The disk brake bobbins trick really works. Don't use WD40, use brake cleaner. I do that once a year. It's amazing how much dust brake gets in there. After I clean them the improvement is noticeable.

We were taught the compass trick in science class in highschool (in the late 90s). And the air compressor/ bucket trick is also good for removing handle bar grips
My father taught me that trick for the handle bar grips when I was 10 years old and was building my first mountain bicycle. I always thought that was common knowledge, but I was wrong, since then I have taught a few people that trick. Very easy and simple and saves a lot of time.
For the syphon, put more of the tube inside the tank, plug the end with your finger, pull the excess tube out of the tank, doing it that way you can get a syphon going without extra tools and without sucking, Not that easy if there's a big height difference to overcome, but possible
In fact I can’t even get the pump type units to work in my freaking 2014 Lexus es350 OR in my 99 Camry solara. It’s like you just can’t get it down into the tank
I had front brake judder, used hack 6 to spin the bobbins (just used brake cleaner and not WD40) and sure enough, once I cleaned it up and the bobbins all moved freely, my brake judder disappeared. This fix was told to me by my mechanic to save me bringing it up to him, and saved me a lot of time and some cash.
the air compressor and gas tank is likely the most useful. However I'd like to suggest something a little different for you to test. Instead of blowing compressed air, try a second tube with you blowing on it instead of compressed air. IDK if it'll work but it's more useful and much less expensive than buying a vac if it does work.
#3 works with all vise grips by using a pair of pliers to turn the knurled bolt head if your vise grips don't have the adjuster with the hex/ Allen style adjuster.
For the chain lube I spray right under the drive sprocket. Put a towel under the chain, on the engine/ frame, aim for the inside chain right where it hits the drive sprocket, rotate wheel.
On old disk rotating the bobbins can make sense to unlock them. It gets useful if the breaking is producing vibrations. However using WD-40 near the break is, as you said "bad idea". Any fluid would work so just use disk cleaner😂
You can calculate that the pressure needed for the first hack is actually very small. If the top of the tube is X centimetres above the level of liquid, you need x/1000 bar of pressure to raise the liquid to that height. So for, e.g., 20cm, you need just 0.05 bar of pressure. Actually just about possible for a "standard" man, which can produce about 23cm H2O of overpressure.
I do a form of #4 every day. I'm a CNC machinist, and a couple of the 5-axis machines I run make impellers all day every day. Those impellers seal to the fixture and you can NOT pull them off no matter how hard you try. Prying isn't an option because it will scar the impeller as well as the fixture. What *does* separate the impellers from the fixture is some well-placed compressed air. Pops 'em right off. As for the vise grip bit, I've taken to clamping a smaller vise grip on the knurled adjuster bolt on the larger "main" vise grip.
For the first one all you need to do is stick a long hose in the tank, stick your thumb over the end, pull it out far enough to get the fuel in the hose lower than the fuel in the tank, and it will auto siphon, no pressure needed.
You don't need air compressor for syphoning the fuel. You can just create seal with your hands and blow in, we fill up boats from canisters like that all the time.
I dont uderstand all the people drinking gasoline all over internet. Step 1: get a longer hose Step 2: stick the hose in your tank Step 3: suck until the gas gets half the way to the floor Step 4: plug the end you were sucking on with your finger Step 5: shove the plugged end in a canister Step 6: after all is drained, pull the hose out of the tank and lift it bit by bit to drain all the gas out of it Step 7: ??? Step 8: you done Am I the only superhuman who never drinks gas here?
For the lube situation, you want an splashproof overspray tool. It attaches to the can and has like a little bucket so whatever you spray, the excess gets caught in the bucket. As for the wrench, if you really want to, just swap out the tightening bolt for a standard hex head bolt and use a spanner. However, they are NOT designed to be tightened that way... that adaption is meant for LOOSENING ONLY!
Re chain lubing: for years I've used Wurth Dry Chain Lube. It is hardly more viscous than water, and spraying it on the outside of the chain works fine. It dries very quickly, and as a result doesn't attract road dirt. When it comes to relubing, I just clean the chain with paper towels and paraffin. No need pfaffing around trying to lube from the inside. Re the disc: almost all road bikes have semi floating discs: the only one I've owned with full floaters was a Ducati 888 SP4 - you could rattle the discs with a finger.

milwaukee makes pairs of vice grips with an eyelet in the adjuster nut, so you can stick any long screwdriver or something else in there and turn it to tighten it. But more importantly, adjuster knobs on vice grips are just normally threaded bolts. you can take it out and swap in a hex-head bolt, or an allen head bolt, or whatever other head bolts are out there, and turn any pair into super gorilla grip pliers
Could the fuel siphon trick work by using a second hose and physically blowing IN to your tank to change the pressure? Or would that not be enough pressure created?
Pretty sure most people can do that, the problem is your entire face will smell like gasoline because when you take your face off that tank has a lot of pressurized vapor fumes... So technically yes (unless you have asthma), however, you might get less fuel on you if you just stop sucking when you see it get most of the way up a clear hose too.
10 - siphoning. It will work as you have the outlet of the hose a lot lower than the tank and putting compressed air into the tank displaces the petrol into the hose. You can actually do this by blowing into a second hose rather than using compressed air. Another method is to put the hose as far as possible into the tank then put your thump over the open end. Lowering the hose into a can will see it full of fuel which will then self siphon.
How do you like the LS2 brand of helmet? I will be in the market for a new lid next year and have seen them but have never heard anything about them, pro or con.
1. That chain needed lube a long time ago now it’s to late. 2. Not all disc bobbins are designed to rotate some have flats to prevent them from spinning.
I have a set of Milwaukee locking pliers, they tightening screw has a hole to tighten it by sticking a screwdriver though and using it a a handle to tighten it.
I only use chain grease, the lube never sticks for more then 300 km. The grease stay's on the chain longer and it comes with a convient brush to "dab" it on to the chain or better yet in between the links where you want it.
You can also do it with one hose... just immerse about 90% of the hose into the fuel tank then bend the hose and hold it then pull it out while making sure that the other end is still in the fuel tank... Then place a container at any level below the fuel tank, direct your hose into it and release the bend you made earlier... This works on the same principle as a syringe...
Simple thing to remember to guess compass directions is that the sun and moon rise on the ease and set on the west, so use the time and the location of them accordingly and u can kinda guess 8/10 times
5:20 Just use some string or wire, no need to cut the hanger. Also, it works better for one hand usage because it rolls when pulled up and resists when pulled down or to the side.
The proper way to spray chain lube is from the rear sprocket aim the tube towards the front sprocket. Never aim down towards the floor. The tube should be horizontal and riding on the chain. Spin the tire and spray towards the front sprocket. The lube will coat the entire link by the time the link reaches the front sprocket. I never get a drop on the floor.
With the fuel one, all you need to do is insert at least 3/4 of the pipe into the tank so it fills with fuel, then put your thumb over the end of the pipe and drop it down to bucket or fuel can level on the floor and release your thumb....simple and no air compressor needed
Easier on the gasoline hack...just put the hose into the tank, cover your gas tank opening as much as you can (rag is good), and then blow into the tank to build up pressure. When you have just take the tube and put it into your receiving tank. It will run...no problem.
For the fuel hack can't you create a seal and just clamp and unclamp the hose, speed could very results. If you want to beat the speed cameras spray or apply cooking oil on your plates. The flash from the camera will be reflected and make the plate unreadable. Different cooking sprays may vary. Also you may have to reapply every so often.
They sell a jiggling siphon hose that pretty does the clamping unclamping thing, it's got a ball valve and when you pull up it seals, and when you push down on the house it let's fuel in. Jiggle it a bit and your siphon is flowing. In short, yes that would work
The fuel siphon one is dumb, because the time when you need it most you're on the side of the road with no vacuum cleaner and no compressor. Besides, perfectly safe to tip back in, as the fuel filter will filter any crap. Probably more crap in the bulk tank at the BP station.
Push the hose as far into the tank as you can. Hold your thumb over the end. Pull it out to the receiving container. Remove your thumb. Way easier and more practical than that crap with the shop vac.
Friend of mine was lubing the chain on a dirt bike. To stop the oil from getting on the floor he grabbed a rag and held it around the chain. He instantly lost his thumb.
Use the rag then blow into the hose, you will feel the build up of pressure then quickly put the hose into the container. When you're on the road or trail all one needs is the hose.

If you don’t have a shop vac or air compressor if you use a second hose with that same method and blow into it you get the same result
Can't you just blow in the same hose?
No, you’re creating a pressure system where the pressure escapes through the first hose, without the second house you would just blow air bubbles into your gas tank
@@Motomonk420 if you had a seal, those air bubbles will collect above and create pressure.
@@emmettturner9452 No you are essentially blowing into a blocked hose and wouldn’t create any more pressure
@@Motomonk420 I’m not sure what’s going on. I can’t see/read your reply.
I thought you're supposed to save the best tip for last, not do it first lol.
you can syphon with just a tube as well, just put one end in, and start spinning the other end vast, it will start pulling
you can still use the closed end of a wrench on the vice grip even if it doesn't have a hex bolt
