When I tell people I only eat once or twice a day and only in a max 6 hour period they think it's insane. Oh my you should be eating at least 3 squares a day!!! You're going to get sick and weak. I'm going on three and a half years. Every now and then I'll do a 2 or three day fast. No simple carbs only few veggies, lots of high fats zero seed oils. Lots of avocado, grass fed beef NO SUGAR, there's a game changer. I have tons of energy and I have listened to this doc for several years. His advice is priceless, really! He's funny and entertaining too. I'm 72.

I started following this Dr about 8 months ago. I had my 6 month heart checkup last week. My cardiologist said... I'm concerned about your bp being low this time. He wanted to reduce my medz. It never entered my mind it was because I've been fasting 18 hrs a day for the last 8 months. Wow, incredible.

@@sampsonekwet5497 Typically, the best way to start a fast - especially if you're new to it - is to implement a keto diet (low-carb) for 2 - 3 days prior to the actual fast. This way, you can curtail many of the withdrawal symptoms beforehand.

I did this for 2 years, ate within 1 hour timeframe, first a meal then a snack, what was weird is, first 2 months i ate burgers, pizza, fries, literally what you would say is worst food, and while i did that i still lost weight, my A1C lowered, blood pressure lowered, energy levels high, cravings gone, and after 2 months i noticed i started eating healthier foods, i noticed carbs didn't really give me that dopamine kick anymore, i think it has to do with getting more fat adapted which means my body had an abundance of fat from my body.

Thank you for the insights. A question bothering some fastees is - glucose (including FBS) and HbA1c are, contradictorily, highish - people blame it on pseudo "dawn phenomenon" sort of mechanism. Despite fasting correctly (18:6 - 22:2) and on low carb etc. and hence supposedly the insulin is low most time of the day, they have highish blood sugar and HbA1c....(like 5.5-6.0). Not sure how this can be fixed.

I would like to know if the results of fasting are same for all ages. I was told that for people of age 70+ or 80+ the effect of fasting is much lower than for people of age 30+ or 40+. Is that right? If yes, which part of the results? What's about the influence on autophagy of people in higher ages?

What meal is going to provide that? I don’t expect an answer cuz I know its not possible without a protein supplement like whey included in meal at 2x to 3x the scoop recommended.

Caloric deficit also lowers blood pressure, you dont have to actually fast, you just need to eat less

Would you provide at least one randomized controlled trial that shows the benefits of fasting that you claim. All it has been shown so far is that fasting is just another way to be on a caloric deficit so people can loose weight.

Use yourself as a test. It won’t kill you😊. It worked for me, and I’m still here. Better BP and enjoying life without health issues.

@ I workout (weight lifting & cardio) 6 days/wk and I am lean. I have no metabolic disease. The point that has been shown by randomized controlled trials is that the fact of losing weight/fat solve the diseases no matter the diet method. This cardiologist uses fasting as the method. That is fine. Just don’t imagine that the benefits come from fasting when it is but from losing weight. That is all.

I’m so confused, just went to a nutritionist as I have to lose weight for my high numbers and I have been trying to fast but they want me to have breakfast and she said the usual…”breakfast it’s the most important meal of your day”…

I’m a type 1 diabetic , I’m at my best with no breakfast and only background insulin. Dietician is focused on nutrition in an industry driven environment. They cannot sell you a health first message , vegetarian animals eat all day but No carbs!. Carnivorous animals might eat once or twice a week
