My Thruxton R is now seven years old still looks new and performs great. Besides normal rides I do drag racing and land speed racing with. Recent mods to ecu, cam and slip on exhaust has it pumping out 101 rearwheel horsepower. Just add a corbin seat for rides over 200 miles.
I believe you can have the cowl fairing with those raised bars - for me it just looks the more complete unit that way. Reminds of the Ducatis 750ss/900ss.
Went to Triumph dealer today and seen one, nice looking bike fairplay and probably perfect for me at my age especially, but I couldn't live with that twin motor, my last bike was a triple and I loved it, before that I've had inline 4's and a VFR which was a V4, tough choices out there now with so many cracking bikes.
Nice review & great bike. Looks like a true all rounder. Modern spec classy retro looks, comfortable & can scratch a bit too. Although I'd definitely be sticking the race kit on it.
got a 2016 Thruxton 1200 non R standard in white with fairing. Looks more retro than the R. Handling, cornering decent, nice geometry to the riding position. Torque engine all out of puff at amount 115mph but it’s nice at normal speeds. Cruising at 90 mph is easy. The standard brakes and suspension are ok. Maybe the rear shocks could be better but they look the part, nicer than the yellow Ohlins in retro looks. My KTM Duke 790 is much quicker and faster but no one looks at it.
How can you even compare both bikes - the Thruxton is pure class - the speed twin looks like a very bog spec Bonneville T120 - just dull and ordinary looking nothing that would make me go wow look at that!
I wonder how it handles compared to a Kawasaki Z900RS which I reckon is probably its immediate competition. The Kwaka has got more advanced monoshock rear suspension but the Thruxton’s got a twin shock swinging arm design from decades ago (even though it’s got Ohlins).
Triumph’s 2020 Thruxton RS from £13,000 ... lol Triumph of Hinckley must be having a laugh .... I could make the same looking bike off eBay for half the price myself ..Triumph motorcycles suffering from that bug called...greed!!
The main reason I would choose the R9T over this, is that the riding position, riders look silly on thruxton 1200s. And retro bikes are too expensive for what they are. Not worth it.
Didnt feel like much of a review. You basically read everything we knew already from the spec sheet in November. Tells us the good and the bad that we didnt know. Sorry but not great.
Props to yammie for bringing people into the sport but this channel, Revzilla, visordown, and the ride to work guy (sorry forgot name) and Fortnine - tons of great options
Agree - whoever started messing with the paint after the silver was dropped did this bike no service and those blacked out engine casings and wheels looked drab after they had been all sparkly shiney aluminium. They even dropped the beautiful red double edged stitching on the saddle which made that bike look just class. Now its been dropped from production - so sad.
Always professional Michael. Thanks
“Grips like buggery” lol.

I own a Speed Twin. These are special bikes.
Nice review
That's a great sounding bike.
Great video, thank you 👍🏾
SPEED TWIN R please Triumph!
We need more Neeves videos

nice review !
No quickshifter? They fit them (up and down) to lower spec models, why not this range topper?
this bike is like one of those older ladies that still has it - you would after a few beers.
Not sure if this is a compliment or a burn.
My right ear enjoyed this
Do exhaust pipes still darken ?
Speed Twin or Thruxton RS?
I've owned the Speed Twin and now own the Thruxton RS. For me it is no question: the TTRS is the better bike.
How can you even compare both bikes - the Thruxton is pure class - the speed twin looks like a very bog spec Bonneville T120 - just dull and ordinary looking nothing that would make me go wow look at that!
2019 TFC or 2020 RS. Which is a better buy. Or wait for the 2020 TFC
TFC has 5 more bhp. 108 at the crank
It would be nice to get rid of using tubes in tires for such a premium machine
can you film a top speed ride by . like to hear the exhaust sound .ta
Which one will be better for occasional track days, cb1000 or thruxton rs ?? Btw great review👍
I was looking at the mv agusta superveloce, but the new thruxton rs has stolen my heart :-)
I wonder how it handles compared to a Kawasaki Z900RS which I reckon is probably its immediate competition. The Kwaka has got more advanced monoshock rear suspension but the Thruxton’s got a twin shock swinging arm design from decades ago (even though it’s got Ohlins).
The Kawa is nice is the bends but Triumph handles better: higher quality damping control, more balanced front to rear and increased grip.👍
Please review Royal Enfield Twins!
It's a nice looking bike
Has he been buggerd then he knows how it grips🙂
That was a bit like watching a Triumph advert😢
Paul B I feel like damn near every bike review is like this these days
Owned an R for a while, never really got on with it...too skinny and felt too precious and dainty in my view. Each to their own though.
indeed, i could never get a grip on the bike when i tested a second hand R, speed twin was much better in that sense.
What did you replace it with?
Same feeling.
Should have thought these thought before buying, 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
A quick shifter to compliment the extra power/ rpm would have been nice 🤔
death of the 360 degree crank twins because of a marketing department
You can get a nice Ducati Sport Classic 1000 for the same money. Which would be ‘better’?
About time to close the gap to the R nine T!
2G J The Thruxton has always been better than the BMW
Another 50hp and 50ft of torque would make it the perfect bike.
Triumph’s 2020 Thruxton RS from £13,000 ... lol Triumph of Hinckley must be having a laugh .... I could make the same looking bike off eBay for half the price myself ..Triumph motorcycles suffering from that bug called...greed!!
'They grip like buggery...' - just how, exactly, does buggery grip?
From behind.
Gregor Samsa Go in with no lube and find out.
Very little upgrade for a new badge

1050 r yeah.. performance wise with this money you can get a 1000cc superbike..

Welcome to MCN mate. Listing the specs is all they every do. These videos are almost as boring as that old geezer from Men and Motors
📝
What would bean example of a bike that costs half of this one and gives a similar amount of kicks? I am on a budget. This one is too much.
Royal Enfield Continental 650 GT
So many people would love this but needs to be £3k cheaper. Be asell out
Seems like every single motorcycle you guys review is "like super great and stuff"
Are we in an age where Yammie Noob is the expert voice of the motorcycle world? Hopefully not!
What's a Yammie Noob?
Props to yammie for bringing people into the sport but this channel, Revzilla, visordown, and the ride to work guy (sorry forgot name) and Fortnine - tons of great options
If I was after this type of bike i'd still go for the bmw 9t.
103bhp...............
Poor colours should have kept silver in the range.

my right ear doesnt like this
Not a reviewer, more like a roving salesmen
Big waiting list???
Lmao
Keep it
