I have an Ibanez made ES-175 copy from 1975 or 76. It was branded Bradley for Veneman's Music in Virginia. It plays so nice and sounds beautiful! It is made like a late 60's Gibson ES-175. It had that very narrow neck like they did. I had the chance to compare mine side by side to a 1968 Gibson ES-175. Cosmetics, sound and feel were spot on with eachother. Even the steel braided wire and metal pointers for knobs were all there. If I was blindfolded I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference. The Japanese really hit it out of the park with these "lawsuit" guitars. You do have to make sure and get the set neck ones. I've had some of the cheap bolt on neck Les Paul copies. Not worth it. Their hollowbody Gibson copies and higher end Les Paul copies are so well made. I regularly played mine live all the time. I believe the guitarists of the Black Keys has a Lawsuit era Ibanez SG he uses. Great guitars!
I always enjoy your playing, and the many guitars you feature. I think the hybrid ebony-rosewood fretboard is very unique on the guitar too...haha...love the humor you slide into your demos. Beautiful guitar from the 70s. As they say, Talk atcha later!
Hi Rich. I just picked up a Ibanez Lawsuit Howard Roberts in a trade. It also has the low frets, which I'm not sure about, and I was planning to sell/trade it when I got it, but I kinda like it! A week later I also got an Eastman AR803 with factory Howard Roberts fine tuning tailpiece and split block inlays. I'm thinking that's a keeper for sure, but still primarily using the Turbocaster TJM that I built (the one you played at the Marin Guitar Show) for Swing stuff!
@@Guyhart I paid similiar money for a lesser model. the 2355. an es 175 clone. but it's a later 77 with the guild style head stock. changed tuners. still excellent condition.
I had one of these for several years , my favorite guitar bought it used with flight case for $500 in a music store in Fountain Valley California, sadly I moved to Houston someone broke in and stole it along with my ovation. Never able to replace or find another one.
I never thought the lawsuits had such a decent jazz tone. I played some very disappointing 70's Gibsons, more disappointing than the MIJ lawsuit. I think pickups and an overall good build are maybe more important than a carved top to get a good electric jazz tone. When I say good build, MIJ is good, by the way. They just don't do carved tops like custom independent archtop luthers so much.
I love the tones of all of your guitars and you are a great player and teacher. I've got a question. Where do you get the little washers that you use to lift the pick up rings and pick guards up off of the sound board? It makes the guitar sound like it's got " breath" and really helps with that woody sustain.
Rich have you ever played a Hondo Fat Boy guitar? It is an L5 inspired guitar. Similar to an Ibanez lawsuit guitar but not as nice. Hondo were not great guitars but with the Fat Boy they upped quality a bit. Still not as nice a Ibanez but still good. I bought a used one this year with intention of routing the pickup holes to fit P90s but I may not want to alter it and maybe put Dragonfire pickups in like you have. I paid $599.
I have this exact model. I'm willing to sell mine as I have way too many and don't play that much jazz. Mine is model 2455. Missing the pick guard but have the metal hardware for one. Mine has the strap button on the heel instead of the position on the one Rich showed. Original hard shell case Reply if you're interested.
I can't leave my cord jacks as simple round holes any more. I replace with on oval plate that has a slight curve to match the side. Makes the possibility of stressing and cracking the wood way less. My question on this is, would it sound better with a pair of Seth Lover pickups, or do you think what it has are as good?

Agreed

Hi, are you still interested in selling your Ibanez 2355?

What it has is fine. I'd leave it alone
Where do you market the guitars you sell? Is there a site? Thanks, Shally
At www.guitarcollege.net
@@RichSeversonGuitar thanks. Doesn’t look like any guitars actively for sale. Is it a random thing? Or do you announce when something is coming?
How much ?
That one is sold... but I have a Ibanez 2461 Johnny Smith for sale right now. Check it out on my site: www.guitarcollege.net/for-sale.html
Looks like the perfect gig guitar....leave the Gibson safe at home.
Ha! That's a great point, Freddy! Thanks for watching and Commenting!
