The crazy experimental sounds in the beginning of closure are a subtle nod to the experimental sounds in Kanye’s own producing!! I think he sent her a letter apologizing to her and asking her to help him get his masters back too (he tweeted her a while ago about that!)
Bonnie: If they ever break up, how is she gonna write a breakup song about him? Me: *stares at you're losing me* ... yeah, I think she's got it covered
So track 7 on folklore was seven, and it started with the line "Please picture me in the trees", and track 7 on evermore is happiness, which starts with the line "When I'm above the trees"
and the fact that both songs focus on the past and how taylor felt in the past and how now she's 'above' all the stuff she went through - i can'ttttttt her mind is too much
the saddest thing about tolerate it is that she talks about leaving in the bridge, but it goes immediately back to the beginning, suggesting that she never left, cause it's a cycle.

My thought is to give some of the RUclipsrs a secret session type access to a new song or whatever so they can post their reactions when the song comes out. And maybe even do an interview with them because I feel like they’d ask better questions than most daily talk show hosts do!
"When did your winning smile begin to look like a smirk" Haven't seen this interpreted this way yet but this is how i understand it -- you know how when you fall out of love, you begin to hate things you used to love in a person? Like, little quirks you used to find cute or adorable starts to irritate you. Nothing really changed, it's still the same smile, but you just started seeing it differently because you're feeling differently.
I also feel like it's self awareness and she's calling herself out, like how sometimes we take things in a negative light even when it's nothing personal
taylor said that happiness is actually about a friend of hers that had a long relationship and didn’t know who to be after the end of it. she said she could relate to her friends feelings, so she wrote the song.
Also she said in an interview that "my tears ricochet" was the first song she wrote for folklore...so the fact that she wrote happiness last week really shows how much this era has helped her process her feelings about scott/big machine 😭
@@antigonem108 technically no, scooters real name is actually scott but when people say scott they're normally talking about scott borchetta, who was the original owner of big machine and managed taylors label for years. He was like family to her but he's also the one who went behind her back and sold her music to scooter 😬
this is obviously late but if anyone sees this: i have never seen anyone mention this before but the beginning of Gold Rush is layered harmonies to sound enchanting and ethereal and the lyrics are about sinking ships but staring into the most beautiful eyes and not caring whats going on around you (and leading to death) which is alluding to mythological sirens who lured sailors to rough waters with their beauty and angelic voices and the sailors would die… she’s saying Joe is a siren luring her into “death” with his beauty and kind words of love for her and then it cuts to her saying “I don’t want a gold rush” so she’s talking herself out of it but then the end is the angelic part again meaning he lured her and she’s sinking.
You've just described the reason why I see parallel between gold rush and Labyrinth from Midnights. This unsure start of a relationship, trying to get yourself to trust it when everything in you is telling you in every low you hit the security will disappear in an instant. How scary it is to let yourself fall. "I hate that falling feels like flying til the bone crush"/ "you know how much I hate elevator never trusted if it rises fast , it can't last"
Watching this in 2024 and hearing you say “oh this can’t be about joe!” to all of the sad songs she written….it just hits different now as we are in TTPD era💔
I knew he helped with the piano before reading the credits. He has a very specific instrumental and piano melody he loves to follow. That just works so well.
Its the: screeching, arm flailing, aggressive blinking and hand waving - for me LOL you girls are too funny and the literal embodiment of every Swiftie ever!!!
I read that champagne problem was about a woman suffering from mental health problems who turns down her fiancé’s proposal because she’s broken and all about how everybody in the town stigmatizes her mental health and blames it on “champagne problems” and honestly it broke my heart and hit so different
That song is heartbreaking on so many levels, because you feel so bad for both people. So many songs try to villainize the other party in a relationship, but Taylor is so good at writing relationships where both people got hurt, and no one was to blame or at fault.
WHY HAVE I NEVER WATCHED A SWIFTIE REACTION EVER BEFORE!? THIS IS FUCKING ACCURATE ALL THIS SCREAMING AND CRYING AND BREAKDOWNS! YOU GIRLS ARE MY NEW FAVORITES! THIS IS IN ALL CAPS BECAUSE YOU WERE TOTALLY OFFENSIVE FOR 1 HR FCKIN 42 MINUTES I FELT LIKE I WATCHED A WHOLE ASS FILM HAHAHA I CANNOT
I’m so appreciate you guys analyze every. Single. Lyrics, every bits of them. This is helpful for someone like me that English is not my first language, not only to know more about the meaning of the lyrics, meanwhile showing how mastermind Taylor is.
the exact same reason why i love reacting to people that analyze the lyrics, even the most simple ones! i take things too literal so it also helps a lot !
marjorie is so witty and meaningful like 'never be so kind you forget to be clever, never be so clever you forget to be kind' and 'never be so polite you forget your power, never wield such power you forget to be polite' such beautiful reminders
Yesssss!!!!!!!!!!! I was also thinking illicit affairs could be about prince Charles too!! The part she sings about meeting in parking lots makes me think his scenes in the crown
Ugh watching this months later and your reactions just make me emotional. She’s so powerful and how lucky you guys are to have a group of swifties to listen with. I have no friends that love her like I do
You guys are so new to reaction videos yet you have the perfect setup. Beautiful background, great conversation, someone in the background with lyrics at the ready. Top notch
Only 16 minutes in but just wanna say the fact that Taylor spent years being criticized for writing breakup songs and now her and joe write them together just always gets me 😂😍 I love this albummmm !!!
I wonder if Champagne problems relates to “Hoax” when the lyric says “I couldn’t give a reason” in hoax it’s “stood on the cliff side screaming give me a reason” I wonder if Taylor is the one screaming or one of her lovers wanting a reason from her
Your theory about Willow being Joe’s nickname gets more meaning if you note that the first song of evermore is Willow and in folklore is The 1. Willow, the 1.
I think "closure" is about how she describes her relationship with borchetta and the big machine. The chaotic beats from the back reminds me of devastated "machines"...
I read recently if you listen to it more it sounds like the big machine sounds are trying to take over the song... like talk over/distract from Taylor’s singing... like they are trying to take over the narrative
This is BY far one of the most chaotic yet absolutely(almost scarily) planned reaction ever. I mean… the whole set up, from the aesthetics to the person off screen reading what meaning of the song and the lyrics makes this so not 2 dimensional like so many reactions are. It takes the cold “1 person and 1 camera” vibe and make it warm and fuzzy and entertaining. Excellent niche you gals have found. Wishing you TONS of success!
“I feel like just in general, throughout folklore and this whole album she always manages to take something sad but also add happiness, it’s complex, nothing is like a sad song or a happy song, it has a range of emotions in it that make you feel so many different things, that just take you on that ride of what it’s really like to be in that situation”. GIRL YESSSS
In "Long Story Short" she says "I always felt I must look better in the rearview, missing me...". That totally ties in with the lyrics in "Wildest Dreams" where she wrote "say you'll remember me, standing in a nice dress, staring at the sunset, babe. Red lips and rosy cheeks. Say you'll see me again...". She always felt like her actual value/beauty of character couldn't be realized by a partner until they were looking back on the relationship.
Your reactions make me appreciate these songs so much more, and have a deeper understanding. I always come back to your Folklore and Evermore reactions.
The "random" noises in Closure represent all the discord and messiness that happened in the relationship, but with the piano comes in, it covers it up somewhat, showing her music helped her defend herself from the trash.
Yea. I think it's kind of like the piano and the words of the song represent how she thinks about it, she can see things clearly and she knows what's good for her, but the crazy sounds represent the emotion in it, and just because she understand don't mean her emotions don't get to her sometimes.
On Marjorie- “Never be so polite, you forget your power” - reminds me of the sexual assault where her mom testified that she was sorry she taught her to be so polite (she thanked the DJ and his plus one for coming to the meet and greet after he assaulted her).
I actually think Ivy is about the relationship between Emily Dickinson and Sue Gilbert Dickinson (her best friend, lover, and unfortunately her sister-in-law) and since the song mentions the fear of the husband finding out fits into it. In fact, one of Emily's poems that is believed to be about Sue ends with the word "forevermore". Also Taylor announced evermore on December 10th which is Emily Dickinson's birthday. I just feel like there are too many comparisons for it to be a coincidence!
My grandmother is still alive and I'm so blessed by that. She's 84 and hanging in there but it's been bumpy. She also sings opera and that song is going to hit so hard one day I'm scared of it.
Dorothea feels lighthearted, but knowing it was the other perspective for tis the damn season is just...... i haven't seen anyone address it yet, but it feels like dorothea would've stayed if the guy just had the balls to tell her so. He thinks "it's ok to watch you from afar" while dorothea was waiting for him to fight for her. The lyric "remember how you watched me leave / but if it's ok with you, it's ok with me" always hit me hard. That's why i feel like Dorothea is such an underrated song, ppl always find it sweet but it hurts mannn hahahahah
yessss dorothea is like a “i’ll watch you achieve your dreams because i love you. i wish you were here with me tho” and tis’ the damn season is like a “i want to be with you but is that what you want all the time” and i haven’t heard anyone feel the same way

oh but please invite a small selection of your (especially Aussie) Patrons!
My thought is to give some of the RUclipsrs a secret session type access to a new song or whatever so they can post their reactions when the song comes out. And maybe even do an interview with them because I feel like they’d ask better questions than most daily talk show hosts do!
Please!!!!!!
"that was an offensive guitar" "that's such an offensive bridge" "that lyric is so illegal"
LMAFOIOSJD I DIED EACH TIME
"When did your winning smile begin to look like a smirk" Haven't seen this interpreted this way yet but this is how i understand it -- you know how when you fall out of love, you begin to hate things you used to love in a person? Like, little quirks you used to find cute or adorable starts to irritate you. Nothing really changed, it's still the same smile, but you just started seeing it differently because you're feeling differently.
oooh, good catch!
damn
Yeah and a winning smile is genuine and a smirk can be seen more as dishonest
I also feel like it's self awareness and she's calling herself out, like how sometimes we take things in a negative light even when it's nothing personal
this is actually so clever!
taylor said that happiness is actually about a friend of hers that had a long relationship and didn’t know who to be after the end of it. she said she could relate to her friends feelings, so she wrote the song.
Abigail divorce....
happiness also has so many Great Gatsby references "beautiful fool' "green light"?!
Selena ?
@@aragorn4242 it’s about divorce so most likely Abigail
@@Plainejan She just keeps airing out Abigail’s trauma, first fifteen and now this 😭
Also she said in an interview that "my tears ricochet" was the first song she wrote for folklore...so the fact that she wrote happiness last week really shows how much this era has helped her process her feelings about scott/big machine 😭
is scott, scooter? im confused
@@antigonem108 technically no, scooters real name is actually scott but when people say scott they're normally talking about scott borchetta, who was the original owner of big machine and managed taylors label for years. He was like family to her but he's also the one who went behind her back and sold her music to scooter 😬
i love how we slowly watch night fall
Same!
this is obviously late but if anyone sees this: i have never seen anyone mention this before but the beginning of Gold Rush is layered harmonies to sound enchanting and ethereal and the lyrics are about sinking ships but staring into the most beautiful eyes and not caring whats going on around you (and leading to death) which is alluding to mythological sirens who lured sailors to rough waters with their beauty and angelic voices and the sailors would die… she’s saying Joe is a siren luring her into “death” with his beauty and kind words of love for her and then it cuts to her saying “I don’t want a gold rush” so she’s talking herself out of it but then the end is the angelic part again meaning he lured her and she’s sinking.
holy shit that's genius!!!
Oh my god YES!! YOU ARE A MASTERMIND!
You've just described the reason why I see parallel between gold rush and Labyrinth from Midnights. This unsure start of a relationship, trying to get yourself to trust it when everything in you is telling you in every low you hit the security will disappear in an instant. How scary it is to let yourself fall. "I hate that falling feels like flying til the bone crush"/ "you know how much I hate elevator never trusted if it rises fast , it can't last"
This is obviously even LATER. 😂😂 But omg I never knew this!! Just wanted to let you know that you just blew my mind.
i'm 13 minutes in and i already know the word of the video is "offensive" opposed to folklore's "illegal".

woahhh
That song is heartbreaking on so many levels, because you feel so bad for both people. So many songs try to villainize the other party in a relationship, but Taylor is so good at writing relationships where both people got hurt, and no one was to blame or at fault.
please check my channel, I posted a cover of myself singing Champagne Problems

I’m so appreciate you guys analyze every. Single. Lyrics, every bits of them. This is helpful for someone like me that English is not my first language, not only to know more about the meaning of the lyrics, meanwhile showing how mastermind Taylor is.
the exact same reason why i love reacting to people that analyze the lyrics, even the most simple ones! i take things too literal so it also helps a lot !
this aged very well. you’re a mastermind

Tolerate it gives me “The Crown-Diana and Charles” vibes :/
YES OMG
There was an article written that tolerate it is an ode to Diana's relationship with Charles and the cheating
Yesssss!!!!!!!!!!! I was also thinking illicit affairs could be about prince Charles too!! The part she sings about meeting in parking lots makes me think his scenes in the crown
In her Apple Music interview, she said it was inspired by the book, Rebecca, by Daphne du Maurier!
Say it louder omg!!!
Ugh watching this months later and your reactions just make me emotional. She’s so powerful and how lucky you guys are to have a group of swifties to listen with. I have no friends that love her like I do

"tolerate it" gives me Jake G feels, very RED in how detailed every line is.
I got Jake G vibes from parts of the album for sureeee. I agree tolerate it is connected to like not showing up to her birthday and the moment i knew
tolerated it's structure kinda sounds like dress to me
You guys are so new to reaction videos yet you have the perfect setup. Beautiful background, great conversation, someone in the background with lyrics at the ready. Top notch

and rep was released in Nov

LMAO I thought “motion capture” was a reference to her being in that monstrosity “Cats” 🤡
Definitely referencing Cats.
@@alterego1121 lmfao nahh she actually just confirmed what this line is about in an interview 😆
I wonder if Champagne problems relates to “Hoax” when the lyric says “I couldn’t give a reason” in hoax it’s “stood on the cliff side screaming give me a reason” I wonder if Taylor is the one screaming or one of her lovers wanting a reason from her
yesssssssssssss
i never thought about this
back here after you got ivy as a surprise song!!!! sooooo happy for u
Who else is here purely for Emily's screams? 😂😂
“That melody is so f*cking offensive” hahahah true 😂
The fact that every lyric in happiness fits perfectly about a divorce and also about scooter it’s insane
no literally, i usually think about it being about Abigail’s divorce, but it also is so OFFENSIVE to think about Scott and Scooter too🥲
Your theory about Willow being Joe’s nickname gets more meaning if you note that the first song of evermore is Willow and in folklore is The 1. Willow, the 1.
?
Woah
@@eriklrdp i'm still in confusion
@@fengbeto She is suggesting Joe is "The One" as in her one romantic partner.
YES
I think "closure" is about how she describes her relationship with borchetta and the big machine. The chaotic beats from the back reminds me of devastated "machines"...
yess! Like a machine breaking down
OH MY GOD! It’s the big machine falling apart!!
Ooh I love this! Though I saw another react video that said it’s a very kanye beat
Ok the fact that you predicted it would be esty is SCARY
What can we say we are deeply obsessed with both Taylor and Haim 😭 - Em
The "random" noises in Closure represent all the discord and messiness that happened in the relationship, but with the piano comes in, it covers it up somewhat, showing her music helped her defend herself from the trash.
Yea. I think it's kind of like the piano and the words of the song represent how she thinks about it, she can see things clearly and she knows what's good for her, but the crazy sounds represent the emotion in it, and just because she understand don't mean her emotions don't get to her sometimes.
I read somewhere that the sounds in closure purposefully sound like a machine. A big machine. 🧐
I thought it was supposed to be a “Big Machine” breaking down (her old label was called big machine)
On Marjorie- “Never be so polite, you forget your power” - reminds me of the sexual assault where her mom testified that she was sorry she taught her to be so polite (she thanked the DJ and his plus one for coming to the meet and greet after he assaulted her).
yes 😢
You have no idea how many times I refreshed your page the last 24 hours!!

This is a really interesting theory! Awwwweee😭 can't wait to watch season 2 of Dickinson.
Hailee steinfeld confirmed that this song will be used in the serie, is the theory becoming true ? *_*
Coming back here after knowing it's just about Matty Healy 😅
CAN we please talk about the fact that the beginning of “champagne problems” sounds so much like “New Year’s Day”????

Dorothea feels lighthearted, but knowing it was the other perspective for tis the damn season is just...... i haven't seen anyone address it yet, but it feels like dorothea would've stayed if the guy just had the balls to tell her so. He thinks "it's ok to watch you from afar" while dorothea was waiting for him to fight for her. The lyric "remember how you watched me leave / but if it's ok with you, it's ok with me" always hit me hard. That's why i feel like Dorothea is such an underrated song, ppl always find it sweet but it hurts mannn hahahahah

Emily is my internal hype for Taylor, but Bonny is the external hype for Taylor I show to the world.
I always picture Tom Hiddleston proposing in front of his family and her saying no when I listen to champagne problems. Because he has sisters and from past songs we learned that Tom didn't do anything wrong, he was crazy about her, she just unfortunately fell for someone else.
i always thought champagne problems was either fictional or abt justin a selena
I think Taylor was watching Gilmore girls and romanticizes about Logan and how he proposed and Rory said no. Idk it just fits the story so well.
