I highly suggest watching the full song (it’s on RUclips). I was stunned by her interpretation. You can hear her pain, anger, frustration, and everything. You truly feel like YOU are to blame for making her evil.
i think i prefer the more dark and mature sounding voices for Act 2 Elphaba just because she's gone through so much at this point. Also I just prefer a more cavernous voice for *The Wicked Witch of the West*
you should listen to alice fearn then!! she is my favourite and she just finished her stint on west end, if you search up on yt ‘alice fearn last wicked’ and listen to them, they’re bloody amazing!!
Eden and Idina both played Elphie and Maureen in Rent, and even Idina and Caissie Levy both played Elsa, Elphie, and sang I Dreamed A Dream- Idina on Glee, Caissie as Fantine in Les Mis
Damn, there is no way I could pick between all these talented women. Out of the women in this video, the ones I have seen live are Kerry, Rachel, Willemijn and Alice, and all of them were amazing. Also, Danna Paola has so much vocal power, especially considering she was just eighteen years old when she was cast as Elphaba in the Mexican production of Wicked.
Pedro Henrique ok a E shape is pretty to hit if you know what how to breath; but finding and holding lower fuller notes is technically mastering your craft. And finding a vowel you can rock with helps as well to open you up to go higher. Sure Myra 5 E shape is cool listen to the rest of her words in comparison
Always love Eden's "Let All of Oz Be Agreed, I'm WICKED...". The was she delivers that line, she sounds so much like Margret Hamilton with that very evil and witchy-ness to it. I get chills from it everytime I hear it.
I got to see Jessica Vosk perform in wicked live... it was one of the most incredible things I’ve ever experienced, and I believe her voice is part of why that particular song is one of my favorites
JEMMA HASN'T GOTTEN ENOUGH LOVE SO HERE I AM. She was my Elphaba all three times I watched Wicked, and she sounded the GODDAMN SAME AS THIS EVERY SINGLE TIME. She's amazing.
I just fell so hard for Alice! Lol. I also love Ock Joo-Hyun (like.. are you kidding? outstanding!) Jessica's was unique to me and her voice sounded so clear. Jackie & Rachel were great, too. I liked them all. I can't really choose.
There's one video of Eden performing this song, the one where her legendary "Fiyero" riff came from, where she absolutely demolishes the climax of this song. Sadly the video has been taken down because of copyright claims, so we may never be able to bask in her moment of heavenly ascension again.
What’s very interesting about this is that Idina Menzel was not a powerhouse blaster with her voice. This role pushed her voice to new limits and probably why she changed her technique later on. Block is what the song was designed for.
I'm gonna go with Idina. She's got an amazingly powerful voice, and I could listen to her for hours. But honestly, if I could sing with a modicum of the talent these women have, I'd count myself lucky.
Jessica Vosk, Myra Ruiz and Willemijn Verkaik are my favourites, for individual reasons. I love how dramatically (but securely) Jessica hits the "again, ever again" and the last note or two as well. I love Myra Ruiz's intense and agile riffing, she pulls it off really well. I love Willemijn because she's my favourite Elphie so I have to admit some bias, but she performs the whole song so intensely and makes it feel darker than other performers, probably because of her slightly deeper timbre. She has the most unbelievable breath control. Though I feel Emma Hatton and Kerry Ellis each deserve an honourable mention.
1. Jackie burns (SHES LITERALLY BENT IN HALF AND STILL BELTS IT EFFORTLESSLY) 2. Jessica Vosk 3. Rachel Tucker 4. Ock Joo-Hyun 5. Alyssa Fox/Alice Fearn I cant decide
My vote goes to Jessica Voc, you can hear her despair/breaking point as she sings it and on "I promise no good deed, will I attempt to again" you can really feel her thoughts go in motion:)
Jessica's tone is SO GOD DAMN clear and fucking pure and so good. like, there is no flaw in her tone. Rachel's slide was oh god so good. I got chills, it really added to the telling of it.
jessica vosk, willemijn verkaik, and jackie burns just blew it out of the water for me. Their arrangements were exceptional and you can hear the emotion in their voices. They’re probably my favorite elphabas of all time. I like the way Jemma Rix brings it up at the beginning. Kerry Ellis also nailed it. Jennifer Dinoia splayed it. Also really liked Rachel Tucker.
Lindsay Medez sound very edgy and I love about her!!!! The others sound a bit rushed... Stephanie sounds like she's in great character as well hitting that note without too much power which I like... Rachel Tucker takes it a step down which sounds amazing...
Kerry is the only one who sounds just perfect to me. Lindsay is also good, but it sounds to me like she is singing it in a lower key, I don't know if it's just the audio... I also like Jennifer's timbre, but she doesn't sustain the note...
Willemijn Verkaik was amazing. Saw her live for my 16th and she made me cry! Loved seeing the international Elphabas. I’ve watched Idina and Shoshana sing and they are incredible too. But I think as witnessing it live and giving me all the emotions my favourite is Willemijn 💕💕
I think the slide that Rachel Tucker does makes the song sound like a freaking awesome rock song. Just wow. It truly sets it apart in a different way and makes it so sound so different from the others. Vosk still wins for me, though.
JESS👏🏻MOTHAFUCKIN👏🏻VOSK👏🏻 Also loved: • Donna Paola • Alice Fearn • Jackie Burns • Stephanie J. Block • Shoshana Bean • Kerry Ellis (everything she sings always sounds amazing) • RACHEL TUCKER Honourable mentions: • Jackie Hughes wasn’t my fave but her range is so versatile, she needs attention😍 I saw her as Mrs Banks in Mary Poppins and her soprano register is on point👌🏻 • Same with Willemijn but I still love her
I have a very special place in my heart for Eden Espinosa, she was my first Elphaba and completely blew my 10 year old mind all those years ago. Left me completely enraptured and just in awe. I wish the recording did her more justice but with copyright and all that, it is what it is 💚 thanks for the video though, it was lovely!
I just always loved idinas because i can really feel the emotion instead of “how many riffs can you do” competition that many other singers do. Plus her voice has that “witch-y” quality that i just loved
@@offcialmusicvotes7140 It's about representation. The Wicked casting directors have stated that they don't want Glinda to be played by a black woman, there has been ONE black Elphaba, and she wasn't even the main Elphaba. Correct me if I'm wrong. It's 2019, and there has been one black Elphie and NO black Glinda. Wicked has been playing for 11 years almost, and there's obviously been a shit ton of Elphie's and Glinda's because the show is so vocally demanding. I hope this clears anything up xoxoxo
Alice Fearn will always be my favourite Elphie. Saw her at the Victoria Apollo on the 13th October. She was phenomenal. I didn't know I could sweat and get goosebumps at the same time.....turns out she performed with Pharyngitis. Incredible incredible talent!
Emma Hatton is my favorite of those I have seen. She plays such an aggressie Elphaba which is really refreshing from the usual more sad version that I usually see around.
Reminder that all of these women are amazing and while some may be better than others, they all have extremely good voices, and they're obviously on Broadway for a reason. Don't ignore that they all have their own individual strengths/weaknesses, and recognize that they are all ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE performers.
I adored Ock’s version! amazing voice, so much emotion and she really showcases Elphaba’s wickedness. Jessica’s was out of this world. There’s so much clarity in her voice, Pure perfection!!
Do you prefer the again part to be sung higher ("AgAAAAAAAAinnn") or just flat «not used in terms of pitch» ("Agaaaaaaain")
Mister Golightly donna vivino was the best for me but I don't see her on the list
The latter for me. :)
I prefer the higher. Plus I can hold the note easier when I do aAAAGAAAAAIIIIINNNN
Pearl the rebel true!
I prefer the AAAAAAAAAgAAAAAIINNNNN if that makes sense lol like the riff at the beginning and the middle like Alice fearn did
Just Incase you don’t know, shoshana was sick af during that performance and still managed to snatch both my main wig and my back up wig
Keith Harrell yAS
She's the best. Always, and forever.
Didn't she just lose her husband or something? I think i read that somewhere
Ikr
Keith Harrell YETH
WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT SHOSHANA her little “again ever again” was AMAZING
Julian Brown and i think she had a 103 degree fever!! What an icon
Eva Noblezada does a similar thing in her D-EVA medley and I love it so much
Quarter note triplet feel - so hot.
Jessica Vosk's No Good Deed is the best thing I've ever heard
I saw jessika vosks 300th performance
Erin Twombly yeah it is
I saw her live she is amazing!
True
Jessica vosk’s everything is the best thing
tell me why Lindsay Mendez could literally sing anything and make it sound like the easiest song in the world
emidyliza / Elizabeth because she a amazing performer she one of the tops for me; my personal favorite is Shoshana followed by Lindsay
Ock Joo-Hyun. You guys, she is so intense.
Christianna W I agree
Christianna W Most Definitely
She chilled me to the core ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
AGREE❤️❤️❤️
AGREEEE
Ock Joo-hyun’s Elphaba seems so unhinged and I love it.
I highly suggest watching the full song (it’s on RUclips). I was stunned by her interpretation. You can hear her pain, anger, frustration, and everything. You truly feel like YOU are to blame for making her evil.
Jessica is one of the best i've ever know, i just need more emotion on "i'm wicked", and i'm in love on every Elphaba that screams angrily "Wicked"
Iris Martínez omg I love that part too! I prefer the ones who kinda scream-ish the wicked part because it's filled with anger and cynicism
caleb barrera she’s not crap
Tucker,Fearn and Bentley’s Angel Forever you should follow your own advice because holy shit listen to the resonance and power behind her voice!
i think i prefer the more dark and mature sounding voices for Act 2 Elphaba just because she's gone through so much at this point. Also I just prefer a more cavernous voice for *The Wicked Witch of the West*
Julia Murney did that well her Elphie
I love Indina ❤️
you should listen to alice fearn then!! she is my favourite and she just finished her stint on west end, if you search up on yt ‘alice fearn last wicked’ and listen to them, they’re bloody amazing!!
For me its alwasy Shoshana. Not to mention the clip of her singing on the martha stewart show is when she was running a 100 levle feaver
Keating McFarland yes I know she is amazing!!
And she still sounds perfect!
That's a Legend right there!
You can hear it on her inhale. Astonishing that she sounded so good, she has superhero lungs
And I feel so bad for her when she lost her boyfriend and cried in one of her performances on stage. Poor girl 💔

No wonder Eden and Idina are picked for the same roles, they look extremely similar.
All three of them rotate thru similar things
Eden and Idina both played Elphie and Maureen in Rent, and even Idina and Caissie Levy both played Elsa, Elphie, and sang I Dreamed A Dream- Idina on Glee, Caissie as Fantine in Les Mis
Okay my favorites were Ock, Jessica, Jackie, and obviously Idina. But is no one gonna talk about Danna Paola? 😍
I know, right? And she was 18-21 when she played the role!!!!
She’s my fav 💚
“Obviously Idina” Thank you!
THANK YOU!!! Christ, I went back 4 times!!
I would go with Jessica because her resonance is unbeatable but 4:54’s arrangement AND resonance got the cake for me
Myra Ruiz is amazing!
Maicon nobody asked but that is true
Brazilian elphaba
Nasir Roper that’s the name of the actress who was singing...
The sequencing is incredible
I'm quite sad Donna Vivino was not here, but I live for Jessica Vosk.

Lindsay Mendez and MY GIRL JESSICA VOSK. Without question- Jessica!! I met her and saw her LIVE. I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO AMAZED! SHE IS TRULY AMAZING!
You can feel the rage in Jackie’s voice
tomgallowitz I freaking agree
tomgallowitz truly the best!!!
Jackie’s is the most emotional and best
There is not enough love for Ock Joo-hyun!!! The tone! The emotion! I'm dead.

Donna Paula was my personal favorite, while she probably wasn’t the strongest on the end, hers just was very aesthetically pleasing to the ear.
Danna Paola
Actually, she has the ending for "No good deed" she does riffs but this performance wasn't that good. Look for other videos of her. She was amazing.
that's because this performance wasnt for the public, was for the media basically. If u watch her other performances she slayed it
I got to see Jessica Vosk perform in wicked live... it was one of the most incredible things I’ve ever experienced, and I believe her voice is part of why that particular song is one of my favorites
God Jessica's is just so technically perfect that it blows everyone else out of the water

Yes!
Then she went from Elphaba to another Idina Menzel role and played Elsa. I'm so lucky I got to witness both performances she is amazing
And she played the Wicked Witch of the West in the Wizard of Oz. Absolutely adore Jemma and all her work 🥰
Excited to see how our new witches go!
I love when they bite off that last note almost with a scream like Shoshanna Bean.
YES! Or with a growl it just makes it so much more emotional and out of control like Elphaba is in this song
And Ock Joo Hyun too
