Not sure what American cars you are driving. I am from MN and I do not have starting problems with the Ford or Chevy till the equivalent of -28 c or -19 f. I see those temp and if my car was outside all night I question if it will start and that is only if I have an older battery that is on the edge of needing replacement.
Matt wears his sweater year round while his kids have very little insulation built in.
@@feynthefallen you forgot when spitting becomes a dangerous projectile
I spent a lot of time driving 4WD's on snowy 4WD trails in the Rockies. The early winter season and late spring driving was the most treacherous because snow and ice are the slickest right around freezing (32° F.) . Getting vehicles unstuck and out on trails like this is actually easier when the temperatures are really cold and the snow is less slick. If it was was -10° F. or colder, this rescue would have been much easier. Easier, but not fun for the guys out in the cold doing the work. I've done it at -30° F. and lower ambient temperatures--you spend a lot of time in the truck warming up.
That box clipped to your visor is a radio…. 😂
@@jondilly1974 LOL.....they only keep one on the wrecker....
The correct tires for every situation makes a big difference.
As a Canadian ... your lack of preparedness for snow/cold weather gives me a lot of anxiety ! I'm sending toques and gloves for the entire MORR team ....
Living in this desert has its perks. Snow within 45 minute’s drive. And the ability to walk out of snow before dinner if everything fails.
Canada we love you.

Easy to weld up a set of offroad tire chains or modify a set of logging skidder chains to fit.
Would be awesome to see y'all build monstrous tire chains for the offroad wrecker.
You should turn the windshield wipers on and use the defroster on the wrecker..................or............................ohhhhhhhhhhhhh nvrmnd............
Rhett has become an indispensable personality in your cast of characters. I’m predicting girls’ hearts are melting all over the world watching and listening to this lovable guy.
It makes me feel better that Matt et al as comfortable in snow as I am in sand. I am cool with snow, sand, not so much. With love from British Columbia.
It would be nice for you to have a Q& A with your boys video
Matt needs to replace the wrecker's windshield wipers. Additionally, the windshield defroster needs to be replaced.
Wipers... that is exactly what I was thinking!
@@EmmaReeves-u4p they can't do that, are you nuts? They are too busy building other things that they don't finish fully.
Wipers are on the temporary broken list.

@@duramaxdad LOL, this is soooooo funny.....sad, but sooooooo funny.

I just love this family.. such great examples of good humans
Rhett deadpan delivery is increasingly funny.
The camera sees in the snow better than the eye can see. I was driving in a blizzard in Iowa. I could only see one paint stripe ahead of me. My phone camera could see 4 or five paint stripes ahead. The storm didn't look bad through the camera. Glad you got out safe.
18:02 LOL. Matt comes through again.
Good one on coolest brother and nice recovery 😊
Autosocks could be useful on a recovery like this on the RAM after the winching was complete . They seem like a goofy product and have limited lifespan, but we used some on our 2wd Promaster van to drive through the Colorado highways when traction laws were in effect. We drove past many stuck and abandoned cars and trucks.
The family dynamics are 👍 great. Brothers being brothers.. Always enjoy watching this channel.

Make a set of chains for the wrecker

The chain would be smaller than the knobs on them 54 inch tires

driving, 2-3 inches of snow, is more dangerous then 6-8 inches, the deeper snow, slide less.
Snow is fun until the plough on the highway blocks your road with a four foot bank of the stuff.
Kaulin! THANK YOU!! I've personally wanted to paint that frame Matte Black since it was built! Shoot! Powder coat it!
I actually enjoyed watching the wrecker struggle a little in the snow. I live on an island 800 miles from Anchorage Alaska, and the way trucks are set up here are so much different than yours in the desert. I am retiring soon, and I plan to spend a few years exploring Nevada, Utah, Arizona and New Mexico (that's how I found your channel; researching desert setups). Anyway, It's fun to watch you dominate in areas where I'd be scared, and then watch you nervous in areas that are better than my drive to work. I suppose it's all about what a person has experience with. Thank you for the video.
Matt’s gonna get frostbite
I find it amazing how cold tolerant Matt is! Everyone else are dressed like its freezing and Matt is in his usual short sleeve shirt! Must be a polar bear in his family tree!! LOL
Don't kid yourself, they live in the desert, he's just too "manly" to admit that he might need a coat. We'll see when he breaks down out there and has to sit in a cold azz truck waiting for help. Hopefully not but better to be prepared than risk the consequences.
I was thinking the same thing. They should have put mat in the back and let the kid drive 😆 dude seems impervious to cold. Not me I'm a little school girl below 50 degrees lol raised in PHX, Az we don't do well in cold.
I've often wondered what matt looks like with a coat on.
Wim Hof is smiling!
Kangaroo rats have big ears and little bodies to increase surface area and stay cool, aquatic mammals have large bodies and short appendages to minimize heat loss.
Matt is a large mammal, 6ft3 or so by my guesstimate, he’s not the Kangaroo rat in this comparison.😂
He also doesn’t have the Loop of Henley in his kidneys, that’s why we see him stealing sodas, but that’s a whole different discussion.
Rhett HILLARIOUS!!!! Lts go places LOL!!!!!
I see you guys go out on rescues like this and my 20 years in SAR tell me you are woefully unprepared for these situations. That's my way of saying NO way Jose..........stage #2 is preparing for conditions in case of ..........
@46rambo49 Common sense isn’t high up on the list here. Somewhere it's mixed in with radios, cold weather gear, ice scrapers, brushes, etc. though.
Yup, they gonna get stuck overnight some time and be in real trouble. Them again, they have gone into the desert without water before so it's not just cold weather stupidity.
@@marvindebot3264 so, you're saying it's a systemic flaw?
@@waynemccuen8213 he just has a "safety third" mindset. I know he's big on weight reduction and TBH a lot of the time they are only a short walk from the shop but I'd have a case of water and some MREs on those vehicles all the time. On a job like this one, you need to ensure you have enough gear to be safe, fed and warm overnight just in case.
@marvindebot3264 can't agree more. But, this kind if thinking doesn't go on in this arena.
6:10 "its a Dodge " well, you can forget about having good heat. 😂
8:49 these guys know, but for those who dont....the defroster actually runs your AC to help remove condensation on the windshield quicker. Until the vehicle is warm enough to produce heat, you are blowing AC on your windsheild. I just run the heat only until the engine is warmed up, then switch to defeost. The cab will warm up quicker. 👍
I'm getting cold just watching Matt in his short sleeve shirt. 🥶
Evidently he doesn't need a coat. But his kids do need gloves.
good to see your sons filling as camera men and drivers. we miss some of the old team, but the newer generation are filling in.
3:52 that’s very good Matt
Very aware of the surroundings…. I have tried and caught myself slacking when plowing snow and had a person who had run behind me as I was backing up, I didn’t see them until they were already passed behind me. I’m one to brag about watching my mirrors and backing trailers up but I dunno if I would have caught this one if I were driving the wrecker here
Blizzard conditions were awesome! And fix that damn windshield wiper Matt!
Great wet cold weather work.
"We got it" on the roof of the truck after getting it out was a nice touch. 14:00
17:09 y’all have radios why don’t you use them?? Makes things A LOT easier
Your boys have learned well. You can be so proud of them in whatever they do in life.
7:53 "Everything's cold." Except your dad. I swear, there's got to be some polar bear DNA in that guy.😁
Hey matt! so in those 4th gen rams to use 4wd better, put in park, activated 4wd lock then hold the traction control button till it says everything is off, it helps keep all 4 wheels spinning and helps get out easier
Oh thats cool cant belive i slide off a 2 track
The advice on here is extraordinary. However 😂 2 bags of gravel, snow shovel and a heavy ice picker rod could come in handy. If you don't use the gravel, could be weight added to a bed of a light truck being saved. I only mention as i do care for you dudes. Be safe and i know you will.
Canadian Blizzard conditions: Winds 25 mph and higher, visibility 0.62 of a mile, or less. Don't think there was enough wind, but truly a nasty time weather-wise on that mountain. A walk in a heavy snow, without any wind is actually quite pleasant.
Did not know Jefe was your cousin. As for Rhett’s cold hands I find it helpful to keep the core of your body extra warm allowing the body to circulate more blood to the extremities (feet and hands). Keeping the arms and legs warm also helps so you can use your hands when you need the dexterity of the fingers. Thanks for sharing
@6:00 come on guys, tell me I'm not the only one who sees the smiley face through the windscreen on the engine cover, never mind painting anything Matt ORR black.
Now that I've seen it, I simply cannot unsee it.
If I'm being honest, I'm just hoping for one of the lads to stick a pair of googly eyes on the top of those shock towers.
I don't suppose fitting a decent crew perch on the back of the big wrecker, with some weather protection and decent cold insulated hand holds, is completely out of the question?
Just wondering. 😉👍
Oh. It’s the season for snow shenanigans.
I just had a perfectly cromulent idea! Build a little two-seater cage with seat belts and put it IN THE FRONT tow hitch of the wrecker! Maybe give it a cantilever in case it needs to be "lifted out of the way" on tight trails. Heck, on jobs like this one, that's your spotter spot. Add in a fan or something from the exhaust to redirect the heat INTO the tubes for "heated seats".
Kaulin @12:40 had me laughing out loud to myself, Rhett usually makes me crack a smile but it’s pretty tough to get a laugh outta me from a video. Touché boys, touché.
Good morning everybody and Happy Friday!!
Some large log skidder chains would be cool on the wrecker.
Well, Kaulin, at least you didn't lose out to Carter, lol.
FYI here in Oregon east side let some air out of the tires on the Ram probably could have drove it out of there ,am old school I Drove 65 miles one way away icy snow pack freeway siped tires low air
I wondered if the same would work on the wrecker.
Rhett was pretty quick on the trigger with his “coolest brother” response. 😁
Grab a snowboard or skis and attach a handle to the boom winch line. Fun all the way to the job.
No gloves. No brush. No windshield scraper. And no chains for the wrecker. Matt, you need to do some updates on the winter gear selection for the fleet.
The wrecker doesn't need chains.
@johnlee8523 like in the same way they don't need radios, snow brushes, scrapers, cold weather gear and etc. you're saying?
They live/work in the desert. This is just for fun/entertainment.
Canadian here too. Smooth knoby tires are really bad in snow. Chains are the only deep snow solution, other than taking the Bombi. Packed snow has a tendency to produce the next thing to ice, which is slippery. It's sad that the crew never take the things needed when they go up into the mountains when in snow season.
I have a long handle brush to clear snow off the car, and it doesn't snow here much. You'd think there was room for one on the back of the wrecker and the Bombi.
Nice job! It's always tough in that shallow-ish slick snow. ❄️ 🏔
I miss snow wheelin with my dad.
He took me wheelin on Fordyce many times.
Concerned about Kaulins legs not working well in the cold. Does he need more work doing? More exercise like weight training or cardio? Or will he need to wear warmer clothes when it's like that. There's battery powered heated clothes out there, (I used to make my own for motorcycling!). l don't know if they make leggings. Best wishes to MORR and all their fans.
Isn't it "Subaru, let's go places." ?
"Dodge, I wish I could go places." 😂
That’s Toyota’s slogan.
@@bfree247365It’s now Toyota trucks, I wish I could go places.

Climate extremes out there in the high desert is brutal
As someone from the frosty north sticky smow really does suck to drive on. Your own vehicle packs the snow into ice as soon as you drive on it. Definate challenge when you don't drive on slippery roads for 4 or 5 monts out of the year. All that to say you guys made it look super easy, barely an inconvenience.🙂
