I dropped out of college ten years ago, and tomorrow I'm taking an apprenticeship test to get into electrical trade school. This is exactly what I needed, and I feel so much more confident now. Thank you so much for this. UPDATE: I just took the test.... I was so sure that I completely failed, the maths portion was incredibly difficult; but I stuck to what I knew and applied the principles covered here. I passed with an ABOVE AVERAGE score and fully qualified for the programme I am applying for. I would not have succeeded without this video. Thank you so much.

Tell me why he’s taught me so much in a good 15 min than my junior year algebra 2 teacher could ever teach me 🤨 honestly props to you Im reviewing for my placement test and this is SO helpful (: you came in clutch (especially cause you’re easy to understand) UPDATE: I TOOK MY PLACEMENT TEST AND PASSED UNITS 0-9 (that’s all there was) all bc of this man right here 🥺❤️❤️thank you so much
because he is reviewing something you have heard before and he is teaching at the big picture level and then zooming into easy examples. Because he doesn't get bogged down and keeps it moving the basic ideas and concepts feel pretty natural to handle. I always watch a video like this before or after studying in a focused way.
I haven't been in school in a very long time and I decided to go to college, I have been watching your videos to refresh my memory and learn things that I didn't get the chance to learn before for my placement test, I wanted to say that these videos have been helping me tremendously and thank you for posting them and teaching us, you make it easy to understand and talk us through step by step, again, thank you, I feel more confident in my abilities to solve algebra problems now.
32:00 I just want to say, there are a few confusing areas in this tutorial because there's a lot to remember and JG doesn't always reuse terminology, making it tricky sometimes (for people like me who are not reviewing, but trying to relearn). At this timestamp, you can easily "see" the y = mx + b equation showing through, but he doesn't remind you of this. So in the examples prior to this timestamp, he'll talk about y = -|x| and while it may make sense "in the moment," when you are thrown this outside of context, think of it this way: y = mx + b, where y = -1|x| + 0 and then suddenly this makes far more sense (at least to me). Don't forget, y = y-coordinate, m = slope, x = x-coordinate, and b = y-intercept. What is missing here is the x-intercept, but to solve for X-intercept, replace y with 0 and solve for x.
Revisiting this video, I forgot I'd left a comment. In the 9 months since, I enrolled back into a community college and took a pre-calc class (not easy haha), and now I'm in calculus I. I just wanted to learn something different at my old age! It all started here with algebra videos on youtube ;)
Norman Henderson That was me. Now it’s biting me in the butt and I have to waste time working up to my required class of calc 1. Definitely would tell kids not to brush off math even if they “don’t need it in the real world”
The way you go into different methods to solve equations is something none of my professors or teachers have ever fully done. This has been an absolute life saver of a video.
I wanted to take a second and thank you for making this video. I am sure it took a very long time to create!! I am about to take my College Algebra final exam and am very grateful for this review. I am sure it will help me. You are very skilled in your speaking style and teaching methods, it makes for a very smooth learning process! Thank you!
First of all, your voice is soo soothing and makes math less stressful. Second you're getting the point across with each advancement by giving us a practice problem and helping us solve it. Love this . Thank you.
Using this to rush some studying for my final tomorrow! Been using your videos all semester man. The work you put into this and explaining the details is very much appreciated.
Thank you so much. I'm dyscalcilic, and none of this made sense to me until you explained it, but now it seems so simple! You have a gift for teaching.
This video is incredibly helpful! I have been out of high school for 6 years and needed desperately an algebra review before going to take my placement test for college courses! The first time I took a practice test, I got a 20% and after watching this, I got a 60% the second time!!
DUDE! Whoever did this video is METAL ASF! I had been stressing out trying to find tutoring to refresh my brain so I can take my ACCUPLACER test, and I can honestly say I feel confident that this will help! Thank you so much!
I'm starting college in January and I'm taking Math 111. This definitely helps bc it's been almost a year and a half since I graduated HS, and everything I was taught had gone almost completely out of my head since then.

Been looking to go back to school and this was not only a great review for me for this injection but also a big help since I’m homeschooling my son. Great way to explain things to him and show him.
Honestly haven’t taken college algebra in 3 years (failed by 2 points last time which really discouraged me) but now I plan to go back to conquer my fear of math. I feel so good actually remembering this stuff. Thank you so much for the refresher!
Thanks a million to your style of teaching math...I needed to review what I have learned in college math and post college - I can do math from my mind just from 5 minutes with your course. Thank you a million times over and over again YOU ARE AWESOME, AMAZING!!!
I’m 46 years old and I chose a skilled trade over college because I can’t seem to grasp math. I grew up in a small rural town and attended a Christian school till 6th grade. I didn’t receive a good education or foundation in math. I learned and understood more in the first 5 minutes than I did during my entire math education in grade school. Thank you so much for helping me understand that I’m not inferior or unintelligent. I’ve just never had anyone explain the concepts to me. You’ve given me self esteem in this area I’ve lacked for my whole life. I’m very grateful you shared this knowledge for free to the RUclips community.
Best ever teacher I have ever seen teaching math in such a fantastic manner and perfect way! God bless you. if I have a medal right now, that belong to you
Thank you so much for uploading this video! I just started College Algebra and this is the first math class I've taken in 12 years. I was so lost and felt so dumb for not understanding or remembering any of it. This video helped me catch up to where I needed to be to understand the class. Thank you!
Thank you so much. Your videos helped me pass a college class where my professor was ABSOLUTELY the worst at explaining what steps to take and when to take them. Keep up the great work.
I've been taking notes on this for two-three days and you've completely refreshed my mind and even made it easier for me than they did in school my freshman-junior year.
Honestly thank you so much. Having been watching you all through high school. You got me through it all. Now I am taking my placement tests and I know you're going to get me through that too.
I'm taking a math placement exam after not having taken a math course in about 10 years; it was a great refresher, thank you very much for putting this together, definitely going to refresh using some of your other vids!
Thank you so much for making this video. I am taking college algebra now and I have forgotten most of it since I have been out of school for over 15 years but you are bringing me up to date again. Thank you!
This video is AMAZING, I'm working through this series to get ready for my college math placement exam and this is so helpful. I made notes based of the video and they're so clean and organized thanks to the clear and concise presentation of all of the information. Thank you so much!!
You are way better as a teacher than any of my math teachers i've encountered so far in my high school life. I'm on college btw i'm a freshman and i'm taking Computer Engineering, there is a bunch of math subjects such as College and Advanced Algebra, Plane & Spherical Trigonometry, Analytic & Solid Geometry, and Mathematics in the Modern World... Thanks for this lesson, i've learned so much. I just couldn't keep up with the algebra lesson, it's my weakness but you know what look at me learning and entering a field combined with both electrical engineering, computer science and information technology.
Man...I went back to university after being out of high school for about 10 years, and I have calculus first year; needless to say, I was more than lost when I opened the textbook and the pre-calc "refresher" they gave was a complete joke. I have my first midterm on Saturday morning, and watching this video is literally going to save me. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for this content! I'm going back to school and taking a heavy load of math and science, which are my struggle subjects but you've made it so much easier! The simple way you explain things has helped me so much!!
Awesome. I've been teaching myself Calculus to help with Physics and other sciences; but I didn't have the Algebra background I needed, first. So, I started watching these videos of yours and it helped out a great deal. Thanks so much!
love love love this. clear and quick explanations. practice problems. covers a variety of topics instead of being an hour video over 1 subject in algebra. it's got everything i needed to brush up after a 4 year break from school. ur the best thanks
I'm quite drunk and my brain breaks on math, but still I was able to understand everything. Next question is why in 90's music clips this was selected for auto play
I love all your videos. Although I didn't pass my Chemistry class when watching your videos at first (especially because I watched your videos last minute with zero study time), I ended up going at it again and getting a B+! Now, I'm watching these videos to prepare myself for the GRE (graduate record examination). Thank you for your time in making these videos.

I used this video to prepare for my College Algebra CLEP Exam and it was very useful. He does a great job explaining the concept and even though the video seems long, it goes by very quickly.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, AND THANK YOU AGAIN!! Because I was really nervous about taking Chemistry this semester, because I haven't done math in so long. But the confidence boost this video just gave me is unmatched!
going back to school after 10 years of being out and this video made so much information I learnt a lifetime ago come flooding back in. Well done in making such an understandable and knowledgable video
@@lifelivelove1 I actually did pretty well! I go to a pretty competitive STEM school so their math and science placements (and classes in general) are harder than usual but I got pretty good score despite not being much of a math person! I was placed into Precalculus, got an A- last semester, and am now taking Calculus A!
Awesome! Clear explanations and easy to follow solutions. I'm watching these videos over the summer to be ready for a college algebra class in the fall. Thanks! We need more math teachers like The Organic Chemistry Tutor in schools. I would've loved math more rather than dread it.
This helped me so much! I thought I forgot all of this but, I didn’t just needed a reminder. I knew the answer before he answered the question he asked 😃
Big thanks to this videos and to the content creator,, It helps me a lot with my mathematics skills.. I took my Aacuplacer test last June 15,2022 in Next gen advanced-algebra and functions and got above average score band on the Test.. i studied and understand the concepts fo almost 2 months.. Kudos to you Sir.. thank you for sharing this wonderful videos..
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. 18 years Ive been out of school and was foolish enough to take a full class load with a full time job. Your video has been an absolute blessing. I can not stress enough how appreciative I am.
Thank you sooooo much for this video! I've been out of school for 8 years and started back at college this semester and your video helped me remember all of the math I used to know. I even passed my placement test. Thank you!!!
Finally, I found the right Math tutor! It's been almost 2 decades since I didn't do any College algebra but then suddenly I had to take now to continue my studies. Finally, this amazing Math tutor brought back all my memories and made my Math life refreshing. Thank you!
Y’all I ain’t gon lie, this is the real deal. you should be able to tell by my dialect I ain’t that sharpest tool in the shed, but in considerably late fashion compared to most people heading into their junior yr of college, I finally declared I’m gonna major in Finance. I haven’t taken a math class since my gen Ed’s and I’m in need of relearning some basic concepts of algebra and calc before taking a course this fall. I’ve been watching his videos on and off for a about two and and ive noticed so much change from day 1 of relearning and I haven’t even been all the way consistent with his videos. IF YOU WANT TO LEARN MATH FROM THE GROUND UP THIS IS YOUR GUY. I can’t express enough how effect his methods of explaining and teaching are compared to high level teachers and professors that aren’t on RUclips.
This is a great video! I am preparing to mentor a high schooler for his Algebra 2 Final and this is so incredibly efficient! I am going to tell my grandson about this and watch it with him. I'm sure it will increase his Algebra abilities by a factor of two.
26:05 The form: Ax + By = C vs the form y = mx + B The names of these two forms needs to be standardized and set in stone somehow. It makes me insane because the names of these two seem to change from one day to the next. Both of them have been refered to as 'STandard," and both of them have been refered to as "General" And different textbooks mix up these names. I've decided to only refer to the y = mx + b as Slope intercept form and nothing else.
I'm on my first semester of my first year of middle school and I already have learned algebra 1 and 2 and now I'm learning this. I could finally brag of how smart I am.
THIS is the BEST REVIEW in one spot!!! I have procrastinated on the math portion of my core, and I am finally getting around to it. Trust me.... if you are going the higher education route, do it right after high school if possible and STICK WITH IT. This stuff gets harder as you get older and the longer it has been since you have done it, the more frustrating it can be. My unsolicited advice for you younger folks... I am 53 and I have been working on my two-year degree forever. Two more classes to go for my Associates. It may not sound like a big deal to most, but I am very proud of my accomplishment 🥳 Thank you JG for helping me get through this! Math tends to cause a lot of anxiety for me, and you have brought that down significantly. If I can do this, anyone can 😁
Thanks so much for this bro. I haven't taken math in a few semesters, and now I have to unexpectedly take it cuz of my minor. This is gonna help immensely for the ALEKS initial knowledge check!
Im 31 year old freshman in college that has been out of school for over a decade. Thank you so much for all of this free information. I watched the whole video and I know I'll be back to use this video and other videos on the channel
Gotta review algebra for an electrician apprenticeship. I was always pretty good at math, but it's been 5 years since I took any courses. This refresher is really helpful, thank you!
Great review...i haven't done algebra in 20 years literally.. And i wish this video existed when i was in highschool in the 90s you made it easy...thank you
I heard the whole lecture and I found it very intriguing. I learned how to multiply the properties of the exponents. If you multiply 2 x's with 5 x's, you'll get 7 x's. And much more. Thank you so much for the lecture. I can't wait to hear more of your lectures to help me become a renaissance man.

Yes
Man...I went back to university after being out of high school for about 10 years, and I have calculus first year; needless to say, I was more than lost when I opened the textbook and the pre-calc "refresher" they gave was a complete joke.
I have my first midterm on Saturday morning, and watching this video is literally going to save me.
Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for this content! I'm going back to school and taking a heavy load of math and science, which are my struggle subjects but you've made it so much easier! The simple way you explain things has helped me so much!!
You're a lifesaver. I'm getting ready to take a college placement test and this was just the kind of refresher I needed.
Bec youtube is wierd and it might be bec you watched something about math nums or science 😂
You have no idea how many times you've save my grades. THANK YOU AND KEEP DOING WHAT YOU'RE DOING.
Holy crap this is the best college algebra video i've ever watched. Please don't ever take this down, my son uses it too for his courses now!

Perfect review!! I haven’t done this in a decade and it brought everything back within minutes! Thank you 🙏🏻
I used this video to prepare for my College Algebra CLEP Exam and it was very useful. He does a great job explaining the concept and even though the video seems long, it goes by very quickly.
Ale Cisneros me too ! Good luck

Did you do well using this?
Keep learning well in Jesus name Amen 🍫😃🍫😃🍫
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, AND THANK YOU AGAIN!! Because I was really nervous about taking Chemistry this semester, because I haven't done math in so long. But the confidence boost this video just gave me is unmatched!
your welcome
This helped me for my Calculus course, you guys know what i'm talking about!
going back to school after 10 years of being out and this video made so much information I learnt a lifetime ago come flooding back in.
Well done in making such an understandable and knowledgable video
your welcome
I'm watching this to review for a college placement test. Bless your soul!
How did you do?
@@lifelivelove1 I actually did pretty well! I go to a pretty competitive STEM school so their math and science placements (and classes in general) are harder than usual but I got pretty good score despite not being much of a math person! I was placed into Precalculus, got an A- last semester, and am now taking Calculus A!
I am doing the same thing, so I hope I do as good as you.
How does this not have more views bro. literally showing this to my kids in the future. they will be so successful in life.
Awesome! Clear explanations and easy to follow solutions. I'm watching these videos over the summer to be ready for a college algebra class in the fall. Thanks! We need more math teachers like The Organic Chemistry Tutor in schools. I would've loved math more rather than dread it.
I have an exam coming up in the next couple weeks this video has already taught me a lot. You are a genius man thank you
I really love the breakdown to show exactly why what he's saying is true. It really helps.
Ive always been good at algebra but I feel even more confident now. Great video btw. Very clear and concise. :)
F.O.I.L. is an acronym for first, outer, inner, last. Whereby you combine those terms at 6:38.
This helped me so much! I thought I forgot all of this but, I didn’t just needed a reminder. I knew the answer before he answered the question he asked 😃
Big thanks to this videos and to the content creator,,
It helps me a lot with my mathematics skills..
I took my Aacuplacer test last June 15,2022 in Next gen advanced-algebra and functions and got above average score band on the Test.. i studied and understand the concepts fo almost 2 months..
Kudos to you Sir.. thank you for sharing this wonderful videos..
Thank you. 😭😭 Really needed this to start college after years away from school.
Thank you!
I’m a sophomore (10th grade) in high school & take this course . this helped me so much 😫😫

Taking calc II this semester and I'm watching your overviews on algebra 1, geometry, algebra 2, precalc and calc as a refresher.
I just finished calc 2 you will need lots of help with series
This is a great video! I am preparing to mentor a high schooler for his Algebra 2 Final and this is so incredibly efficient! I am going to tell my grandson about this and watch it with him. I'm sure it will increase his Algebra abilities by a factor of two.
You beast, thank you, we need tutors like you in school, keep it up!
Going back to college after 14 years. Your videos are truly helping me. Thank you!

26:05 The form: Ax + By = C
vs the form y = mx + B
The names of these two forms needs to be standardized and set in stone somehow. It makes me insane because the names of these two seem to change from one day to the next. Both of them have been refered to as 'STandard," and both of them have been refered to as "General" And different textbooks mix up these names. I've decided to only refer to the y = mx + b as Slope intercept form and nothing else.
AX++By==C
MX++B===y

I'm on my first semester of my first year of middle school and I already have learned algebra 1 and 2 and now I'm learning this. I could finally brag of how smart I am.
25 years later and I finally get it all!
This is gonna help immensely for the ALEKS initial knowledge check!
your welcome
Im 31 year old freshman in college that has been out of school for over a decade. Thank you so much for all of this free information. I watched the whole video and I know I'll be back to use this video and other videos on the channel
Did I watched 10 minutes and you made me smarter than when I was in high school lol thanks for the refresh and extra easy info on how to solve easier.
Why are you better at making this make sense than any teacher i had in high school?
This is perfect. My only suggestion is to make the videos louder.
I thought about it but my microphone will begin producing more background noise.
you could send me the audio file, and I could make it louder without it gaining much background noise.
Use the volume button
just use the imovie editor and cclick remove background noise than presto you have victory
Your voice is very calming and it’s straight to the point . Thank you !!! Also just a black background and the equations . Much appreciated !
I’m in 6th grade and I want to be the smartest person in my school and I want to get into Harvard when I’m older so that’s why I’m watching this
do that then:) good luck
Nice! :D I’m in 8th grade :)

Gotta review algebra for an electrician apprenticeship. I was always pretty good at math, but it's been 5 years since I took any courses. This refresher is really helpful, thank you!
Taking a placement test for college math later this afternoon after watching this video. Wish me luck, I think it should be a piece of cake.
Hey I have to take my accuplacer test in a few days, can you tell me if this helped?
@@joannamccollum995 hi did this video help you? I am also taking my accuplacer test and I want to know if it helped.
Great review...i haven't done algebra in 20 years literally.. And i wish this video existed when i was in highschool in the 90s you made it easy...thank you
I'm like in 7th grade even though i haven't this yet in school he makes me understand stand it quite easily
Infact this guy is good! I never had an idea on college algebra but now I have knowledge about it. Kudos 👏🏼👏🏼
hill yes I've been suffering from math for more than 15 year's and this dude just summarized those years in 1:16:20
LOOL
I heard the whole lecture and I found it very intriguing. I learned how to multiply the properties of the exponents. If you multiply 2 x's with 5 x's, you'll get 7 x's. And much more. Thank you so much for the lecture. I can't wait to hear more of your lectures to help me become a renaissance man.
