A point about tags vs projects, you can apply multiple tags but you can't assign a task to multiple projects. So ie, if I want to bring a perspective showing personal items, requiring deep concentration, I can do on my computer (3 different contexts), you can do that with tags. I agree with the ROI on how much time to spend tagging. I am currently exploring ways to automate the tagging using SW like Keyboard Maestro, and or combination HW Elgate Stream Deck). Task apps are becoming a hobby more than help me get things done. LOL
A great way to deal with tags is to context them in a way that you really use, like Peter said. I found this tags to be a must for me:
"Daily": this is a tag for NO MATTER WHAT, THIS HAS TO HAPPEND TODAY, and only 3 tasks max. per day get this tag.
"iPhone": things I can do when im not in my computer, so I can make most of my time when waiting a line or something like that (also I have a tag called "Studio", "Out" and "Market" - all of these are location based tags which help me to get my things done base in a that location)

Ha! I like your comment on making things a hobby. It's so true though. If someone enjoys tinkering around with their task manager, then by all means they should. As long as they are clear on what they're doing. If you just want to get stuff done, over-tinkering is a real risk.

Perhaps “mediation” would be a low ROI task label but “phone” or “computer” would be helpful? Click “phone” and instantly have all the projects that involve a phone call step. I still have a difficult time determining if something belongs on a projects list or given a task label.
How would you organize recurring reminder ’s in OF3? Would you tag them or create a project called Reminders - In case you want to review a batch of all the recurring reminders at once ? OR maybe a perspective built for corralling them all to review? In trying to decide the best way to keep track of them.
I'm not a pro in this, but your first suggestion seems great. I think I'll be using that
OmniFocus is great for answering questions 'What I need to do When' and I have wrestled with trying to make it useful for the question ' I did this when' eg a journal ( A bill arrives in the mail - I pay it - I wish to record the fact that I have paid it and refer back to it in x months when the next one is due to see if payment details have changed). Not only control of future events but recording of past events. Maybe someone has wrestled with the same problem.
I stick to Omni for 2 main reasons - the ability to forward emails and SIRI use with an iPhone
So no configuring Omni for journaling that I can find, but for info I have started using MAC Agenda and find Omni and Agenda a reasonable fit
Glad to hear you're liking Agenda, Geoffrey. OmniFocus is meant to help you organize your tasks using projects and I think it does a great job with that. It's not meant to record past events such as keeping track of bills you paid so it's not very good at that. Better to use tools the way they are meant to be used!
