I was shocked and so disheartened when I saw the news. This was my dream bike when I first started riding in 2012. I Just bought a brand new 2023 model in green/silver. This bike is fantastic. I commute with it and joy ride. Its exceptional for commuting as its so compact, you can split through traffic with confidence, especially since you are nearly always in optimal torque range. I've ridden my for hours before and never had any issues with comfort (I'm 36 years old too). This is such a horrible decision on Triumph's part. Thankfully I finally purchased one before end of production. And I feel I have the best colorway too. I also have the Triumph Bobber, which is actually the funnest bike I've ever rode before. Triumph Bonneville engines are superb, such a shame to end this model.

How is it a horrible decision. The stats show that its not a high volume selling bike. Its a lovely looking bike with a great engine but for most people it is really uncofortable after riding it for an hour and on top of that it is quite pricey. For most people this would be like a good 2nd or 3rd bike in the garage, one that you pop on out with to go to get some ice cream or a coffee run. But most people can only afford one bike these days so it just doesn't have a market. The Speed Twin has the same engine and I bet they will release a Speed Twin RS soon with more premium parts and maybe even more power.

I hear ya. Just the look of the Thruxton makes me want to ride. That said, I don't own one and would find it hard to fit into my riding lifestyle that mixes local and long distance. On the bright side for current owners, I imagine this will mean that the value for Thruxtons will increase.

Like you I bought a `23 model in green/silver earlier this year. Never before owned a bike that attracts attention like this one. Where ever I park up someone will come over and admire it and start chatting. Never had any comfort problems. In fact the more I ride the more I want to carry on riding. Such a shame they are stopping production but Triumph are in the business to make money so if a model does not sell I can understand why it would finish it. Just sorry it had to be the best looking and best sounding cafe racer on the market.

Test rode the chrome one today. Coming from an sv650 first bike, I wasn't sure what to expect. I guess I kinda hoped it would have a similar torquey sporty feeling. About five seconds into the ride I got a huge smile and started giggling. The way it rips you forward when you Crack the throttle, the sound emanating from the thing when you blip a downshift or roll up to a stop, the stunning looks and perfect proportions, the way it lets you flick it around while feeling like you have control, the massive brakes that come on predicably.... ❤
I still love my sv, but it's gonna get some well earned rest in April when my final edition order arrives.

Absolutely stunning bike. Been riding for over 20 years, I’m 39years old. I absolutely love the Look and the characteristics of this bike. Had the Thruxton900 for a while( wasn’t too impressed with its performance and braking but comfort was excellent for me) and then finally made the switch to the 1200R and was the best decision. It puts a smile on my face every time I go out for a ride and I STILL look back at it when I’m walking away from it.

I have the original 2016 Thruxton R release bike in its gloss ice silver metallic and lashing of aluminium and chrome finishes. That initial bike was the Thruxton at its finest. The colour schemes since then have looked a bit awkward and detracted from the pure beauty of the original. I wanted to buy a new one in 2019 but by then the ice silver gloss had become a mat finish which I hated so I bought a used 2016 one in the ice silver gloss which I love. Nearly went for the chrome edition for this year but again did not like all the blacked out aluminium casings / wheels etc.

I always thought the Thruxton needed a more hand-made kind of makeover, more custom-look parts, instead of just performance parts. That's the better place to put your money for a high-end retro. Look at the Norton Commando 961 (well, except for its crazy price tag).

Loved the Speed twin but felt it needed some mods to make it more edgy and have always enjoyed the ride on Ohlins so it steered me to the Thruxton. It’s really a 2nd or 3rd bike that you will only use for short runs or to take to shows. The price it sells for is most likely out of the range of most young people who have the back for long rides and the older dudes like me who have the cash don’t have the body for long rides.
Just my .02 which really means little.

I managed to find a nice one from 2016 that I could manage, however most younger people realize that we have the rest of our lives to buy something classy, so we need to get the sporty bug out of our system. So, I ended up with a 21' Street Triple R which manages a bit of both.

Agree on the practicality and price point but if I was buying again I would do the same a go with the Thruxton RS. Mine is a showcase model, only change I made was low risers to standard risers and now have a really comfortable ride.
Speed twin sit up and beg position just didn’t feel comfortable for my lower back. I’m 5’11. 🤓😎🙏

Beautiful to look at. The competition green is stunning. But as you rightly said it’s hard going on the arms. If I am to spend £15K on a retro (although I know it’ll be slightly inferior to the Trump) I would get the Norton 961 SP. It holds more prestige, has endless character and charm, and is NOT water-cooled!

LOVE that colour scheme. Having got a Speed Twin of my own I have to say I'd only trade it in for, say, a Speed Twin R...

That British Racing Green (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_racing_green) is such a beautiful colour, one of the iconic car colours. You could have a 2CV with that colour scheme and gold pinstripes and it would look awesome.

The upright riding position of the Speed Twin is simply easier to live with for long rides. Either put upright handlebars and a 2-person seat on the Thruxton or put the fancy suspension and other bits on the 1200 Speed Twin. The paint finish on the Thruxton looks way better than the Speed Twin. Cruise control and heated grips need to be standard for any sold in northern climates.

I own a2016 t120, couldn't ask for a better touring bike,1 never was fast, but the bonnie answers every call.igrt off it a lot less than my xt650, which speaks for its comfort.the bonnie is the perfect classic!

I wanted more comfort and opted for the T120. I don’t regret it, love the bike and I’m keeping it forever. That said, I do dream of having a thruxton as a 2nd, unpractical bike. It’s a piece of art. Too expensive though. Would be nice if maybe they made it part of the more affordable 900 series? I’d hate to have to get a Royal Borefield for that cafe bike.

It’s a fantastic bike, I did 19000km on it. However, I traded it in for a Bonneville T120 Gold Line. Main reason was riding position I’m also 65 years and a little stiff in my back…

Just snatched up a barely used 2016 Thruxton R. No clue if these awesome bikes are going to jump up in value and she is defintiley not going to be a garage-queen.
But, I learned my lesson with air-cooled Porsche 911s...if u can, pull the trigger when they're obtainable.

What a coincidence, i just happen to see one of these Thruxtons today oppo to my office in Bangalore, the driver took the vehicle out just to warm it up and then return back to its garage. Sad to see something as beautiful as this bike kept unridden like this.

I'm so sad, truly. I never had any love for bikes, but in 2020 I saw this bike in a random video, I fell for it then only, I decided I would find a job ASAP and collect money to buy it one day, I struggled for the job, finally I found one in Jan2024, I was busy since then in work and used to watch this bike videos whenever I used to get free time. It's a dream bike for me, I never had a bike. It's so disheartening to know that they are stopping the production. I feel so useless, I always dreamed of the day when I would take the delivery of my own first bike. This dream used to make me smile. I wish I was fast enough for this dream to make it true.

With a tankbag to lean on 300 to 400 mile days are easy enough. I would definitely buy used though as you can find basically new models with break in mileage for thousands less.

sad to see it go, sure that will be an appreciating classic down the road. i did a recent survey in the triumph forum and almost everyone said if you could buy the bonnervile t120 but with the HP engine from thruxton everyone would buy it ! people want the looks and comfortable position of the bonnie but with the extra poke of the thruxton! its the bike triumph should be making !

I've had the honour of riding the very first '04 model of a few occasions. While it mightn't have had all the bells and whistles of today's bike, it was still a very good motorcycle, especially following a much welcomed suspension upgrade. I'm not one to lean on handlebars, so I never complain about the weight on my wrists, but I haven't forgotten the weight on my lower back or the fact that my knees were bent at a rather unnatural angle.
The curse of this bike is that it's a young person's bike. That's not a bad thing, except it comes at a price point that is beyond many younger riders, financially sensible ones, at least. Therein lies the curse.
I've got a sneaking suspicion that we're going to see a Showa/Ohlins/big Brembo equipped Speed Twin or some sort of Bonneville take its place. A bike that old men (me!) can both ride and afford. And I've also got a sneaking suspicion that the Triumph catalogue will come with optional clubman/clip on bars and rear sets for those who want to make a cafe racer out of it.
This might be the last time we see a Triumph Thruxton, but it won't be the last time that we see a Triumph cafe racer.

Well, it's obviously not the end of the Bonneville lineup - it's just the Thruxton sub-model. I think the platform lends itself better to a standard seating position anyway, and the Scrambler where you can make it a bit more rough around the edges works too. I keep seeing people post images of customized Scramblers with fat offroad tires and accessories asking what it is, as well. Some people no doubt love a Thruxton, but it's just a smaller percentage.
