Cardigan and My Tears Ricochet are simply the most beautiful songs ever. They're literally masterpieces. It's a story that you get involved into both of the perfectly, sad, beautiful and tragic lyrics and the addicting instrumentals/arrangements. And the normal effect of them is to you just to get extremely intrigued by all of that handsome sadness, and one of two options: you'll cry your soul out, or you gonna get on your knees and pray to these Gods in a song disguise.
I see what you did with the sad beautiful tragic

@@ivysepiphaniesit’s hiring
@@ivysepiphanieshe didnt skip it he js edited it so it wasn’t as long of a video
@@ivysepiphanies a lot of reactions do because there isn’t really much to add. It’s a great track to analyse and think about, but it’s hard to dissect on a first listen while you have the rest of the album which is a lot denser and nicer to listen to, while epiphany kinda just has a vibe that its almost an interlude track leading into betty. Also missing the grandfather/COVID connection does remove a lot of the track’s power, and it being so far after the latter’s biggest moments kinda loses the impact.

‘The Bon Iver guy…’ 😂 If you haven’t already, listen to the album, ‘For Emma, Forever Ago.’ Then you’ll understand why he is such an inspiration to Taylor, and so many others. It has some similarities and similar feels to Folklore, but it’s also a complimentary opposite in that the lyrics are deliberately vague in paces, so they evoke general feeling, rather than pulling your focus towards specific experiences. It’s a masterpiece, as is Folklore, and I’m sure any Folklore fan will be enchanted to experience it.

I've always seen Peace as a song describing a person with mental health problems that is trying to say like "I can be a lot, but I will do my best". Especially when she says "would it be enough if I could never give you peace?"; when you have depression you always think about giving people "peace" and going away, so it really resonated with me in that sense. Illicit Affairs is honestly one of the best songs on the album and in her discography as a whole. In my eyes, I’ve always seen it as a sort of “this is what happens in secret relationships” instead of it being about cheating on a partner. Taylor captures the magic of the thrill you feel having to hide your love for the other person, and that “dwindling mercurial high” is likely the words “I love you” since they are “a drug that only works the first few hundred times.” Illicit affairs and clandestine meetings mean the same thing, it’s about meeting up in secret behind everyone else, and I’ve always found the song to kind of be very close to my heart for some reason. Like it hits home in no way any other songs on the album (save for 2 others: mirrorball and this is me trying) really do
the way I could write a full essay about the meaning of any of the songs on this album... omg
how does she fit so many feelings inside a single song?? how does she do that?!?!
"How does she write this about other people?" Exactly. How does she have this connection, this ability to paint, as you say, about these experiences like she's lived it all already? It's just incredible. That's why this album should rank amongst the all-time greats.

Peace is my favorite song. You hit the nail on the head with your interpretation. My favorite line "and you know that I'd swing with you for the fences, sit with you in the trenches. Give you my wild, give you a child. Give you the silence that only comes when two people understand each other." Like that's truly what love is. Giving each other everything you have in the darkest of moments and also in the lightest. Choosing each other regardless of what comes your way. @@candyleigh015 well how do we feel about that theory now 😬
@@flip4907 immmm so pleasantly surprised and happy that I was wrong!! :D
i actually think u should give the reputation album a chance as an adult, some of those songs are sooo good, but they weren't singles and i didn't know of them back in high school and stuff. Also can't wait for the evermore.
Yes!!!! Incredible pop album.
The further away from reputation I get the more I appreciate it. It's got some amazing songs on it honestly.
Reputation is my personal favorite album of hers
Getaway car is my favorite
Yeah I didn't like reputation when it came out, appreciate it now in my late 20s
He needs to hear the backing vocals for Cardigan asap
for real! he will loose it!
seven is my favorite. it feels so innocent and nostalgic and it makes me cry every time
"who's Scott??? I have no idea but apparently he sucks" I have no right to be laughing this hard

When you skipped “and then it was bought buy me” during the last great American dynasty I was very insulted but the rest of the video made up for it.
RIGHT! and he skipped the big drop in August I was like WHAT
ME TOO AND HE EVEN WENT OVER THE FIRST HALF OF THE BRIDGE AGAIN AND STILL DIDN’T MENTION IT
He has a patreon tho ..watch the full thing Girls 👧
@@iamnoone7247 It is edited on patreon too, unless I am missing something there is no uncut version.
His whole reaction to the entirety of Betty is so hilarious and genuinely made me cackle a bit😂
Exile is one of those songs that gets me ever single time... bon iver and taylor are perfection!
YESSS😕😕😕
Dying at the Mad Woman reaction. “Instead of a quill, she is now writing with a gun”. 🤣🤣🤣
actually the characters she talks about are NOT people around her, they’re literal fictional characters she’s created in her head in a parallel universe maybe yk
There are still some characters around her for example her grandfather in epiphany.
@@rr-wh2eb yes but it's still narrated using that fictional spectrum yk
People who aren’t hardcore Taylor fans wouldn’t know this, though! Casual listeners don’t know the same things that you do. Sometimes people just listen to your favorite artist without knowing much about them or their personal lives and that’s fine!
That’s true but some lines are taken from her life and experiences for example “now I send his baby presents” refers to a real ex, I think joe jonas and madwoman about her fight with scooter Braun + rights to her music. She says so in long pond studios
Coming back here from ttpd discovering the matty lore 😂
Folklore and Evermore are a songwriting masterpiece. I love how appreciative of it you are. Love it!
When he said ‘oh no, OH NO… this is SAD’ I literally burst out laughing 😂 lol
Your statement on Jack Antonoff is on point. You're right, Jack is talented and a lovely humble person. That's why those female artist love working with him. Because they felt safe and appreciated. Didn't people learn anything from Kesha and Dr. Luke situation?
Epiphany is one of the most heart wrenching songs I’ve heard in a LONG time. The way she compared the trauma her grandfather in WW2 went through with nurses and doctors during the pandemic is honestly true though.
Doctors only were able to get minutes of sleep sometimes during the pandemic. The amount of people they would see dying, people they might’ve known, and having to literally gather bodies upon bodies and just put them in masses to the mortuary and all that.
It’s scary. I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a huge upsurge in PTSD cases within the medical field. It was very traumatic and is still traumatic. The ending sounding like a heart monitor as well…just sad as fuck
“Just to make sense of what you’ve seen”.
its one of those grower songs which sounds like a skip til you realize. Folklore is truly skipless with all of its tracks. People have to realize epiphany's beauty!!
Yeah, I read an interview with an old nurse taking about how she could see a lot of the young doctors that started their careers with the pandemic losing their empathy, just cutting off their emotions like soldiers do when they learn not to get attached to people in war. Very sad.
all this shit in past tense... still going through it sadly. the song brings tears to my eyes
WW2, WORLD WAR 2?

In terms of LWYMMD, reputation as a whole is a GIGANTIC difference and makes the song sound much better especially when you take it into consideration conceptually. How the album is simultaneously a defense mechanism and battle cry, and an ode to finding real connections and true love among chaos and hiding. The album goes from abrasive electropop to pure romantic softness.
ill defend reputation till my death bed tbh
