    14:09 Ock Joo-Hyun will always and forever have my favorite rendition of this song. She delivers with vocals, but adds so much fire and anger to No Good Deed that it makes me believe that she's truly turning 'Wicked'. More often than not people tend to enjoy the better vocalist Elphaba's, and while I love them all, so often the emotion and backstory to these songs gets lost in all of the fancy riffs. Ock kept it original, while also incorporating so much of what this song is meant to symbolize; a turning point where Elphaba truly decides she's going to be wicked.

  • @theodorehua4916
    @theodorehua4916 Год назад +31

    Hannah Corneau in my opinion has the best No Good Deed. Her belt is just so clean and her ascensions to her F5 and D5’s are just so clean! Also she absolutely has the best ‘Fiyero’ before the big riff. Her dynamical contrast beats every other Elphaba! The way she descends at the end is also by far the best and fullest sounding! Her F5 sounds so effortless and mixed properly. Not only that, her acting in this song is impeccable! Asides Corneau, Jessica Vosk, Jackie Burns, Alyssa Fox, and Emmy Raver-Lampmen have some of the best NGD’s! Stephanie J. Block still holds her own against all these amazing riffs! In my opinion, SJB has the best NGD that has no embellishments(not to say embellishments are bad), but there is a beauty to the simplicity of Stephanie’s NGD.

    Myra Ruiz, a rainha! eu amo.
    I love all of them, but these are just (some) of my favorites, in no particular order.
    1. Idina Menzel & Stephanie J. Block
    2. Myra Ruiz & Danna Paola
    3. Willemijn Verkaik & Rachel Tucker
    4. Shoshana Bean & Eden Espinosa

    I think Jackie Burns may be the best, most well-rounded vocalist I've seen in the role. She is consistent and her placement is so underrated. Rachel Tucker is a close second.

    One thing I don't like is taking the note up a 3rd on the last syllable of Fiero. Staying on the same note for the duration is much more impactful. Somewhere, it morphed into this; sounds like the song is so iconic that singers felt they had to top what was written. What was written is brilliant!

    can you do comparisons of Queens who did both Bway and WE, how different the accent is?
    I know Willemijn did changed the accent since she said in a interview.( in her case German ver. & Dutch ver. too)
    What do you think?
    PS. Is this the 1st appearance of Roberta Elphaba in your video??

    • @MisterGolightly
      @MisterGolightly  3 года назад +1

      For the Roberta question, yes! Someone recommended her to me and I did my research. She's so good..Willemijn did changed her accent. It was kinda funny at first but she mastered it towards the end to me. Let me see what I can work with!

    • @giulietta3210
      @giulietta3210 3 года назад

      @@MisterGolightly Wow!
      Roberta has done so much but kind of underrated, if compared to Willemijn & other German/Wien musical actors 🤔
      Elisabeth(both Willemijn & Roberta has done) comparison would be nice too✨

    • @meg4322
      @meg4322 3 года назад +1

      @@giulietta3210 Willemijn was only in the Thun production right? ("only" as in "just that and not any of the others")
      also i agree about elisabeth(this isn't an attempt to make a pitch if the video poster is reading, i'm just talking about in general), other german-language musicals would be great too; i just thought of it now and i would LOVE to see something like this for rebecca(reprise) or ich gehor nur mir omg-- specifically the last note for IGNM
      unfortunately (for me anyway) i think this kind of video would probably only work with a few french musicals, but romeo et juliette could definitely be done
      actually it would probably just be hard for the male roles now that i think about it, the female roles get new actresses much more often
