Speaking as someone who married a Romanian (where the Dacia) comes from: The correct pronunciation of the Romanian car manufacturer Dacia is "DAH-chyah" (with a soft "ch" as in "cheese"). In Romanian: "Da" is pronounced like "da" in "dark." - "Cia" has a soft "ch" sound, blending smoothly into "yah." This pronunciation reflects the brand's Romanian heritage and differs from how it might be pronounced in English or other languages. Otherwise a great video! Thanks, guys! Good entertainment.
This is the difficulty with modern "AWD" systems. They tend to overheat and go into protection mode after a few seconds of hard struggling. Completely different than a vehicle with actual 4WD.
I would've been more interested in a stock Jimny + 4lo test. And one go with factory tyres, second go on proper offroad tyres but same kind on all cars.
The Jimny suffered from the damaged track the Dacia left, also the Jimny should have been in low range with traction control off for the hill climb. Should have been mentioned the Jimny has better articulation, approach, ramp over and departure angles too.
Every time I watch an off-road video from Britain ...im like do you guys not have off-road tires specifically like mud tires, not the ones you call Knobbly those are regular all-terrain four season tires, mud tires!
I wish Suzuki was still available in the US. Yes they imported bottom of the range cars in the past, but they were basic cars and lasted if taken care of. That twisted looked nice. I would buy one

The funny thing about your vampire blood comment: Dacia is a Romanian brand, where you'll also find Trasylvania, you know, where the legend puts Dracula's castle.
He doesn't know that you need to spin the tires to clear the mud or else the tires fill up and are basically slick smooth. The Dacia with K02s would've done all of them. Proper driving technique would've gone along way..
Ben, a Mercedes-Benz G-Klasse Geländewagen can easily handle all of that offroading--I've done it. Also, your unique ACV will as well--I found that interesting. Lastly, because I'm fluent in German, I found it funny that you threw in "Scheisse". ;)
A. G klass is almost three times the weight of the Jimny. Assuming they are on similar tires, ground pressure becomes the deciding factor. There's nothing in the Mercedes four wheel drive system that gives it an advantage over the Suzuki in this instance. I think a G would have done worse.
Sliding is not as fun in a semi. It's an absolute challenge for the best drivers. Especially backward down a hill. Do not lock up them front tires and do not pick up too much speed and keep that trailer straight. Makes for amazing vehicle control skills.
Those hovercrafts are so hard to control when you don't have experience. Turning is only responsive at full throttle which is the last thing you feel like doing to avoid an object.
..another James May Driving School attendee. You have to drive that vehicle,. Try putting your foot in it🦶 Lol, finally, I see you finally did. Huzzah!

You could also call it "Collins Quagmire"! I think we should add the comment;-"the treads filled with mud & the tyre became a slick" into the racing driver's book of excuses?! As the Dacia was stuck in the middle of the quagmire the other two runs had to go round it so does that count? The "Boggercraft" looked a bit of a handfull!

the hovercraft because it looks fun.

But we don't pronounce it 'Cit-rone' as in 'bone' like the Frogs, Brits say 'Cit-run'. So -acia in British is like in acacia or fascia.
I think the Jimny suffered from the damage that the Dacia did to the ground. Had it been first up the hill, it might have just made it.

They do say in the vid that given off road tires, Stig believes it would have managed to scale the hill. He's very impressed by it.
The Dacia would've made it up stage 1 if you dropped 5psi down on tyre pressure.
First thing is to use the proper tyres.

It's not much of a challenge if everything can do it.
The car lost momentum and he had to break to keep from sliding sideways or rolling over. Pretty common move for anyone familiar with hill climbing.
