Correct! Bcs today my listening class was just cancelled, the lecturer was going somewhere, he couldn't attend the class. So then, I went to RUclips and this video was on the top of my thumbnail, and I was like okay let's see bcs I want to know more about this appealing album, evermore. Thanks for the wonderful video
Even though your reaction videos get more views cause it's fun to watch the two of you lose your minds, these breakdowns are soooooo good. You are both really talented at taking apart each song piece by piece & teaching me things I never realized or understood about them. Can't wait for more. Still have to finish the last three evermore's & I'll have completed my Emily & Bonny coursework.
LITERALLY!!!!!!! folklore is the superior album but has the occasional skip, meanwhile evermore is obviously still an amazing album but not as good, but not a SINGLE skip and the majority of my top 10 are from evermore
She is talking about her lovers, t shirt it was his brothers Travis Kelse , tightens of the Kansas City chiefs. They are living together they are in love!
the 'on your knees' line from champagne problems is so specific. because when somebody proposes they're only down on one knee. yet she said knees. and that may allude to the possibility of him begging on his knees trying to make this engagement successful. on the flip side, maybe this time he's no longer asking for her to say yes to the proposal, rather he just wants to make sense of what happened, but once again she couldn't give a reason. also, the juxtaposition of the first line 'you booked the night train for a reason' and 'and i couldn't give a reason' means so much because he always had a reason to be with her, but she was never able to give him that
the line “your midas touch on the chevy door” goes even deeper than you’d think king midas was the subject of a greek myth in which he was “blessed” by the gods to turn anything he touched to gold, but it was actually more of a curse because he had no control over what he “improved” with his touch. so, that implies he turned the chevy gold, whether on purpose or not. we know taylor loves her car metaphors, using them as a symbol for her relationships. so, we have a gold car; aka their relationship. it’ll look pretty and perfect to anyone on the outside, but if you’re the person trying to drive the car, you’re going to know it’s not practical and it’s not going anywhere bc golden cars aren’t meant to drive, adding to the “fucked in head” line and everyone viewing her as crazy for turning him down. IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT ITS SO MUCH WORSE AND WE GOT ALL OF THAT FROM ONE LINE?? god bless ms. swift.
WOW. This has me thinking, like his proposal is a metaphor for getting in the car with him, marriage is driving together, and he is opening the door for her, and it looks so pretty from the outside, but she knows it won’t work because it only looks good. I also picture a car that says just married, with a couple inside
i also think it’s interesting how the guy in champagne problems always has a reason, e.g. “you booked the night train for a reason” or “you called your family for a reason”. but then the girl says “she couldn’t give a reason”. i’m not sure but i think this shows that they’re both fundamentally different people and that were never going to work out.
When I first heard Champagne Problems I couldn’t believe that Taylor Swift wrote a song that so clearly explained how I felt when I turned down an engagement. It was many years ago. My BF was the son of a pastor, classically handsome, the nicest person you ever met, and just not my person. Someone actually dropped their glass, someone actually told me I wasn’t smart and never spoke to me again. But I went to grad school moved across the country and had a wonderful life. Sometimes the mental issues are because you are in the wrong relationship. The song also makes me think of Alice in wonderland and and how she refused an engagement and they thought she was mad.
i always thought it was “hometown skeptics called it champagne problems” not “hometown skeptics called it. champagne problems” and now i am rethinking my whole LIFE cause ur so right
I always thought it could equally be taken both ways. Like the sceptics could both have thought they wouldn’t last AND that her champagne problems were the reason!
Simply UNWELL knowing what's coming: Tolerate It No Body No Crime Happiness Dorothea Track 5, Murder a Man Bop, How to Reflect on a Breakup, AND the pairing to 'Tis The Damn Season in one breakdown? We. Are. Not. Worthy! Seriously, thanks for putting my thoughts and feelings to words. You guys are the best
i love that she referred back to "can i go where you go?" from lover in the line in willow where she sings "wherever you stray i follow." it's like the sweetest confirmation that joe was like "yes i'd love for you to go where i go" 🥺
I think evermore is more winter album and I actually enjoy it in the winter, the atmosphere, the weather. So, I’ve just realized you living in Australia and you’ve got the winter there 😅😊
“Write this down” almost like a contract that this is only for the weekend these are the conditions this is where I’ll be, almost promising that it won’t develop further then the context of the song.
OMG, never noticed the "your hometown skeptics called it"!!!!!!!!!!!!! SUPERIORRRRRRRRRR!! evermore is such a masterpiece... we could still find meanings and turns in 10 years.
"Evergreen our group of friends, don't think we'll say that word again" I agree that this line pertains to the break down of their friend group ("you go talk to your friends, talk to my friends" like you referenced in your evermore reaction video), but it also alludes to the two of them never being "friends" again after the breakup, which is one of the saddest parts of a relationship's ending. You don't just lose your romantic partner, more often than not you also lose a (best) friend.
@@kathrynluntefilmmaking Yes! This is how I took it too and as the listener your mind immediately grabs onto the word "evergreen" because it's like the flashier word, but I totally agree, I think she's essentially saying "we'll never use the word 'our' again"
Have y’all ever considered putting these breakdown videos into podcast form as well? I listen to them like a podcast - play the video and put AirPods in while I clean /drive/workout. I think it would be a very successful podcast :)
I think you girls could even do it for each song. Bonnie you said it, you talked abt Champagne Problems for an hour! We want to listen to the whole hour!
I thank God for this channel because my friends don’t love music and specially taylor swift like I do, so it’s like I’m having this conversation with your guys, I just love it so much!
People hating on Lover because of Me! being the lead single from the album. The colourful imagery and superficial lyrics makes it seem childish and not meaningful enough compared to other albums of Taylor. But honestly, the essence of Lover album is Love, and many people are having problems even for loving themselves, so can’t really blame them really. For me Lover is another Masterpiece of Taylor that is under appreciated because of its era cut short by Folklore before even the album turned 1 year.
i feel like taylor also likes to associate joe with ships because of 'i'm like the water when your ship rolled in that night' (willow) also 'when i was shipwrecked i thought of you' (evermore) and 'eyes like sinking ships on waters so inviting, i almost jump in' and i think that's a testament to how they keep each other afloat and that their ship literally goes with the ebbs and flows of life including all the rocky times and smooth experiences. and that makes them the ultimate ship (as in relationship)
I almost feel like evermore is a prequel to folklore in terms of the stories, like evermore has a more old-timey sound and has references to trains, ships, etc. whilst folklore talks about phones, skateboards, high heels, cars etc. and has a more modern vibe
“In this video we are gonna be breaking down the first four songs on evermore” Video: is an hour and 25 minutes long Not complaining though😂 we are so here for this like 5 hour total breakdown
That’s the biggest struggle being a swifite and choosing a favorite album. They are all so perfect in different ways. It really depends on the mood and what you are going through in your life. Taylor swift - if you want to YEE HAW Fearless- if you want to experience teen love and heartbreak Speak now- if you want to feel all aspects of love in a magical way RED- if you want to dance and cry at the same time 1989 - if you want to dance around your bedroom or go to the beach with your friends Reputation- if you want to be a BAD BITCH lover- if you want to feel happy, lovey and want to bop Folklore - if you want to escape the world and adventure into a fantasy land... and cry Evermore - if you want to feel like what folklore makes you feel but want dance to a few bops while maintaining lyrical perfection
Bonny and Em out here doing god’s work for us swifties but when will Taylor send you guys a personalized letter though? I’m manifesting it for you two. But please don’t forget about us when you do 😂
without the context of gold rush, the line 'my mind turns your life into folklore' relates back to rebekah from tlgad which is track 3 from folklore because that's literally what she did. she turned rebekah's life to a story that passed down onto her!!!!
Within the new context added by TTPD, gold rush now looks like a MH song. She turned him into folklore and couldn’t dare to dream about him anymore. I was not okay when I heard that lyric for the first time after TTPD. 😮
In my school's music class, we were tasked to choose a song and break down its mood, tone, etc.. I chose “champagne problems” and this is a little chunk of what I came up with… “The whole song tackled serious matters but the piano arrangement at the end suddenly became playful. It’s like smiling after confessing you’re not okay, because even though you’re hurt, you would rather shrug it off because you believe that you’re personal issues are smaller compared to big problems in society such as poverty and corruption. Hence, champagne problems.” While here’s a little thought I had for “’tis the damn season” which is a song that has a special place in my heart… “If it’s all the same to you, it’s the same for me,” gives me a pride or egoistic vibe. It’s like the narrator is saying that if the other person doesn’t care enough for their situation, then the feeling is mutual because she doesn’t want to be the one who loves the other person more. Maybe her pride can’t take it. But once the other would reveal that he misses her, then that’s when she’ll allow herself to sulk into her real feelings and admit that she does love the guy because she’s assured that it isn’t one-sided. This can also be seen when she says “I won’t ask you to wait if you don’t ask me to stay,” wherein it seems like she doesn’t want to look desperate. So even if it hurts her, she’ll continue to leave the town because she doesn’t want to accept or doesn’t want it to be noticeable that she loves the guy more than he loves her
Taylor said that ttds is based on a novel called “Normal People” by Sally Rooney - which is an amazing book, 100% recommend - and once you read the song is even more special. Honestly, how can she write a perfect synthesis of what the characters feel throughout the whole history. HOW DARE!
I actually do think that dorothea is from a male perspective purely because if we compare the songwriting to betty, tay seems to write male perspectives as super simple and straightforward whereas songs from the women's' perspective (cardigan/august/tis the damn season) are more complex and detailed and reflective because she as a woman is able to relate!!! I've always found it funny that she (seemingly) writes from a man's perspective so simply 😂
For Gold Rush: First, I think this is absolutely about Joe back when she was so convinced that he was too good for her. The hair falling into place like dominoes and the imagery of him being a contrarian - feels like when they were first getting together but not official yet - when she was afraid to be hurt. And that first line is for sure about sirens - being so inviting and beautiful and magical that men jumped to their deaths to be near them. She's saying that Joe (in her fantasies) was as magical and beautiful and tempting as a siren - so inviting she was almost willing to jump into shark-infested waters and die just to be closer to him. SO BRILLIANT
Gold Rush reminds me of that line from Delicate “Sometimes when I look into your eyes, I pretend you’re mine all the damn time,” because the intro and outro for the dream relationship is literally “gleaming, twinkling, eyes like sinking ships on waters, so inviting i almost jump in.” So for me it’s definitely about that period of time where their relationship was still delicate and could go one of the two ways in her mind 😭 Also can’t wait for the rest of your breakdowns! Love you guys ♥️
Another thing about the Midas Touch lyric is that - even though it sounds ideal - the gift of everything you touch turning to gold can be tragic. Because in the story, King Midas touches his daughter(I think but it could be another family member) and she consequently turns into gold with no way of turning back. So I think it’s interesting that Taylor described it as ‘Midas touch’ for a few reasons. A) This person who Taylor sings about is probably a wonderful person who turns everything into something wonderful, or, like the song says, into gold. However, as we see in the myth, this can be a bad thing as Midas turns his daughter into gold. A living, breathing human into gold. Essentially, he just froze her - it’s like she ‘stopped working’ and broke like the relationship. A relationship is something someone would probably try to make gold, however, in the process of trying to make it perfect, it fell apart. Additionally, Midas is probably alone, alone with things of gold. This is similar to what the person would probably experience after trying so hard to make everything golden, they’re so alone amongst their golden memories. B) What I found SO interesting is that Midas’ whole gift IS a Champagne Problem. You would think that turning things into gold would be one of the best things to ever have. But it ISNT and people would definitely just dismiss the issues of having that power because people tend to be jealous of other people’s success. They wouldn’t except Midas’ problems. I just find that SO interesting especially since Taylor sings about the other person HAVING the Midas touch, HAVIING the Champagne Problems. Overall, I feel like Taylor’s saying that even though this person is golden and can turn things golden, they have their issues, and, in the end, the downside of this golden gift ruined them. People thought that this the girl would say yes to the proposal but she didn’t and that must mean that the relationship looked so pure and true. Maybe the love was just encased in gold, but it was really just dead and broken on the inside - like the daughter frozen in gold.
Yeees,! Also. Midas touch on the Chevy door…means it doesn’t go anywhere. The car turns golden before it can be driven/ridden in! Hmmm a song about golden and driving. Wonder who it’s about. Lol
I like to think that she was frozen in blue because Taylor uses a lot of blue and gold colours as feelings in her songs. Outside it seems so gold and pure, but in the inside is broken and blue.
'folklore is a better album but evermore has better songs' YESSSSSSSSSS, THIS!!!! I love Evermore more, but only because I didn't know Folklore existed...?!😅😳 So when you listen to Evermore first and Folklore after that, it hits sooooooo different......Going from the happy mode to the dark days of Folklore..... (I love Folklore now...). I kinda wish i knew about Folklore before I listened to Evermore...!! Keep it up girls....love all the theories and reaction!! Greeting from the Netherlands
@@driftwr2202 I really don't know......When I was done with Evermore I saw that it was an sisteralbum.....and I was like; WHAT?? HOW DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS??
Honestly they are like sister, they definitely kind of complete each other even though they give kinda different vibes you know?? I just don’t know how to explain it but its like a sibling connection between the two
Collectively, as a fandom, we can all agree that the true essence of being a Swiftie is being unable to choose our favorite album/song. Also, rewatching this because I just love evermore album so much.
when I first heard the song I thought “don’t think we’ll say that word again” was about “OUR group” as in we will never have anything that’s ours again, there is no us anymore, there’s just you and just me, but we are not an us and we will never be again. It’s so cool to see it from all these perspectives and yet they all are great and fit the situation perfectly. Perfection✨
Just picture it: Next tour- lights go out, you hear the orchestral beginning to “gold rush”. Beat drops, lights come on->there’s your opening to the concert.
Will you guys do a song ranking again after all the Taylor’s Version come out (Plus the evermore album ? I’m very curious about the different way of taste!
also can i just say these videos are my comfort videos and it makes taylor’s release days something to look forward to even more and makes it feel more like a fandom community. I honestly can’t wait to watch you two react to RED (TV) !!!
simply. i simply cannot even begin to communicate how much i needed this on this depressing Thursday in lockdown after selling my soul to a cooperate job the whole day. Ty. So much. God bless ur service
I love love love those breakdown because even when I have a few songs that I don’t really care about you guys find a way to make me love them since I don’t always think about the lyrics in a way you do and then I can connect to a song and get obsessed lol
"tis the damn season" I find it so fitting that taylor wrote a song about going back to your ex, something that people usually think about doing while they're under the influence, while she's drunk
I'd like to say how amazing "Gold rush" is, not only because of the lyrics, the music is just so wonderful, I mean, at some point I felt like I was hearing an orchestra. The song has so many details that every time I'm listening, just keep finding new ones. Superior song 🙏
I can’t explain how much I love getting super long, masterclass style breakdowns from you two. I hope you know how appreciative we all are!! I always learn new things in your videos even being a massive MASSIVE Swiftie and I don’t have anyone on my level so I just feel understood here 🥺 I’m fortunate to have a large, tight knit friend group who all listen to her because I love her and will listen to me rant about her for hours but no one who just cries because she exists or spends every moment thinking about her and I just feel like I’ve found amazing besties and I’m so grateful this channel exists 🥺❤️❤️❤️ best Swiftie channel on RUclips by farrrrrrr
I'm actually just listening to evermore and I was like I wonder when Bonny and Emily are posting their breakdown and then bam! Thanks guys! Hope you're doing well. Sending lots of love from South Africa❤❤ Also Evermore is also my favourite album but there's no denying the absolute masterpiece that Folklore is!
Ugh! I'm never fond of just sitting and watching and ENTIRE reaction videos with other swifties but watching this feels like you both are my best friends just chatting about Taytay and her songs 😭❤💕🧡 Also, thank you for adding SUPERIOR and OFFENSIVE to my vocab. 😂
I'm a huge fan of all the earthy tones in your space! It's just so cosy and kind of a cabin feel. Can't wait to get out of summer 😋 And I just love this channel so much! I've been a huge swiftie since I was in school. But the way you guys break down the songs, and remember lyrics from other songs, is so fucking impressive! I could never go in that much detail! I also don't have any swiftie friend, so with the amazing energy from Emily and you, makes me feel like we're having a jam party together! Just a loving space. Thanks for being you guys! 💚
When she said “My mind turned your life into folklore” I just wondered about the love triangle in folklore, how Joe started writing Betty’s lyrics first...so maybe a few songs are actually about HIS past love life! Idk I just like the idea of that haha
I always thought the word she would never say again in the line "How evergreen, our group of friends" was the word 'our'. They're no longer a unit, a collective.
"Becauce I dropped your hand while dancing" In the short film Sadie screams "You dropped my hand!" & He pretend not to know what she was talking about. Here she's owning it- She is brave enough to amid what she did & that she is the reason why he is sitting on the train hurting😭😭😭😭 I can't.
WAIT Goldrush gives me Red vibesss - firstly 'my face in a red flush' - anticipating feeling like she did on Red (her 'true breakup album') but also... 'I don't like that falling feels like flying til the bone crush' reminds me of 'loving him is like trying to change your mind once you're already flying through the free fall'. And of course Red is all about colours and Goldrush is all about gold gaaaah
"That's the best thing about living" literally my mantra to get through life. Whenever I break down I remind myself I have masterpieces from Taylor and they can be my reason to stay, even if they are my only reason. Like if I just live for one more day, I can listen to her music for one more day. We are really so blessed. 🧡
also i think "my mind turns your life into folklore' does parallel how she turns joe's life and past into stories and weaves them into songs, kinda like how she did in invisible string or during rep like she's so infatuated with this person that she takes stories from his life as if they were folklore, imagines them further, elevates them. it kinda goes with "what must it be like to grow up that beautiful", she's imagining this person's upbringing and past, and turns it into tales as she's daydreaming about him
Now that there seven album as a recommend you guys should put each album in a month and like why that specific month. I love this channel so much it fills my Taylor Swift fangirling with you.
in 'tis the damn season', i always thought that the lyric “and the road not taken looks real good now” has two different meanings: the first is the one you mentioned and the second one takes place after the addition of the chorus “we can just ride around and the road not taken looks real good now” referencing to go to a less crowded place so they can have a more private moment?) and remember this old flame awesome video btw :D is always a pleasure to watch you ❤️ greetings from Bolivia 🇧🇴
So glad I found you guys! Cannot believe this amazing content. TS is a genius songwriter and I’m so glad you guys have broken down the verses of so many of her albums! Bless you! 😄😄
Honestly I do think she nods to cheating a few times. •Gorgeous- “there’s nothing I hate more than what I can’t have. Guess I’ll just stumble on home to my cats…unless you wanna come along” while also stating in the song that she has a boyfriend. •Cruel Summer - “i don’t wanna keep secrets just to keep you. And I snuck in through the garden gate every night that summer just to seal my fate” • Dont Blame Me - like the whole first half • Ivy - basically all of it but that’s hard because this could be just a story she thought up like she explained for those two albums.
Guys if you haven’t already, listen to English Teacher KP’s videos about Taylor’s songs!!! Her breakdowns of the songs are incredible and really helped me understand them even more
"There's an ache in you put there by the ache in me" and in You're losing me: "I know my pain is such an imposition". Not saying that they are connected or smth but just amazed of how that same feeling is expressed in those ways❤
OHH ok best video ever and i have things to sayyyyy❤️ok i've always imagined gold rush almost like Mine mv when she's in the cafe and then she starts daydreaming about what their future together could look likeee... and then she opens her eyes with the outro... she's in the cafe, with her day old tea standing in front of her and we're back in realityyyyy!!! same energy for me and i'm obsessed
"The more that you say the less I know" I also think this lyrics refers to what she THOUGHT love was supposed to be (the feeling of hot and cold passion from both 1989 and Rep) and as Joe is teaching her about a whole different world she is also realizing she had no idea what love could really be. 🥺😭☠️💙💚💛🧡💜❤❤️🔥💔💖
Gosh, this is exactly what I needed today, I'm still unwell because of the fact that evermore exists!!! I'm also loving this editing style, so so good ❤️
Thank you so much for these breakdown videos! I love them so much - I think in Champagne Problems that the word they’ll never say again is actually “our” - because they will never be “our” group of friends again, they’ll either me “my” or “your” friends - and also they will never have anything else ever again that belongs to them both and is therefore “ours” together 😭😭😭 Also I think Gold Rush is 100% about Joe! I think she’s writing from the perspective of her during her “delicate” phase with Joe when she was convinced it couldn’t happen & she’d never get her happily ever after (but as we know now she was wrong)
"Lost in the 'current' like a priceless wine" has TS looking up words that sound the same (i.e. currant) or synonyms. She's an analytical thinker and poet who is invested in the process. And you two keep the analysis going. Thank you!
"folklore is the better album but evermore has better songs." I'm getting this tattooed across my fuckin' chest tomorrow! I can easily rank my children but trying to rank Taylor's albums? Like.....no. It's impossible. This channel is my favorite place on the internet. 🧡😭🌻
🤣 In my opinion, I do believe folklore is her best singular body of work but the fact that everything on evermore sounds SOOO different yet SOOO cohesive keeps me up at night. It's the stuff that legends are made of.
@@atticusmcfly absolutely totally agree. She is a genius. The G.O.A.T and every song just fucks you up for different reasons. I think evermore has a different power vibe than folklore but both equally a masterpiece in their own right
Agree. Evermore has a power vibe that is different to the power vibe of folklore. Although equally superior and highly illegal each album hits differently for different reasons and that's what makes them perfection and Taylor swift a fucken genius 👏🙌👌❤
Honestly one of the best things about Taylor re-recording all her albums and releasing them now is that this time around we are old enough to buy alcohol and can drink responsibly at night after our day jobs, while we scream at the top of our lungs to relive our 16 year old heartbreaks.
Can i just say, lately has been super hard, my mother is going through an intense depression and addiction to her medication and may need hospitalization, which is crazy because normally she is so happy and sunny.. and you guys have been my comfort zone, you help me to forget briefly how fucked everything feels right now, so seriously, thank you for existing and doing what you do. love u guys.
I’m sooo excited for fall/winter bc of swift. Also I love folklore and evermore bc they are just genius. Every album is in its own lane of best albums.
Her vocal range in willow maybe also symbolizes a willow (tree) as well... Deep, down, grounded in the verses and then very high in the choruses like the branches up there when she completely indulges in this love and bends right to his wind.
i just love watching passionate people talking about the same passion i have, cause i react just like that when i am thinking about these songs i feel the hype from here and it makes me so happy to see the people getting excited about the same things i get excited too
You guys have taught me so much about Tay and her music! Gold Rush. I love this breakdown. I also watched English Teacher KP’s literary breakdown of Gold Rush. If you haven’t, she always entertains me too. It’s a fascinating song, not my fav, but lyrically it’s very interesting. I like how she is dreaming about this guy and the song is all about what their relationship will be like. Reminds me of the MV to Mine, where she sees their entire relationship while sitting at the table waiting for her order. But, in Gold Rush her thoughts go to how the relationship will not work, his contrarian shit. Almost like she saw the relationship doomed, kinda thinking back to her past relationships that hadn’t worked maybe. And just a self-fulfilling prophecy. If you go into it thinking it will end, it will eventually end. This reminds me if the shoe fits walk in it til your high heels break, meaning eventually it will break but walk in it while it feels good. Then she stops dreaming and lets him pass on by. Just like the Mine MV, she wakes up and finishes her order.
My favorite Swifties. Your reactions are part of evert Taylor Swift releases now. I just wish that you made this channel during reputation coz I really want to see your first-ever reaction to that album.
36:26 "You had a speech, you're speechless Love slipped beyond your reaches And I couldn't give a reason" I feel like that third line is perfect duality. Because he is left speechless in spite of being so prepared to commit to the relationship, but "I couldn't give a reason" is also another form of speechlessness, and for her it is specifically because she was unprepared to commit to the relationship.
Your breakdown videos feel like attending a class in the Taylor Swift School of Literature. 😌
Honestly I would take that class and major in Taylor Swift lyricism!
TAYLOR SWIFT EDUCATION CENTRE
Major in Metaphorical Allusion
Master in Easter Egg Investigation
Doctor of Philosophy in Taylor Swift Song Lore
Even though your reaction videos get more views cause it's fun to watch the two of you lose your minds, these breakdowns are soooooo good. You are both really talented at taking apart each song piece by piece & teaching me things I never realized or understood about them. Can't wait for more. Still have to finish the last three evermore's & I'll have completed my Emily & Bonny coursework.
"folklore is a better album but evermore has better songs" fax
THAT'S A FACT
HAVE NEVER AGREED TO SOMETHING MORE!
LITERALLY!!!!!!! folklore is the superior album but has the occasional skip, meanwhile evermore is obviously still an amazing album but not as good, but not a SINGLE skip and the majority of my top 10 are from evermore
FAAAAACTS
WOW THIS IS EXACTLY HOW I FEEL
“Sometimes I think that Taylor swift albums will go away and they don’t, that’s the best thing about living” - Bonny
She is talking about her lovers, t shirt it was his brothers Travis Kelse , tightens of the Kansas City chiefs. They are living together they are in love!
the 'on your knees' line from champagne problems is so specific. because when somebody proposes they're only down on one knee. yet she said knees. and that may allude to the possibility of him begging on his knees trying to make this engagement successful. on the flip side, maybe this time he's no longer asking for her to say yes to the proposal, rather he just wants to make sense of what happened, but once again she couldn't give a reason.
also, the juxtaposition of the first line 'you booked the night train for a reason' and 'and i couldn't give a reason' means so much because he always had a reason to be with her, but she was never able to give him that
Duuuudeeee! I never thought of it that way before about being on his knees. Ahhhhhhhh
Omg yo this needs more likes
ok but how could you even thought about that?????? girl i don't have this much brainnnnnn omfg
this makes the song even more sadder 🙁🙁
Teeaaaaaaa
the line “your midas touch on the chevy door” goes even deeper than you’d think
king midas was the subject of a greek myth in which he was “blessed” by the gods to turn anything he touched to gold, but it was actually more of a curse because he had no control over what he “improved” with his touch. so, that implies he turned the chevy gold, whether on purpose or not. we know taylor loves her car metaphors, using them as a symbol for her relationships. so, we have a gold car; aka their relationship. it’ll look pretty and perfect to anyone on the outside, but if you’re the person trying to drive the car, you’re going to know it’s not practical and it’s not going anywhere bc golden cars aren’t meant to drive, adding to the “fucked in head” line and everyone viewing her as crazy for turning him down.
IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT ITS SO MUCH WORSE AND WE GOT ALL OF THAT FROM ONE LINE?? god bless ms. swift.
holy shit. she's a genius, no one does it like her
oh my god 🤯
also if you'd think about it, king midas is the epitome of champagne problems. his problem is literally turning everything into gold.
WOW. This has me thinking, like his proposal is a metaphor for getting in the car with him, marriage is driving together, and he is opening the door for her, and it looks so pretty from the outside, but she knows it won’t work because it only looks good. I also picture a car that says just married, with a couple inside
this just made audibly gasp😮
i also think it’s interesting how the guy in champagne problems always has a reason, e.g. “you booked the night train for a reason” or “you called your family for a reason”. but then the girl says “she couldn’t give a reason”. i’m not sure but i think this shows that they’re both fundamentally different people and that were never going to work out.
Proof of Taylor’s genius songwriting. Mind blowing details.
Taylor puts a lot of little details in her songs to make the perfect characters.
THAT IS OFFENSIVE Taylor Swift is the most amazing poetic impressive human ever.

Tis the damn season - 1:07:56
I love when Taylor references Alice in wonderland!
i always thought it was “hometown skeptics called it champagne problems” not “hometown skeptics called it. champagne problems” and now i am rethinking my whole LIFE cause ur so right
I always thought it could equally be taken both ways. Like the sceptics could both have thought they wouldn’t last AND that her champagne problems were the reason!
😱🤯
Simply UNWELL knowing what's coming:
Tolerate It
No Body No Crime
Happiness
Dorothea
Track 5, Murder a Man Bop, How to Reflect on a Breakup, AND the pairing to 'Tis The Damn Season in one breakdown?
We. Are. Not. Worthy!
Seriously, thanks for putting my thoughts and feelings to words. You guys are the best
Tolerate it & Happiness absolutely wreck me 🥺😭
happiness is literally the saddest song she’s ever written but also it’s hopeful
Waiting patiently for part 2 and 4
The way Emily hits Bonny when she agrees with her is Everything 😭✋
i love that she referred back to "can i go where you go?" from lover in the line in willow where she sings "wherever you stray i follow." it's like the sweetest confirmation that joe was like "yes i'd love for you to go where i go" 🥺
SHUT UP THIS IS SO CUTE!
I think evermore is more winter album and I actually enjoy it in the winter, the atmosphere, the weather. So, I’ve just realized you living in Australia and you’ve got the winter there 😅😊
Yesss it’s so nice to have it during winter for the first time ☃️🍁🍂
“Write this down” almost like a contract that this is only for the weekend these are the conditions this is where I’ll be, almost promising that it won’t develop further then the context of the song.
I’ve always thought this way also!
OMG, never noticed the "your hometown skeptics called it"!!!!!!!!!!!!! SUPERIORRRRRRRRRR!! evermore is such a masterpiece... we could still find meanings and turns in 10 years.
Folklore is better cohesively as an album, while Evermore is better when songs are stand-alones. Both are great anyways.
Absolutely
Sonically cohesive 😏😏
"Evergreen our group of friends, don't think we'll say that word again"
I agree that this line pertains to the break down of their friend group ("you go talk to your friends, talk to my friends" like you referenced in your evermore reaction video), but it also alludes to the two of them never being "friends" again after the breakup, which is one of the saddest parts of a relationship's ending.

Aw thanks for being here 💓
Omg same!!!
Omg same! I don’t anyone who is as passionate as myself when it comes to Taylor’s music and I feel so wholesome when I look at their videos.
LOVER IS LITERALLY HER MOST STABLE ALBUM. ppl need to stop hating on it because it's absolutely amazing !!!!
Who's hating on Lover? How is that even possible?
@@lucjawawrzyniak everyone on twitter 😭
when it’s your 2nd least favourite taylor swift album😭
@@diya-hn2wy girl lover is a bop, but still we all have different tastes so I understand;)
For me Lover is another Masterpiece of Taylor that is under appreciated because of its era cut short by Folklore before even the album turned 1 year.
i feel like taylor also likes to associate joe with ships because of 'i'm like the water when your ship rolled in that night' (willow) also 'when i was shipwrecked i thought of you' (evermore) and 'eyes like sinking ships on waters so inviting, i almost jump in' and i think that's a testament to how they keep each other afloat and that their ship literally goes with the ebbs and flows of life including all the rocky times and smooth experiences. and that makes them the ultimate ship (as in relationship)
this is so smart!
Omg yes! Hadn't realised this!
yeaaah, that's also why I think that gold rush may be about Joe and how she felt about him, because of the ship "so inviting" reference !
Not just ship but more on the ~water~ vibe like "my waves meet your shore" in long story short
I almost feel like evermore is a prequel to folklore in terms of the stories, like evermore has a more old-timey sound and has references to trains, ships, etc. whilst folklore talks about phones, skateboards, high heels, cars etc. and has a more modern vibe
Ouuuu I like that
I totally agree cause August gives me a very modern vibe where ivy feels kind of old english
She said in an interview that folklore represents the beginnings of things, while evermore is about the end of those things.
@@borki7469 what does that even mean🤔
“In this video we are gonna be breaking down the first four songs on evermore”
Video: is an hour and 25 minutes long
Not complaining though😂 we are so here for this like 5 hour total breakdown

@@chatsandreacts 😆 couldn’t agree more. I would watch a 10 hour breakdown from you guys, it feels like I’m effortlessly hanging out with my besties
That’s the biggest struggle being a swifite and choosing a favorite album. They are all so perfect in different ways. It really depends on the mood and what you are going through in your life.
Taylor swift - if you want to YEE HAW
Fearless- if you want to experience teen love and heartbreak
Speak now- if you want to feel all aspects of love in a magical way
RED- if you want to dance and cry at the same time
1989 - if you want to dance around your bedroom or go to the beach with your friends
Reputation- if you want to be a BAD BITCH
lover- if you want to feel happy, lovey and want to bop
Folklore - if you want to escape the world and adventure into a fantasy land... and cry
Evermore - if you want to feel like what folklore makes you feel but want dance to a few bops while maintaining lyrical perfection
My favorite taylor album always changes like it will go from speak now to red to folklore to evermore to 1989 it’s so hard to choose xD
its not that simple 😢
"rough on the surface but you cut through like a knife"
"the shape of you was jagged and weak... But i stayed anyway" 😍
GOLD RUSH is deeply underrated and so so illegal, it is pure poetryyy and the melody makes me want to levitate i just can't cope 😭
Bonny and Em out here doing god’s work for us swifties but when will Taylor send you guys a personalized letter though? I’m manifesting it for you two. But please don’t forget about us when you do 😂

Two years later and she actually did😭🥺@@chatsandreacts
"How evergreen our group of friends" I always thought the word they'd never say again was OUR cause theres no OUR anymore when they are broken up.
Oooh yes !
I want a tea/coffee mug with ‘simply unwell’ or ‘this feels illegal’ ✨thank you✨
"Frightful Adam" merch please 🙏
without the context of gold rush, the line 'my mind turns your life into folklore' relates back to rebekah from tlgad which is track 3 from folklore because that's literally what she did. she turned rebekah's life to a story that passed down onto her!!!!
I chose “champagne problems” and this is a little chunk of what I came up with…
“The whole song tackled serious matters but the piano arrangement at the end suddenly became playful. It’s like smiling after confessing you’re not okay, because even though you’re hurt, you would rather shrug it off because you believe that you’re personal issues are smaller compared to big problems in society such as poverty and corruption. Hence, champagne problems.”
While here’s a little thought I had for “’tis the damn season” which is a song that has a special place in my heart…
“If it’s all the same to you, it’s the same for me,” gives me a pride or egoistic vibe.
So even if it hurts her, she’ll continue to leave the town because she doesn’t want to accept or doesn’t want it to be noticeable that she loves the guy more than he loves her
I hoped you helped introduce Taylor to people in your class.
Taylor said that ttds is based on a novel called “Normal People” by Sally Rooney - which is an amazing book, 100% recommend - and once you read the song is even more special. Honestly, how can she write a perfect synthesis of what the characters feel throughout the whole history. HOW DARE!
STOP THIS IS ILLEGAL I just read this book and it is so accurate
And now Joe is acting in a show based on her other book. How amazing is it that they share the love of this author!
What’s ttds
@@rinikaangelon9086 tis the damn season
I beg you, do not forget about the masterpiece Right Where You Left Me!!!!!!!!!!!!
How could we ever? Top 5 on evermore for me! Bonny x
@@chatsandreacts the taste!!!!!!!
Taylor Swift BLOWS MY MIND. Extremely impressive. I’m so blessed to be living at the same time as her, able to witness her brilliance in real time.
I totally agree!! I saw the same similarity
Perfection✨
Just picture it:
Next tour- lights go out, you hear the orchestral beginning to “gold rush”. Beat drops, lights come on->there’s your opening to the concert.
omg that’s perfect 😭😭

I find it so fitting that taylor wrote a song about going back to your ex, something that people usually think about doing while they're under the influence, while she's drunk
I'd like to say how amazing "Gold rush" is, not only because of the lyrics, the music is just so wonderful, I mean, at some point I felt like I was hearing an orchestra. The song has so many details that every time I'm listening, just keep finding new ones. Superior song 🙏

When she said “My mind turned your life into folklore” I just wondered about the love triangle in folklore, how Joe started writing Betty’s lyrics first...so maybe a few songs are actually about HIS past love life! Idk I just like the idea of that haha
this is my comfort channel, nothing more relaxing than to paint and listen to your videos :)
I always thought the word she would never say again in the line "How evergreen, our group of friends" was the word 'our'. They're no longer a unit, a collective.
But it could also be group, we will never be a group again
"Becauce I dropped your hand while dancing"
In the short film Sadie screams "You dropped my hand!" & He pretend not to know what she was talking about.
Here she's owning it- She is brave enough to amid what she did & that she is the reason why he is sitting on the train hurting😭😭😭😭 I can't.
Finally evermore breakdown 😭😭 you did it 👍🏻
4 song, 1 hour 25 minutes? No complain anymore. Your breakdown really something
I love this channel so much it fills my Taylor Swift fangirling with you.
in 'tis the damn season', i always thought that the lyric “and the road not taken looks real good now” has two different meanings: the first is the one you mentioned and the second one takes place after the addition of the chorus “we can just ride around and the road not taken looks real good now” referencing to go to a less crowded place so they can have a more private moment?) and remember this old flame
awesome video btw :D is always a pleasure to watch you ❤️ greetings from Bolivia 🇧🇴
So glad I found you guys! Cannot believe this amazing content. TS is a genius songwriter and I’m so glad you guys have broken down the verses of so many of her albums! Bless you! 😄😄
you two are my two favorite people in the world i swear to God. The seriousness in witch you discuss Champagn Problems is the pathway to my heart.
And I snuck in through the garden gate every night that summer just to seal my fate”
• Dont Blame Me - like the whole first half
• Ivy - basically all of it but that’s hard because this could be just a story she thought up like she explained for those two albums.
I think that in Cruel Summer she was talking about her hiding her relationship with Joe from the media
dont forget illicit affair
Guys if you haven’t already, listen to English Teacher KP’s videos about Taylor’s songs!!! Her breakdowns of the songs are incredible and really helped me understand them even more
"There's an ache in you put there by the ache in me" and in You're losing me: "I know my pain is such an imposition". Not saying that they are connected or smth but just amazed of how that same feeling is expressed in those ways❤
Taylor literally today posted the coded names of Red's vault songs!!!! The timing is unreal
Gold rush is basically Evermore’s Gorgeous 🤯
Gosh, this is exactly what I needed today, I'm still unwell because of the fact that evermore exists!!!
I'm also loving this editing style, so so good ❤️
I'm dying for you guys to react "it's time to go". It's one of my favourite songs of this album and I just can't wait!
I love evermore. I'm revisiting your reaction! Love your insight so much. Also, gold rush is highly underrated. I love that song!
Thank you so much for these breakdown videos! I love them so much - I think in Champagne Problems that the word they’ll never say again is actually “our” - because they will never be “our” group of friends again, they’ll either me “my” or “your” friends - and also they will never have anything else ever again that belongs to them both and is therefore “ours” together 😭😭😭
Also I think Gold Rush is 100% about Joe! I think she’s writing from the perspective of her during her “delicate” phase with Joe when she was convinced it couldn’t happen & she’d never get her happily ever after (but as we know now she was wrong)
they actually mentioned both of your points on their first reaction to evermore ❤
"Lost in the 'current' like a priceless wine" has TS looking up words that sound the same (i.e. currant) or synonyms. She's an analytical thinker and poet who is invested in the process. And you two keep the analysis going. Thank you!
"folklore is the better album but evermore has better songs."

@@atticusmcfly absolutely totally agree. She is a genius. The G.O.A.T and every song just fucks you up for different reasons. I think evermore has a different power vibe than folklore but both equally a masterpiece in their own right
The colour coordination of Em and Bonny's jumpers to Evermore and the new Red cover... *chefs kiss *
I agree with you! I love folklore and evermore. But there's just something about evermore that I can't explain why I prefer it over folklore
Agree. Evermore has a power vibe that is different to the power vibe of folklore. Although equally superior and highly illegal each album hits differently for different reasons and that's what makes them perfection and Taylor swift a fucken genius 👏🙌👌❤
I've always LIKED Evermore, but never actually fell in LOVE with it. Listening to your analysis has turned me into an Evermore lover. Thanks, ladies!
Deep, down, grounded in the verses and then very high in the choruses like the branches up there when she completely indulges in this love and bends right to his wind.
omg i just realized cowboy like me, ivy and coney island are going to be in a single video AND WE'RE NOT READY
i just love watching passionate people talking about the same passion i have, cause i react just like that when i am thinking about these songs i feel the hype from here and it makes me so happy to see the people getting excited about the same things i get excited too
“I need to hear this live, and I want it to be her on the piano” aged EXTREMELY well.
Fab. I’m dieing to know if Taylor has seen your channel
36:26
"You had a speech, you're speechless
Love slipped beyond your reaches
And I couldn't give a reason"
I feel like that third line is perfect duality. Because he is left speechless in spite of being so prepared to commit to the relationship, but "I couldn't give a reason" is also another form of speechlessness, and for her it is specifically because she was unprepared to commit to the relationship.
