Freddie, reminds me of the time I took my Mrs for a week's adventure around northern Scotland. I had all the gear and remained nice and snug through all the rain. She had a lovely merlin leather jacket but it wasnt suited for the rain so threw her old rain coat over the top. Credit to Monika for keeping her spirits up in the miserable weather!
Hi , life can be hard at times , but you both trugged on in the winter weather . Great work and getting Monika some winter bike ware . Magic all the way , take care and ride safe .😉👍
Thanks Freddie and Monica for braving the weather to make this video. Thoroughly enjoyed watching and now I feel inspired to get my '96 TDM850 back on the road and to get out for a ride regardless of the winter weather! I look forward to the next video!
Greeting from Australia mate. Another great video Freddie and Monica! Even when your reviewing things, that I have no intention of buying, I just enjoy watching the videos you and Monica upload. 👍
What I love about your videos Freddie is the style, the music, Monica (natch) and your enthusiasm for everything, you are so lucky living in England, imagine living in New Zealand!
More and more pubs aren’t open at lunchtime anymore, obviously it costs money to open but there’s no money going into the till when the doors are locked. Perhaps the pubs in Woodbridge are doing a deal to keep the cafés full ?
A very interesting point that I discussed with Monika. The cafes were all overflowing and I’m certain the pubs would be packed if they did a lunch menu
Ohh Freddie! Poor Monika was so looking forward to a cosy warm fireplace & historic pub… busy at a the restaurant! Proper wet weather gear makes a world of difference ✅
A little winter glove tip Freddie. Don't leave your gloves in the panniers, if your gloves are dry then stuff them up your jumper or tuck them in your waist when you go inside. If your gloves are wet then sit on them. Cold hands in cold gloves soon became unpleasant!!
What a day🙏☝️ Blessed to have that kind of weather w/ your partner riding and bonding at the same time. Ride safe and God bless to both of you sir Freddie 🙏☝️
Wow, Woodbridge looks interesting. My ex Mother in law grew up in Woodbridge and loved it. She's 102 now! Yeah treat Monica to a motorcycle wardrobe...I'm glad you're keeping your Bonny. I've had an Interceptor and am going to get rid of it!
After riding for a week in Tenerife on an Easy Rider bike, I can confirm it is much more pleasurable than riding in the winter rain of England. Come on Freddie, that girl of yours deserves some class warm and dry motorcycle gear, money no object 😉 (My wife says it would make a great vid seeing her get kitted out) Talking of money no object. Wife and I were perusing the clothes in the Triumph Factory shop at Hinckley. I thought that sweatshirt of yours looked good when I saw it hanging there. £120.00!! Nice but not THAT nice. Keep up the great work with the channel 👍👍
Delighted you had a good time with Easy Rider!🏝 The Triumph Experience is FANTASTIC and Triumph gear is beautiful quality… but you’re right- it is not cheap. Appreciate it🙂🤜🏼🤛🏼
Loving it now you guys are back on home turf. My stomping ground. Raydon Airfield the other day, now Woodbridge. The Duke of York you passed on your way in used to be The Seal. My wife and my first date together over 21 years ago. I rode to Dunwich today to find the cafe closed, on to Southwold, everything rammed. So did the A1120 instead. I love winter riding too 👍.
I rarely ride in winter for one simple reason: i ride in the mountains. Even if it's a beautiful sunny 10 degree day, you can always find a patch of slippery wet and dirty road somewhere in the shade. If it's a mild winter, i may ride in february though.
Good idea to get Monica some proper riding gear. It could be a whole episode on her shopping for the right gear. Cheers and stay safe and warm. Dan ✌️🏍🇨🇦
@@FreddieDobbs Tomorrow's Saturday, that's a good day to do it! 😉 (Seriously, I cannot believe you drag Monika around without proper riding gear when you're so well turned out, watch this episode back for a start.. ..and start building Monika's road wardrobe fist thing.)
Happy New year. Bought management a heated waistcoat. Nit a motorcycle one. Less and £40 including the power pack. 3 heat levels. Game changer. She wears it cycling, walking, gardening everywhere in fact. Machine washable. Best investment for cold riding ever. Safe, happy travels 👍
Happy new year to you and Monica. I totally agree with you about riding in wet and cold conditions. So long as i'am warmish and dry, i love it. There's something comforting and cozy about it. I'am from the UK but now live in Australia so maybe that has something to do with it...reminds me of home👍👍
You could have done shopping on Ebay for some gear for winter and got her a jacket and pants. I do all mine on end of season gear. I just got two more summer jackets at a great price.
It might be worth googling the location in advance to check opening times & to make reservations to save disappointment. Keep Monica happy, she's a diamond.
Happy new year to Monica and you… please make more trips with the Bonnie trough England!!!!! Since over 25 years i wasn‘t in England….but i love the small villages an the countryside.
I use a top box that will take 2 helmets and also keeps them dry. Yes, an episode of Monica choosing her new gear would help women. Keep up the good work.
I think there's something nice about riding in the rain especially if it isn't cold and you have decent waterproof gear on. The only thing to watch for are the slippery roads. Glad the Bonnie is behaving, it's always nice to have a reliable bike, it definitely makes rides more enjoyable knowing you'll make it there and home. Great video, now go and buy poor Monika some proper gear 😁
Brave biker…even the poring rain doesn’t break your enthusiasm…and yes winter gear is essential to maintain your cool, style and dignity under harsh weather conditions. Those panniers look very well on the bike, what kind are they? Thanks
I used to spend alot of weekends in walderingfield in the summer when I was a teenager at a friend's beach hut. It's just down the road from Woodbridge. a beautiful sailing spot by on the river, you can just watch the world go by there.
Freddie - if you and Monika are coming down to the big smoke, give me a nod and I'll shout you both lunch at the Shed as a little thank you for all the entertainment you've given.
Loving your enthusiasm as ever Freddie but for me if it's raining - I avoid riding unless I'm already out or some other reason forces me. I do agree though that the right kit makes all the difference.....and I'm shocked a gent of your nature hasn't sorted Monika out with proper kit until now!! All joking apart loved the video as ever, even though it makes me wonder why you just don't stay in southern Europe all winter and give dear ol' blighty a miss until about April/May time.....all the best for 2023 mate!
Phew...I'm not alone!, I actually love riding in the 🌧 rain!. With good gear on it's fine..especially if your confident in your tyres and the bike. Anyone who has lived in the UK will totally relate to you walking along a wet and soggy street looking for a warm cafe!. Definitely good to get Monika kitted out...cheers, Steve
Once the rain starts and you're ensconced in waterproof gear, it's fine. Water just runs off. The not so fun part is donning all that gear before moving off or worse, by the side of the road.
Another chilled one. Love watching your content. Be great to see you cover the Urban Rider shop. Usually by my gear from them. Always great service and so helpful. Just received, from them, some Revit Baret gtx (base layer) gloves to help keep the pinkies warm. Keep these uploads coming. Awesome work you two 👏
My personal favourite segue in this vlog was Freddie referencing Danny’s KTM 1290 inspiring him to buy a helmet lock….Priceless 😂 Hope you’ve dried out now and a Happy new year to you both 👌
Excellent vlog once again both of you. English weather don't you just hate those cold rainy days? Well I do. Going back a good number of years when I'd finish work at 2.00 pm when I got home I'd open the garage door and warm up the X11, switch it off then go inside to get the biker gear on, I can honestly say that 50% of the time when I returned to the bike it had started to rain or it was imminent, now I ride spring/summer only and pick the best days to enjoy my 50 year old CB450 K5..
Brrrr…Thanks for taking a ride in the rain to a pub that was shut, so I didn’t have to! Haha! I was lucky enough to buy the last remaining size 11 pair of those TCX boots early last year. I really love them, unfortunately they’ve “updated” the design now, not for the better IMO.
Great video as usual Freddy, I felt cold and wet just watching! My Honda is in my garage on a trickle charger, up on paddock stands until April. Thanks for the great content.
Thanks Roger. Quite a few do exactly this (addict stand and trickle charger) and I’ve only just realised the point of the paddock stand is too prevent the wheels from squaring off
Another lovely video both, thanks. The thing I hate about rain riding is putting my helmet back on when my hair is wet. You really need to carry your helmet so the rain can’t get in. I have the same Hood K7 and they are warm but boy do they take some drying out when they’re soaked through. Look forward to your next posting. Happy new year. 😀
A wet helmet is very unpleasant, but I usually hate carrying my helmet around so much, it’s a sacrifice I (reluctantly) accept. Agreed re Hood Jeans!😆 Happy New Year🎉🎉
Nice video, poor Monica lol. A great place to ride in the rain is anywhere hilly, I love Snowdonia, the place comes alive, waterfalls onto the roads, beautiful high flowing rivers, even with the best kit you'll still get wet which is ok on a day out but no so great if you're not able to dry out before the next ride. Nice day out!
I have the same Racer gloves as you ,had them about 2 years now fantastic gloves but as you say below 5 - 6 degrees you do feel the cold biting, great vlog thanks for sharing 👍🏻
Hi Freddie. Can I ask... Monica's helmet has a rather nice visor held on by an elastic. I saw it in this video. Can you help me find this on line? I would like to buy one. Thanks for another relaxing video.
Of course Mark; it’s the DMD Seventy five helmet with the DMD Seventy five goggles (sold separately). The goggles are specifically made for the helmet, so fit perfectly🙂👌🏻
Just got the Merlin Minworth heated gloves. Pricey but style + warmth + protection = money. Of course, it’s been +60 F in the states this week so I haven’t really tested them.
Another great , inspirational outing, so many times I’ve been discouraged from venturing out on my bike because it’s raining. I have all the gear now so bring it on 🌧️ we do love on a damp island after all 😃
I had exactly the same Bonnie as you, still have a Triumph ( America) it occured to me that riding in all weather and all seasons you really would benefit from a screen on your bike, it doesn't have to be huge and ugly and they really do work in keeping the weather off your upper body, good luck and safe riding to you both.
I live in the Pacific Northwest of the U.S. and I too enjoy winter riding. I have some nice heated gear since I'm a wussy and almost 70. I'm good down to 25 degrees Fahrenheit or -4 Celsius. I find winter riding helps me smooth out my riding. I've only just discovered your channel in the last year so I've got some catching up to do. I like your style.
More interesting when you find those places compared to the more mass commercial Starbucks and co. Wishing Monica success in finding some long deserved clothing. Most of my kit‘s Spidi stuff from Italy and I‘m very happy with that.
@@FreddieDobbs I only discovered it thanks to you ! Woodbridge, Framlingham and Southwold is a 2 day trip I will be doing at the first glance of Spring !
I just use some waterproof overalls from Screwfix when riding in the rain, builders stuff tends to be quite tough and has reflective bits on it, not very fashionable but cheap and tough!
Bless you for sharing real life. Most want to project a perfect lifestyle where everything just happens perfectly That aside my days of all weather riding are behind me I'm a pure confirmed fairweather rider now Currently in Genoa about to embark to Marseille Loving life on the ocean waves 🚢
You are same as me. Triumph woes - battery wise. Had same problems, but thought more problems, starter motor, relay etc., and ended up changing battery on my 2017 900 Street Scrambler and have had no problems since. Only complaint is the crap quality of their spokes. Why not stainless steel as others.
Good film. You've got rain to rival North Wales. It's a shame I'm not a bit slimmer, I'd make you a deal to sell me some of the clothing freebies you're enjoying. I'm convinced you've got so many bike outfits stashed in your flat you and Monika must be sleeping on the balcony. Interesting point about the battery. Starter motors and alternators are rather similar - a big range in performance. I thought my beemer was a sluggish starter because that's what flat twins were like. But then the service & MOT mechanic - who is a beemer owner - said I'd got a "lazy starter". Somewhat sceptical, I told him to change it for the best one he could find. Amazing! It has absolutely transformed the bike. I use handlebar muffs and together with heated grips they make my choice of gloves irrelevant - I could wear summer ones and be fine. Prior to that I spent a fortune failing to find the warmest gloves in the world. I'm still in the same trap over jackets. Glad you've become a convert to boot-cut jeans - they shouldn't come in any other style.
You’ve opened my eyes to hand protection here, thank you for this! I did actually have a clear out of gear once or twice a year because I was taking up a selfish amount of space in the flat😆
Best way to test a battery is via load testing. Problem with a battery charger and the like is it only gives you info via voltage. But there are clues there too...12.3v is the end life of a battery.
Great video Freddie If you put some better quality shocks on the rear and springs in the folks and a pair of enduro tires it will transform the triumph and you could probably do it for under £1000
Granted I'm only riding a very small bike (suzuki van van) but I've had just as much if not more fun through winter than I did in the summer! Missed 3 days riding last year, 2 because of widespread ice and once because my front sprocket became a frag grenade at 50mph 😂
I LOVE the look of the Van Vans (although I’ve never actually ridden one). I love this attitude, and smaller cc bikes are often more fun than bigger bikes in the wet (I hope to find this out soon as my next test bike is a 125cc😀🤘🏼
@Freddie Dobbs way I looked at it. I got the bike dirt cheap, worst thing I could do to it is come off it (which I have, once) so it is perfect to just try anything and everything with. I'll certainly miss it when I step up to a big bike 😂
I really love winter riding especially here in the Philippines it's so hot that I couldn't wear my favorite winter jacket that i bought from a thrift shop. It's very seldom to see rain here but when it does, it's no longer a simple rain but a storm hahaha . Most of the time I'm just wearing motorcycle sweatshirt when riding 100km everyday from home to office. Anyway. Happy New Year, to you both.
Another great video which put a smile on my face. Ps I have recently retired from Cowells Arrow Bingo who's head office is in ipswich and I have fond memories of visiting the area over the years!
New gear for Monica? You're going soft in your old age, Freddie. 😁 Seriously though, it's perfectly feasible to ride all year round in England if you have the right gear, except if the roads are icy, of course. Look forward to seeing Monica's new kit.
Got caught up today on your videos. Just in time to watch the tight squeeze repast , looked like fun. The Adventure Bike sure was different. Glad Monika is getting some weather gear. All were enjoyable vids. We've got some free time here after the Holiday madness. Got our Health insurance requirements done today and now relaxing and laughing at the 12th oldest pub being closed. Just as well , good for another visit.
You two are great! I lived in Ipswich for 6 months and I know Woodbridge well, but not been for a long while so thank you for the reminder to visit friends there. I can SO relate to finding myself top to toe in Triumph - I wear the Bonneville cap just to have something without the word Triumph on! Do get to Sutton Hoo too as worth a visit. Have you been to the Butt and Oyster yet?!
If the battery starts to fail
Yes itl say charged but may only hold the charge for a short while , the battery will say . 4 AMP / HR on the side for instance
If say your lamp is 50watt and battery is 12v itl take 4 Amps from your battery
If it’s left on for an hour then the battery will keep it lit for an approx one hr
If it lasts for a few minutes then the lamp goes dead … battery gone
Battery life should last around 5 yrs

Going back a good number of years when I'd finish work at 2.00 pm when I got home I'd open the garage door and warm up the X11, switch it off then go inside to get the biker gear on, I can honestly say that 50% of the time when I returned to the bike it had started to rain or it was imminent, now I ride spring/summer only and pick the best days to enjoy my 50 year old CB450 K5..
I don’t blame you at all, and what an excellent couple of Hondas!🙂👌🏻
Hi Freddie hope to see Monica choosing her wet weather gear Your Bonneville will need a good wash down after this episode mate to keep the rust at bay
Loved the video, cheers Freddie 😃
Ooohhhh suits you sir Freddie top job as usual
Thank you Howard🙌🏻🙌🏻
Agreed re Hood Jeans!😆
Happy New Year🎉🎉
Nice video, poor Monica lol.
Life saver, just eating dinner and though come on Freddie a video or podcast please and here it is. Awesome 👏
Thanks Nick, and Bon apetit🙂👌🏻
@@FreddieDobbs thanks very much. I'll look into it. The helmet looks similar to my Shoei Ex Zero. Looking forward to the next video.
Love your vids and style 🍻
Good choice to hang on to the Bonnie.. and I'm not a Triumph owner :)
Thank you🙂🏍❤️
Just got the Merlin Minworth heated gloves. Pricey but style + warmth + protection = money. Of course, it’s been +60 F in the states this week so I haven’t really tested them.
Thanks Madcat- I’m checking these out now!
Another great , inspirational outing, so many times I’ve been discouraged from venturing out on my bike because it’s raining. I have all the gear now so bring it on 🌧️ we do love on a damp island after all 😃
Exactly that Lee- with the right gear, it’s genuinely fun! 😀🏍🤘🏼
Great episode Freddy and Monica 😂 Happy New Year and greetings from the Netherlands
Happy New Tear!👋🇳🇱
You polish your boots less than you polish your bike! Just kidding, I love the videos, which are by contrast, very polished 😀😀😀
This is very possibly true, although to be honest I polish both so little, it’s probably quite a close call!😆 Happy NY!🎉
Freddie, happy new year to you and Monika, put a lithium battery like I did when I bought the BMW 😃 everything gets better best regards from Germany
I will genuinely try a Lithium battery as my next one🙂
Happy New Year!🎉
Ok 👌 Freddie
More interesting when you find those places compared to the more mass commercial Starbucks and co.
Wishing Monica success in finding some long deserved clothing. Most of my kit‘s Spidi stuff from Italy and I‘m very happy with that.
Love Woodbridge Freddie ! I’d move there tomorrow myself! Honey and Harvey is a great shop too
It amazing- we only properly discovered Woodbridge last year and LOVE it!
Most want to project a perfect lifestyle where everything just happens perfectly
That aside my days of all weather riding are behind me I'm a pure confirmed fairweather rider now
Currently in Genoa about to embark to Marseille
Loving life on the ocean waves 🚢
Thanks Richard! Delighted to hear an update- so glad you’re enjoying it!🙂
You are same as me.
I'll ride year round here in the US. Everyday people at work say how crazy it is. But i say the same thing, proper gear and its not bad!
Best way to test a battery is via load testing. Problem with a battery charger and the like is it only gives you info via voltage. But there are clues there too...12.3v is the end life of a battery.
Great video Freddie
If you put some better quality shocks on the rear and springs in the folks and a pair of enduro tires it will transform the triumph and you could probably do it for under £1000
I am curious about this- I’ve been recommended TEC shocks by a few people🙂
Granted I'm only riding a very small bike (suzuki van van) but I've had just as much if not more fun through winter than I did in the summer!
I wasted days on an old battery that seemed to test ok but wasnt! Troubles? Always start at the battery I have learned! :)
Happy new year Freddie and Monica! With many joyful and safe miles on the Bonnie and the Fiat! You should definitely gear up Monica!
Don’t know if I can handle my spanking bike getting wet, I think I’ll wait for the spring.. great vid, the rain made it that much more relaxing.
I bet you’re counting down the days!🙂🤘🏼 I don’t blame you- after just 10 mins the bike looks disgusting😆
It really is another world out there🥵 I hope to be around that part of the world in March, and I cannot wait!🙂
Another great video which put a smile on my face. Ps I have recently retired from Cowells Arrow Bingo who's head office is in ipswich and I have fond memories of visiting the area over the years!
Be interesting what winter weather gear Monica gets, I hate being wet or cold
Great video Freddie
New gear for Monica? You're going soft in your old age, Freddie. 😁 Seriously though, it's perfectly feasible to ride all year round in England if you have the right gear, except if the roads are icy, of course. Look forward to seeing Monica's new kit.
Totally agree and a great thing about England- you genuinely can ride all year round😀🏍🤘🏼
I love how Freddie has owned one bike for all this time.
Your videos are really making me want to get into motorcycles never even thought of it before
