FOLKLORE AND THEN EVERMORE! What a journey this has been over the past month we’ve dived into not one but two incredible albums by Miss Taylor Swift! So color me impressed! Huge shout out to Bonny again for the “interview” lol

The worst part of Tolerate It is that at the end she says again “I sit and watch you,” which tells the listener that the breaking free happened only in her head.
I always saw it as, like, in the beginning, in the first "I sit and watch you", she was looking at him with sadness, wanting him to see her, appreciate her and wondering why she stays there when he clearly doesn't care, but on the last one she's not expecting him to look at her, she's analysing him, seeing him for who he is for the first time and ready to move on and break the cycle.

This is my absolute fav Taylor song. The Eras Tour film version is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 the bridge literally kills me. Also she performs champagne problems then tolerate it, like she emotionally wrecked me back to back 😭😭😭😭😭 we did not give her permission to do that!
I think the biggest thing for me was “believe me I COULD do it.” rather than can. It gives the energy of saying you could stop whenever you want, but still going back every time.
Re-experiencing Taylor’s albums through you is such an experience.

@@girlboss4252 for me i understood it as her shredding everything that he is and everything that he has built for them both throughout their relationship. i dont know the real meaning but this is what i interpret
@@girlboss4252 aside from what someone else said--it being everything that they built in their relationship--you have to recognize that tapestry is also really difficult to weave, and it usually has images instead of just patterns. you can't just patch it up. Taylor using tapestry in this song expresses just how destroyed the man was left with the rejection.
I just realised in “Tolerate it” the lyric “believe me I could do it” is the same melody as “at least I’m trying” in “this is me trying” I’m sobbing now

She usually writes all of her songs on piano or guitar first so that whenever you take the song and take away the production you can play it stripped back. She definitely needs to put out an album of a lot of her songs acoustically or on piano!

I think a big reason tolerate it hits some people so hard is because they've been in that situation. For me it was a toxic friend, for some it's a partner, others it's a parent. I just think maybe the lyrics don't speak to feelings he's had

“I can’t make it go away by making you a villain” is one of the greatest lines ever put into a song. What a particularly beautiful and heartbreaking lyric. I went through a breakup where there was no “bad guy,” just two people who didn’t share the goal of staying together.

For me, the bridges in Champagne Problems and Cardigan are constantly competing for the title of her most devastating bridges of all. Not only are they both very deeply emotive, but she just keeps coming at you with poetic line after poetic line until you're ugly crying on the floor in fetal position.

midas touch in champagne problems is such a slept on lyric midas was basically a greek king who turned everything he touched into gold who died from not being able to eat since everything he touched turned into gold and taylor was saying how even this perfect relationship was dying in the inside like the girls mental health
I also like to think that because she uses golden in other songs in the context of meaning love (and particularly love with Joe), so I think that this line is saying that although she didn't want to marry this person, she truly did love them, and that she couldn't be with the person because of her mental health

I always imagined ivy to be about a closeted woman who is in love with a woman who has cold hands. Such a great album
some people believe it’s about emily dickinson and sue gilbert. for example “taken mine when it’s been promised to another” is like how they would always hold hands but sue’s hand in marriage was to austin dickinson (emily’s brother) and another example is “he wants what’s only yours” basically saying how much austin wanted sue’s real love but the only person sue really loved was emily. i’m not completely sure it’s about them but the lyrics match perfectly to their situation

Marjorie has always made me sad but after seeing Taylor cry while performing it live made me tear up at the concert and now I cry every time I hear it 😭😭
I always loved Marjorie but after watching it live I have such a newfound appreciation for it I was literally crying the entire time
Marjorie is my favourite to watch videos of from the tour. Taylor almost always cries with the emotion and the whole stadium pays tribute to Marjorie and it’s so moving that the story and legacy of this one woman, barely known in the US (but big in Puerto Rico) has reached millions of people , some of whom have never even shared the Earth with her.
I'm seeing her in feb 2024. I played Marjorie at my mums funeral in 2021. I know hearing Marjorie live is going to destroy me! I was not expecting her to play it live at the tour at all and when it started playing on the first night of eras tour livestream, I broke down. She sounds incredible.
ivy is my favorite song of taylor's EVER and i think the thing i love most about it is the detail that the narrator is afraid her husband will "burn this house to the ground," but the rest of the song is about the ivy (love) covering her stone house. she doesn't realize in the midst of her anxiety that he CANT burn their love down. so beautiful.

Obviously my name is Marjorie and I was named after my Grandmother, Marjorie, who passed 9/30/22. When I go back and listen to that song, now, it's incredible how much it means to me. It's literally like it's me singing about my own Grandmother.

im sorry but evermore has to be Taylors best written album, I understand it’s overshadowed by folklore but its so superior (i love folklore too) I, personally, feel like evermore just carries such a beautiful message? Its the aches of growing while you’re already grown, reconnecting your past and going back to heal the biggest heartbreak we have, growing up, leaving childhood behind, mourning the child inside of you, this album is absolutely the first time you see yourself in the mirror when you turn 20/30/40/50, its the nothing changing, but the death of something that you didn’t even knew you had. I wrote a lot but the closing track and album name, evermore is just the core soul of this album, that one day you wake up and you realize you ARE gonna live, the day you CHOOSE to love life, romanticize everything. Its life, long story short, youre gonna survive, its such a hopeful album.

She wrote it for her best friend, whose marriage just ended. And the great gatsby is her friend's favorite. In fact her best friend's engagement party has a The Great Gatsby theme. So yeah.

I need to say, I wasn't a huge Tay Swiftie fan, but, when I listened to Evermore I knew I was wrong for not loving this amazing songwritter and creator that she is. I was stuck in this album for over a month, until I listened to folklore. Now, I'm stuck in folklore for over 2 months because the long pond studio version got me for good hahahaha. Once you listen to these 2 albuns there is no way you won't be a swiftie.

1. Happiness is theorized to be about Taylor's best friend, Abigail's divorce :(( "7 years in Heaven" adds up to the number of years Abigail dated and was married to her ex-husband. "Shit we're dividing up" has strong ties to the coldness of the divorce process and the lyric: "after giving you the best I had, tell me what's to give after that" parallels "and Abigail gave everything she had to a boy who changed his mind" in Fifteen (A song Taylor wrote for Abigail in her Love Story album)
2. Happiness also references Great Gatsby with "I hope she'll be a beautiful fool" and "Im paralyzed with Happiness" (both Daisy's words)
3. Champagne Problem's bridge "One for the money, two for the show," references a children's rhyme that people sing when preparing to start something (such as used in Blue Suede Shoes by Elvis) except Taylors' is an inversion from the pov of someone ending something :'((

6. In Long Story Short "Past me I wanna tell you not to get lost in these petty things, your nemesis will defeat themselves before you get the chance to swing" Kanye and Kim's divorce shade?
7. In Marjorie "Every scrap of you would be taken from me" makes me wonder if this is a reference to her Master's rights being sold to Scooter. The music her Grandma inspired her to pursue was taken from her

Dude if you haven't seen her 2021 Grammys performance (which you might have considering this video is almost 2 years old lol) you GOTTA watch it. She does a mashup of Cardigan, August and Willow, and the first two are pretty similar to how they are on the album, but for Willow she added some drums and strings and belts the last chorus and it's AMAZING. It's basically a folk rock version of the song!

Evermore (the song) is so underrated it makes me sad. It is so incredibly beautiful. Her vocals, the simple piano, and the lyrics really paint a picture of a harsh winter - metaphorically and literally. And then the sped up bridge to reflect the sudden change in season and situation UGH.
It's too hard to pick a favorite song but evermore is definitely up there. That bridge, their back and forths, all the emotions packed up in a single line "you were there"?? It's just such a beautiful song and I hate how underrated it is 😭 Haze is right, it's a beautiful way to end a beautiful album.
I love the fact that it is so underrated (even the whole evermore album) because it makes it feel like I am closer to Taylor somehow, the “you were there” line always brings me to tears
I love parts of that song, especially the evermore line and the piano, but I don't really like the vocal part of the man...

Evermore was actually the first album from Taylor that i voluntarily checked out (after coincidentally stumbling across champagne problems - first Taylor song that i really listened to - i thought it was worth checking the whole album out). It changed my perspective on her COMPLETELY, and no I’m not a swiftie BUT i listen to some of her songs regularly now.
Happiness is one of those songs that has some of the most beautifully poetic lyrics imo. It's not my favourite of the album but some lines are just SO good

Taylor’s Evermore is my absolute all time favourite album by her - i listen to it when i’m sad, i listen to it when i’m happy, it pretty much sums up literally every emotion that i go through thoughtout the entire day and i adore it because of that. it also has a special place in my heart because it’s dedicated to Emily Dickinson and she’s one of my favourite poetess, she’s genius. but even though i love this album with my whole heart, even though i know every word back and forth, i always think about the time when i heard it for the first time and i remember how magical moment that was for me. i just want to live it all again, but i can’t. but your first reaction to willow literally made me cry because it felt the closest i’ll ever be to be able to live that special experience of hearing the start of the album for the first time. thank you so much for that.
