    Very well put! I use these apps too and love how you described them. Waking Up is my favorite. Still using it daily after 7 months.

    Thank you for this video! I really liked my trial of Waking Up and your video here helped me choose to upgrade to the annual membership. :D Your comparisons were clear and very helpful!

    I have not tried Headspace, but I do regularly use 10% Happier, and I am currently using the Waking Up app too. Love them both.

    Insight timer! Free access to a lot of great guided meditations as well as a good timer (also has paid courses if you want to buy them).

    I‘ll go for headspace then!
    It sounds more beginner friendly.
    Their free courses are pretty good as well.

    I got headspace and Calm but after several months I felt I was missing something . Those apps are just to relax but do not provide insight into consciousness, awareness, higher self . So I installed Awake and I think is a better choice for me . We’ll see … it’s only a few days but I like the commentary , the explanation, getting deep into understanding the mind etc …

    I'm trying 'Headspace' and 'waking up' and 2 app's are quite different. In my opinion headspace is much easier for beginners. Thanks for video. :)

      It depends on one is looking for, but I agree that Headspace is better for most beginners. Glad you're liking it!

      Hey, my headspace app isn't working like it's showing ''ops something went wrong please retry'' and song isn't playing, do you have any solution?

    I associate that headspace voice with their ads. I didn’t know that was the only male voice available.

    Hi great review! I do feel you many could have mentioned the Conversations tab on the Waking Up app. That is to me by far the most relevant part of the app, that distinguishes it from all the other apps. I love all those in depth talks on the nature of consciousness, on Buddhism, on philosophies like Stoicism, on the differences between the different approaches and traditions of meditation etc. On nondialism. It encompasses every aspect and Sam is a great talker and thinker. But also a great listener. And thanks to the talks you also get to read other books and listen to podcasts by other teachers for example, like the Zen teacher Henry Shukman and his great Zen memoir and podcast with talks from his Mountain cloud Zen Center in Santa Fe New Mexico.
    Ohh and also the Waking Up app has recently added new courses by other teachers like Loch Kelly and Richard Lang (who both offer a more direct pointing out style type of teaching).
    This is and I agree with you here absolutely, not an app for beginners. Or at least better said it might scare beginners away. But if you like to think about life and what it all means you might give it a try anyway! :)

    • @PeterAkkies
      @PeterAkkies  4 года назад

      Yeah, the conversations tab is a nice part of Waking Up. I could definitely have mentioned that.

    Doesn't a gong going off in order to quell thoughts of "am I going to be late?!" and "did the app stop working?!" defeat the purpose of meditation?

      I disagree. Having a very brief sound every few minutes will at least for me help me from drifting of in thought, and help me to refocus.
