I just love it when you show beautiful little towns over in England Freddie. It’s just so nice. The more I look at that expensive Triumph, the more think it needs a little sport fairing. And then I think for that same price I could get a very nice fairly new Harley with a easy chair comfortable seat and big saddlebags. That just eats miles. But remember Freddie, whatever the cost of repairing the old Triumph is, it’s cheaper than both those options.
You definitely produce a nice chill vibe motorbike channel. The true relaxing, decompressive nature of a good ride in the country side on some of today's and yesterday's classics. I'm currently breaking in my new 22 Z 650 RS in Emerald Green. I absolutely love it. You definitely played a part in my decision to choose this bike. I've been riding off and on since my first bike at 16 years of age on my 1971 cb 175 in gold and white. The Z 650 RS is my first brand new bike, what a joy.
London is surrounded by beautiful, quaint, little English villages and towns that are postcard beautiful on a sunny day. I must visit some this summer. Great stuff as usual, looking forward to the Scotland trip.
You are a great presenter and almost certainly an artist. You capture and express the essence of how you see the world around beautifully. But you don’t do technical. The “top of the engine” is a called a cylinder head. I think the job being done is that a Heli-Coil (or similar) is being inserted into your cylinder head. This involves the damaged thread being drilled out to an appropriate size and the hole being tapped (ie. threaded). An insert is then threaded into the cylinder head and locked into position. The thread on the inside of the new insert matches your spark plug’s thread. Repair done. The cost of the Heli-Coil itself is pennies. The cost of the machinery thousands and the skill of the engineers, priceless. Removing the head was a good idea as it is almost impossible to prevent swarf from the drilling and tapping process from getting into the engine. Just so long as the guy rebuilding your bike doesn’t have bits left over at the end you’ll be alright. That was a great video and I’m glad you enjoyed the Thruxton.
You’re right Trevor- my technical/mechanical knowledge is child-like😆 This is a fascinating insight regarding the work required, because a lot of people have said that it is a theoretically very cheap job… but the expertise required that you’ve highlighted- to do the job properly- is why I’m glad a pro’s doing this job for me. Thank you Trevor
My husband watches this channel all the time & when I'm around I enjoy as well. Loved this as I have quite a few. The village sure is gorgeous. Orford. Dream dream.
I know you're a big Triumph fan Freddie, but have you considered having a look at the new range of Nortons? Good luck with the repair, hope it doesn't break the bank!
Hi Freddie, I owned one of the early 900 Truxtons and due to my disability I swapped out the top yoke and fitted flat bars. This is the so called 'sit up and beg' riding position and made the bike very comfortable. It was fitted out with panniers and a tank bag and made a superb continental tourer, I regretted selling it but due to my excessive consumptions I got too big for it.
Hey Freddy......lovely scenery. Two minutes from home, Mount Gambier, South Australia and you could be in identical loveliness!! Keith has a Mike Hailwood Ducati, Mille, Enfield, RD and others......Come visit!! Bring Monica. I have a Piaggio that she can borrow. I think that you'd be impressed!! Love your site!!
Really excited to see your Scotland videos. I have a great deal of affection for the country that adopted me and wife when we left italy and helped us build a life we would've never be able of dreaming of back home :D
Orford is lovely. Have a great bike night on some Thursday evenings over the summer months. My nana is also buried at the church near the waterfront. Great video as usual 🏍️
I’ve just last week heard about Orford bike night- this’ll be a seriously classy evening. What a place to be buried- really as beautiful a spot as you could imagine👌🏻
Hi Freddie, used to live in Sudbourne, down the road from Orford, brought back memories. I live in Sweden now, but yes Orford is a beautiful village, miss certain aspects of life from there.🏍😎🇸🇪
Great ride out and such lovely countryside. I think you've hit the nail on the head, the Truxton is very good at one thing, a beautiful bike but not something the majority of people can afford just to do that one thing. But that shows where Triumph are in the market, that they can afford to produce bikes for a minority audience.
Thanks for the video as always. By the way, most people refer to the top of the engine as the cylinder head. I hope it’s a quick and not too expensive fix.
I have a Trident 🔱 660 now & love the triple & upright riding position & leg position.Has enough power & Quick Shifter increases performance which makes it punch well above it's weight.A new Triumph 400 Scrambler would compliment it well as would a T100-120. I hope you have your Bonneville back soon.
Freddie, you need to come to the Southwest ie Bristol, Bath and the Cotswolds, Stroud and all in between. The roads are sublime. There are countless backroads and little unknown villages, little churches…. I went for a blast last night on my 11 in the Cotswolds, it was sublime (apart from the damn flies 😡).
Another great video Freddie. Can I recommend my village, Easton in Suffolk? Its also beautiful and has a brilliant pub!....20 minutes from Ipswich. Keep on inspiring us to get out and ride.
Not seen all your videos 😂 so sorry if these places are in your vlogs already but Lavenham market square, Long Melford, Peasonhall where peacocks roam in the village and lovely cafe, Kersey with the ford. Finchingfield in Essex of course where bikes collect daily. Shingle street, so many more ride out hotspots in Suffolk.
Freddie you really should come to Felixstowe for a coffee as it's only 25 mins from your flat . Felixstowe ferry is a beautiful place to drink a coffee and watch the sea .
Freddy, you probably get this all the time. You should come to the states and we ride from the Canadian border through Washington . Cut over to 101at Oregon.101 runs all the way to Baja Mexico .101 runs along the pacific, the giant redwood forest then San Francisco to Cabo then loop up to lapaz around up into
Ohh Freddie, it is a lovely summers day riding type of motorcycle, but without Monika on the back sitting in extreme comfort that it is not. Together you both are super cool & a team greater than anything or any one motorcycle. Keep up the great enthusiasm & appreciate your work & efforts in bringing a bit of British history in to our lives 🙌🤙
Yep, Freddie, fresh coffee and a French pastry. A great way to start a Sunday. Now off for a final polish, pack my kit on the bike and prepare for Wheels and Waves ferry booked, accommodation booked. Just hope the Speed Four and my old body are ready for this 1,200 mile round trip.
Hi Freddie what a great film I love the suffolk countryside and like you I don't know much of it I will therefore visit Orford as it looks idyllic.....thanks for another great film.....
Great video and love that neck of the woods. Chillesford has our favourite campsite for our small campervan. Love your vids as too many motorbike channels just show the rider; well riding; completely oblivious to where they are.
Lovely. Just back from a two up 80 mile potter with Mrs Smith on our chrome Classic 500 Enfield. The SW wilts countryside is soooo quiet, hardly a car onoatnof the roads we used
The bonny limped u home, faithful as ever. Whatever it costs gotta save it. Depending how you have accessed the service a machined head shouldn’t cost that much, fingers x’d for u. Add in low calibration torque wrench for future plug changes Fred.
Great looking bike, timeless classic. If you like a Suffolk village with beauty and history can I suggest Dunwich and the story of twelve churches washed away by the sea?
We're going to the UK in a few weeks on holiday from the US. I won't be getting a Thruxton but probably a T120. However, we will look for the Pump Street Bakery while we check out that area thanks to you!
Freddie, you went to lovely Orford but didn't go down to the quay! The river with all the boats on is absolutely picturesque, and you look across to the iconic Orford Ness. You could have done your round up piece there. At the weekend that's where all the motorbikes park. Also the castle is gorgeous. We live close to there, perhaps we'll bump into you one day.
and a nice end to a mini series on the thruxton, a truely gorgeous bike to look at, but I'm with you, it would have to be one of many bikes, not the only bike
At last we got Freddie & Monika to visit Orford after telling them for years to visit it. It really is one of the prettiest villages in the country. The castle & harbour are also worth visiting. There again, it’s the place where we visited on our honeymoon! I will overlook the fact we weren’t allowed admittance into a restaurant in the evening because I wasn’t wearing a tie (it was 1977!).
Fingers crossed the Bonnie makes it to Scotland. If you are looking for interesting rides around Glasgow and the west coast, give me a shout. A classic sports bike is such a niche, but super glad triumph still have this in their line up.
Hi Freddie, surprised you've not mentioned the Speedtwin 1200, same engine as the Thruxtonmore relaxed riding style superb handling more focused riders will upgrade suspension, that's personal choice such a perfect option to the Thruxton? keep it going with videos, a little more focus on servicing might be helpful👍
Lovely video, lovely location and what a stunner of a bike! I would also have one in my dream garage, but I’ll stick with my 1050 Speed Triple…much easier on my back! 😜
Hey freddie, lovely start to a sunday thanks. Its a pretty bike for sure and one of my mates has a 1200 thruxton rs(faired)and its a lovely fast but lazy bike. easy to ride but hard on the lower back and wrists.I prefer (for a blast out) my Z900RS which you correctly described as a thug in a suit. But of all my bikes ,my go to is my Triumph 1050 Sport. It does nearly everything so well. Fast ton up riding, any bends as fast as you like, comfort. easy two up riding. All with ease. Thanks for the video. class as usual.
I was having a very similar conversation last week Adam; what’s the bike one uses most? 90% of the time it’s the most comfortable option. I totally agree with you
Changed my lower clip-ons on Friday (Lings Triumph of Watton) to standard risers (and I have a fairing). Rode 4.5 hrs on curvy roads back to Richmond (South West London) no wrist pain at all, perfectly fine to amble about on the smaller back roads at low speeds and was still fine on the M4 (70 something) into Richmond. For luggage I switch out my single seat with cowl for the Triumph comfort (pillion) seat and simply strap Kriega bags on the back. So there is some versatility, all depends on what style and distance of riding (Unlike my old GSA 1200 I can carry luggage but not two weeks worth and a tent 😂). Edging closer to being the perfect all rounder for me now. 🙏🤓😎
Your videos are great, easy to watch. Maybe you have a connection to Triumph or Royal Enfield, buts let be honest you put a Norton Commando alongside a Thruxton and its like shopping in M&S or Tesco. It might have more BHP but it does not have the soul, character and looks, and thats why we buy bikes....
Bike vlogger and tourist guide…epic stuff Freddie…the camera work is spot on …you must have a fabulous film director sidekick ( well done Monika 😉👌)…..ps is that a White DMD helmet of some kind that you are donning?…got the gear run down but not the lid! 👍😎
Thank you so much for my Sunday ride through the English countryside, something l haven't done for a very long time. Stepping out early morning on my Lemans Guzzi in 78, swinging along the country roads of North Essex and Suffolk...l believe your analysis of the Thruxtons use is correct... A Second bike for Sunday mornings as its uncompromisingly in the Cafe Racer class.. As for the Triumph Street Triple 675. it is the in my opinion the bench mark of all three cylinder bikes within that genre.... but then l'm biased because l own a 2014 Striple 675R. Thanks again for the my ride. ...Motociclistas, el ultimo de los espiritus libres. Saludos de España
Well that made very pleasant viewing. I do understand your comment about stopping to look. In February I moved from St Albans, Hertfordshire, to a very picturesque part of Cambridgeshire. When I walk, or cycle, anywhere around here it also takes me 'twice as long to get there'; I don't think there is anywhere in the world that I'd rather be than in the English countryside. As for riding a motorcycle - I haven't ridden my Moto Guzzi V7ii for nearly two years because the roads around St Albans and surrounding areas have become too full of agressive, and impatient, (mainly) car drivers. The driving here is altogether more relaxed, so I'm thinking of trading the Guzzi in for a new Royal Enfield Classic 350 or, maybe, a used Bonneville. I'm almost seventy now, so Thruxtons etc are not for me these days. Good luck with your Bonneville, and I look forward to your adventures north of the border. I'm sure it will be fantastic. p.s. Don't forget 'Annette'. 😄
This is serious mileage and I can hand on heart imagine no better bike for it than the Classic 350- still my favourite bike I’ve ever ridden. One day I’ll own a Classic 350- I’m almost certain of this❤️🏍️
Everyone is talking about this summer NOW like it's virtually a wash out! They've already forgotten that as you say up until late June it was pretty good. There was even some concern it was a bit too dry coming after last year!
Great bike. Got one myself. Just did the 55k mile service on it this afternoon. Built like a tank. Near indestructible. Now about the "stealth," someone's got to tell me where today's bikers got the notion that making themself blend into the the pavement by painting everything black is a good idea. Y'all not have cars on the road? They claimed they never saw us as it was before we started painting everything in black or some drab military hue.
I love the idea of Thrruxton, it's a very beautiful retro styled bike with comfortable seating position and decent amount of power. However the one reason i dont think I'll ever buy one is the fake stuff on it, in particular the fake carbs, fake fuel cap and the tank strip. They just dont serve any purpose and at a close inspection look too plasticky (the fuel cap especially once you open the beautiful cover you see the cheap looking plastic cap) Thanks Freddie, a wonderful video as always 👍
The fake carbs do serve apurpose - two in fact. They're fuel injectors and they look like Amals, so in keeping with the tradition of the bike, like the rest of it, and the best of both worlds ie not Amals.
After riding 2023 Honda GB 350 ( it's called CB 350 H'ness in my country) The Athletic Metallic Blue color with its Cafe Racer kit looks awesome .... It was luv at first sight & bought the machine immediately after the test ride. The sound, smoothness & handling beats the RE 350s straight out. 😌 🙏
I think maybe the first gen Thruxton R was less extreme but I might be wrong. I think it was prettier. I had a demo ride on one in 2017 for 1/2 a day around Northamptonshire, Leicestershire and Rutland. It was also available with a pillion seat and could take panniers. I felt the red line for reving the engine was set far too low. Apparently Triumph does this for all it's retro 1200cc engines. The rev limiter removed and they can easily rev another 1000-1500 rpm with no ill affects. Maybe the Speed Twin is a better more comfortable alternative? Orford is a beautiful place. Orford Castle is a must visit.
So Freddie what is the cause of this issue is it a weakness in the threads or the metal or is it over thightened spark plugs why does it happen on some bikes and not others? and what a wonderfully quintisencual English place 😉👌👍
There's nothing better than the English countryside on a sunny day ❤
Very rare
I just love it when you show beautiful little towns over in England Freddie. It’s just so nice. The more I look at that expensive Triumph, the more think it needs a little sport fairing. But remember Freddie, whatever the cost of repairing the old Triumph is, it’s cheaper than both those options.
that’s what bikes are made for beside putting a big smile on your face !
greetings from Italy
Having my Sunday breakfast watching Freddie and Monica as a pre ride ritual. That's the life. 😌

Beautiful. And right on my doorstep.
Excellent Sunday start. Thank you.
Safe, happy travels 👍

Dream dream.
I know you're a big Triumph fan Freddie, but have you considered having a look at the new range of Nortons? Good luck with the repair, hope it doesn't break the bank!
On Wednesday I emailed Norton and asked to borrow a Commando. I’m just awaiting confirmation on if/when I can have the bike🙂
The Norton looks great also, but down on performance and up on price, and where is the back up ?
Hi Freddie, I owned one of the early 900 Truxtons and due to my disability I swapped out the top yoke and fitted flat bars. Your presentation continues to become increasingly characterful. Transforming into the Attenborough of motorcycling.
A perfect Sunday starts with a new Freddie video 😎
As a mechanic I used wurth time certs ..can be done in situe.
Another lovely video in our fantastic English countryside! 👍🏴
Really excited to see your Scotland videos. I have a great deal of affection for the country that adopted me and wife when we left italy and helped us build a life we would've never be able of dreaming of back home :D

I must say, I enjoyed the content, in particular your camera work.
I'm so glad I stumbled upon this channel when I did.
Excellent filmmaking. I almost forget I came here for the bikes.
Great praise for my Suffolk blessed to have been born her and ride these roads every summer weekend great content
Good luck with the repair Freddie, hope all aligns and you make it to Scotland
Feel very lucky to live in Suffolk, Orford often on my go to places. Love the old Street Triple. Cheers Freddie and Monica

Ah breakfast and Freddie, this is going to be a good day! Thank you.

@jeremybeltram5299 interesting. I only go out in daylight and dry for an hour or two about twice a week. There's so much to explore.
Thank you so much, for this blissful video ❤
Another great video Freddie. Can I recommend my village, Easton in Suffolk? Its also beautiful and has a brilliant pub!....20 minutes from Ipswich.

Very unusual castle behind the pub there too!!
Nice one - thanks Freddie and Monica
Great video and love that neck of the woods. Chillesford has our favourite campsite for our small campervan. Love your vids as too many motorbike channels just show the rider; well riding; completely oblivious to where they are.
Just rolled my out of its place in the man cave were it hibernates for the winter knocked off 103 miles its a pleasure to ride. 😊
Got myself a Thruxton 1200r today. Absolutely love it! Anyway, got home and tuned into this vid from Thailand. Cant wait to see you with the Rocket 3.
Lovely. Just back from a two up 80 mile potter with Mrs Smith on our chrome Classic 500 Enfield. The SW wilts countryside is soooo quiet, hardly a car onoatnof the roads we used

Excellent food there! No strings attached! 🙂
Just subscribe. Really appreciate, how you present your information.
nice countryside , nice coffee shop ,and a nice round up on how you felt about theThruxton . see you next time when the Bonneville returns .
The channel and the presentation flavor here is very very underestimated. Enjoying all content. Great work.
Lovely ride. Not far from where me dear mum grew up (with the grandparents) in Monks Eleigh.
Muz from oz
This bike is so good looking 👌🏻
Great looking bike, timeless classic. If you like a Suffolk village with beauty and history can I suggest Dunwich and the story of twelve churches washed away by the sea?
Beautiful Triumph, you can put on straight bars,
leaning forward slightly can put less weight on your lower back.
We're going to the UK in a few weeks on holiday from the US. I won't be getting a Thruxton but probably a T120. However, we will look for the Pump Street Bakery while we check out that area thanks to you!

that street triple colour is roulet green , lovely
Bloody gorgeous.
Stop singing the praises of Suffolk. I like it undiscovered
Great video, really enjoyed it! Orford looks like a lovely place. Hope you can sort the boneville before the Scotland trip
Thanks very much Dan🙌🏻 It’s starting to look quite unlikely the Bonneville will be fix Ed, so I’m looking at back up plans now🤔
@@FreddieDobbs so here’s a question then…if you could have any choice of bike as the “back up” what would it be? 😎👌
On the positive side - when the head is back on the Bonnie her valve clearances will have been done - so good for another 35k miles 🙈😂!
@@FreddieDobbs I think you should ask Triumph to loan you a Speed Twin.
Orford , a beautiful English village.

You should own this beauty

Bike vlogger and tourist guide…epic stuff Freddie…the camera work is spot on …you must have a fabulous film director sidekick ( well done Monika 😉👌)…..ps is that a White DMD helmet of some kind that you are donning?…got the gear run down but not the lid! 👍😎
Thanks Tommy!🙌🏻
You’re spot on- and I should’ve mentioned the helmet too- DMD Seventy Five helmet with the DMD Seventy Five visor
@@FreddieDobbs I thought for a minute that was Monika riding the Thruxton!
I feel the need to comment when you do a quintessential British film
Excellent excellent excellent
Thank you, sir🙂
A Guzzi Le Mans in the 70s whizzing around Suffolk and Essex- I have a glorious vision of this in my mind!
Sending my best over to España👋🇪🇸
@@FreddieDobbs So do l Freddie.... l have to visit RUclips to relive it now...
You are a class act
England in the summer time can't be beaten, and it's been a really great June so far and done 800 miles on my Classic 350 this month.
The key to not getting sore wrists at lower speeds, is to use your stomach muscles & legs for support...not your wrists.. Happy travels !!
Freddie, the Thruxton suits you so well!
They just dont serve any purpose and at a close inspection look too plasticky (the fuel cap especially once you open the beautiful cover you see the cheap looking plastic cap)
Thanks Freddie, a wonderful video as always 👍
Very interesting to hear another angle on this that I haven’t heard so far. Appreciate it🙂
The fake carbs do serve apurpose - two in fact. They're fuel injectors and they look like Amals, so in keeping with the tradition of the bike, like the rest of it, and the best of both worlds ie not Amals.
After riding 2023 Honda GB 350 ( it's called CB 350 H'ness in my country)
The Athletic Metallic Blue color with its Cafe Racer kit looks awesome .... It was luv at first sight & bought the machine immediately after the test ride. The sound, smoothness & handling beats the RE 350s straight out.
😌
🙏
