the line? ie. working from home with a lawnmower outside, kids outside, the occasional dog bark... or in an office with co-workers that are loud talkers. When you discussed noise-cancelling, it seems like you were thinking about what YOU could hear, not what the mic would pick up for the other person on the line. Again, very good review, i just wish I could find a test of that without having to spend the money and then do the test myself. I got the airpod pro and it of course blocks out all the background sound for ME, but it still picks it up and the person on the line hears all the background noise... follow up video with test only would be greatly appreciated.

I've bought this headset and I'm sorry to say that the microphone is way softer than my other regular headsets and even the mic on my laptop. perhaps this is because of the noize cancelling aspects of the mic but it is too soft. this is not a problem with a person to person call but once you go in a multy person call it is evident that your mic is too soft in comparison with the others. I returned the headset and got the same model (bought a white one the second time) but the problem was exactly the same. I made sound recordings to compare them.
so be warned that either my country got bad batch of product or you might want to reconcider.

I didn't feel the sound was strong enough otherwise. I have not yet used the mic and I have had them at least a year, but it does rub against my cheek, so I imagine that is going to cause some sort of static on a call. I wish the mic was bendable. I am having multi-pair and or user error issues. I ran through multi-point pairing and sync'd Bluetooth with an iPhone and Windows 10 (BT 5.2) desktop. The headset is never connected to both devices at the same time. I do not see a way to manually switch the opencomm between the two devices. From what I understand in the manual it "allows a seamless transition between the two". In my case I can get it to sometimes switch devices by maybe initiating a video to play on my desktop or perhaps starting a phone call with my phone. Sometimes the opencomm switches between the devices and it is not intuitive. I need to be able to keep headset mult-point paired and quickly switch between phone calls, software meetings, and other thing likes playing a video on device or streaming music on another.
A video for the other headset model Trekz shows pushing the multi-function button once to manually switch between devices. I cannot imaging that feature is on an audio headset and NOT on a conferencing headset. Am I missing something here as I stated this could be user error?

That is a good use case. I want to say the wind in both the mic and sound interference might make the device not optimal. I think this is really intended for office use - but if you find it is workable in your use case I’d be interested in hearing about it

New subscriber. Question: Would you recommend the microphone as being suitable and reliable enough for podcast-type video recording of the broadcaster's audio - as well as guest appearances on others' broadcasts?

    • @neverenoughtech
      @neverenoughtech  3 года назад +1

I’d recommend the device for phone calls and meetings. It’s probably good enough for those other purposes but if I was doing it regularly and trying to sound professional I would find other solutions. Dedicated mic or something wired.

It’s not a point to point communicator . It’s meant to replace/act as the speakers and mic on BT enabled device. It allows you to make phone calls hands free and with your ears open.

Do you have any problem with MS Teams. I have problems in last 3 weeks when I am going mute in MS teams. Audrey says Mute on Mute off each time I toggle and when I am in mute couple of beeps are flashing on my ears every 5 or 10 seconds. It is really annoying. It was not affected by the mute button on MS teams before and everything was fine.

I went to Best Buy looking for the OpenComm. And, f course, they were out so I “settled” for the OpenRun Pro. My primary use is leading classes via WebX/Zoom and recoding Captivate tutorials. I fully expected the mic to pick up too much background noise and have to return it for the OpenComm when they get I in stock.
Nope - the Pro’s mic works great. I wouldn’t teach from the balcony, but in my home office is perfect. They’re extremely comfortable. I could (and do) wear them all day
