Is their any difference in the sound quality between the Openmove and the aeropex
The openmove does have different sound settings which I should have mentioned in the video. One for normal listening, voice (podcast), and then one for when you have earplugs in your ears. So I would say the sound quality is more customizable with the aeropex because there are no sound settings with the aeropex.
:O
@@GokuRunner openmove has ear plugs?
I've had every model of aftershokz bonephones and the aeropex is definitely worth the money.
Do you know what the new feature is in the open run vs. the aeropex?
I love my Aeropex and their IP rating. Had the Trekz Air models prior and went through multiple sets due to water damage from sweat. Pretty sure the special charging port on the Aeropex is how they get that rating. The Trekz Air had a USB port and sweat would get past the port's cover and they were toast after that.
Aeropex is the way to go for sure.
I can recommend the aeropex, use them for cycling, when out and about and listening to podcasts while doing housework.
As cool as the magnet charge is USB-C charge would be ideal!
How’s the sound quality on them while cycling?
I usually use my AirpodPros but when I descend one of the buds usually fall out and I have to stop and climb back up just to find it.
@@drchris103 I only listen to podcasts really while cycling and the sound quality is more than good enough. My only negative is wind noise which can kick in at high speed. Definitely better than the titanium but still a small issue
Thanks for the review. I’ve been using my beats for a few years, but if I ever decide to change I’ll check them out.
Congratulations on surpassing 3k subs!🎉
I like these for running outside but as far as regular listening jaybird vistas are my go to headphones.
@@GokuRunner oh okay. I’ll keep that in mind. Thanks
Great review! I REALLY want a pair of aeropex!
They are my faves for sure.
Pitty they don't have auto off, all the reviews state that this is the biggest disadvantage of aftershockz. Since they are all Bluetooth, the protocol can easily sense that nothing is streaming anymore, or that the phone is not connected anymore for more then x minutes. So pitty, I'll wait the next iteration
As far as being able to hear the surroundings while running, I think I prefer a single earbud over Aftershokz. With Aftershokz, I feel the surrounding noise, like traffic, drowns out the headphones. 🤷🏾♂️
Yeah in super loud situations they become useless. I had them on while mowing the lawn and they were drowned out for sure. For me and country roads they work well because we get the occasional car go buy and it's good to know it's there.
@@GokuRunner Bro do you not wear protective earplugs while mowing the lawn? Gotta protect what you have.
I'll usually wear my jaybird vista's while I mow. Still blasting my ears with music though.
@@GokuRunner I would definitely recommend using the ear plugs that came with the Aftershoks , I used them at a plant working and with the plugs it makes the sound better than pretty much any pair of headphones.
Thank you so much I bought the Aftershokz Aeropex I love comfort and you made awesome points Thank you so much it will be delivered today :P
Sweet. you wont be dissapointed.
@@GokuRunner it's so clear and light weight thank you so much 10/10
How many months before you see battery life deteriorating?? Great review btw 👍🏼
I've had the 1st Aftershokz version AIR for 2yrs and have had no battery deterioration at all. I have had the Aero for 7 months and again, no deterioration.
Good video. Thanks. Man, if they weren’t $160!!! I need the dust proof and waterproof, not because I run, but because I work in a tire factory where I get dirty and it’s over 100° everyday in the summer. I’ve wanted these for a couple of months now, but just can’t make myself overpay that much. I guess if they lasted several years…
They have sales every so often. So keep a lookout for those.
I think they might auto off when you put them on the charger.
Great Review 🌱
Thanks AB
@4:20 If the device doesn't support fast charging, the power supply won't switch to a higher voltage. It's safe to plug it in any USB charger! USB takes care of that, you can plug together any USB plugs and it won't break things.
That's not what the aftershokz rep relayed to me but you can go ahead and keep doing what you're doing.
@@GokuRunnerOK I guess your rep wasn't informed correctly :) I do that all the time. You can plug in 100W laptop chargers with a Type-C plug into phones, and I use my smartphone's fast charging power adapters to charge my headsets, keyboards and other non-fast charging devices. USB operates in 5V unless the device and the charger agree on a higher voltage. It uses one of several protocols, for example USB-PD which is standardized by USB-IF.
Also Thanks for the review! I just ordered the Aftershokz OpenComm and I'm looking forward to having that. I'll plug it into my fast charger and let you know :)
@@alphanimal nice! Sounds like you no more about then me so I'll trust ya. Good luck with the opencomm and do let me know if any issues arise. Have a great night
Great review! Are the areo’s waterproof? I want to sit in my hot tub with these
Yup I'll shower with mine.
Ony showerproof. You cannot swim with it
It’s a shame that many reviews haven’t highlighted this, but the openwaves rigid ear hooks can hurt after prolonged use. This is just exacerbated if you have large head.
I have a large head and also wear glasses - the openwave is just a no good as it’s very uncomfortable! Compared to the openwave, the awropex is night and day when it comes to comfort. There are a few other benefits - but this is the biggest difference I’ve noticed.
Thanks for your input! Yeah not to comfy. I sold mine
I work at a warehouse, been wanting to listen to music but be able to hear my surroundings. We also can wear ear plugs to dampen the sound of the warehouse for ear protection, which there are also pretty relatively quiet areas too.
My question is, if I were to wear ear plugs in the loud environment would I be able to get good enough quality that I can hear my music with the ear plugs in?
Mainly I'm just looking to pass the time and having any quality of music or podcasts is better than none. I also wear a beanie on top of the ear plugs, which can help trap any sound and dampen outside noise.
I totally just went out and mowed the lawn for a bit to test it out for you. Id suggest the openmove because it has sound sittings. Voice, earplugs mode, and music. When compared to the aeropex the earplugs mode really made a big difference when on as the aeropex were too bassy. You will be able to hear your podcast nice and clear with these and earplugs in.

@@GokuRunner okay thank you, I know the less battery will be a bit of a problem. But I know I can just get a power bank to extend the battery time.
Also, thank you for going the extra mile to test this out for me!
@@doomersnek3878 I had the trekz wich had earplug mode, but it broke, the plastic part. I bought the aftershokz air. It sounded better, but the equaliser had 2 of the same settings, no earplug mode.
I searched for a software solution. I found equalizer fx for android, it configurated it by hand and it sounded the same as earplug mode.
It is a bit more hassle. But works.
The aftershokz air fell on the floor, one speaker was dead.
I know have the openmove, for a year. It does have this mode. Although that's great, it doesn't fit as well as the air.
If I had to choose, I rather have, better fit than earplug mode, just because I had a solution for that.
I don't understand why not all shokz just have this.
Ofcourse I dropped the openmove, and now that has a broken speaker.
They don't like being dropped.
I gues the openrun pro might get it by firmware update, because that's the only one that has firmware options.
What about those who wear glasses? Is it compatible?
I wear glasses as well. No real issue with them. Same comfort level with the aeropex being alot more comfortable.
@@GokuRunner Thanks for your quick reply
I’ve had times when I wear these and a bike helmet and sunglasses and a covid mask all at the same time. Gets a little crowded behind your ears.
MAJOR PROBLEM WITH BOTH. The headsets' controls do not play well with computers. In most cases they don't work with computers at all, and must be controlled by the computer. It is a known issue with the company having no solution at this time. UGH!
So, I love my aeropex but I haven't used them as of late because keeping track of the cables is so annoying and after a year and a half the battery doesn't last as long as it used too. All my devices are USB-C. However, it gets kinda loud at work sometimes, I don't want to go to something with lower volume/worse sound quality. Tell me!! Is it worth the switch?
Sound quality I haven't noticed any difference. I think with the sound profiles the open moves may actually be better.
@@GokuRunner okay. I'm sold.
Isn’t there a 2yr warranty on them , send them back if the battery life is significantly less than stated
Super helpful review, thank you!
Any Single Sided Hearing people finding you can hear with BOTH ears with these?
How about wind noise while cycling?
*************PLEASE ANSWER ********I'm doing a project. I need to hear the outside when wearing the headset. and most importantly, can we listen to 8d music.so it sounds good only in in-ear headphones.Need to perfectly understand where the sound is coming from. I have no opportunity to try the product. So does it have perfect stereo capability. if I buy it and it's not what I want it would be wasted. can someone using the product please write. a very important project
The sound for me isn't the greatest but you'll be able to hear the outside with them on. It'll just sound like background music to your life.
@@GokuRunner I will not listen to music with this headphone, just stereo feature should be good. Can it do that, just like we feel where the enemy is in games?
Yeah should be good for that. Left and right speakers will work like normal and you can hear the background.

Good video, but i have a dude with the sound? wich is better? for music
They both sound similar but openmove may be a little better.
I kind of want the openmove just because it's so much cheaper
Lots of people love it. Its a solid headset.
I was testing both of them out at their demo stand at my local gadget shop, as soon as I put the openmoves on, I put it right back cause they're not comfortable at alll, the price of the aeropex are very justified as for just how comfortable they are, after a while I'll actually forget that they're there
I agree totally with your thoughts.

You did a review but didn’t tell us if they sound different. 😞
They have the same drivers so the sound is the same except for the openmove has different sound settings which I should have mentioned in the video. One for normal listening, voice (podcast), and then one for when you have earplugs in your ears. So I would say the sound quality is more customizable with the aeropex because there are no sound settings with the aeropex.
Mines appear to be charging but no power when the cord is removed. Any suggestions?
Me too
What about if you wear glasses?
I wear glasses and sunglasses with them and they don't bother me at all 😎
I returned my Aftershokz Aeropex today.
I bought it yesterday. It was great in every way, except one thing: I expected it to be ONLY bone conduction, and not both bone conduction and the regular in-ear headphone.
When I turned it on and put it on the table, it was so loud that I could hear it from outside my room! It was like a loudspeaker.
I don't understand why they added the regular in-ear speaker function to it. It was really a pity that I had to return it.
Does anyone know any headphone that has ONLY bone conduction sound, and not in-ear sound?
Yeah I don't know if its actually bone conduction or just crappy sound coming out of the "speakers" they work well enough for me on the run though so thats mainly when i use them
@@GokuRunner
Thanks for your reply.
It must be completey silent when not on a person's head. This is what they advertise.
Some people suggested that it was probably because I put it on the table, and the table resonated and cause the sound!
But I also held it in my "hand". I turned the volume up to "middle", and could hear it clearly when it was in my hand, ie a distance of about 30 centimetres from my ears.
When I put it on highest level, it was really loud and clear. I would not call it headphone anymore, but loudspeaker!
If it has no traditional speaker, then the problem was only my specific device, and not a general one. That is still strange.
Can you please test this by holding your Aeropex in your "hand", while on highest level, and see if you hear anything?
@@sc-- It still works by creating vibrations. At higher volumes or when not used as intended you're going to hear audio leaking just like any other headphone.
I don't care about podcasts, etc. I want a pair for music, but have to be open ear because I drive a truck? Anyone have suggestions?
They’ll sound ok for music. I got used to them
Bose also makes a pair you may want to check out
all this info we can read on aeropex website. what about sound quality? is there any difference? what about micorphon?
this video is useless to me. sorry :(
Same drivers. Sound quality on bone conduction headphones are trash and I don't use them for calls because honestly who talks on phones anymore nowadays. 😊
@@GokuRunner So You saying that sound and voice quality is exactly the same? i use headphones on teleconferences . closed headphones makes me crazy when i have to talk more than 10 minutes. that’s why microphone quality is so important to me. i had tested aeorpex at least sound quality and compared with aftershokz Air. Difference is huge but i have no feelings with Openmove. i will buy anyhow one of the product but why pay twice more if chipper model gives the same
@@arkadiuszlewicki251 sound quality to me is the same plus they have the same driver. Anothet thing openmove does have an option to switch the sound quality specifically for voice so it actually may sound better then the aeropex. For longer use the aeropex are way more comfortable compared to the openmove. They also make a model that has a extended microphone attached to it. Check out OpenCom it's may be perfect for you.
I have Baha implants for hearing as I’m mostly deaf over an ear disease. Contiplantisng getting them but not sure. Any one in the comments have experience with hearing implants and this. Thank you in advance.
I've let my dad use them and he has really bad hearing and he is unable to use them.
