Jon and AjayII legends for crying with champagne problems
That was the first song that broke me
And then tolerate it, happiness, marjorie and evermore dragged me to emotional filth
I cried too
jon and ajayII are my two favorite reaction channels. i love their reactions so much
Mental health has left the chat.
Waiting for Ashley to join the Holy Trio of Reactors 😂
Champagne Problems is easily one of the best songs she's ever written. It's absolutely breathtaking.
It really reminds me of all too well. It’s like All To Well’s older sister
@@Sophia-qq2ys same chords too! :D
The instrumental also reminds me of Garden Song by Phoebe Bridgers
Wait I don't get it. Is she talking about herself?
Baby Jane no, it’s a made up story about a couple who date in college.
Jon crying to several tracks on here is big mood
Which ones he did?
He did not.....

More on folklore.lol
The only people who aren't Taylor swift's fans are those who haven't given her a chance yet
Yeah. they should, cause She is Amazing
Yes of course
This is a fact, had so many friends that got converted into a Switie after having them listen to Taylor'a full length album.
True.
Majority of the time!
I did, it's not for me
Funny how you cried the most with Epiphany and Marjorie, the songs dedicated to her grandfather and grandmother.
Those songs are just beautiful emotional gut punches
I mean everyone who listens to marjorie cried
Majorie actually has Taylors Grandmother in the background singing opera...you can hear it when she says I can hear you singing to me, and in the ending. It beautiful and hits you in a way you don't expect.
so singing is something more of her family she does
It's very haunting
@@joshentertainment2 yes if you watch the lyric video of marjorie there are man newspaper clips of her grandmother who was famous in her own right unfortunately she died a year before taylor's career truly started which is very sad to think about
I lost my grandmother this year and this song hit my like a bus. Marjorie is the best song I’ve ever heard.
The piano on the last track was performed by William Bowery/Joe Alwyn her boyfriend, hell of a collab.
Also on exile. He wrote both piano parts 💕💕💕
Betty chorus too😂
He also helped write Champagne Problems
Finally someone paying my girl coney island the respect she deserves
Tolerate it hurts so good.
My favourite actually
Yeeesss! And champagne problems too. I just feel bad for the guy in champagne problems and for the woman in tolerate it 🙃
@@alfredd.l.8614 kinda like if she didn’t turn him down in champagne problems, she’ll end up like the girl in tolerate it
@@tiagochaves3087 my favorite track was ivy
my fav
personally "tolerate it" kind of reminds me of lady diana and prince charles' relationship. the age gap, the waiting by the door, everything about it. i'd be curious to know if that had any influence over her writing.
Omg same. As soon as I heard the "kid" line, I literally pictured all the visuals between Charles and Diana. It's one of her most heartbreaking songs. For some reason the dance Diana performed for Charles stands out most because he just "tolerates it" ugh I really want a behind the scenes of these songs
I thought it was an ode to her 19 year old self & to a then 32 yr old John Mayer. They too dated and had a huge age gap like Princess Di and Prince Charles.
Agree! It could be a perfect the crown season 4/5 soundtrack
@@ad-zx4iv yes! hopefully she documented the writing process!
@@Azarath_Metrion_Zinthos that's definitely possible as well. it really works for both
She’s always been an incredible songwriter. A cardinal rule with Taylor Swift is to never form judgements on her based on her singles. Ever. Please React to RED and Speak Now please!!!!
THIS
exactly!!! i hate it when people act like shake it off is her only song and it’s not even a bad song at that
@@emiliab9322 it is overplayed, that’s why it gets hated
Omg yes please RED ❤️
now that red tv is out… he should do it
I will forever be a Taylor Swift stan. She is one of, if not the best song writer today. Whenever you look at the writing credits it's all her. You don't have to like her but you have to respect her!
She is a real artist. I wish more people recognized her for that. She's such a genius.
I can't believe she wrote so many songs of this calibre in like, 9 months. How?! And some of them among the best of her career! There are so many over the two that are just knockouts. I love the feelings these two albums give me. They really create a specific mood and I'm here for it. It's not how I react to her pop stuff and I'm glad we get it all!
I think evermore will inevitably be compared to folklore because they came out so close together, but it's wild how they both stand up as individually sound projects.
The sort of writing she is doing here is in line with what she's always done, but obviously she's matured as a songwriter over the years. But you can see it taking shape in the early stuff and it's interesting!
She wrote all of it in like 5 months haha right after folklore and she just finished a week ago. This woman is insane.
Another great thing is that her fans always encourage her to reinvent herself if she's inspired by a concept. They were always there for her even when she stopped making new album for 3 years because of the 2016 witch hunt.
@@idkwhat606 wasn't happiness the last song?
@@kamallb4650 it was! And she finished it a week ago
yeah she was always gifted in the poetry and songwriting area and she’s only getting better and better. i think she won a national poetry competition when she was in 4th grade
Closure is about her old record label “Big Machine” selling her 6 albums & how they wronged her. Thats why the instrumental sounds like a big machine breaking down
It’s also a Kanye-esque beat. 😉
The production is like that because it's produced by BJ Burton lol. Who produces for Charli XCX and Bon Iver, it's his signature sound.
@Taylor i felt the same at first but it grew on me, it's one of my favs off the album lol
@@eye8697 I totally agree. It sounded insane at first, but then I realized the context. And I think it's great! go taylor!
@@collinvinish4944 she combined their “signature sound” which sounds like an electronic glitch with lyrics alluding to Big Machine’s downfall , hence why she probably picked them to coincide with her message.
Idk if this is right but I feel like the hectic beat in 'Closure' mixed with the smoother melody represents her trying to move on and forget about whatever happened and this person keeps coming in and trying to bring up the past for their own sake in a way that's constant and hard to ignore, and they are represented in musical form (erratic beats) as being so irrelevant to the main melody (hers) and therefore they are incompatible and it would not make sense for them to reconnect.
Brilliant analysis!
It's like a big machine crashing down
You know... BIG MACHINE
Wow that makes so much sense . Well done
I love how in “happiness”, she made a reference to the great gatsby with the quote “I hope she’ll be a beautiful fool” which was said by daisy about her daughter because she thought that’s what it takes to be “happy”
And also the green light lyric!

Taylor said that "dorothea" and "tis the damn season" are connected, they're two perspectives of the same relationship.
I loved it 😭
I can’t believe I’m saying this but after hearing this album for the 5th time I think I like it more than folklore. And folklore is like the best album of the year for me

What’s wild is she wrote “Happiness” two weeks ago
Marjorie is just the most perfect song she's ever written in my opinion
It’s my fav on the album 🥺
Totally agree
The track Ivy is quite possibly about Emily Dickinson and her lover. Taylor released this album on Emily's birthday and also on the letters she wrote to her lover, she ended it with " for evermore!"

It's funny coz Taylor includes specific details in her songs that make them about a specific relationship instead of keeping them vague like many artists do to keep them relatable. But it's those tiny details that hit the hardest and make her songs connect emotionally with people.
champagne problems is the all too well of evermore
absolute perfection
gold rush deserves more :(
it is definitely a grower :)
I understand his point of view because it's like August for me, sounds good but not my favourite
The production of gold rush was really good esp the intro/outro but the lyrics are kinda repetitive. That is probably the reason why he didn't liked it that much, because he really values lyricism (this is just my opinion. I actually like that song too tho :>>)
@@arjohnpangan8944 yeah I also value lyrics thats why august/goldrush aren't my favorites
It's a grower i need couple listen until i finally love it hehe
I really appreciate how Taylor Swift is authentic. No smoke and mirrors lyrics, fabricated pop image, or glittery leotards needed to fall back on. We need more strong female writers like her in mainstream media. 1 like = I agree.
Umm you gotta respect her pop albums as well. She loves all her albums. :)
what’s wrong with glittery leotards ?
Lana del rey says hii
Don’t mind me eating dinner in dim light listening to good music and a wise man’s opinion on it
Best vibes ♥️
Oh my god! I'm doing the same thing right now!
My mind was blown when folklore came out and then she dropped evermore and I don’t even know what to do with myself. I am not a TS fan and it’s just some of my favorite music I’ve heard.
Aaron Dessner and Jack Antonoff really crushed it on this one!! 🤩
Too bad Jack only produced one track and co-wrote just one other.

@@shanialauren2198 yeah! And I found many artists whom I've never listened to, but after his review, I gave it a try and it was good😊

Yesss please react to itttt 😔🙏🏻
Yes!!!! 👏🏽💖
There aren’t enough reactions to it on RUclips 😭
Me too, i didn’t mind her 1989 album but i was never drawn to her music or ever called myself a fan, but these 2 albums have won me over. She’s proven to be one of the best song writers next to Lana Del Rey for poetry and visions. Also the artwork for Folklore is beautiful. It’s the kind of photography I would want in my house.
It's nice to see someone who understands that these tracks are good because they are what they are. I LOVE my pop with high notes and loud production, but this type of music is timeless.
I wish people gave Coney Island and evermore as much love as Champagne problems 😭❤
AGREED they’re my favourites
You should definitely listen to her albums RED or 1989. RED is the album she transitioned from country to pop and 1989 was her biggest album, going fully pop and i believe its a masterpiece. Its impact on the genre is immense and features so many incredible hits (Blank Space, Shake it Off, Style, etc)
Red is AMAZING but I guess he’s probably heard every song from 1989 and won’t probably love it so much based on his taste
I don't think he'd like 1989, but I think RED he might.
too overproduced pop he's not into that :(
1989 is weak. There are good songs there but in general she used a very mainstream songwriting style. It's understandable that that made the album more appealing to more people, but it's kinda weak. I could say it's her weakest work to date.
In an interview she said all her other albums were full of angst because she was a teenager /early 20s but she is in a different place now. And so she started thinking of another pathway for creating music. The pandemic brought the imagination out and she realized she could actually go down this path of songs about scenarios she imagined instead of it being about her life anymore. And I love settled down Taylor though pissed off, unapologetic Taylor on Reputation is awesome. It not like anything else you expect. But yes, her songwriting & lyricism is bar none.
You need to react to Red, speak now, 1989 and reputation
he'll probably be impressed with songwritings, not sure sonically.
hoping he's going to react tho
My favorite moment of the whole album, in the chaos of the bridge in evermore, "you were there". Ughhhhh every single time.
Yes! Gets me every time.
Marjorie, strangely, hit me very hard when I heard it the first time. I never even knew my grandma, but I could - somehow - almost relate and feel the pain that Taylor was giving. She so very often knows how to stir up emotions in us that we didn't even knew were there, but are also so very real... hmm.
I just recently became a TS fan as well. Never paid her much attention but then I thought I'd give her a listen. She's an amazing songwriter and the Miss Americana documentary made me stan her even more. She seems like such a sensitive, down to earth person.
So, yeah, I'm a TS fan now.
I love Majorie, my grandmother passed a couple years back and that song hit me hard.
I am obsessed with both Folklore and Evermore
I don't care what anyone says she's incredible and I absolutely love her and her music
It’s a crime you didn’t like “Gold Rush” that much. My favorite song of the album 😒
I feel like he would love it in a acoustic version!!
I think he doesn't love catchy songs "Gold Rush" is beautiful but is more pop You can tell his favorite records are more like indie-folk songs
Tbh I didn't like gold rush either. Just felt out of place and more 'poppy' than what's expected from what we heard in folklore. Maybe it's just a lil jarring. Also not a big fan of dream pop. Reminded me of how it took me forever to like Starlight. Same vibes.
hmm i like gold rush too but maybe because he prefers the 'slower' and less upbeat record from taylor.
Absolute best, I was surprised too. I don’t just like it because it’s catchy, I think the subtle fast piano is beautiful, I get absolutely lost in the beat
OMG i feel bad because at first listen of Evermore. I really didn't like GOLD RUSH. but it grew on me. it's just like my least favorite. Maybe it's for a particular taste.
I'm a stan, at first listen I didn't like any tracks, literally. After 2 listens, it became my fav album of the year, beating folklore.
It's all in my head after 2nd listen😂
It's so much deeper... thats why!
Yes true, it takes a few listens to realize that it's absolutely a stunning masterpiece! I also enjoy it better than folklore; evermore is probably my second or third favourite album from 2020 (#1 is Punisher by Phoebe Bridgers, which is another deeply ethereal and enchanting album)
another folk album that came out this year is Phoebe Bridgers’ Punisher. another record that is beautifully written and produced. the title track there is dedicated to Elliot Smith, one of her greatest influences.
ps. she talked about Taylor on some of her tweets (and some say that taylor listened to Punisher while making folklore and evermore). a lot of fans of both artists want them to collaborate because both released great albums this year
That album encapsulates 2020 for me. Moon Song just breaks my heart and I know the end is just perfect.
I will cry on sight.
Please react to ittttt
just came back here cause he finally reacted to it
now they collaborated!!! and it's incredible
The piano in Exile, Champagne problems, Coney Island and Evermore is Joe, her boyfriend and that's soo beautiful and those are some of the best songs in the two albums
@@eltelw8209 Thanks for the comment, I was always interested in knowing more about Joe as a person and just occasionally hearing him out more about his art and his life in general, and unfortunately the fact that Taylor's relationships always get dissected on the pubblic square made her decide to shelter him and their relationship much more than in the past, which I completely respect and understand because frankly I don't think she's ever been consistently happy for this long and I really think she deserved that as much as Joe deserves to have his privacy from all the tabloids. Also I think that is a key factor of the chemistry they've shown both in their relationship and in their collaboration on these two albums, as Taylor said in her documentary "I also was falling in love with someone who had a really wonderfully normal, balanced, grounded life."
That's the type of life that she was looking for, also that's more genuine and intimate than she got the chance to experience before.
But then again it's also a kind of shame that Joe's character and his obvious and multifaceted talent for the arts isn't more renowned.
Personally just by reading the lyrics Taylor writes about him I think he really is something out of the ordinary, exactly like she is.
Taylor Swift has become legend now
You should listen to her Grammy Museum acoustic performances to some of her bigger songs from 1989. She not only explains where they come from but the acoustic approach and her voice is fabulous. Lastly you should watch folklore:Long Pond Studio sessions. Watching them together singing it ‘live’ and again talk about what’s behind the songs and how they can about.
Lol great timing! Just searched you hoping you'd react ❤️
The way my heart dropped with bitter sweetness when I saw an interview with Taylor explaining her grandma Marjorie was an opera singer and they put it in the song when she says “I’d swear you were singing to me now” and they play Marjorie singing opera..that is so special.
Taylor Swift makes you feel all your feelings.
why not trying her whole discography
Just a remider of albums that I think you would love to listen:
Punisher - Phoebe Bridges
Titanic Rising - Weyes Blood
Honestly all discography by HAIM
Lemonade - Beyoncé
Joanne - Lady Gaga
♡
yea.. women in music part 3 is one of the best albums of 2020
Some things you should know
Marjorie was an Opera singer (and TS's grandmother) and her voice has been used as the background vocals of the song towards the end
Piano in evermore was by her boyfriend Joe who also helped with the lyrics
Respect for being so honest and open on camera. That’s the reason I watch and have been watching for a few years now. Keep up the good work in 2021, Jon 👊🏻
Great reaction. I think you should check out her some of old albums. She has great songwriting in all of the albums. But I think RED is critically acclaimed same as folklore. I would be great of you'd check her older stuff
I loved your reactions to Evermore and Folklore! Welcome to the Swifty fandom! Being a swifty from the beginning, I can honestly say these two albums are her best and my personal favs! They're completely different from her previous work.
Please react to Taylor’s other albums
Right? Musically not his taste but this man would LOVE songs like all too well. 🤣
Dani no they’re too overproduced for him IMO
@@Daaaanielle exactly a lot of her songs that aren’t released as singles are much better than the ones that are but people only hear the singles so don’t realise that 😩
This album deserves way more attention!
it's just as good as folklore.(or even better in some cases)😭😭😭
We need a Kayce Musgraves album reaction! Golden hour specifically
To all, if you still don't know or just amazed how did Taylor write these beautiful songs all of a sudden, you clearly haven't listened to her old albums. Her country albums FEARLESS and SPEAK NOW, which she wrote at the age of 17 and 19 (SN is entirely self-written after critics complained that she didn't write her songs, only their co-writers did) showcases her talent at songwriting and storytelling, which set her apart from other growing artists at the time, earned her praise and 7 out of 10 Grammys came from there too. RED made her place at the top as it was considered as a lyrical masterpiece of taylor (now folklore and evermore joined the chat). after her pop crossover, ofc she can't write the same kind of lyrics, but they still have SIMILAR GREAT SONGS, which never became singles. She is one of the greatest songwriters of our generation.
Thanks for coming to my taylor swift's songwriting appreciation talk...
btw, her guitar playing skills are criminally underrated!
loved your comment on the Champagne Problems chord progression. It's in my top 3 on this album (changes constantly, i can't decide) and i immediately recognized the chord progression because she used it for All Too Well (from the RED album), which was widely recognized as her magnum opus before folklore came out. Those four chords are dangerous in her hands, she's too good at heartbreak ballads. not sure if you've reacted to RED already but i would love a reaction to All Too Well at least, it's a renowned classic in the taylor swift cinematic universe
i think we all just collectively sobbed when we first heard marjorie 😔🤚

He probably won't like 1989 since it's very poppy and upbeat for his taste.🥺
@@Azarath_Metrion_Zinthos that may be true, but 1989 has This Love, Clean or You're in Love, songs that I think he would like for sure.
