Taylor talking about her eating disorder BROKE me. During the 1989 era I was struggling with an eating disorder and I had a Pinterest board filled with pictures of Taylor. She was perfect to me, and I wanted to be as skinny and flawless and beautiful as her. Hearing that the girl I wanted to be so badly was struggling in the same way I was... I started SOBBING. I still cry every time I think about it. I am so happy she is happy and healthy right now.
I hope you are doing well these days! You are beautiful just the way you are. You might not feel beautiful everyday but that's okay you know we aren't perfect.
Honestly the amount of trauma this woman has gone through is ridiculous. Watching this documentary is heartbreaking when you hear everything she has been through (and that's without the whole masters debacle) but it's also ridiculously uplifting to see her find love and to express herself how she knows best, by creating fabulous music for other people to enjoy and lean on when they need it.
yeah. trauma. it couldnt possibly have anything to do with her wearing very revealing clothing in public, hence making her feel self conscious about her body. lmfao trauma. how insulting
1:28:39 footage of her with Joe hits different now that they broke up and we saw her running to Travis after the Eras Tour concert. I am happy she is happy but boy, we did think Joe was Endgame
True. Their love seemed so "pure" if that makes sense. Obviously we know almost nothing about their relationship or them as people - but maybe thats also what makes me think so. I think the less is shown to the public, the more special and important it is to them. Like Taylor said, she felt that this relationship was something she really needed to protect. The more important sth. is and the more you are emotionally invested in sth, the higher is the risk of getting extremly hurt - and sadly the public is able to leave its mark on it/destroying sth.
11:13 yes, totally. Having watch the documentary I just thought "I swear this girl has her entire life documented". And honestly, makes me want to start doing the same. Bless her mom for capturing all those moments
Why are they so impressed that Taylor had home videos??? That was like the 1990s-early 2000s, not 1890. Come on. Also, we all know she comes from money, it's not like it would have been such an undertaking for them to buy a camera. This is an American upper middle class white family, home videos is a universal experience.
@@AllTheArtsy it really wasn’t all that common for so many moments to he documented though. I was born in the late 90s and I have pictures but I really don’t have any videos 🤷♀️
I don’t know a lot about Taylor. I’m not a Swiftie. So I know I’m saying this without context, but when I saw the scene in the car I immediately thought “That mum is super pushy.” And then finding out she always wanted to be “a good girl” and actually developed an ED, also reacting the way she did after getting no Grammy nominations, I feel this even stronger. Nobody ever seems to have told her that she is perfectly fine and loved and worthy NO MATTER WHAT. And even though she seems to have detected that toxic mindset of always fearing to be a failure, she still doesn’t seem to be completely over it. She’s undoubtedly clever and talented, but I wish she’d ever exude a convincing IDGAF vibe and not care about other people’s judgement.
@@barbarasieverding1754 her mom isn't pushy at all, it was Taylor's dream to all this, her mom just believed in her which is sadly more than a lot of parents do
Honestly hearing her talk about falling in love with Joe makes me crazy emotional every time I hear it. I am just so happy that she found her person and that she is in a happy and healthy relationship
At this point, why do you guys have to ask “let me know if you wanna see us react to this……” UMMM YES?!?!?!?!? We want everything!! Even if you want to just react to her static noise 1989 track thing, I’m here for it??? The making os songs, the phone call, the tour, the live performances, theories in mv breaking down Easter eggs??? EVERYTHING!!!!
I also felt so heart broken when she reacted that way to Reputation not getting any Grammy noms, but I'm predicting it here: Reputation will be her biggest re-record release, even eclipsing 1989, and people will finally see what a superior album it is! Also, "superior" is now part of my vernacular thanks to you two and it's so offensive - see what I did there ;)
Also I remember feeling so guilty when I watched this the first time and she talked about her ED cause I always admired how good she looked during 1989 ☹️
This is something I think about SO MUCH!! Thousands of girls wanted to look like her during that era and yet she didn’t even want to look like her. It just shows you how the diet industry preys on girls and women and the goal isn’t to look any specific way but just to keep getting smaller.
same. I looked like that at that time and I remember people telling me if I'm eating enough (and honestly it was more complicated that me just starving myself and not at all about the looks so I always found that question ridiculous when it was pointed at me) and I found validation in Taylor. She was the same height and weight (at least according to some magazine) so I was like yeah, it's fine, there is nothing wrong with how I look. I think I even thought it's "good" -_- anyway this scene like really opened my eyes and I saw that that is definitely not okay and I should do everything in my power to change that.
@@leahdobres2616 I feel like girls see skinny and pretty girls on social media but the people that are skinny might be going through like absolute shit yk what i mean?
@@leahdobres2616 She didn't talk openly about having an ED and in the same documentary she said she didn't go to the doctor. In fact, what she did was a disservice. Leading anyone with critical sense to see that it could be a lie and that she didn't know how to talk about it.
I’ve seen this documentary so many times but I just realized her talking about the 2009 Kanye situation she said how formative it was and how it was a catalyst for decisions that weren’t great. Thinking about her need for approval and acceptance only a few months later she left TL and started dating John. It makes so much more sense now. She needed to feel accepted and someone she respected wanted her. Of course she would date him. He truly did prey on her in one of her most vulnerable times 😢
The fact these ladies are putting out this content to help “tide us over” until her next re release is so wholesome. Thank y’all so much for doing what you’re doing!
I don’t think it’s toxic to want a relationship at a point in time where you’re so successful and don’t feel like you have a significant other to share it with. Also I just think when you start nearing your 30s and you’re single, you do start to question where your personal life is going. It’s natural I think. You can still be empowered and want a relationship!
@@chatsandreacts Also, when she won album of the year she was actually still dating frightful Adam.😳 So maybe she just felt like she wasn’t with the right person….
Just the intro of y’all singing message in a bottle are the little gems of this world I live for, will forever watch your videos and then rewatch the old ones as they get better with time
I love watching this back and knowing how much has changed… Midnights, the eras tour, the breakup, speak now tv, a fall out boy and hayley williams collab, plus sooo much more. Little did we know
"I think my obsession with Taylor swift for over half of my life actually comes with like i think she is maybe in a lot ways of my first exposure to understanding my emotion" this is very true
When Tim McGraw came out, I told my parents I wanted to download it to our computer and they said, "That's a singer not a song." They were so wrong lol
1:11:25 "I am so guitly of making frightful people comfortable with the things that they say" this really hit me Emily ♥️ something I need to work on so badly, thanks for putting this feeling into words
I WISHED SHE ADDED FOOTAGE OF HER RECORDING THE SONGS ON LOVER SHE DID WITH JACK LIKE IM SORRRRRYYYYY.. BUT IMAGINE BEHIND THE SCENES OF I THINK HE KNOWS????? SO OFFENSIVE
41:15 I actually became a fan of Taylor Swift after watching this documentary because I really liked her ideas and her values and the way she stood up for things she believed in. It was a pretty great time to become a fan too since two albums came out not long after.
@@orangentage * Her political ‘moves’ (and docu) came across as nothing but rebranding, and once again making herself be viewed as the victim. She has done nothing politically since once she accomplished her mission. Also, her dad (and dad’s side) of the family are hardcore Republicans. This whole narrative of; “I couldn’t speak out” - BUT she could publicly say Amy P and Tina Fey have a special place in hell for them, tells me Taylor is full of poop.
The colorful kitchen is her Nashville condo... the first piece of real estate she ever purchased at 19/20 lol it also has a koi pond and a life size birdcage.... I wonder if she will ever renovate it be calmer. The shot at the beginning with the piano is her tribeca penthouse!
I just want to brag that my husband and I (this is his account) were at the Reputation concert that was filmed in Dallas. We go to a lot of concerts but I had never been able to see Taylor Swift because I live in a state without a stadium. It was a huge splurge for us to fly to Dallas (I was in graduate school), we went to both nights and the concert was incredible, so worth it. To this day the Reputation album holds a really special place in my life (although Speak Now is my husbands and my album so that one is special too. And Fearless, Lover, Folklore and Evermore…)
About the writing of "ME!" I have two kids who are 7 & 9 years old. They love this song and video, so she accomplished the little kids message. I love it, too, and a lot of it comes from watching this and seeing how happy she is in the making of it.
Taking this early access opportunity to say I've been binge watching your videos whilst nursing my newborn and everytime my Husband walks in the room he says "I can't believe these women are in their late 20's they look really young". I try telling him late 20's isn't necessarily old but you both do look radiant - particularly when talking about Taylor Swift 😅
As someone who grew up very religious and closed off.. this documentary meant so much to me. It’s the breaking of all the ingrained beliefs and toxic upbringings that made you hate yourself and not understand why.. it truly made me really appreciate Taylor even more. Finding our voices and our own beliefs is such a huge journey, Im so grateful that she chose to share that with us.
she and her fans always act like the 2016 "Kimye" debacle nearly "ruined" her career and destroyed her reputation, but did it? Did it really? At worst, that backlash was only on Stan Twitter. The general public, from what I remember, didn't really know about any of this. The only reputation that was tarnished was that people got the slightest indication that Taylor might not be a perfect, honest person all the time. I was there in 2007 when Britney Spears was going through the worst moments of her life on the public stage. I've seen what a ruined reputation looks like. Taylor Swift, thankfully, has never had to endure anything to that magnitude. She grew up in a well-off and stable family that didn't exploit her, and she's had massive amounts of success since her first album as a teenager. Again, there are legitimate snags and obstacles that she's had to overcome, but overall, her entire career has been nothing but highs. I can't really vouch for this narrative her fanbase constantly spins of her being this misunderstood underdog. … “You’re on your own kid.” Didn’t her parents just casually moved to Nashville cause she wanted to? And her dad even invested a large sum of money from her label when she was starting out? I remember listening to this song when the album dropped and said, “girl you’re a li@r” after it finished.
Honestly the whole Kanye thing has always been totally fucked up. I don’t think it mattered how she reacted to his lyric. People wanted to knock her of the pedi stall. Which he knew as well, otherwise he would never have done it. In the full phone call you hear Kanye treading water, he knew she would hate it. The OG lyric he told her was “I feel like Taylor Swift might owe me sex”. Taylor even says “the feminist are gonna come out. But I mean, you don’t give a f***. So..”. Kanye only called, not because he was scared of her following, but peoples perception of the sexism the line portrayed. However by twisting the story and her words he knew people wouldn’t care about that. Which then just leads into the man
If she had flat out refused on the phone call, he would have done it anyway, and people would have been like "she thinks she's too good to work with kanye" "she's not over 2009", etc. I don't think she could have won either way with it. Phone call reminds me of a "popular kid"/"bully" type asking someone to copy their homework, like she knows it wrong but she's also afraid of saying no, knowing either way it will probably blow up in her face.
Also the fact that kan*e didn't get in any trouble for having a stunt double resembling a naked Taylor, in bed in the music video... How is that not illegal (it might be and I'm just not aware of it, and if it is, why didn't he get any repocussions for it?)
Because the legal system in the USA is set up on placing the burden of proof in the victim; even thou we all saw it, most people (as shown) do not stand up even when they witness the crime; rather opt to question the victim. By her opting to channel the energy into the future instead of a legal battle, KW is not put into a situation to pay consequences. Furthermore by marrying KK, she rewarded his behavior in exchange of her sanity.
The thought that because of Covid we got Folklore and Evermore which in my opinion are her best albums and Folklore is my fav album... is just so mind-boggling that if she went on her lover tour we wouldn't have her best work...
I just realised it low-key sounds like she’s playing the ‘I still remember the first fall of snow’ part from the all too well 10 min version at the start, or that could just be me hearing it 😂
@@chatsandreacts i wish i could saw you guys reacted and talked about one of my favourite quote in the documentary when she said " Okay. A man does something, it's strategic. A woman does the same thing, it's calculated. A man is allowed to react, a woman can only overreact"
@@mmaa9199 I just checked and I don’t think it is, HOWEVER there is a section of her talking about misogyny and she says something similar so I think they got it mixed up
Okay I am just starting but can I say Emily you are so in your Taylor era?! Sometimes I glance at the screen and literally think Taylor is sitting next to Bonny this is madness
It amazes me and inspires me so much how hardworking she is, and I love knowing that she has always been like that, like saying that she's always thinking how to make this last. I think it's probably why she remains grounded today, it's truly inspiring
When she sings clean at the rep tour, I find it so perfect that she SKIPS the lyric about him staining her. She purposely skips it and looks at the crowd before carrying on. That’s so powerful.
Watching Miss Americana was the turn point for me about Taylor Swift. Being past the eating disorder, finally speaking about politics... This was the day I looked at her as a great woman. I looked into her work after (only knew love story from my teenager years 😅). I'm so glad she did this doc and so proud of her now.
I was fourteen when this documentary came out, and I literally watched it immediately. I learned so many things about my favorite singer/songwriter. I can honestly say that this documentary made me appreciate Taylor even more. Also, I want to brag that I was at the concert for Reputation on August 14, 2018. I was only thirteen, but completely treasured the time spent at the tour. You guys are amazing with your honest reactions. Thank you for such relatable content.
As a new listener to Taylor’s music it was genuinely eye opening for me to watch this doco and then listen to your commentary. Thank you. It’s hard to believe it’s the same person touring Oz with her Eras Tour atm. So much she’s been through, and she deserves the respect to just be herself with no judgements. It’s amazing how lonely it must be with her thoughts so I’m glad Travis and her Dad are here to support and distract her from all the negative reaction to the ground swelling of love from her fans. Can you also believe she got criticised for going to a zoo and patting a kangaroo by PETA, or flying her private jet to perform her shows….she will never please everyone and I believe she is relinquishing this “people pleasing” trait and focusing more on her happiness. May Travis be that strength to stand with her which has been missing in all her past partners 💖
2:00:33 I just lost my mom one week ago and it's been the most confusing, heartbreaking, and disorienting experience of my life. I've actually spent the last hour putting together a posterboard with photos for her memorial service while listening to this video playing in the background. And yes, so often I wonder when that might happen to Andrea and how Taylor will respond. I imagine she'll create some beautiful tribute song or group of songs honoring her mother at the very LEAST
Encountering this comment broke my heart, profoundly. I too lost my beloved Mother last year. 🥀 It is the most excruciating sorrow. I am wishing you continued strength as you carry onward, somehow, without her. 😢
Tbh, 2hrs and 47mins is not enough if it's Bonny and Emily talking. They're just full of wisdom and they comfort my soul during tough times. Thank y'alls 🤍
her being my childhood idol since i was 8 years old, seeing her for the first time when i went to her eras tour twice recently, watching this documentary again got me bawling my eyes out just 2 minutes in during the intro 🥹 she means so much to me. my inspiration.
I also saw in an interview once that Taylor said when started and was young other stars viewed as being similar to there own daughter but once she was around 19-20 that shifted and she felt a much different vibe. I can't remember her phrasing but it was a mix of feeling more vulnerable because she wasn't a viewed as a kid anymore. Also I think people starting viewing her in as a contemporary and things got more competitive.
I cried numerous times throughout this video, it just overwhelms me so much when I realise how much she has influenced me and how strong she is as a person is just SO powerful
Watching Miss Americana at this time is such a unique experience! She is at a time where she is beating all these insecurities and expectations she has for herself. She's talking about her eating disorder and how she felt like she was about to pass out after every show during the 1989 tour, and now she's doing 3,5 hour long shows night after night, and she is so strong and healthy. She's owning her work one album by one. She's still changing and playing with genres, and her career keeps growing. She's getting the recognition she f***ing deserves!
She didn't talk openly about having an ED and in the same documentary she said she didn't go to the doctor. In fact, what she did was a disservice. Because anyone knows that disorders need treatment and medical care and they ignored and minimized them in the documentary. i loved your take on the grammy nomination clip bc i think the same about it. she had grown up in that vicious cycle of proving her worth to the world and how she deserves her stage, every step of the way. you can't just let go and break the mold you've been conditioned to live in, overnight. yes with reputation, she put out a very bold statement but it was just the beginning and the first step in realising her power. ofcourse she was still trying to seek that validation post rep too, that fear was so deep rooted in her, of not out doing herself and being left behind. but i think we can say that now she has truly escaped the cycle. so proud of taylor! (i kept thinking about nothing new while writing this comment, it still fit her situation perfectly even 5 years down the line)
I was thinking about when we would get another video from you guys 5mins before I got the notification. Never in my wildest dreams (intentional) did i think it would be today! You're breakdowns and reactions are so insightful and you actually brighten my day so much with your videos. It is literally SUPERIOR how much we learn about Tay in the documentary and that she chose to share so much with us. The behind the scenes stuff just blows my mind. What do you meeeeeean she's a regular human! I laughed so hard at the fringe! That's exactly what I do with mine and Clean...... I actually died at how beautiful that moment was. She is so incredibly strong ❤❤❤❤
I love that you mentioned how Taylor is helping so many people by talking about these tough topics, because you gals are doing the same. I look up to you both so much. The hug after you watched the clean speech was much needed. Bonny’s right, it does affect you in a lot of ways, forever. Sending love to you leading ladies
now we need a new documentary because of covid, folklore, evermore, the albums being taken away from her, re-recordings, new music videos, her acting in a movie and midnights. so many things have happened ever since.
I’ve recently been watching a lot of reaction videos to Taylor, mainly from people who aren’t necessarily fans, but want to find out more about her. I like those videos, and I feel proud of her when the people are wowed by her story and her storytelling (and sometimes become big Swifties themselves). This is the first time I’ve watched it with people who know all the stories and the background and I’m NOT thinking “Ahh! It’s because THIS happened” and “That lyric is amazing/sad/sweet/devastating because…” and you’re commenting on how small Benji is and not just noticing the cute kitten. 😺 This is the first of your videos I’ve watched. I really enjoyed re-watching the doc with your commentary :) PS It’s very meta that I’m watching this a year after you posted it while you’re saying “Think of all the things that current Taylor knows and we have no idea.” And I’m thinking of all the things that’ve happened in the past year that this version of you doesn’t know yet and thinking, “Oh ladies, buckle up!”
I feel like ‘Me’ was totally different from what we’re used to get from her, but I honestly love it even though I don’t listen to it much. I loved all her live performances of it, and I loved that she explored smth different with it.
“Oh my god I can’t believe that one of us has to attend the other’s funeral” ☠️ not Emily making me laugh about death💀 ugh so true though. Cannot even fathom
When she mimes "I love you" to Joe and you say how you love how she just feels the urge, i honestly like the idea that he's just topped up her glass of wine with his free hand, ready for when she's done singing and she just noticed, because when you're 30 and your partner does that for you, that's love!
Watching Miss Americana is like a roller coaster of emotions☺and watching this with you girls is the bessssstttt and yesss you should totally do the City of Lover!!
Thank you for broadcasting this. I do not have Netflix, and it was killing me that I could not watch this. As an unabashed Swiftie, Taylor Swift is the most amazing person in the world. We simply cannot get enough of her. Thanks again
i cant believe i watched an almost 3 hour video of swifties reacting to a taylor swift documentary but i honestly loved every moment this was such a great experience where there are other people commenting about the documentary and not just me watching it by myself i look forward to more content from you guys!
When you watch this documentary after the whole Damon Albarn fiasco, you can really see how baffling it is that he would even claim she doesn’t write her songs. She was writing songs even as a child. It’s so crazy what the industry has put her through even at this stage in her career when it’s so clear how amazing of a songwriter she is.
This was such a joy! Seeing other people geek out over Taylor as much as I do is so amazing. I can’t even imagine how much time it took to edit this, or any of your other videos so thank youuu, you both just radiate positivity!
I think her Grammy performance of out of the woods was the first time the world went “woah” 😳 this woman can SING! She had really world hard on her vocals and proved everyone who had criticized her singing abilities wrong.
Ever seen Taylor trying to sing mariah carey? or with stevie nicks? A singing teacher analyzed her and said that she only does the basics and whether it's worth studying so much if people like her are successful.
Bonnie and Emily, thank you for posting this! It was so nice to watch Miss Americana with you guys 😁 I love your videos so much, both of you are superior humans (to borrow your phrase 😉) and it warms my heart and makes me so happy to see how much you love and appreciate Taylor. Sometimes I can't believe how lucky we all are to have her on this planet with us! Also, thank you so much for finding a way to not have to cut it way down because of copyright! I loved that you posted the whole film, it really was like watching it with you. Take care!
Just wanted to say her saying "shouldn't i have someone right now..." isn't a toxic trait at all, yes you don't need a partner to be happy.....but that kind of happiness is temporary because family and friends have their own individual lives and they wouldn't be there for you all the time so you kinda need that one person to walk through life with you hand in hand, share your ups and downs, dreams and hopes...you know someone to go back home to. Her friend Ed said a similar thing that out of all his achievements finding love and having his own family is the most important one.
it's also so crazy that the full phone call video HADN'T been leaked when this was made/released!!!! like she still wasn't vindicated yet and still hadn't had her named fully cleared when she put this out like it's so insane and brave for her to have addressed it still not knowing everyone would eventually get her full side of the story.
I love that she's looking at the camera during that last bit with The Archer playing in the background, when she's about to play Lover, but the moment she looks at the fans she can't help but open the biggest smile.
Since I'm new here I wanted to introduce myself, My name is Sofia, I'm from Finland 🇫🇮 and I'm 15 years old (going to be 16 in July) I love your reactions and I'm totally here for the 2+ hour long video ❤
the eating disorder clip felt so relatable as for me just as a 14 year old girl im still learning how to word things and it sounds like what i've always been trying to word...its funny because i always thought her 1989 body type was ideal and been so happy when all my friends told me that was how i actually looked...that was really eye opening for me honestly...also i love you guys sm you make me feel like less of a Taylor and lyric nerd 🤍❤

Would absolutely DIE for a breaking down the K*nye phone call video/discussion. Even just a full breakdown of the drama from start to finish including all of the songs that reference that whole situation in her albums would be so informative for people!!!!
this such a serotonin boost (like you two are so adorale and cute) to be honest and obviously as emotional a ride as watching it normally also the amounts of times i watched this documentary is honestly insane (i guess i watch it like every 2-4 week (mostly its rep tour (sometimes in two sessions), miss americana, rep, miss americana,...) i dont want to write a whole novel so the only other thing i'll comment on is that as a German person i always associated the lyrics 'going to class wondering where the best hiding spot would be' with bullying and someone being afraid, looking for a spot to escape the others the bullies... but the school shooting thing makes so much more sense and definetly fits with the rest of the song better... america is just absolutely crazy for its firearm regulation imo and i could never fathom how that is just something one lives with... i am a student and have my last exams at the moment, after i graduate i want to study and become a teacher so to think that in american schools shootings happen every now and than (intendedly banal put to highlight the absurdity of that being the norm) is just absolutely mad... my heart goes out to all the students and teachers who have to live, laugh and cry in this crazy system...
Hi, new here - been going down a rabbit hole of Taylor Reaction videos because don't really have any friends that are Swifties (I'm mostly an old-school goth, so most my friends don't "get it"). I heard Chats & Reacts in a couple other videos, this is the first Reaction of yours I'm seeing and loving it. Can't wait to watch more.
yes I’ve been so excited for this video!!! I truly love this documentary, and I love watching people talk about it, but I especially love when you two do it!! thank you for this video🥰❤️
Your videos are like therapy particularly this one. I watched Miss Americana alone when it first came out, felt so many emotions, and didn't have anyone to process it with. Loved your commentary, reactions, and perspectives - felt all those emotions again but now I feel like it's processed. Thank you!!!😊❤🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤
Re-watching and it's so crazy that she thought Lover era was her last chance at being a successful artist and being tolerated in the industry when now she has 4 new albums, 2 more grammy wins, arguably one of the most if not the most successful tours of all times, and has been person of the year. Plus the re-recording project, which at this time she thought no one would care about, is being so incredibly significant and successful. And in my little world I see women around her same age when she filmed this thinking that because of their age this is their last chance at trying for a career, a lifestyle, love, a family, professional success, etc. If Taylor's narrative isn't proof that we all - Taylor included - know nothing about how the future will pan out and plans/statistics are never to be fully trusted, then I don't know what is
i love that you guys always hit it right on the head about how she’s portraying herself. everytime you pause and speculate on anything she literally says the same thing right after you unpause. i like to think she watches these and feels so seen by all of us. this fandom is so special in that way of complete understanding of her. i don’t know if any other public figure shares that with their audience.
The scene where she's discussing publicly taking a stand in the TN race was filmed on the fly. The director did an interview and talked about it. She, the director, wasn't present, but someone idk who but guessing part of the film crew (?), kind of figured this might be a moment to get. I'm glad they got it. Its interesting to me, because I see Taylor as someone w/immense privilege and power. I think in some ways it's not enough, but I can still deeply empathize w/the roadblocks she's facing and the fear that was instilled in her about speaking out. And it is nice to see her speaking up more even beyond that moment and educate herself. It probably inspired more fans to look at the people who make laws and see if they agree with them. That's a good use of platform.
In the phone call video you can tell she was extremely uncomfortable and she wanted to say no, but I’m assuming that if she said no that he would turn it into a hole thing. Ka*ye had this mischievous grin the entire time of the phone call. You can tell she didn’t wanna do it, and she was uncomfortable so uncomfortable with the lyrics I think she felt like she couldn’t say anything.
Am I the only one that was bothered about the Kanye lyric about them having sex? Just the whole sentiment that he would somehow be owed sex in exchange for making her famous is beyond problematic. Yet everyone seemed to think that was perfectly fine.
And how he get away with it and still have fanbase and people call him legend 🙄 if it was a women they would have canceled her but he was a man so it's not new he get away with it ,what taylor suffered always make me cry 😭😭😭
@@boyslove5077 * She wrote Bad Blood about Katy Perry, cause she was upset over dancers being pulled from her. When in reality, the real reason is clearly due to Katy Perry dating John Mayer, which clearly put her off. Nothing wrong about writing a song about anyone she wants, but having a whole video campaign about pitting woman against Katy, and trying to find every big A-list name she could pull as me vs you, was whack. What doubles down her pettiness? The fact that she backtracks years later and went out of her way to blame “the media” when it was her who was out for revenge regarding Katy. She also posts a picture of Katy’s Olive Branch gift, with the words stating she is sorry. Which came across as really childish. If Katy never had apologised to her, Taylor would be still taking shots at her (purposely dropping her catalogue release on Spotify the day Katy Perry dropped her album.)
Taylor was raised Presbyterian; private Christian elementary school, public middle school (The Outside), move to Tennessee for the 8th grade, and then to public high school -- and home school (she was already on tour) after the 10th grade with another Christian school. She had a gospel group open some of her shows; she is very open about it, really. The names of the schools are on the Wikipedia page; she mentioned summer Bible camps in one of her very early radio interviews. Her childhood was in a rural part of Pennsylvania, maybe an hour and a half from either NYC or Philadelphia. Today, that part of the state is pretty poor; another reason for her parents to leave. The south is not a bastion of liberalism, although the demographics on that will shift a bit (slowly). One of the things left out after the win for 1989 -- no mention really of the boyfriends. She was alone at that point bc after she broke up with Styles, she didn't really date for a year and a half. (So, Clean). But, also no mention of Calvin Harris, who was part of her life from 2015 to 2016; she just erased any mention of him from her life story. Unlike Gyllenhaal (who only dated her for 3 months) he didn't rate many songs apart from Getaway Car (unless you assume he just gets lumped in with the other exes on Reputation(RFI, IDSB, DBM) and Lover (I Forgot that You Existed, or The Archer when she refers to her enemies starting out friends).
What's really interesting to me is Taylor talking about constantly reinventing herself and putting on a bigger and bigger show when I think at this point, her fans would absolutely die for her to do a very pared-back, piano/guiter acoustic show of her greatest hits from Debut onwards.
I always love watching your videos but your commentary on how men view women and the court case were just perfect. I've watched the documentary about 2-3 times now and I get so emotional hearing about the case. Even more so when I hear clean. As someone who adores that song, her showing it in a different light and giving fans a whole new way to connect to it just makes me emotional every time.
I’m sad with myself because I wasn’t ready for her reputation era at the time, I was still in the had to be a good girl phase and I remember thinking how disappointed I was that now Taylor was all about drama etc and I couldn’t connect with the lyrics, when she was literally just standing up for herself. I really didn’t like reputation or lover and I just though damn my favourite artist has changed. In the last few years I’ve discovered both those albums, lover still isn’t my favourite but I appreciate it’s a good album and I love some of the songs but reputation is a real masterpiece and it’s like I discovered them all for the first time.
Just finished watching, and for sure i'll be watching this reaction again. This youtube channel really brings out everything you need to know about Taylor, and thank you guys for giving us the tea and everything. One of my fave reactions!!!!
I'm going through a Really Hard Time right now, and I literally couldn't have asked for a better or more comforting video to pop up. Thank you both!!! ❤️
Same babe!!! Sending love xx
I hope you are doing well these days! You are beautiful just the way you are. You might not feel beautiful everyday but that's okay you know we aren't perfect.
I am! Not every day is a good day, but I am so much happier, healthier and more comfortable in my own skin than I was back then. ❤️
Me too!
I hope you are ok and happy too!!!❤
If we had Loverfest we wouldn't have Folklore and Evermore. Honestly I'd rather have those two albums than a tour. What a gift!
That's so true
I just want to know who the & friends would have been on that tour, like would it have been Selena? Halsey? WHO?!
just like if Red had won AOTY.... we wouldn"t have 1989
It’s not really because of Lover fest but bc of kovid. But she only had 2 shows for each location, compared to 2 whole albums
@@nilssjoberg.3303 I tbh couldn't care less if we didn't have 1989, Red deserved it more than anything
LMAO say u know nothing about mental health + trauma without saying u know nothing about mental health + trauma.. STFU and think before speaking

Let's note that this is a family tradition ... that's why we could see and rejoice in so much Marjorie!
So I know I’m saying this without context, but when I saw the scene in the car I immediately thought “That mum is super pushy.”
And then finding out she always wanted to be “a good girl” and actually developed an ED, also reacting the way she did after getting no Grammy nominations, I feel this even stronger.

EVERYTHING!!!!
yes.
even now look back to see LWYMMD mv, it seems there are still a lot of Easter eggs
hehe amazing thank youuu 💛
Breakdown of the Static Noise would be an interesting video to watch.
I also felt so heart broken when she reacted that way to Reputation not getting any Grammy noms, but I'm predicting it here: Reputation will be her biggest re-record release, even eclipsing 1989, and people will finally see what a superior album it is! Also, "superior" is now part of my vernacular thanks to you two and it's so offensive - see what I did there ;)
I see what you did there lol
No 1989 is just on another level
I completely agree.
I AGREE and you are illegal hehe
@@chatsandreacts oh, such an ICONIC response.
Also I remember feeling so guilty when I watched this the first time and she talked about her ED cause I always admired how good she looked during 1989 ☹️
Just goes to show every beauty standard is utter bullshit, even the people who are showing these standards can’t live up to them
This is something I think about SO MUCH!!

The amount of times I’ve said “we are not doing that anymore” to myself when dealing with so many personal struggles is unbelievable.

“You’re on your own kid.” Didn’t her parents just casually moved to Nashville cause she wanted to?
@@99monsters2 Exactly, and the amount of times she said "no" in the leaked phone call as well as "I need to think about it" just clarifies this point!
@@99monsters2 "I was in the alley surrounded on all sides, the knife cuts both ways-" 👀
The thought that because of Covid we got Folklore and Evermore which in my opinion are her best albums and Folklore is my fav album... is just so mind-boggling that if she went on her lover tour we wouldn't have her best work...

watching miss americana after tortured poets is out will be so interesting 💗
May Travis be that strength to stand with her which has been missing in all her past partners 💖

her being my childhood idol since i was 8 years old, seeing her for the first time when i went to her eras tour twice recently, watching this documentary again got me bawling my eyes out just 2 minutes in during the intro 🥹 she means so much to me. my inspiration.
2:21:15 she did do an interview with him around the time Fearless TV dropped (where they joked that Hey Stephen was about him)
Watching Miss Americana at this time is such a unique experience!
She's getting the recognition she f***ing deserves!

i loved your take on the grammy nomination clip bc i think the same about it. she had grown up in that vicious cycle of proving her worth to the world and how she deserves her stage, every step of the way. you can't just let go and break the mold you've been conditioned to live in, overnight. yes with reputation, she put out a very bold statement but it was just the beginning and the first step in realising her power. ofcourse she was still trying to seek that validation post rep too, that fear was so deep rooted in her, of not out doing herself and being left behind. but i think we can say that now she has truly escaped the cycle. so proud of taylor! (i kept thinking about nothing new while writing this comment, it still fit her situation perfectly even 5 years down the line)
I was thinking about when we would get another video from you guys 5mins before I got the notification. Never in my wildest dreams (intentional) did i think it would be today! Watching this in May 2024 is so interesting, especially with TTPD being out and Taylor sharing so much with that album!
She never stopped . She'll never stop. And that's how she's still here. ❤
now we need a new documentary because of covid, folklore, evermore, the albums being taken away from her, re-recordings, new music videos, her acting in a movie and midnights. so many things have happened ever since.
This is the first of your videos I’ve watched. I really enjoyed re-watching the doc with your commentary :)
PS It’s very meta that I’m watching this a year after you posted it while you’re saying “Think of all the things that current Taylor knows and we have no idea.” And I’m thinking of all the things that’ve happened in the past year that this version of you doesn’t know yet and thinking, “Oh ladies, buckle up!”
Unfathamable
When she mimes "I love you" to Joe and you say how you love how she just feels the urge, i honestly like the idea that he's just topped up her glass of wine with his free hand, ready for when she's done singing and she just noticed, because when you're 30 and your partner does that for you, that's love!
I thought it was maybe because he was getting emotional about the song
SacredFig oh highly likely!

The MTV footage really breaks my heart. You can really see how grateful she was to win her award and then she just crumbles. She was so young
She got wrong notes in this presentation and her own fans commented lol
Take care!
the fact that she immediately says she should just "make a better record" than REPUTATION....
Your videos need to be shown at the Taylor Swift NYU courses!!!!
rlly coz these two gal's very critical
OH MY GOSH! I literally screamed with excitement
thank you guys for taking the Time to record this and edit it! Oh my gosh
Watching this months later and omg 42:00 you said CINDERELLA VIBES! Fast forward two years, and we have a Cinderella music video!!!!
it's also so crazy that the full phone call video HADN'T been leaked when this was made/released!!!! like she still wasn't vindicated yet and still hadn't had her named fully cleared when she put this out like it's so insane and brave for her to have addressed it still not knowing everyone would eventually get her full side of the story.
its so sad we’ll never get a folklore & evermore tour, it would be such a good cryer
I love that she's looking at the camera during that last bit with The Archer playing in the background, when she's about to play Lover, but the moment she looks at the fans she can't help but open the biggest smile.
Since I'm new here I wanted to introduce myself, My name is Sofia, I'm from Finland 🇫🇮 and I'm 15 years old (going to be 16 in July)
I love your reactions and I'm totally here for the 2+ hour long video ❤
omg hello
Yey! Congratulations you just found the best taylor related channel on yt. ☺️
@@cielocatapat hi!
@@BebsTaem thanks and yes, they are the best ❤
THIS BEGINNING!!!!!!! such nice voices
the eating disorder clip felt so relatable as for me just as a 14 year old girl im still learning how to word things and it sounds like what i've always been trying to word...its funny because i always thought her 1989 body type was ideal and been so happy when all my friends told me that was how i actually looked...that was really eye opening for me honestly...also i love you guys sm you make me feel like less of a Taylor and lyric nerd 🤍❤
She didn't talk openly about having an ED and in the same documentary she said she didn't go to the doctor. In fact, what she did was a disservice. Because anyone knows that disorders need treatment and medical care and they ignored and minimized them in the documentary. Leading anyone with critical sense to see that it could be a lie and that she didn't know how to talk about it
Would absolutely DIE for a breaking down the K*nye phone call video/discussion. Even just a full breakdown of the drama from start to finish including all of the songs that reference that whole situation in her albums would be so informative for people!!!!
this such a serotonin boost (like you two are so adorale and cute) to be honest and obviously as emotional a ride as watching it normally also the amounts of times i watched this documentary is honestly insane (i guess i watch it like every 2-4 week (mostly its rep tour (sometimes in two sessions), miss americana, rep, miss americana,...)
i dont want to write a whole novel so the only other thing i'll comment on is that as a German person i always associated the lyrics 'going to class wondering where the best hiding spot would be' with bullying and someone being afraid, looking for a spot to escape the others the bullies... but the school shooting thing makes so much more sense and definetly fits with the rest of the song better... america is just absolutely crazy for its firearm regulation imo and i could never fathom how that is just something one lives with... i am a student and have my last exams at the moment, after i graduate i want to study and become a teacher so to think that in american schools shootings happen every now and than (intendedly banal put to highlight the absurdity of that being the norm) is just absolutely mad... my heart goes out to all the students and teachers who have to live, laugh and cry in this crazy system...
I’ve just had the longest first week back at uni so I really needed this! Thanks for always giving us superior Taylor content 🥰🥰
Welcome to the community! I love your account name by the way.
@@Sdority905 awww, thank you so much!
yes I’ve been so excited for this video!!!
If Taylor's narrative isn't proof that we all - Taylor included - know nothing about how the future will pan out and plans/statistics are never to be fully trusted, then I don't know what is
i love that you guys always hit it right on the head about how she’s portraying herself. everytime you pause and speculate on anything she literally says the same thing right after you unpause. i like to think she watches these and feels so seen by all of us. this fandom is so special in that way of complete understanding of her. i don’t know if any other public figure shares that with their audience.
how are yall not crying im literally balling ur eyes out .
No, I thought of that too and I'm actually really suprised no one talked about that
It's just so wrong
Oh no I was very bothered by the whole lyric, just digusting... and the video clip omg
@@rosanaconta3416you need to calm down
Taylor was raised Presbyterian; private Christian elementary school, public middle school (The Outside), move to Tennessee for the 8th grade, and then to public high school -- and home school (she was already on tour) after the 10th grade with another Christian school.
Also, I love, love how lit up you two get about how FRIGHTFUL men put down women who disagree.
First, second, and third times I watched this I was like MEN 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡 for about a week EACH TIME
@@clarajennison8890😭i know this was 2 years ago but thats still so real lmao
1:19:01 “karma ahhh is it the album she’s talking about? Is it the song” AHAHHAHA IF ONLY WE KNEWWWWWWW
In the last few years I’ve discovered both those albums, lover still isn’t my favourite but I appreciate it’s a good album and I love some of the songs but reputation is a real masterpiece and it’s like I discovered them all for the first time.
the vocals on message in a bottle>>>>
Just finished watching, and for sure i'll be watching this reaction again. This youtube channel really brings out everything you need to know about Taylor, and thank you guys for giving us the tea and everything. One of my fave reactions!!!!
I'm going through a Really Hard Time right now, and I literally couldn't have asked for a better or more comforting video to pop up. Thank you both!!! ❤️
