- The day finally came to do some jacket shopping for Monika, so we popped into Krazy Horse in Bury St Edmunds.
And I headed over to the Post Office to get an International Drivers Permit

Regarding women's gear, it's a nightmare. Not much choice in shops, so I often have to buy online without trying on. Retro look, Merlin is good. If you like short jackets, Oxford Holwell wet waxed cotton.
If you have a petite frame, go for European clothes, I like Ixon. If you are more generous frame or have wider shoulders go British or German. I haven't tried MotoGirl yet but they have some nice styles. Hope that helps.
Cmon Moto shops! Women's gear is a growing market and we will pay more to look good 😁
Fantastic tips, thank you Lily!🙂
Same issue with thinner and shorter men. Impossible to find a good helmet that actually fits!
Try French or Italian, maybe Spanish, Portugese. The latter do good helmets. Try to keep them on as long as you can and look down, up, side to side, bend right over. Be honest with yourself, they might look good but if they move about or hurt anywhere, it's not going to get better. You won't wear it. Good luck 😊
@@lilynorthover8378 I always recommend Arai helmets. They make multiple helmet shapes and are extremely comfortable. The higher end models have a unique micro adjustment in the pads where you can peel back layers for a customized fit.
@Eric S, you absolutely get what you pay for with helmets as far as comfort goes. I would say and it's my personal opinion, after your bike and training, the next most money you should spend is on your helmet. Having said that, I have an £80 open face helmet that I love but it doesn't have a sun visor.
It hasn’t just happened to the Post Office, sadly it has happened to the whole country.
True, that. The country’s basically being asset stripped. It’s FUBAR.
Perhaps falsley prosecuting hundreds of staff for 'dishonesty' caused by a faulty computer system put poeople off working for this privatised company? You are experiencing politics in action Freddie. - Sorry to mention the P word :-)
Better pay on state benefits.
Yup. We are living in the wreckage of a broken country. Nothing works, you can get nothing done.

Freddie we adore your history lessons. You’re a great story teller.
Thank you!🙌🏻🙌🏻
Truly.
Who doesn't adore Freddie's history lessons, yourself and Monika are a breath of fresh air. When you were showing the illuminated street light, which looks amazing, you could help notice the great location someone choose for a wheelie bin and an electrical cabinet. Keep up the great videos, and excellent editing as always Monika. I see you seem to be sticking to the iPhone for all your shots, which is great, did you learn the craft of editing as you went along or did you do a course? Bali and India sounds amazing, looking forward to seeing the video where you get fined for not having the correct licence :)
Thanks Stuart🙂
We do still just use an iPhone- we prefer the simplest setup possible👌🏻👌🏻
I remember buying Belstaff jackets for £25 ! I must be getting old ! Another brilliant video. All the best .
I remember leaning casually on an interior wall in my Belstaff and leaving marks on the wall afterwards. It wasn't my house! Waxed cotton also needs maintenance.
@@stevebolton8471 Yes they were a bit sticky and left black marks on the top of your jeans!
Bought my first Belstaff Waxed motorcycle back in 1961, cant remember the price, but under 10 quid, but do remember the waterproofing did not last very long.
That tee shirt was £40!!!!
Freddie Merlin are another brand worth looking at as an alternative to Belstaff. Their Outlast lined jackets are a gamechanger for temperature comfort and their safety is excellent.
Yes agree, British business, great quality and sensible prices.
It was great to FINALLY see the lovely and gracious Monika!
More rants please! Post Office, NHS, trains, airports… it’s all broken! Thank goodness the coffee shops are still open! Great vid guys.
Hi Freddie
I wear Macna as a winter jacket and have a Dainese mesh summer jacket...Monica looks a similar size to me
I did have to dial my rant back a bit😆 It’s incredible that a business has so few staff that they can no longer offer the service they are supposed to!🤬🤬 Something must change because it is ridiculous
Thanks Pauline🙂
@@FreddieDobbs women's clothing has gotten better but there is still nowhere near the options that men have. If Monica is interested in Macna, contact Factory Agencies in Somerset 🖖
Don’t ever stop the historical stuff. It’s fantastic.
Your videos are bike related and a bit of history and walk around an interesting town is good for the soul. Thank you.
I love the places you visit and the oh so positive vibe even when things don’t go to plan 👍🏻
You are doing great 🤠 I love your videos and vlogs lots of love ❤️ and respect
Really appreciate it🙂🤜🏼🤛🏼
Nice one you two, only Freddie can make a rant sound so relaxing 😎
Hope you find the jacket you want Monica and keep up the superb video work 👍
Very nice video. My wife and I lived in Bury St Edmunds for about a year-and-a-half in the 1990s, and your video of the town centre and the old abbey brought back nice memories. We always enjoyed walking around there. Cheers!
You're definitely right about layering for Monika; much better than a single warm item which can be a bit inflexible when conditions fluctuate. (This is England, after all.) BTW - The breakfast looked great!
Really glad you think so re layering- I’ll show this to Monika🙂
It was one of the best breakfasts I’ve had- seriously good👌🏻
Yes! Layering is the way.
Yes, definitely. A Barbour with armor is what I use. I get more use out of it than my dedicated bike jackets.
This is the way. My armor (padding, kevlar etc) is in the lightest motorcycle gear I own and on top of that I can just put on anything I want depending on the weather. Even just fashion leather.
The issue becomes... when the weather warms up and you remove a layer, where do you store it? Some sort of saddlebags/panniers are an absolute necessity on a motorcycle. The ability to carry hoodies and rain suits sure is nice.
Freddie your videos are just so relaxing to watch
What a lovely town, a nice sunny morning and an excellent photography work on this video.
Thank you for showing us this so nice views!
I hope you can find the proper gear for Monica and get your international license so you can travel on the open 😉✌️✌️
Hi guys. Essex bikers centre at Coggeshall carry an excellent stock of ladies gear. Hideout Leather at Ashdon have a good stock of Knox under armour and also offer a bespoke service on site. Both offer great level of personal service, really helpful without being too pushy. Oh and great content guys, keep up the good work
Great job… a little bit of local sight and history never hurts..🏍🍀👍
Great video, perhaps even more so because you kept it real - these frustrations happen to us all. If you're going to India, there are some great Royal Enfield tours up in Darjeeling (worth Googling for a full selection). P.S. Bury St Edmunds is rich in esoteric tradition as it is sited at the end of the St Michael alignment - it's worth reading 'The Sun and the Serpent' which explains its significance. Thanks again for an enjoyable watch...
Thank you for these tips and also for the Bury St Edmunds insight- I’m reading about this now😳
Happy that you plan on visiting my home country (India)! Excited to see your future endeavours here.
Another great video Freddie 👍 I share your pain re the Post Office…but it’s not just them, it’s pretty much everything in the UK now…the service you (don’t) get is off the scale. I think it’s down to companies cutting costs and a lack of new competition…in all sectors. Anyway, enough complaining 😂 great video and I hope Monika finds that jacket 🤞 stay safe 👍🇬🇧
It’s incredibly frustrating!!😡 Thank you Alan, have a great Sunday🙂
Great video. I’m a big fan of Merlin gear. Good luck with your search! Cheers 👍🇦🇺👍
Awesome video and awesome content can’t wait for the next video Thank’s Freddie and Monika
Excellent Freddie.
Sorry Monika couldn’t find a suitable jacket on this trip, but I’m sure the right one is out there waiting for her. On a positive note, it was very nice to finally meet Monika, sort of.😀. Cheers and better luck next time. Dan ✌️🏍🇨🇦
True love is going clothes shopping with your lady - well done Freddie, you're a better man than me 😂
About 30yrs ago or so Belstaff delved into the nylon/textile market.
I'm still wearing a brown tour/trail master from then, although not on the bike because of the lack of armour.
But the quality is amazing, I just need to replace one of the zips.
Which is just as well as the new ones are way beyond my price range.
Safe, happy travels 👍
Hey Freddie & Monika, Enjoying watching your travels, thanks! Give Goldtop a look, I bought my son one for Christmas and they do some really great jackets for women. They aren't cheap but the quality is amazing and you'll never to buy another. Good luck!
Sweet city centre! I'm a fan of Art Deco and Bauhaus in city architecture, that street lamp/sign post is beautiful.
Good luck for trip preparations, looking forward to your overseas adventures also.
I visited Bali a long time ago, back then still with a foldable paper license. Then got the tip from the bike rental to put a little cash into the licence, just in case. And yes, it was good advice. The officer who stopped me for some nonsense had a look into the licence, took the cash and let me off the hook with a generous gesture. Back then they did the same with locals, so it was not a tourist thing.
Very interesting- I think I’ll do similar!💷
I wanna remind you of something very important , even if both of you didn't find what you are looking for...it always would be a Nice journey with you guys...if talk about History, building, Motorcycle, whatever it was ..it always a very entertaining 👏...so don't hesitate, just speak out..we are happy with that....
So thank you Freddie, thank you Monica 👍🏻💯
Hey guys another excellent video! Really recommend Pando Moto’s under armour, excellent fitting, wears well.
I’ve just shown this to Monika and we may go and test some out today. Thank you Jared🙌🏻
Great video as always Freddie & Monika. As for riding in India/ Bali, the police will pull you over either way and I don't think an international permit will change that. We ended up just haggling with the police whenever we were pulled over. Usually a fiver would see them happy enough and we'd be on our way. Have a great trip anyway! Cheers, Michael.
Glad you like my Town. Bury St Edmunds is wonderful. Jacket wise look at Merlin.
Totally agree with Mike below, Merlin are a great product, My wife and I use them, lovely fit for my wife too, made in the Uk, Scotland I believe, and far better value than Belstaff !!
My favourite brand is Rev'It, Segura and Helsons have good looking gear as well. Good luck finding a jacket. Not an easy task 😃
I get days like that: most days tbh!
I sent a lens adapter back via Post Office and it’s gone missing so I’m £130 out of pocket.
Good luck with the jacket search! 👍🏼👍🏼
I always end up paying extra no because I’ve had similar issues with lost/stolen parcels😡
Thank you🙂
You are such a lovely couple keep filming and what ever you do stay posotive as you are !! no more to be said Not a wasted vid trustme !!
Completely agree about Bury St Edmunds Freddie.. I usually grab fish and chips and go sit in Abbey Gardens then ride to Finchingfield to the coffee and cake shop next to the green. Nice day out !
Good luck with the jacket hunt.
I like the style of Richa jackets.
Good old Bury! I lived and worked there (for the local newspaper) in the late 80's. My eldest was born in the local hospital too.
Morning guys
Great Sunday morning viewing as always, this time am watching it Gran Canaria
Good morning Malcolm! Oh wow- enjoy Gran Canaria😃🏝
I love the music you play in this video especially when you were in Bury St Edwards
So cool you guys can live the dream together!
Love your vids. Keep it up!!
Would enjoy watching you 2 take the rubbish out 😂
You have definitely put Bury StEd on my must visit list for 2023 👍
That's the most high-end bike shop i've ever seen! I don't believe we have anything like it here in the US. It might be best, if Monika is buying just one jacket for all seasons, to consider a mesh jacket with a well insulated liner. Cheers!
I have had the same problems looking for a perfect winter jacket. Now I just wear a tshirt, wool jumper and my RST leather jacket with the insert in. Never cold even as low as 2-3. My hands go well before anything else.
Try Hideout Leather at Saffron Walden. Nice ride too.
When I was in England this year I got a really good jacket from sports bike shop they allow you to order as many items as you wish and have them delivered to any of their stores where you can try them out without paying. The items are delivered usually within two days so it’s pretty quick
Hi , MAGIC PIECES OF ENGINEERING , how is Monika doing ? nill points today , better luck next time . Always fun to watch and the RAC use to do the International drivers licence .
Still no new jacket for Monika so it’ll be a trip to London for either under armour or somewhere with a big dedicated ladies selection.
I did not know this about the RAC- I wish they still did it!🙂
I completely understand your frustrations with the post office, here in the States the U.S. Postal Service has cut off passport services & shortage of staff during & after COVID, I've had many frustrating circumstances with packages not arriving when I needed them and paid extra shipping fees to have it expedited. Sad but the world we live in at the moment. A good meal always makes things better, good vibes mate 🤘
Not the best day for you and Monica but a very interesting on for me, I’ll be having a trip to Burry St Edmonds now in the spring. Crazy Horse look a great place to check out while I’m there too and that meal looked very nice too. As you said the weather was great for the time of year and apart for the useless Post Office don’t thin you had a bad day.
Great video Freddie.
Monica you rock ✨💖✨
Freddie please do elaborate on the history it’s fascinating 🙏💕
Thank you Emily🙂🙌🏻
Nice one Freddie and Monika....
I was a postman in South Australia and we delivered on a Honda CT110. We were issued with new wet weather gear every couple of years and for a few years, our wet weather gear was Bellstaff. I kept mine for private use and it was still waterproof 20 years later. When I looked at their website in 2022, I was shocked at their prices.
Bury St Edmunds has always been to me, one of those places that you wiz past on the way North, (My main home is in The English Lake District) or on the way back to the Debenham area where I have a small Farm.
It is full of very serious English history , so I am now determined to go there and enjoy some exploring!
I totally agree, and I’ve just been told about the Michael Alignment at Bury😳
he said he was going to sort her out with some gear during last weeks rain - our man dobbo is true to his word !!
Happy to know that you’re planning to visit India!
Nice film Freddie.. and a nice looking lunch....
Nice one Freddie ! 😃
Hi Freddie
Thanks a million for all reviews, especially those during your trips abroad
My best wishes for you, Monica and all your relatives for this New Year.
May all your wishes come true
Take care
Bruno MC, owner of a Royal Enfield 350 Classic, French Alps, France
Great video Freddie
Great video again, I’d have a look at the Merlin heritage range of clothing. I’ve just bought a Merlin Kurkbury jacket and really pleased with the quality, fit and price. Good luck!!!
Thank you David- we’ve just checked Merlin’s collection and really like it!
Why is there not more of beautiful intelligent Monika 🥰
Cambridge is much closer than London to you. There's a Hayward's Royal Enfield and Cambridge Motorcycles dealership there. You may want to check them out before heading to London. Best of luck to the both of you.
YES!! I’ve just googled this- this is what I need- what a selection🖤 Thank you sir🙂🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
It's worth a look at gold top at Bishop Stortford. I found the fit for me was good, and the quality 👌
yep Freddie as other viewer go to Motolegends. The experience and friendliness of staff are fantastic.Great choice. it's not a browsing shop but browse on line and they are great at knowing what fits everyones particular shape. Guildford good, excellent italian to eat in as well.
Freddie, check out the Knox Urbane Pro Mk3 (they do a womens specific version). It’s a great piece of kit that you can wear under a regular jacket. Perfect for the winter when you layer and also ideal for the summer. One thing covers all bases!
Just loved this!! Everything you guys do is entertaining. And yep...post offices...try New Zealand mate. They just shut them down. They used to be everywhere. Then somewhere...called Post shop I think. Then of course it should be taken over by private enterprise to save tax dollars. Which sounded great except everyting went up and we still ended up with no extra tax dollars....which is of course completely insane. Now we have Courierpost and NZ Post and I swear to god no New Zealander knows what the difference is or why a parcel will go to one place (because no signature) or the other. Rant over. Happy travels. India and Bali. Your views should go BALLISTIC!! Not because of the place...but because of your style and entertainment value. Good luck!!
It is quite comforting to hear it’s not just the UK with these problems. It is incredibly annoying😡
Thank you, I cannot wait😃🇮🇩🇮🇳
Apparently post offices become obselete
I got an international driving permit for India.. When ever I got pulled over and showed it, the police officers laughed and asked to see my 'real' driving license!
Ive never seen your videos before however Its like looking at an alternate reality version of myself and my wife here in America. I had this same rant about the Post Office in my area. My wife and I on the same day struggled to find here a moto jacket for the same reasons.
Well consider me a fan as Ive always been quite a big fan of myself its not a chore lol
Bikes, clothing, buildings, ruins, dogs, snacks and coffee all was amazing in this vlog,,, except closed post office
Love the content.
Monika .. spotting the flat tracker and keeping you honest (and last week refusing to get involved with your shock removal).
Great dynamic.
Have you tried the -her- version of your Triumph jacket?
Thanks Arnold🙂
We’re now considering this Triumph jacket- it’s in the final shortlist👌🏻
Hi Freddie, I would definitely recommend getting the international license before a trip to India. Police checks all over the place in Goa. Outside of Goa a lot of places won’t even let you rent a bike without one.
Thank you so much for the heads up🙌🏻
The Post Office in Helmsley North Yorkshire closed without warning several months ago and as yet no plans to reopen one. Try out Knox body armour it is really great Monika will love it. Keep up the good work.
This Post Office malarkey is seriously doing my head in now!
I recently attempted to renew my Passport. I initially went to The PO, gave up and completed the task online!
Have to say, online was quick, quite simple and amazingly successful!
One thing, selfies never seem to work online, so just bite the bullet and pay the absurd fee in a Photo Booth ! The online Code supplied with the Picture worked flawlessly!
In our country( home of Monika) renewing of passport is allowed only in migration centers, it takes one month, if you want faster it is costly
I think Monika might need two jackets (and possibly a light weight two-piece rain set ). One for warm and another for cooler conditions. And don’t forget a neck buff. Gloves? Try Goldtop.
My one and only trip on my bike to Bury, i also popped into Wrights for coffee and cake :) I've a Merlin jacket which is fine for winter, though a bit too heavy in summer, bought on ebay for only £40. Infinity look like they have a good stock of jackets, Segura and Bering have similar jackets to Belstaff classic style. They have several stores in East, probably nearest to you is Norwich or London
Hi Freddie
Two brands I am very impressed with are Merlin and DXR. Great value as well. In terms of under armour, I bought Knox and massively impressed with the quality of that. Pricey but excellent.
Regards
Den
Don' ever apologize for the History . Part of the charm of your videos
Motolegends near Guildford. Personal service . The Jermyn street of clothing and accessories. The chap in the cap will tailor alter if needed and properly fit helmets etc . Brilliant service. Massive selection of gear
Would heartily recommend Sports Bike Shop. Order a load of kit to the nearest shop then go and try it on knowing that they have a number of styles and sizes. Found my wife a pair of jeans that way, ordered about 10 pairs in and she found a pair she loved.
Always make it to a Thursday night biker evening at Bury St Edmunds in the summer, if money was no object those MV brutales would be my pick, slso like the Fantic Caballero they do, Cheers Freddie and Monica
Lovely smooth video camera work as usual, no horrid fast swings, just slow, stable moves - then looking at the detail, and hesitating a bit to take it in. Very slick work, and I guess some stabilisation is happening too. But it turns the videos into a work of art - Freddie is a bit quick with his movements but he is trying to cram a lot of info/detail in so I will forgive him!!
About women's clothing - we found Richa a very good fit for the generous woman, but was in their textile range, and that was all we needed - something that fitted, fashion was not a consideration so much, but it had to fit the womanly frame. Its nice to see the lovely Monika in the camera shot for a change, a lovely, patient and great partner for you Freddie - and she giggles at times too!! Good luck with the International DL, it may be cheaper in the long run to get it!!
Sunday morning video treat, thanks both.
Regarding not being able to get the service one would expect I blame it on this generation's attitude to working, many don't want to work as the benefits system is too generous, many don't work more than 16 hours for the same reason, too many at University studying for a degree in needle work etc, many think they can make a living as influencers on the Net and too many leech from the bank of mum and dad, this once great country is broken.
The Belstaff really suits Monika, but obviously no good if the fit isn't right. The MV Agustas are Italian design at its finest, although I love that Norton California. The Post Office has gone downhill since privatisation, now that shareholder profits are more important than customer service. The fact that hundreds of Post Office workers were bankrupted and some made homeless through false accusations of theft due to PO computer errors can't help with recruitment either. What a time to be alive!
Very interesting- I had forgotten about the false accusations scandal!😳
The Bike outside KH is a Zaeta. It's an Italian made bike with a 500cc 4 stroke single and CNC machined frame. It's amazingly light and fast as you might expect. The blue chopper is a Hogtech from Sweden. I know it s a bit of a trek but you might want to try Motolegends near Guildford. Sara who is the joint owner makes sure there are plenty of ladies motorcycling clothes in stock. Hope that helps.
I wouldn't be watching your vids if they were useless, oh maybe I would because it is a delight to watch the 2 of you. Everything catches my attention probably the missing the UK thing. Our post office reliability is going asunder as well. Get the bloody international license, considering corruption is not getting any less I think in tourist hot spots, from what I read. But then even authentic documentation could be ignored. Good luck Monika with the gear.
Urban Rider is an awesome shop! There sizing scale is spot on and differs from the manufacturers. It’s actually cheaper for me to order from them and ship tot he states then it is for me to orders here. Can’t recommend them enough.
Bike stop Stevenage old town, huge stock well worth going to.
That Belstaff looked good on her !
I thought so too, but Monika found the sizing didn’t quite work for her
Berik- Spidi - Rev‘it - Held - Black Cafe - Merlin - Shima + many more have motorcycle-clothing in women’s sizes, as does Rukka in the upper price range. All of these have their own websites.
Always good to be able to try them on before purchasing which seems to be getting rarer these days. Travelled miles to several places on separate days with the daughter before we found her some wearable kit.
Wish both of you happy hunting and lotsa 🍀 luck ;-)
Girl friend and I have Garibaldi Fox T jackets...classic style, proven wind and water proof with zip out thermal liner. + protection.. Cheers from New Zealand
Hi, you have to go to Lewis leather in London, they also do custom jacket and you can choose the leather
I know it’s a long shot from Ipswich, but you should really consider pay a visit to Motolegends in Guildford, definitely the best selection of biking gear (both male and female) in this part of the world. Bear in mind they are closed on Saturday but they are dedicated on finding the best gear for your needs!
Hi Freddie, you’re doing better than the Tourist Board for Bury St Edmunds! Krazy Horse is a wonderful dealer to visit, but the prices are also quite high. Not that they charge more for the same products, it’s just that Barbour and Belstaff are pricey. It’s probably because they’ve become fashionable, as well as functional. Anyway, I thought I’d point you in the direction of a really interesting little place - Blake House Craft Centre at Blake End (near Braintree). There’s some really interesting little craft shops, a bicycle shop, and Armadillo Customs, who I am sure will offer Monika the opportunity of some decent gear at a reasonable price. I’ve no connection to them, but have received excellent service. A very interesting place (they offer bikes and servicing also)
Thank you so much for this Dave, I’ve just saved these tips🙂
Welcome to Bury St. Edmunds😉
Another nice video F&M, thank you.
You mentioned Urban Rider? I just got a new helmet from them (admittedly via interwebs to the wilds of Yorkshire). Have to say I can't fault them in service or stock.
Good luck in your hunt.
Thank you Duncan, we’ve just used Urban Rider for the purchase🙂
@@FreddieDobbs nice one.
