Too bad I didn't know Jocelin Snow's #onefootdown trick when I rode this bike - it would've been much easier for me to handle! Better late than never :D After learning about this, I've ridden many more litre bikes since then. Check them out in this playlist here: bit.ly/FTRSLitreBikeReviews

I would buy an ssd, if you have an android get like a samsung or sandisk drive Superfast upload and keep the backup until you're done uploading. They're tiny only a little bigger than a usb thumb drive.
I keep mine in my pocket plug it into my phone

I got my thruxton RS two months ago. I’ve already invested $1500 into parts lol! The great thing about this bike is that you can be a hooligan on it, or if you want you can take it easy. I got my 2020 RS used with 1300 miles on the clock, cost $13,000. Considering a new bike would have been almost $18,000 out the door, and the modern 2022 models are the same as the 2020, it made sense to buy used. The thing is practically brand new in every way. If you ask me, it’s the best thing since sliced bread! 😂👍

@ 3.54 you said the Thruxton, Scrambler, & the Street Cup are all new bikes.
Actually, the Scrambler came out in the 60's! Sometime during the intervening yrs, Triumph
stopped production, I guess. The Scrambler was back during the early 2000's, as I was going to buy one,
and the Dealer had 3 in stock, in Scottsdale AZ. Of course, that was after I checked online to
see if they were still being manufactured. Anyway, Thank you for the Reviews!

I made a comment once that flat footing is better. In which i still believe. But if you want a variaty of choice learning how to hobble is a must. If your 6ft its never a problem but smaller people shouldnt be restricted or limited because of that. In citys it can be annoying especially after a long ride i know. But if the bike you like and feel most comfortable on means you have to prepare yourself before stopping, So be it. It will be yours and a thing of beauty to its owner. I have had 3 Triumphs myself and now on a 2016 Rocket 3. I flat foot no probs but its long and is awkward to manouver. I cant throw it in like ive always been used to, But ive got used to that. Nothing slows it down that engine just pulls so Just hang on when its windy. But for those long rides i just love it. For that engine is effortless. I also feel the same about BMW,s. They are an exellent well made Bike, But i just cannot get used to that sticky out engine.

great review... I have about 150mi on mine... I love it. Actually... everyday, before I take it out for a spin... I practice slow speed maneuvers, u-turns, figure 8s and the such. Such a joy taming the ole girl who initially had a tendency to "buck" my attempts to slow her down and perform the more mundane tasks. So... after a 10-15 minute session of slow speeds... I reward her and myself with a nice country road jaunt. I also have fun modding her myself as well. Im plan to do all the basic maintenance as part of the total ownership experience. Thanks for the review, it was partly responsible for my choosing to buy it.... eh-hem... as my first bike... at 59. OH YEAH BABY... MID-LIFE INVENTORY IN FULL SWING. HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

It is a given that Triumph and BMW owners are very loyal to their brand; yours is Triumph. Mine is BMW. I think the Thruxton R is a superb machine but to imply the BMW boxer engine is not smooth? And although the engine is "wide" that has no impact when you sit on it. The R9T weighs less, has a lower centre of gravity, more hp and torque and no fuss shaft drive. I think you should do a side by side ride comparison. Just for fun. With respect from 🇨🇦

Good to see you're making some videos during the lockdown. $600, seems expensive for the first service. What does that service entail? I learned how to do the basic service on my Moto Guzzi V7iii so I didn't have to pay those crazy dealer fees. With the Moto Guzzi it's pretty simple... you just change some fluids and check the valve clearance. I understand the desire to take it to the dealer for that first service, make sure everything is done right. They should cut you a better deal on servicing since you're practically an ambassador for the brand. I was actually looking for a used Bonneville when I stumbled across a deal I couldn't resist on a used 2017 Moto Guzzi. I like the Moto Guzzi a lot but I still really want a Triumph.

The Thruxton is a fascinating offering, but based on too narrow a sampling, here’s my observation: The longer one owns a Thruxton the more it’s farkled into a Speed Twin. The bars get a tad higher, the pegs a tad lower, the seat a tad more comfortable. I suspect if Triumph has a “sober second thought swap” program six months after a Thruxton purchase, they’d sell a lot of Speed Twins.

When you went down on the gravel, did you lock up the front wheel?

I should have elaborated :(. I am newer to motorcycle riding and you mentioned not to touch the front brake on gravel. I think it might be ok if you use a very light touch, have ABS, or otherwise avoid locking the wheel. However, I don't know this for sure about gravel because I am new. I was wondering if you recalled back to know if maybe the bike promptly laid down because the wheel locked.

Oh yea forgot I had that oldie in there - yea it was for using the front brake on gravel. Don’t know about the other questions, though, some dirt riders could probably answer that one

Being very familiar with your skill level, the Thruxton is way more bike than you need. In addition, with the lean forward and legs back riding position, you wouldn't be very comfortable after a couple hours of riding. The Speed twin would be a better choice though with 96 HP and only 420 lbs, it too could be a hand full for you. In the Triumph line, the Street Twin would be a much better bike for you. Or, since you go off roading occasionally, all be it, not on purpose, the 900 Scrambler. Just my 2 cents. As usual your video was very entertaining and fun to watch.

I'm no soyboy but I like hearing your perspective as a woman (because they can often notice different things). The heat comfort issue is one that is often neglected by reviewers - but never forget to mention the ambient temperature when you were riding as well. Take care.

Wow...you so damned lucky...however so am I to own both a 2017 Thruxton 1200 R and a 2020 Speed Triple 1050 RS. I totally agree with how smooth the Triumphs are to ride. You can use a front brake on gravel however it takes some Technical know how and practice which is best done on a dirt or light bike at first with your foot out MX style just in case.
